Ciri - Grocery Grove
"Walnuts...." Ciri said, looking up from her work. That was his plan. Walnuts. And almonds. And blueberries. Still, he seemed to have been able to make potions, so maybe fruits and nuts worked differently here than she was used to. Maybe they were brimming with alchemical potential. Maybe she could even substitute them in her own recipes if the plants she sought were not available. Or maybe he was a charlatan who was completely full of shit and she'd need to hit him upside the head for wasting their time. Hopefully he was as skilled as she hoped, though."Very well, lead the way. We can discuss this business further," she added as she stood up. She wiped her gloves off in the wet grass, as well as the dagger, before lifting up the carcass.
After taking a moment to write Elias' advice down on a small notebook, Ciel followed Lu on their quest to find other people. And just like Ciel had anticipated, it did not take them very long to do so. However, the circumstances were... unusual. First, they found them inside a very large tree that for some strange reason had a door. Second, it looked like a massive fight had taken place, with blood, burnt spots and claw marks all over the place, including on numerous clothing items scattered throughout the place. There also seemed to be bloody writings on the walls as well.
"Whoa, what happened to this place? It looks like a lot of people just attacked each other in here... and then got rid of all their... clothes..."
While Lu thoroughly failed to ask the questions she meant to ask originally (and also failed to notice the familiar form of Jack Frost nearby by virtue of staring at all the bloody clothes on the floor), Ciel remained relatively close to the door, journal and pen at the ready for anything worth writing down.

Oh yeah. That happened. Uhh...
Yoshika forgot about it with the same speed and certainty as she remembered, looking aside at Lucas as she intently watched Ciri cut off edible and delicious parts of meat and organs just to get to the muscle.
She swallowed, and said "Sorry, I said 'It moved.' I pulled its head off so it wouldn't move, and...I forgot about not eating it." She pulled off another piece of meat from the head, and before she put it in her mouth, she said "I didn't get to eat since the day with the space stuff. I'm really hungry."
As Ciri left behind plenty of good meat on the ground with a clean dinosaur carcass, she nodded to Plague Knight and said "Mhmm" as she popped another piece in her mouth.

"You have a monkey named Bo- AAAAH!"
Before I could even finish my sentence, Rex took off so fast it actually startled me a bit. It was happening, we were flying and he was the only thing keeping from falling. I simply closed my eyes and held on to him as tightly as my 15 years old frail body would let me, clinging to him as if my life depended on it, because it kinda did.
By the time I heard him say something about how the library was boring but safe due to the librarian in there and landed, I was still clinging to him with my eyes closed for a while until I realized my feet were on solid ground now. I quickly opened my eyes and let go of him, making some distance between the two of us so we wouldn't have to keep close contact for longer than necessary. All things considered, the trip was pretty fast, nothing really happened and although it was a really awkward to be holding on to him like that all the way there, it still felt... nice, somewhat. I couldn't help but feel a little nervous just thinking about it.
Once we made our way inside the library, I took my time to look at my surroundings, noticing that the ceiling was transparent and I could faintly make the shape of the bookshelves upstairs, making me curious about the selection of books we could find in there. Then Rex spoke and drew my attention to the librarian and her... unprofessional attire. That was definitely not something I was expecting to see from the mighty librarian who would keep everyone in there safe and worked as an avatar of the deity who trapped them there.
Still, I tried my best to ignore her outfit as I walked to the desk. "Um... Hello, I was told that you could fix my clothes, can you do that?" I asked her, even though it really shouldn't be my first priority, I just really wanted to get that out of the way.
As I glanced around the desk, I took notice of a stand with some pamphlets in it. Out of curiosity I took one of them and began reading it. It turned to have all the information about this "city" which was really nice to have on hand. The most notable things I saw in there was that there really wasn't a way to really die in here, the fact food restocks every day and also how the library was organized. As I read, I made sure to still look at the librarian every few seconds just to not be rude as we were having a conversation.
Shinji Ikari | Library, the Center of the City -> Church of Literacy, Jungle | You should (not) follow
Once again, his request was granted a club, a sling and somr smooth stones for ammo appeared. Before anything else, he said,
"Thank you, and uh, no, I don't."
Then he proceeded to put as many of the stones he could to fit in his pockets and the rest carefully placed in his bag. With that done, he grabbed the club and sling and rushed out... And he immediately grimaced at that because he didn't realize how dark it was outside. Maybe it wasn't that dark for others, but it was for him. But he pressed on, doing his best to follow the sounds of footsteps of the terrified man and the white haired teen.
I mustn't run away.
By the time there was light again and he was out of the tunnels, he nearly lost sight of them but by sheer adrenaline managed to trial behind them. Thankfully, the destination the two were planning wasn't very far so Shinji didn't end up losing his breath. But as soon as he went inside with them...he wished he hadn't followed.
Shinji froze, still as a statue with eyes wide open. Blood was splattered everywhere. The clothes on the floor had them, as well as having burn marks or large rips, a lot on the furniture and floors along with some more burn marks, and some of the walls were covered in them. On one such wall there were words written out, words written in that same blood, the second sentence much smaller than the first.
Do not worship the demon. The city knights were here.
"What... What happened...?"
To say the least, he wasn't going to be moving for a bit, again.
"You said you had a dream... That dream... Make it come true! ... If anyone can, it's you!" - N (shortened) Oh, and I'm a girl."Oh. Right." Morty looked vaguely abashed at himself as Lewis described the situation. That wasn't really his proudest moment... okay, maybe it was, sort of, vaguely, maybe, in a kind of homicidal way, but.... the point was, he didn't really like to linger on that unfortunate few hours in his life any more than he needed to, and he rarely felt that need.
"Y'know," he said, quickly changing the subject to what Phoenix had brought up, "I - I hope so. Though I mean - I dunno, he's probably off endangering everyone's lives again or something." He rolled his shoulders in a contemplative way. "Don't ask me how I - don't ask me how I know this. I just do."
"Man." Morty looked around at the wet and, all told, rather filthy jungle, crawling with insects and microorganisms of every stripe. "Th-this really doesn't look like hygienic... operating conditions at all."
Digger's pickaxe blow made one of the ceratosaur's eyes roll madly in its misshapen head. The other dinosaur was currently screaming in what was clearly pain as blue flames spread up its flank, scorching its leathery hide. A second later, Crash's payload of explosive fruit detonated against its mottled skin, causing it to bellow in what was either terror or rage.
Prey it could handle, prey that could set its skin afire from afar was nothing that a hundred million years of evolution could have prepared it for. Hooting in distress, it clomped madly off into the forest, leaving only its dazed - and clearly far too stubborn - compatriot, warily circling the group...
... and then Roger, who had been up against the proverbial wall for the past few minutes, kicked into gear. A head built like a castle rampart slammed into its attacker, opening up the blindsided dinosaur for more attacks from his companions. Grunting with the exertion, Roger, taking advantage of his weakened foe, rode on his gathering momentum and ploughed his foe straight into the nearest tree. Ribs splintered as the theropod struggled to fight back, trying in vain to wrap its broken jaw around Roger's wide head.
It was, in fact, a charge that had - thanks to the ever-shifting city - carried the group straight to the fringes of the grocery grove. Rick popped a few laser bolts into the creature's skull as Roger slowed down, leaving behind a trail of steaming viscera.
"You're supposed to be *uuuuuuuurp* extinct."

