Library Lobby
Almost as soon as she got inside, Makoto's radio went off, and she went to unhook it from her pants. Right, it was still on the militia's channel. She was about to turn it off when she realized that it was Rex speaking. Wait, he was inside the ship already? By himself? Did he have a death wish? Lewis hovered past her to the front desk, but she barely noticed him.
"Rex, didn't I just ask you to be careful?" she whispered to herself. She'd keep the radio on for now in case he called for help. Now a lot more worried, she went over to the front desk as well, going through the stuff she needed in her head.
Makoto stopped a considerable distance from where Phillip, and Lewis were, quietly waiting for them to be done. It was pretty clear that she was nervous about something though, her hands playing with one of her knuckledusters as she stood there and made her list. She wasn't going to let Rex die...

"Oh really? That's just great!" one of the pig orcs' voice responded to Rex on the channel, in a sarcastic tone. "We'll just be down here, having a giant spider tank thing blowing up the prison! No worries, wish you luck!" he went on, voice still dripping with sarcasm.
When it came to the actual goings on in the ship, the inside of a corridor wasn't the easiest place to be swinging around a giant, pseudo-nunchuck. Rex kept losing speed and thus threat potential as the great big device kept slamming into the walls; though if he was looking to do some property damage and lower the selling value of the ship, he was succeeding immensely.
But that's not to say that it was a totally pointless exercise; debris and some energy sparks were liberally blasted throughout the corridor, forcing the sangheili to move back while using his free arm to protect his head. He kept firing in the meantime until his gun stopped from overheating, putting minor damage into the funchuck that Rex was using defensively.
From farther behind Rex, the medivac could be faintly heard commenting, "Waitin' on you. Let's go."
"Um, didn't I say that they do sometimes?" Seirwuosuhr responded to Squigly with a somewhat confused tone, one eyebrow a little up.
"No. If you meant to, you must've forgotten that part" the Miss Tairee sitting on the couch said simply.
"I did..? Oh, sorry" Seirwuosuhr muttered. "But yeah, they come back. Well, not all of them. It's an inn so it's not like they're gonna stay forever. We only do because it's also our house" the little girl explained in a nonchalant way.
However she then paused to think, staring forward at the top of the coffee table as her mouth scrunched up a bit in trying to piece things together from a child's perspective. "... It's when they come back that sometimes they're really quiet. They just sit there and drink ale, nothing like when they left. Mommy told me to leave them be when they're like that; just give them some space and not pester them"
Meanwhile, the Miss Tairee at the central desks seemed to be somewhat concentrating on her typing, though acknowledged Lewis by glancing at him briefly before keeping at it. The phone and bag of holding appeared with blurs on the desk quickly after his initial request; it was only after his addition that the Miss Tairee there finally paused, and turned her head to look at him blankly. "... You want a manga box set? Now?" Miss Tairee asked, her tone still fairly neutral though still carrying an obvious, 'are you serious?' to it.
Without the firepower to really even put a dent in the remaining covenant scarab, the militia guarding the prison could do little but try to get out of the way as it marched into the ruined gate and charged up the large, unfolding, beam weapon at its front end. With a loud discharging of energy, the scarab fired an indiscriminate beam into the main prison structure, tearing through the front and along through one of the prison cell blocks, blasting a line through the upper half of the cells in that line. For those prison cells hit, it meant any prisoner in them could try to climb through the newly made holes to freedom; it wasn't all the prisoners by a long shot, but it did include the cell of a certain infamous, green suited super villain.
Back out front, one of the pig orcs watched in dismay as the beam cut through the building. "Oh by hell- come on, we've got to move before we have a full scale prison escape!" the pig orc yelled, motioning a couple of the others with him to make a run for the building. "And would somebody stop that thing already? Where the hell is everyone!?" he added as he ran.
Of the people who were there was Silanea, who watched the scarab starting to stomp closer to the building, and did think of one idea. She looked towards the roof of the building, looking for the quickest way to get up there...
The 'green flares' that had been arcing through the sky from behind the massive city destroyer finally came crashing down towards the city, peppering the circular metropolis like a tossed handful of loose pebbles at a massive scale. In most places impacted, either a building was smashed outright or a whole section of street was torn apart; in some cases, both. It wasn't like there were thousands of them, and they were fairly evenly spread out, but just about everywhere in the city was likely close to at least one of them.
