Sunset Shimmer| Outside |"Nah, we just glow!"

Sunset shook her head, brushing her hand lightly over the tops of her horse ears. "This is a manifestation of magic from Equestria. It has nothing to do with becoming a demon." When Cole talked about what it was like to become a demon, she winced rather visibly. "I try not to think about it anymore," she said morosely. "It's not a part of me I like to look at."

She stood bolt upright when he mentioned not worrying about him. "Cole, I'm going to worry about you. You're three, and worrying is what friends are for."

When no one responded, he huffed and was about to try and open the door when Makoto pointed out a hole in the door. He frowned.

"It's probably a mouse hole," Ben muttered. "I'd follow you in there but I've gotta hold on to this joker. So I'll try and find another way in that I can fit," he explained, before Makoto ducked into the prison. Ben started to walk around the building, searching for an alternate entrance. The place seemed pretty barricaded though, so things were going to be difficult. Instead he sat down by one of the doors and pulled out his walkie talkie, carefully making sure to hold onto the robot. He turned the walkie talkie to the Militia's channel.

"Militia, come in? It's Ben," Ben said into the walkie talkie. "I'm outside the prison. I caught one of the assassins from the other day, can you guys let me in so I can put him in a cell or something?" he asked.

Arcade stared at Rick as he rambled on. His expression switched between a blank, unimpressed stare and utter bewilderment. Once Rick showed his greed, all he got in return was a halfhearted glare before Arcade turned back to the ground again.

Construction site

Garrett only now noticed that Gon had approached him. He blinked a few times, not sure how to answer the assassin's question. "Uh..." Then, from a corner of his eye, he noticed Not-So-Little Spiderbee flying above.

He immediately focused on her, and began waving his hands and shouting: "Hey! Lady! Over here! You got a minute?" Still, with him so tiny and her so high up, he couldn't be sure she'd notice him.

"Can you try and attract her attention somehow?" he asked Gon. For his part, he attempted to improve his chances of being noticed by shooting two of his noisemaker arrows straight towards Spiderbee. They were of course tiny and not very loud, but maybe they'd help.

Gon, helping Garrett

"Give me a minute."

Gon aimed the beam rifle at an arc-based trajectory towards the direction of Spiderbee. Following Garrett's lead, he fired a short burst near it, hoping to get its attention.

"Here goes."

Gon inhaled and exhaled before he slightly pulled the trigger, watching the beam burst go towards it and land near its direction.

"...I wish you wouldn't worry about me. It...feels bad, to know that people worry about me. I don't like taking up room in people's heads. I...it feels like being troublesome, or...like I'm in the way. I-I don't want to be troublesome anymore. I'm trying not to be."

He glanced back down at her. "Well...your magic is nice. I guess you're...a shapeshifter? I haven't met many shapeshifter mages."

Wells backed up and ducked down on the chair, so that Riddler couldn't really see him from the floor anymore, and grabbed his walkie talkie. "Someone will be around in a bit, Ben; we're a little busy at the moment" Wells said into it.

Fastanook moved back from the door and around a few of the chairs, then made a sudden lunge across the room at a very abrupt speed, turning it into a baseball homebase style slide and reaching a hand out to scoop up Riddler as he passed by.

If Spiderbee noticed the arrows, which didn't make it all the way up to her before losing momentum and arcing back down, she didn't seem to give much specific response to it. The shot from the beam rifle though didn't arc since it was a beam, and instead hit Little Spiderbee in the arm, making her flinch and generally react to it like someone who just got bitten by a bug. Ant Man waved an arm. "Woah woah hey, why are you shooting at her?! Just give me a second, jeez" Ant Man said, then turned and ran a little bit away from Garrett and Gon. Then suddenly, Ant Man abruptly grew in size until he was about the size of a normal person, which of course was relatively gigantic compared to Garrett and Gon. "Hey lady, down here!" Ant Man yelled up, waving his arms.

With a curious expression, Little Spiderbee descended to the ground, and Ant Man motioned at Garrett and Gon. "These guys wanted to talk to you about something" Ant Man told her simply.

"Oh, hi there!" Little Spiderbee said, crouching down and looking at the two.

