CoLC crossover RP, main thread

Sans tried in vain to focus the group back to the task at hand, pointing out they were discussing food while in the middle of a challenge that would bring back an entire village of people. Of course, he also mentioned Silanea's food preferences and let slip the fact that they had gone out to watch a movie together.

"Oh, you put the moves on her? I knew you were up to something" Rex joked.

Meanwhile, Arcade had obviously never heard of real cheese since he was still picturing it as the second half of mac n' cheese.

"What? No, that barely counts as cheese. Actual cheese comes in wheels or these individual wraps made of plastic"

Sunset Shimmer | Buffet | "So you used to be you and you, and now you're just you? I see." "I don't."

Sunset blinked once more, doing her best to comprehend what Cole had just said. "Okay.... I think I get it... I think." She smiled at the clearly sleepy fo-col-child. "They are. Celestia and Luna rule with fairness and love, both as Princesses and Principals." She laughed, not unkindly. "Tired, are you?"

"There is no way for you to leave the city on your own, no. There are currently two ways to go home; be chosen at random to go home early, or wait until the twenty ninth day when the experiment will end and everyone will be sent back to their homes. Today is currently the eighteenth day" Miss Tairee explained to Ring Man.

"Any other questions?" Miss Tairee then asked him.

The man Garrett spotted was tiny, even by the day's current standards; of the ants around him, the smaller ones were like dogs, while the larger ones were like horses. Also, he was wearing an odd suit.◊

"The ants? They're with me, to help me with my half of the challenge. Me and them against whatever team comes up against us to build the taller tower" Ant Man said, motioning at the two piles of wood blocks. "If I were you, I'd want to get some more help before taking us on. Though there's no penalty for losing, so" he continued, and gave a shrug.

Dashing along the walkway going through the rather plain open yard, the closest entrance for Riddler was the front door, just up a couple of stairs to reach the little raised porch of sorts in front of it. They were far from insurmountable, but it did delay him slightly. Thankfully, the front door was propped open with a chair, so Riddler wouldn't have to struggle with that.

Inside the front door was some kind of visitor lobby. So it was a room with a bunch of waiting chairs; there was a counter built into the far wall; or perhaps cut out of it. But that counter was much too high for Riddler to be climbing any time soon. Off to one side was a set of two doors to mens' and womens' restrooms, but they were closed. On another side was a grated door leading to a hallway, which was open. There was also two more security cameras in this room, up in opposite corners.

There was also steps of someone or something that wasn't shrunken approaching from the open door to the hallway. It sounded similar to dog paws, but the pattern wasn't quite right.

It was around this time that Ben and the others with him happened to finally spot the prison around a turn as they came to an intersection.

"You may feel free to hug, since you are in melee range" Tester mentioned to Yuna and Two, then had his screens flash quickly for a moment. With another pixellation effect, and pack of onion rings appeared next to Rick. Tester then waited a bit, presumably to let the girls enjoy their hug before moving on to the next turn.

Two, Food Discussion, Mindscape

Suddenly, everybody's mood picked up as most various foods were discussed. All the new recipes to try out, the dishes Two has never heard about... it was frankly making her head spin a little. All the propositions, the suggestions, the discussions about cheese...

"Ah, I've never heard of cheeseburgers." She admitted sheepishly. "Are they anything like ordinary sandwiches?" But then again, Arcade seemed reluctant to use any cheese in a food. Apparently in his world cheese was nothing but a dusty powder...? "Oh no, Mr. Arcade, that's awful." Two shook her head resolutely. "Whoever advertised that cheese must have tricked you. Me and Lewis" As it turned out, the pinkish skeleton was also an avid cook. "will introduce you to all the varieties we can get our hands on! It's a promise."

Oh right, Rex was right here, that was true. "Here, a hug!" Tester even allowed them to take a moment too. As such, the nanite user would find himself lifted off the ground as Two spun with him, arms wrapped around him and laughing mirthfully. Then it was Yuna's turn; with her the bluenette tried to be slightly gentler, but it was still a warm, tight hug nonetheless (at least not as bad as it was earlier). "Ah, I don't know what udon is either. You'll have to run me through with all these recipes..." She admitted once she let the magical girl go, nearly bouncing in place from happiness. She was on fire, in the best possible way.

"Ah, there's so much to do, to choose from. It's a little scary." Two finally said, scratching the back of her head. "But if Silanea likes meat, we'll make the best meat dish we can think of, and we'll make it so that everybody will have something they like! Lemonade too!" In her excitement, she must have missed the bit where gasoline was explictly referred to as inedible, just happy that she'd be able to make something that suited everybody.