And then, from the smoking and / or burning craters, machines started to rise. There seemed to be three varieties, which were only a bit different in size; all of them shared the traits of being clearly artificial machines, and having three legs. The first type had a look like one might expect to see in a cottage of sorts, with an abnormally large roof,
◊ like they had been designed as a habitat first and just had limbs grafted on as an afterthought. The second and smallest type looked almost like they were designed to be mechanical insects,
◊ complete with big, compound eyes like a fly. The third and largest type had a more sleek design,
◊ with even the main body almost seeming like some kind of marine animal in shape.
The first and second types of machine let out a loudspeaker kind of sound; it almost sounded like someone screaming out, "OOLAA!!" The third type of the machines however, let out a much more droning, ominous, and extremely loud sound.
All three of these different types of tripods then started moving through the city at random, firing heat rays through buildings and causing more destruction.

You are reading this."What is with this City?!" Hibiki shouted out in anger that revved itself up once more as she found that one of her good friends had been tackled by some sort of overgrown worm that seemed to really want to chew on him. There was gun fire of course but that simply meant she needed to attack from range to not get in the line of fire.
Promptly transforming once more, the girl aimed redirected the anchoring points on her legs so that it faced forward instead of grounwards before firing off the telescopic pylons at the alien creature in question with intent to use the momentum to either knock it off of Ben or grab hold of the thing before reeling it towards her, whichever one worked depending on the actions involved.
A whirring sound built up in her gauntlets even as she channeled her inner rage into the Symphogear, the thing having turned into a miniature turbine of high speed rotations that made the very air scream from the friction even as she nocked her arm back in anticipation to punch anything particularly punchable that showed up.
The Taxxon reeled back and screeched in pain, first being shot in the eyes by Jack's assault, then fired at multiple times by Morty, before it was hit by Hibiki and went flying at least fifteen feet back, landing in a pile on the ground, dead. Ben stood, breathing heavily and shaking, then looked back at the others.
"Thanks!" Ben exclaimed, regaining his composure. "This is what the City Knights need, people who have our back!" He was interrupted in his patting-on-the-back by unearthly noise. He looked up and his eyes widened at the tripods who had begun to land. Ben readied his Omnitrix, which had cooled down by the time that Ben had managed to stand.
"I guess this is what they meant by blowing up the city! We can't let these giant things destroy buildings!" He grinned, coming up with a brilliant idea. "But we can get them to blow themselves up! Get me close to the things' legs!" he shouted. "I have just the alien for the task!" At the same time, though, another screech pierced a nearby street. Ben glanced towards it, seeing another Taxxon and a creature that looked like a dinosaur-bird with scythes all over its body
, both of whom moved to advance on the group.
"Looks like the cavalry's here. Cover me! Let's get a move on," Ben told them, moving with haste towards the legs of the nearest Tripod, readying the Omnitrix to go Upgrade.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.I shrugged. "I just happened to think of it, okay. I'm already here after all, nothing stopping me from picking up one extra thing and not just the important stuff. I can grab it later though if you insist."
I packed the extra bag with all the new stuff, and intended to glide off after a quick thanks provided she didn't stop me and at least gave the phaser.

The radio continued to deliver bad news, one of the pig orcs bringing up a tank that was now at the prison. A few crashes outside signaled the arrival of even more destructive machines, and now Makoto was revising her list. Her revolver and Persona just might not cut it if there were tanks out there now. She needed more powerful weapons. Like... Haru's grenade launcher. If Haru could figure out how to use one, then so could she.
Forgetting about Lewis for the moment, Makoto went over to the desk and started writing on a slip of paper. Right, so that was...
- a container of extra revolver pistol ammo
- a hand radio
- a dozen regular glazed donuts in a box
- a thermos of Le Blanc Coffee
- Haru Okumura's Grenade Launcher (she was going to be as specific as possible)
- at least 40 extra grenade rounds
- a bag that can fit everything above in it
As soon as she made sure that she hadn't forgotten anything else, she went over to the Miss Tairee typing at the computer.
"Um, could I possibly get everything on this list as well, please?" Makoto asked her, placing the paper down on the desk.

Rex's statement over the militia channel were met with sarcasm because he wasn't doing enough to stop a separate attack on the prison. He really wanted to answer with some venom of his own but it wouldn't help one bit and the pig orcs were already busy with something important.