"Checking..." Tester said, and went silent for a couple moments as his screens flashed quickly. "Sekreh Tairee's boss removed your 'Mankai Form' when you were taken to the city, to make you fit more equally with the other residents. He also removed your Sange so that you cannot cripple any more of your senses, reduced your overall strength, and made your faery shield no longer invincible" the AI then explained.

"Similar effects have been done to plenty of residents in the city, including most of you present here. Rex, Curly, and Lewis also have their strengths reduced, Two's strength no longer builds over time and the effects of her song are removed, Caboose's armor is not as capable as in his home universe and the automatic aiming feature of his assault rifle Freckles was removed, Curly's weapons cannot get stronger, and Sans' judgement was more or less turned off due to incompatibilities with the moral situations of other universes" Tester elaborated further.

Prison

After inspecting the front of the jail, Makoto gave up on getting through this particular door and went to look around the rest of the building. It took a lot of walking, but she found a second door around the corner, and this one was still cracked open. She took a few bullets out of her pocket and loaded the rifle with them, just in case she ran into trouble, and then ran under the chair acting like a doorstop and into the prison.

"We will now begin the next turn, starting with free actions and defensive actions" Tester then announced to the party, as one of his screens lit up with info:

Something was going wrong with Two. The buzzing sensation came back to her head, and became overwhelming; the flower was blooming. She had to fight it, she had to... she had to keep control and kill everyone!

Grinning with a murderous and mad expression, Two turned her attention towards Rex.

Rex's body morphed on its own to form the smack hands, while Curly's spur appeared in her hand and charged up.

"We move on to special actions" Tester continued.

Rick and Arcade both pointed an arm towards the melee near the root, and had those white orbs of light appear in their outstretched hand. The orbs then shot out as beams into Two and Yuna, healing them both slightly.

"Now melee attacks" Tester went on.

Rex did a quick pirouette of sorts, swinging one of his large hands out wide for extra momentum, and brought it slamming down onto the Fighter. The Fighter, with his focus on Yuna, didn't see it until too late and was staggered and forced down to one knee for a moment, but then stood back up, still able to fight.

The Fighter took a step forward and swung his sword at Yuna, but she caught the sword with one hand.

And using that grip to force the Fighter's sword aside, Yuna stepped in and landed a slug of a punch into his helmet, forcing him back a step again.

"Well done. Now to ranged attacks" Tester then mentioned.

Sans pointed an arm towards the Fighter, and bones started to sprout up through the ground beneath him. The Fighter saw them and made a roll to one side, but still took a few through the leg as he went.

Caboose's rifle appeared in his hand and he opened fire on the Fighter, who raised his shield to take the barrage, but one shot went to the side of the shield and clipped into his left arm, making him flinch.

"Now is charge attacks" Tester then mentioned.

Two's massive sword appeared in hand, and with a mad howl she lunged at Rex, swinging the sword overhead. At the last moment, Rex managed to bring one of his smack hands up to block the sword with the back of the hand, though the sword still dug in over half a foot into the metal.

Lewis floated back a few feet, then lunged forward at the Fighter again, trying to add momentum into the attack to hit harder. But the Fighter brought his shield around again and blocked the blow, taking a step back from the force, but unharmed.

"We conclude the turn with movement" Tester finished, and Curly moved herself over to the other side of the root from the fighting, though could still see the melee from there. Standing next to the root, without any of the Guilts being in the way to distract, seeing the shape inside from up close was much easier. It seemed to be a lamia, though not a fully grown one, curled up around itself almost like a human would hug their knees; just like the times Silanea had broken down crying. Though Tester said the turn was over, one of his screens showed one last bit of info:

Slowly, Two's high came down, and she could start thinking normally again.

The Fighter looked at Two, and then at all the others, processing his options for a few moments. Then he looked out towards Sans, bracing his legs and readying his sword.

Not far past the door, there was a militia member standing there listening to the chatter on the militia channel from his walkie talkie. He looked up at Makoto with a somewhat alarmed expression. "Stop!" the militia member said, drawing his phaser and raising it up to aim at Makoto.

Prison

Makoto froze as the sight of the phaser, and then dropped the rifle on the ground beside her. The safety was still on, so she didn't worry about it accidentally going off.

"W-wait, hold on! I just came here with one of the City Knights, but no one answered at the gates, so I was trying to find another way in." She really hoped this guy didn't have a twitchy trigger finger.