"Alright, we will now proceed with the next turn. We start with free actions and defensive actions" Tester then announced, as one of his screens lit up with info:

Two continued to feel normal for the most part; a slight odd buzzing in the back of her head perhaps, but nothing major. One of Tester's other screens showed some more info:

The Fighter continued to brace himself, while the Sorceress' orb at the top of her staff flashed, and she was surrounded with a new defensive bubble.

"Now special actions" Tester continued.

Sans pointed an arm at the Sorceress, then swept it to one side.

The Sorceress was suddenly yanked to one side, forced to brace herself lest be sent tumbling around the inside of her own bubble like a load of laundry in a broken drier. She stood no chance of keeping the orb from scraping over the ground and rocks, flashing a few times as it took the punishment.

"Once again there are no normal melee attacks. We move to ranged attacks" Tester went on.

Rick's laser pistol appeared in hand, and he shot it rather well into the Sorceress' orb, but the shot bounced off, seemingly harmlessly.

Caboose's assault rifle appeared and he opened fire on the Rogue as the Rogue started to charge towards Sans. One hit pegged the Rogue's head in the side, and the Rogue fell forward, wailing out unnaturally like the other Guilts had. His eyes extinguished, the rest of his body dissipated like water spilling forward after being thrown out of a bucket, and then a moment later the wailing trailed off.

"That is the third one you have killed by bringing their HP to exactly 0. We move on to charge attacks" Tester informed the party.

Two charged forward at the Sorceress, her sword appearing in hand, and once again swung it wide but somewhat clumsily at the orb around her. But this time it just bounced off harmlessly with an intense flash of light from the orb.

Rex came charging in after Two did, making a mighty leap over the intoner to bring his sword down in a large arc down onto the orb. With another flash, the orb shattered, forcing Rex and Two back a few steps.

Lewis came blazing in though not as from far away, swinging one arm around in a wild haymaker as he floated right up to the Sorceress. Still staggering from the burst of the orb, the Sorceress didn't have time to avoid the blow slamming into her torso, and was flung into the ground to die in much the same manner as the others had; unnatural wailing, eyes going out, body dissipating, and then the wailing stopping.

"That effectively concludes the turn" Tester mentioned, as Curly and Yuna charged into this big mosh now as well, but didn't make any attacks. Tester's screen showed one more bit of info:

The Fighter, now all alone, looked at the gathered party facing him down; though his eyes weren't very visible in his helmet, the red glow of them continued to suggest nothing but anger. He twirled the sword for a moment and took up a combat ready stance, shield forward, sword ready to strike.

Rex and Lewis seemed to have gotten the wrong idea from what Sans said, which wasn't exactly something that surprised him much.

"she was feeling down after losing her points in the wish day and i wanted to make her feel better. did you already forget i was the physical embodiment of her resentment a while ago? why the heck would she want to date me?" He spoke in a rather flat tone of voice.

The rest of the turn went about as well as he expected it to. Only the Fighter was left and well, that sure was a lot of HP to burn through.

"ok, first things first, tester, i want to move two over to where the fighter is with my telekinesis, gently," said Sans, looking up at the AI "i don't think i need to tell anyone what to do at this point, though actually..." He looked at Arcade and Caboose's sheets. "i think i might."

He took one last glance through the sheets just in case there was something he missed.

"curly, yuna, use the spur and hero punch since they halve defense. rex, two, lewis, just do the same thing. rick, portal yourself and arcade closer so you target the fighter. arcade, caboose, shoot him," he instructed, making sure to point at the Fighter so Caboose would understand who he had to shoot.

"Lewis, I wanted to finish her off" Curly complained teasingly as was moved and the wailing ceased. Now that just left the Fighter, who admittedly had a lot of HP to go with his defense, but they'd whittle that down soon enough unless the dice were feeling mean.

"Yeah, Charged Spur on the Fighter, I've been waiting to use it on one of these guys since we got here" the robot called back for both Tester and to Sans

Mindscape

"Bye!" Caboose said to the Rogue, wondering about when he'd next meet his new friend. With only one left it should've been obvious what to do, so Caboose said "I shoot the rogue... oh, OK Mr. Skeleton. I shoot that guy."

Really, it was simpler that way.Time for them to just group up and hit it till it dies. A quick sentence said to Rex in response to what he said about Church before he went back to his art. "Church is my best friend! And best friends play jokes on each other sometimes. Friendship is about realizing that no matter what mean things they say or do, they still love you."