"Ugh, it's always the same" Rex started saying, not caring one bit about the destruction of the ship he was causing "Complain, complain, complain. I'm trying to take down this ship and every alien in it but nooo, 'Remember that time you screwed up, Rex?'. Of course I do, all the time"
The alien moved back after firing several shots at Rex's builds but it seemed he was out of ammo right now. Rex took advantage of the situation and collapsed his nunchucks.
"They really think I'm an idiot. Like I can't tell how much people hate me"
After saying that, he built his cannon which ripped part of the ship's interior to use as a projectile.
"I mean, I know I can be a pain in the neck sometimes but, come on. There has to be a middle ground, you know?" Rex looked at the medivac, like he was expecting an affirmative response "I'm trying to do some good here" he crouched and fired.
"Anyway, I'd like to keep talking but I don't want to leave Makoto waiting" he touched the floor of the ship, and used his nanites to try and shut down well, basically, anything he could find. Something had to be vital.

Jack, So Ben's Crazy, Cinema > Outside Cinema
Predictably, the giant bug got obliterated in a hilariously over-the-top fashion. "Is he always like that?" Jack asked Morty, idly gesturing towards Rick. Also, that street formed right in front of them. That was cool. "Also, Mcdonald's is still around in your place? What century are you people from? First Coca-Cola, then this..."
And then a bunch of tripod machines just crashed out of the sky. The house one and the spider one looked positively ridiculous - even by Jack's Elpis-survived standards - but they were still towering and full of weaponry. The third type was just... unnerving. Very Eridian-like, and that was never a good sign.
So of course the kid decided it's a good idea to get close to those tripods. "Kiddo, you are absolutely" And then some decidedly squishy targets showed up for Jack to be useful for; he fired a burst at the Taxxon and one more at the bird-thing before reloading. "fricking bonkers. Anybody ever told you that?" He finished, moving right behind the walking alien superweapon.
"Don't forget to reload, pumpkin!" He called over to Morty once more, recalling his panic attack with the pistol a moment ago.

"I'm coming too!"
Upon seeing Yuna follow Silanea outside, both Gyuki and Kasha immediately stopped whatever they were doing and darted straight after her. Once outside, there was a brief moment where all three stared at the humongous alien scarab with a very wide look in their eyes. Or at least in Yuna's.
The machine was so large and powerful that at first she mistook it for a Vertex; and it certainly would not have looked out of place among them... even if it was quite smaller than most Vertex she had seen and did not float like most Vertex she had seen. Either way, it would take her a lot of effort to bring it down by herself. Silanea, in the meantime, seemed to be staring at... the prison's roof...
She knew exactly what to do.
"Silanea, you going up?" she called out, crouching in front of the lamia to prepare herself for the climb. "I can take you there real quick, just hop up and hold on!"
Although she was not entirely sure she could make the jump with the lamia on her back, she did like her chances. She was planning to climb up to the roof either way, and bringing someone along was a neat plus. Provided Silanea agreed, Yuna would wait for her to hold on, and then leap up with all her might; if she declined, on the other hand... she would jump up to the rooftop either way.
At Jack's question, Morty cast a sidelong look over at his grandfather, who was still yelling incoherently about sauce. "... Y-y-y'know? He's been acting weirder than usual for a - a -"
And then whatever Morty was about to say next was cut off by the drowning hoot of a colossal mechanical war machine striding imperiously past them in the distance like some kind of nightmarishly overgrown octopus, sinewy tentacle-legs carrying it through the streets as it fired bolts of white-hot energy.
"W-what we need is a - a serum to turn myself into a pickle, Morty! I'll become a pickle! I'll call myself - Pickle Rick, Morty! I'll be Pickle Riiiiick!"
"Rick, you're not helping!" shouted Morty, who looked like he was about to tear his hair out from a combination of frustration and bowel-moving terror. "Build something! Make some kind of - invention to get us out of this situation! At least say - say or do something insightful or witty instead of - of spouting unfunny nonsense catchphrases that don't mean anything!"
"Szechuan sauce, Morty!"
As a building burst into flames somewhere behind them, Morty's eyes widened.... and then narrowed into cold hard slits as he slowly, as though gears were starting to turn in his mind, raised the gun towards his grandpa. "Morty, - y-you put down your stupid little popgun and - do what I say."
"Not until you do something that actually help us, Rick! People are gonna die!" screamed Morty. "The entire city is burning around us and all you're going on about is some kind of stupid... I don't even know, stupid McDonald's sauce!"