Sunset Shimmer| Waiting For A Shoe To Drop| "Ah think you're misunderstanding something there, darlin'"

Sunset shook her head. "Cole, you're not understanding. I'm worried about you because I want to be. You're not being troublesome, I promise." She shook her head. "It's because it's the magic of friendship, she answered confidently. But it's not quite ... shape-shifting. We call it ponying up."

"I do understand," Cole said rather solemnly. "It...it is nice to be cared about but...you don't even know me. I..."

He trailed off a little, then just shook his head. "...why do you call it 'ponying up'?"

The militia member looked uncertain, but did eye his walkie talkie for a moment as he considered what he'd been hearing on the channel. "Don't move a muscle, alright?" the militia member told Makoto, still keeping the phaser aimed at her as he moved one hand to the walkie talkie. "That girl that came through just showed up at the side entrance. She says she came here with the City Knights" he reported on the walkie talkie, and waited.

Sunset Shimmer| Streets | "That's what friends are for, silly!"

Sunset shrugged. "You're a child in an unusual situation. I'm going to worry about you. As for the name ... well, these," she said, pointing to the orange ears in her hair, "are pony ears, and this," she pointed to her longer hair, "hairstyle is called a ponytail. Hence, ponying up."

"...do ponies in your world also go all...glittery? Back home we had glitterdust but...it mostly made people very sick and made a few people catch on fire. ...please don't do that. I burned to death here once and it was bad. I wouldn't want you to do that."

He glanced up and around again, and made a slightly relieved sound at the familiar sight of the library, finally, and started running towards it. "Maker...good...we'll at least have our best chance in there..."

Sunset Shimmer| Outside Library |"Fire! Fire ruins clothes!"

Sunset winced. "I don't think our ponying up causes us to get set on fire. At least, I hope not. As for glittery ponies, apparently the Crystal Ponies used to, but none of the Equestrians do. Except the Princesses."

She looked up at the large glass building ahead of her. "That's a ... very big library."

"Yes, it's...the safest place in the city. That...doesn't always make it safe. But...but Miss Tairee is supposed to always be here now...s-so maybe it will stay that way even if tomorrow is terrible."

He headed for the nearest door, letting out a soft sigh. "I do not want to stay here all the time, but...it seems as though it keeps being...what is necessary."

"Tristen" had maybe one turn in him at most, and like any rpg player decided he wanted to at least look cool in his last moments before losing the campaign, which meant charging at sans to try and poke him with a sharp stick.

Between our luck and his sheet, he actually had a good chance of pulling it off if the short skeleton didn't actively try to avoid it. Y'know, assuming something else didn't kill the guy first. I pointed at him and gestured to the root where Curly now was.

A glance around, and then at sheets. There was a chance someone was going to get friendly fired in my immediate vicinity. Possibly me. But the shadowy demon was on its last limbs anyway, so did it really matter...? "Hey. Try stepping on him again. Maybe you'll trip and fall again, and it'll be funny, But you can dodge if you get another sword aimed at you."

I sighed. "Same thing as last turn, but I'm not charging. You girls try to run at him again, the rest of you shoot.."

Sunset Shimmer| Outside Library|"Library? Library. Library!"

Sunset looked at the library ahead of her. A safe haven, apparently. Based on what she had seen in Cole's head, she should be grateful that there was one at all. Miss Tairee must've been the librarian. "I'm sure that you won't have to stay here all the time."

Cole sighed a little, getting to the door and more or less managing to back his way through it without jostling his hat too much. "No...it...I probably will end up just staying here. This is...what I agreed to be, when I decided on becoming a child. This is what I wanted, and...with it comes being unable to really...do anything anymore. That is...that is something I have to accept."

He turned around and looked up and around at the inside of the library from this vantage point, then lifted the hat a bit to give Sunset a better look at it. "It sounded like you liked the idea of a library...this is it. There are books upstairs, lots of them."

Sunset Shimmer|Library| "So many books..."

"Everyone has something they can do, child or not," Sunset said reassuringly. She looked up at the many shelves, all five layers of them. "Libraries can be good, it's true, but unlike someone I could name, I like to learn by going out and getting my hands dirty. This is an impressive library, though."

Gon with Spiderbee

Gon sighed in frustration when he saw the beam shots strike at it.

"Well, gotta remember that." He muttered.