Back to his art. Two and Yuna were completed, so he started adding Sheila and Freckles in his original form.

Cole grunted a noise that might have been affirmative...or might have just been displeasure, it was rather difficult to tell, honestly. He rubbed at his eyes with the back of his hand before looking back to her. "So...you have the same rulers, in both of your worlds, but they are different in each? You will probably do well in the city then. A lot of people have had difficulty in adjusting to the changes that come on from suddenly being...thrown to somewhere that is completely new."

He looked around again, then let out a soft sigh. "If you like, I can take you to...somewhere else. I'm not sure where else you might like to go, but...so long as I'm able to help, I'd like to."

Ben raised his eyebrows and looked around, moving towards the entrance of the prison. He knocked on the door, from the outside.

"Guys?" Ben asked, still making sure to keep a tight hold on the unconscious robot in his hand. "I caught a bad guy, he was trying to kill people and help this crazy plant lady burn down the hospital, what should I do with him?" Ben asked. He looked down at his walkie talkie. He could try and contact the Militia directly, though he would have to let go of the robot in order to do so, and who knows what would happen if he did.

"Whoa! Forgot about the super strength" Rex said as Two literally picked him up with a hug "Not that I'm complaining"

The turn started and everything went swimmingly. There were a few bad rolls here and there but the group managed to defeat the Sorceress and the Rogue in the same turn.

Even without saying anything, the Fighter was clearly pissed. Good.

"Look at that, you are all alone now. I guess it's only fair"

Meanwhile, Caboose looked away from the floor long enough to address the group's concerns and assure them Church was his friend and that friends always pulled pranks on each other.

"Look, I have a friend that likes to prank me all the time but taking advantage of you is going too far"

Sans was still preoccupied with giving orders but he did take the time to shoot down the idea of him dating Silanea. After all, her Resentment had his form so she obviously despised him. The skeleton never denied liking her, just used her warped feelings as an excuse.

"There's a thin line between love and hate. Come on, you'd make a great couple. She's tall, slim, pretty, and can make these sick blades. And you are funny"

Arcade's only response to the explanation of what cheese really is was a soft, "oh." He regarded the ensuing battle with the standard level of interest. At Sans's instruction he said, "I'll go with Rick and shoot the fighter."

Oh my god. "Oh my god." Arcade genuinely didn't know what cheese was. "No, cheese is this milk product. You add bacteria and chemicals to it to turn it into this solid-ish thing and then you can put it on food. The exacts depend on the type of cheese but that part's a constant."

I threw my hands up at sans. "Hey, I don't know, You could've done it on the beach day, it's not like I met you until the day after."

More importantly, turns.

The good thing about piling is that it virtually guarantees someone is going to land a hit. The sorceress held out for a good while considering all the attacks being thrown at her, but eventually her ally, her shield, and she fell, in that order.

Surprisingly, I was the one who did the killing blow.

Technically I don't think my immediate reaction qualifies as a smirk without a mouth, but 'small smirk' feels less awkward to say than 'slight narrowing of the eyes in a faintly smug and contemptuous manner', so for simplicity's sake I'm using 'smirk'.

Then Curly cracked a joke. "Too bad, we all did." I looked at the only one of this stereotyped shadow party still left. "Except you."

Fitting. The one responsible for all this being the last enemy. Who could've predicted.

Okay, stop taunting the fighter already. I gave sans a quick "roger" and what the fuck was wrong with this dude's self-preservation instinct.

"Uh, yeah, no. I'd be pretty mad if a 'friend,' say, willingly made an attempt on my life. Not that that happened or anything."

I lightly kicked Rex's ankle.

Rex sure was being insistent on this whole thing although Sans could tell that he was aiming to tease him, well, Sans could only help Rex knew what he was getting himself into.

"if watching a movie together means there's romance involved, then you two must have been dating for a while now," said Sans, glancing at Rex and Lewis, smirking, "i guess you had a fight a while back, but, y'know, that happens in the best relationships, especially when you're playing with fire." He winked.

Construction site

"Your half of the challenge, eh?" Garrett assumed that this lil' guy was this day's "boss". He seemed quite articulate and intelligent for a boss, and unlike the previous ones, he wasn't actively trying to disembowel or humiliate anyone. One could almost, almost, feel bad to sabotage his construction progress. The blocks burned by the floran earlier had now repaired themselves, which probably meant that the building material couldn't be destroyed... but that didn't mean the rival's tower couldn't be knocked down.