"Because none of this matters, Morty! Nothing in this city matters! Even if you die you just come back to life!" shouted Rick, jabbing a finger at Morty. "For all this is worth I could just sit in the middle of the street eating McNuggets w-with the Szechuan sauce while you run around with these idiots, crapping your pants and requiring me to bail your stupid ass out of whatever nonsense predicament you and - and your little buddies get into every three hours!"
"Rick..."
"Morty, listen to your grandpa - I know you're too stupid to understand this but-"
Without saying a word, Morty fired a shot right into Rick's gut.

Squigly - Library
Squigly gave the girl a solemn look, and Leviathan seemed a bit uneasy. "So...any other stories?"
"Not at the moment, no."
"Alright then!" The zombie stood up and dusted herself off. "Well, this has been fun, but I'm afraid we're very busy, and—"
For the first time, Squigly noticed the chaos happening outside.
"...On second thought, maybe we should stay here for a while longer."
(holds pool noodle threateningly) Do you want to know what we do to artists?"I suppose you're right. It just seems like an odd priority when you could just as easily come back and get it tomorrow. In fact you might have to if you go out there and die and therefore lose it regardless" Miss Tairee said to Lewis, but nevertheless had the boxset of manga and a phaser appear and go into the bag as well.
After Makoto then came forward with her list of requests, the Miss Tairee took it and quickly read over it, then did some typing. "I can give you something that looks and operates identically to that grenade launcher, but isn't quite as powerful" Miss Tairee mentioned to Makoto as she started typing, as everything Makoto requested started to appear in order on the desk.
Meanwhile, Seirwuosuhr likewise glanced out the windows- as did a lot of people when the muffled horn blaring of one of the larger tripods went through the room- with a worried expression. "That is probably a good decision, yes. It is completely safe in here; this building cannot be harmed today" the Miss Tairee sitting there commented in response to Squigly's statement.
The sangheili shook his gun slightly as he waited for it to cool down, and was just about to aim it at Rex to fire again when the projectile of part of the ship's flooring slammed into his chest, killing him.
As Rex then set to trying to shut the ship down with his nanites, it was a bit more difficult than that. He couldn't quite just take control of the systems outright, as they were literally alien in operation; he could just have his nanites directly sabotage what they came in contact with, but it was a large ship and it would take some time to do that to the whole thing. Immediately nearby there was the lights for the hallway he was in, some energy conduits, and the mechanisms for the door down the hall.
"Oh suck it up! You act like you got BOTH arms blown off!" the little medivac commented from down the hall. "Let's go. Waitin' on you. Let's go" it then repeated, sounding exactly the same each time it said those lines.
The sounds of more footsteps were approaching from the direction the Sangheili had come, with some alien chatter and short, sharp barking noises.
"Uh..." Silanea looked at Yuna, then at herself and her long length and weight. "... Okay, I think I know how this could work" the lamia decided, and then took hold on Yuna's shoulders, but otherwise kept her body on the ground so that Yuna wasn't really supporting her weight. When Yuna jumped, Silanea uncoiled and raised her body up as it happened, almost like the rope trailing behind a thrown grappling hook; that way, only once Silanea had run out of tail length did her weight actually start to pull down on Yuna, and by then she was already almost up to the rooftop, and the momentum from the jump would continue far enough for Yuna to get her feet onto the edge of the roof.
Silanea quickly pulled the rest of her tail up so that Yuna didn't have to hold her, then looked up at the scarab starting to lumber past them, one leg wrecking through a wall of the prison as it went. "Can you do that again to get us onto it?" Silanea asked; the jump was about the same height vertically as before, but now there was some horizontal distance, plus the scarab's back was moving around as it stepped.
Making matters more complicated, there seemed to be aliens moving about on the back of the scarab. A sangheili like the one Rex had just killed inside the large ship, only with red armor, even walked into view and fired a few potshots at the two of them before walking back to go out of view again. Silanea quickly put an arm forward and formed an ethereal shield just in front of them to block the shots, and let it dissipate once the Sangheili was out of view.

You are reading this.At the beginning of entering the Library Reinhardt milled around the Lobby, looking generally out of it from his exposed face which looked distanced and his slacked, weak body stance. This changed when Tairee mentioned his name and her experience with him........well, one of him and thus his attitude pepped up right back to his normal self.