"My apologies." The assassin spoke to Spiderbee. "My colleague and I were trying to get your attention. Apologies for the shot, I was trying to get your attention by shooting near you."

Two, D:, Mindscape

"My... my strength doesn't grow anymore?" She tilted her head when Tester mentioned some of the things they couldn't do. "That's... that's great news! Oh, that's incredible!" Perhaps this wasn't the reaction anyone would expect, but for Two it was a troublesome problem taken care of. No more taking doors off hinges. No more having to be extremely careful not to hurt someone she hugged.

Her song was missing too, but it didn't bother her much. With friends like these, she didn't need a miraculous power when they could solve problems the old-fashioned way. She much preferred that. Plus, that also meant Egregori and Raphael could take a well-deserved break from Watching and-

Two reeled back with a gasp when the roll proved fruitless this time. Her head became a bloody haze as she clutched her temples for a moment, trying to fight off this evil feeling in the back of her mind.

The next thing she knew her blade was still dug in Rex's metal arms. The bluenette blinked a few times before she stumbled back, the expression of dumb disbelief on her face. "Oh no..." She barely let out a voice as her eyes darted over her allies, her friends. Gone was the earlier happiness; now she was just anxious. "I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean to..."

Truly Rex's sheet had lots of strange names on it. Things like Rex Ride and Funchuckles and Smack Hands... but there was something else in that sheet that caught Yuna's undivided attention.

"... emotionally unstable?"

Fortunately for Rex, Tester's answer about the Mankai was enough to distract Yuna from what she had just read... although something from what had just been said did bother the young girl quite a lot. And it was not precisely about the Mankai itself.

"...invincible?" she asked, visibly confused and curious in equal measures. "Wait, what's Sange? Is that what my friends and I are going through?"

Well, on the plus side, it seemed like she would not need to worry about that for the time being, and hopefully she'd be able to learn enough to share with her friends as well.

Also, the turn's events netted some pleasant surprises. Not only was she able to protect herself from her opponent's strike, but she had finally been able to actually land a successful hit, even if that shadow's helmet had lessened the blow a little. On the other hand, Two wasn't doing so well, which meant they had to end the fight as quickly as possible. But first... she had a friend to look after.

"It's okay, we know," the pink-haired heroine said, pulling Two in a warm hug and thoroughly refusing to let her reassuring smile disappear. "We'll just have to beat him before it happens again. So don't worry about it, okay? Everything's gonna be fine, I can feel it!"

She also made a few hand motions for Rex to join them if he wished. He was the victim, after all, and emotionally unstable. And also Lewis, so he wouldn't feel left out.

Tester's answer to whatever Mankai was turned out to be more interesting to Rex than he expected, because it was kind of related to him. See, almost everyone was weaker in the city to level the playing the field.

"I knew it! You guys made me weaker. No wonder the fights here have been more difficult than usual" Of course, that was a big shock on its own right but it was more surprising to hear that apparently Yuna had some problems of her own "Wait, what's this about crippling her senses?"

Regardless, the turn had already started Rex wasn't wrong when he said he would make the Fighter feel a lot of pain, and he was actually surprised to see he caused so much damage.

"This is too easy!"

The turn wasn't over just yet and Two's insanity finally got to her, it was bound to happen sooner or later. But of course she had to attack none other than Rex himself. Luckily, he managed to defend himself but still got stabbed—real hand or not, the pain was real.

She was understandably affected by it and tried to apologize but apparently it was not easy for her to pronounce words after getting forced to attack a friend.

"Hey, it's cool, I get hit a lot harder on a daily basis. And you didn't actually hurt me anyway"

Lewis meanwhile, was already thinking about the next turn. He joked that Rex should try kicking the Fighter because the possibility of him tripping again was hilarious. Rex wasn't above joking about bad luck but there was a time and place, plus Lewis couldn't be the one talking about awful rolls.

"Yeah and maybe you will actually hit something for once"

Meanwhile, Yuna assured Two that everything was okay and hugged her. Since the Fighter was at death's door, Two wasn't going to be forced to attack her allies for much longer. She needed to distract her mind with something else and Rex didn't feel that joining the girls' hug was the right move.

"...well, if you wanna make up for it I'm thinking of changing my order from a cheeseburger to meatloaf and mashed potatoes"