The ant-man pointed out that Garrett wouldn't accomplish much on his own. "Good point," Garrett conceded. He idly wondered if there was anyone he could recruit to the cause. Rex was out cold and it was a toss-up when would he wake up, Yoshika was nowhere to be found, and Ben went off to jail to fill his daily heroism quota.

Hmm... Come to think of it, just about anyone who wasn't tiny should be able to beat those ants in today's challenge. Garrett looked around to see if anyone taller than a foot or so happened to be passing by.

The humor in Sans's voice was lost on Arcade. He lifted his head in surprise and looked from Rex to Lewis and back again.

After a few seconds he called out to Lewis, "you... you c-ca-aaan do b-better..."

"Are you calling me a cheater, sans?" I retorted dryly, not amused but not offended either.

Mindscape

Still not seeing a problem with anything from what they were saying, Caboose said quite happily to Lewis "Yeah, uh, I guess you just are worse about grudges. When Church was killed he wasn't angry at Tucker, who was the one who definitely did it. He was more worried about his girlfriend Texas when he became a ghost."

He was starting to think about the possible food. Caboose really could stomach almost anything, but good food was obviously good. Maybe it would even beat Donut's food made from base-grown ingredients.

Two, Mindscape

So it seemed so far everything was going smoothly. Of course, there was the problem of her insanity to concern herself with, but apparently Sans could circumvent that by moving her right to the Fighter. In case she wouldn't pass the check, she'd still be attacking the right person, and there was a lot to attack. 70 hp was a lot to dig through.

Still, Two held faith that they would be able to beat him in two turns at worst. Something else was worrying her however; that being Caboose's relationship with Church, his self-proclaimed best friend. Between everybody's reactions and the bits that reached her, it seemed like a one-way street of a relationship...

"Caboose, um... I have a question." She asked the blue sim trooper with a worried tone. "Why... do you think Church is your best friend? Oh, and I guess I'll be attacking the Fighter normally if I'm going to be within range anyway." The bluenette nodded at Sans gratefully.

"w-what" Sans was having none of Rex's jokes and calmly explained that watching a movie with Silanea was as much of a date as Rex and Lewis doing the same. He even took the time to imply they were going through a rough patch and made a pun while he was at it. Rex completely ignoring Lewis' kick in favor of shuddering at the thought of dating him.

"I already told you, nothing happened! Nothing will happen and that's the end of it!"

Arcade of course also tried to join the party by saying that Lewis could aim for someone better than Rex. Well, if that's how he wanted to play...

"Didn't you watch a movie with Eve? That's even worse"

Meanwhile, Caboose explained how Church was actually a good friend and recalled the time he died and held no grudges against his killer. That story sounded a bit familiar but it was clear the soldier was misremembering the facts. Rex didn't know how to have a normal conversation with him but Two already seemed to be on his case anyway.

"...right"

Arcade's gaze snapped back down to the ground when Rex mentioned the movie. They only watched that movie because he needed something to take his mind off of his family. Eve... the Remnants... they were gone. They were gone and he was alone and...

Quietly, Arcade began to sob. He brought his hands up to his elbows and hugged himself as he cried. There was nothing left for him. Not in the city and not back in the Wasteland.

Sunset Shimmer| Buffet| "Oh! Are you sleepy?"

Sunset shook her head. "I chose to go to the human world. This... this is new," she said with a smile. When Cole made an offer, she just looked at him. "Perhaps you should go and find somewhere to sleep, instead?"

Cole looked towards Sunset for a moment, then sighed, moving to get to his feet. "...I guess I could do that. You would probably be safe here until morning, at least. If there are other people around, they will help if there is...danger, with whatever tomorrow brings."

He gestured vaguely in the direction of the stack of plates he had made earlier. "You can...you can use those to get to the ground, if you decide you want to leave..."

Sans tilted his head slightly at Lewis, who was talking like he was still actually dating someone despite everything he's said so far plus a very important fact.

"aren't you, like, dead?" He asked flatly

In the meantime Rex went ballistic over the teasing, he really should've expected that to happen considering it hadn't even been a full day since he told him about his "date" with Lewis. This did however lead into him just basically making the already troubled Arcade even worse.

"rex you're the most insensitive person i've ever met."

Sunset Shimmer|Buffet| "Ah ain't leavin' a kid alone."

Sunset blinked. "Uh... no. I'm not going to let a toddler go out alone in a potentially dangerous city. Uh-uh. Not happening. Applejack would kill me. Actually, all of my friends would. If you go, I go," she declared.