Sure, his soul still burned at the thought of Two's loss and how he had to take out that normal lady but this old man didn't make it through robot war by allowing himself to sink into his head, losing himself in past events and failures! He made it through by growing close to others, by accepting all as his friends, by shattering his way into future! "Greetings miss! I ensure you that I do not recognize you for I would remember a face like that, even at my age," he said to her, smoothly sliding out of his loud normal tone and into a more friendly, almost flirty tone.
He stood silent for a moment, only breaking it with a blushing cheek and realization that this wasn't the best time for this. Quickly moving on, he noticed Makoto and her pile of gained goods so he announced to her, "Going back into battle huh? Hahhahahaha, fantastic! In times like these the world needs more heroes! I would ask to join you but I don't want to slow down you and your Omnic friend!"
Finally, he did notice a rather big man getting ready to leave, one with a classy suit but interesting mask. It reminded Reinhardt of those Mexican gangs he heard about from time to time. Or maybe he was a Omnic. Either way, he smacked Lewis on the back and told him, "Why, at your height I would think you one of my old German army pals! Tell me, are you going back outside to face-down these cruel invaders? Because if so, I offer you the support of Reinhardt the Crusader if you would take it!"

Wait, how powerful was Haru's weapon if it needed to be weakened? Makoto should really ask her about that when she talked to her again...
"Thank you, as long as it can still put a dent in a tank, it'll be fine..." she said as Miss Tairee summoned the objects. She grabbed the bag and began packing everything away, only a little surprised by how much room the small bag had. She was just picking up the grenade launcher to rest on her shoulder when Reinhardt approached her.
"Huh? Oh, yes I am. I was going to see if the prison was still okay and check on a friend of mine." What did he mean by Omnic though? Was he talking about her bike? While Reinhardt was talking with Lewis, Makoto swung the bag over her other shoulder and attempted to leave the library before anything else came up, still a little on edge. The last thing she needed was another argument or incident.
"'s a fair point. But thanks anyway," I said as I packed the phaser and manga into the bag, and glided off toward the door.
Or started to, when upon clearing a few feet some stranger smacked me from behind.
I jolted away from the blow, letting out an instinctive "The fu—?" and turning with glowing hands to face the surprise attacker, actually the armored guy from a few minutes ago, an old man with a German accent from the sound of it. ("Reinhardt". Yes, that'd be easy to remember.) Not exactly the kind of voice you would expect to come out of that thing, but it fit somehow.
Not that that fully occurred to me until after a few seconds of staring at the guy with a tense fighting stance, before my mind caught up to me and I grasped that if he were a threat, he would a) have actually attacked and b) not have begun rambling at me about the German army or something, and c) he would be in a floating soap bubble right now if he actually tried point a.
"Uh," was the first syllable that came from the air directly around me, while I warily relaxed. Or started to. I kept expecting something to happen. "Not technically...the plan's more 'get the normal people to safety' than 'beat up aliens'? Though one sorta leads to the other, so...close enough...?" I anxiously backed away toward the door where I'd come in, until I reached it.
I propped open the door with one hand, leaning backward and outside in an overdramatic fashion. "Hey, guys, someone wants to join us. Don't think he can fly, though, can you? so that idea's out."
i guess you can watch me shitpost i guessLibrary—-> Outside Streets
Makoto slipped out of one of the revolving doors opposite to where Lewis, Louie, and Thomas were, and then took a moment to load the grenade launcher and her pistol with a few rounds. If those 3 legged walkers were prowling around the whole city, she might not have time to prepare before she ran into one. The giant ship that Rex was talking about was pretty visible from her position and shouldn't shift around with the rest of the city, so she settled on looking for the prison first.
She summoned Anat in its bike form and rode off, one hand still holding the grenade launcher in case it was needed. She didn't need both hands to steer anyway. Maybe the building wouldn't be completely destroyed by the time she got there.
"In a tank? If you want to punch through tank armor I would suggest something more specialized than..." the Miss Tairee at the central desks started to say, and trailed off as Makoto was already long gone.
At one of the revolving doors, Louie and Thomas looked to Lewis, then Thomas glanced up at the sky. "You still wanted to fly? I don't know if that's really safe" Thomas said, motioning up at the hundreds of fighters flying about.
"And the ground is so much better right now?" Louie commented, pointing to one of the tripods in the distance.
"We wouldn't have to worry about anything killing us from below. Or gravity killing us" Thomas responded.
There are ways to move about a city if you don't want to get noticed, but there are also ways which are just about guaranteed to get you noticed, and by motorcycle is one of them. It should be to no surprise that one of the tripods saw Makoto; one of the bigger, sleeker ones to be precise. Turning and casually putting one of its tendril-like legs right through a building, it started to move after her, its legs lifting with the loud sound of machinery and setting back down with heavy thumps on the ground. With two relatively smaller tentacles coming from the underside of its main body, it fired blue-ish white beams towards Makoto, raking them across the street in short bursts.
If Makoto got hit, well, the good news was she wouldn't feel that pain for long.
You are reading this."..." Gaping in shock at the fact that the elderly man was hopped up on some hallucinogens of mysterious origins and the fact that his grandson had just SHOT HIM IN THE GUT while everything was going to hell due to the tripod's rampage, Hibiki began to hyperventilate as the horribleness of the situation caught up to her.
Dry retching for a few moments while slumped over and clamping her knees, the Symphogear user trembled for a moment... before breaking out into a run. Panting as worry and dark thoughts, the now rather morose girl began dashing towards Morty in an attempt to try to make sense of the situation to either help Rick if he was still alive even if she didn't know much more than the barebones of actual medical attention out of regular first aid.

Caboose was so very tired from all that had happened. He retreated to the higher floors of the library, where he would remain for an unknown length of time.
City Streets- Lucas Comes Out Of Nowhere
It had been a rough period of time since Lucas had gotten separated from Yoshika and Ciri. After spending most of a day trapped due to a shrunken size and this current day wandering without anything of interest occurring, the psychic child was about ready to just call it quits for the day when the sirens started blaring.
After that point, Lucas had encountered a squad of weird robots using PSI very similar to his own. If it wasn't for the fact that he still had some pudding on hand he surely wouldn't have survived so long on his own. But now, just when he thought that he had escaped from the latest threat, a group of giant robots were on the prowl. The beams they were firing looked just as bad as a certain century ender beam he had encountered at one point.
There wasn't much of a choice. If there was a way to get away from them without being seen, it wasn't easily apparent. Time to fight. He saw that he wasn't alone in this endeavor at least. Someone riding a fast moving vehicle around while being targeted caught his eye. Lucas targeted both the motorcycle rider and himself with a Counter, which would reflect half of any hits taken for a bit. While he wasn't sure how well it'd do when it came to surviving an attack from those things, the reflected damage would surely do something.
He also started trying to make his way closer to the tripods. Darting through the streets and taking cover where he could, his goal was to get within range to try using PK Love Omega on the legs.
Why is a yam attacking me?City Streets
One of the giant, sleek drones walking around and tearing the city up caught sight of her and started to chase, firing a pair of lasers that Makoto did not want to be on the business end of. As it swept the ground, she sped up and moved in a less predictable path to keep out of their way. She felt an odd effect come over her as Lucas used his Counter, reminding her of her own defensive boosts, and the she saw the blonde child making his way towards the tripod. Seeing that he was trying to be stealthy, she didn't call out to him and instead revved her bike's engine to draw more attention to herself.
"I'm over here!" As Anat continued to drive around the lasers, Makoto fired a grenade up at the drone's central body.
"Morty you are about to seriously fuck everything- OH JESUS CHRIST-" Rick swore profusely as the bullet tore through his body. Blood splattered against a nearby wall as Rick grumbled looked down at the wound - which hadn't fatally wounded him against all odds. The fact that the blood was decidedly not red seemed like something of a warning sign.
"Listen to me you son of a bitch, where's Rick?" screamed Morty, jabbing his gun at the thing that was not his grandfather.
Not-Rick sighed, rolling his eyes as he looked around at the group, which was in various stages of screaming, panicking, or shooting at things. "Well. Fuck it. "
Arcane energy crackled from his palms as his eyes continued to roll... right back into his skull until they were nothing but white as the body began to deform and grow like a time-lapse photography of a tree sprouting. Lanky human melded together into clawed, bony talons; Rick's labcoat melted into mottled bluish skin as his skull exploded like a blooming flower, revealing a sharp mass of jagged teeth. Within seconds, the thing that had called itself Rick stood unveiled as a tall, four-armed alien wreathed in a tattered hood
◊, spines erupting from its body.
" Well done, child. How long did it take for you and your so-called 'friends' to figure out your sad excuse for a grandparent had been replaced? " it rumbled, voice oozing malice with every syllable.
"Where's Rick?!" screamed Morty, keeping the gun trained on the alien - only for the thing to yank the weapon out of his hand with a tendril of magical energy, holding it aloft as though daring anyone to try something.
" He put up a fight. Not that it meant much in the end. I expect you'll find him mouldering in an alley somewhere - numbing his mind, rotting his senses. Such talent squandered. "

And just like that, everything fell apart.
There was a gunshot behind him, and Ben looked to see that Morty had shot... Rick?!
Hibiki screamed in fury and anguish and rushed off to attack the walker that Ben was going to try and hijack, simultaneously revealing the group's position and making it so that Ben would not be able to hijack the walker.
"No, what are you guys— ugh!" Ben exclaimed, seeing the creature that took Rick's place. "What is that?! Hey, big and ugly, knock it off!" Ben readied his Omnitrix and slammed his hand on the face of the watch. There was a bright flash of green light and where Ben once stood, XLR8 now stood. He dashed up to the creature who took Rick's place and grabbed him.
"Time to take you for a spin," XLR8 exclaimed, starting to run in circles with the grabbed Dire Wraith in an attempt to dazzle it, then he threw the wraith towards the Taxxon and the Hork-Bajir, who were being suppressed by Jack's shots. The Dire Wraith was tossed on top of the two, which caused them to collapse, the Dire Wraith dazed but definitely still alive. "You're still up?! C'mon!" XLR8 yelled.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.Jack, Outside The Cinema - Or How I'm The Only Sane Person In A Group Again (Sorry, Athena)
Things... took a turn. Morty used the Jack-acquired gun to shoot his... grandfather, apparently, in the gut. The grandfather was kind of a dick to him, to be fair, and he was increasingly more unhinged, and Jack couldn't help but recall the story his boss shared to them the other day; the one about his grandmother and her sawaxe.
Hibiki took it about as well as the body double expected her to (read: like a Scav taking a Torgue shotgun blast to the face). Then she went bugfuck insane. Because of course she did. Still, it had its good uses; it seemed she went right for the tripod's throat - metaphorically speaking - giving him and Ben more time to execute Plan Get Stomped On (Maybe Not) the kid was so eager for. "You're doing great, pumpkin!" He called after the Symphogear before paying Morty a moment... just in time for Rick to become Not-Rick.
Jack listened idly for a while, then leveled the gun upon the alien and let her rip, firing a salvo of bullets that only got increasingly more accurate - and aimed at the enemy's head. "Smartass. You might wanna back up, trooper!" He called to Morty, continuing to hose the alien down with bullets until one could certainly say the thing was deader than his dreams of ever living a normal life again.
The medivac had had enough of Rex and basically told him to stop whining. He just sighed in response.
"I know. Geez, you are starting to sound like Tairee"
He kept trying to learn how the ship worked and how to take it down, but shock of all shocks, an alien design didn't have he most intuitive of systems. At least he had access to the basic stuff and that was good enough for now. While he entertained the idea of trying to mess with the lights and pull some kind of practical joke, the medivac decided it was time to move on.
"Yeah, I know I should focus. Everyone tells me that, especially Eve. Maaaybe she is right after all. Just a little. A very tiny little. Microscopic even"
Rex opened the door with his nanites and built his bike. Just in time to hear a bunch of other aliens coming after his head. He put on his goggles.
"These guys sound pissed and I don't about you, but I don't plan on staying here to see what they can do. I'm just saying, way too many aliens movies have them laying eggs inside people and that's just... eww" just as he told the medivac that, he sped off through the door.

Oh.
"Oh."
Well, that put a damper on things, didn't it. I uneasily went back to watching for spawns, standing there fidgeting in an uncomfortable silence until the last few stragglers in the crowd were close to being safely inside. At which point I broke it again.
"...I'm gonna get some stuff in case we run into him," I mumbled, lifting off and gliding inside.
I headed straight for the desks, landing and taking one of the shield pens from the box still there. "Mind if I have another phone, and another bag?" Should I get anything else? I thought about it for a moment, remembering Ben had to turn back and wait to switch to another alien. "Maybe one of those phasers the militia use, and a Sailor Moon manga box set?" (I thought about asking for DNA samples of species with superpowers, but nothing in particular came to mind.)