Kamina told him, "What are the odds of that! Someone else that wants to look punks in the face and tell them off! Welcome aboard.....mutil armed beast guy? Got a idea where to go? If not, me and Simon here" Kamina tapped the edge of Lagann's opening at that, "are just going to run around until we find something that needs beaten up!" and then he offered a hand to Redring so he could be helped get in Lagann.
Everyone else was leaving and those who were still here were safe. While he and Simon were here, someone could need the full force of Simon's drill!

"A defense attorney? In your universe those also do investigations?" Wells asked into his walkie talkie, with a slightly confused tone. "Well, if you can help, try to get over to the Church of Literacy. You can ask any of our people to help you out if you need an escort" the militia leader added, then turned his attention back towards the newcomers into the church.
"Please stay back; this is a crime scene. Losing clothes upon death seems to be part of today's conditions" Wells said to them first off, then turned his attention to Jack Frost. "Right now, that's a touchy subject. Ben and I have a bit of history in this city; hypothetically if he did do it, and we charge him with it, all he'll have to do is claim we're lying and lots of trouble could go down" the militia leader explained to the winter spirit, while shaking his head slightly.
"But I'm not letting this situation go. That's why if we can get a third party investigation done, we can use that to show that there's no bias happening" Wells then continued.
"Hey, militia guys? It's Jeff again" Jeff's voice then came through the channel, sounding off on Wells' walkie talkie and a few of the other militia members who had theirs on. "We're still at the cinema, flipping through the channels just to listen to what's going on, with some of the Fanboys listening. They're telling us you can trust this Phoenix Wright guy; he's apparently real legit" his voice continued.
After hearing this, Wells raised an eyebrow slightly. "Seems now we have a whole group backing the validity of our potential third party. I think we can get through this without a major incident after all" Wells thought out loud.
"This isn't a 'major incident' to you?!" the literate asked of him incredulously, motioning at the church around them.
"Compared to a potential conflict between the militia and the city's self proclaiming heroes, no. But I intend to see whoever caused this brought to justice just the same" Wells answered.
"Jeez lady, do you just rush up to armed guards and take stuff from their hand back in your home, too?" Fastanook asked of Maya, trying to calm his nerves from her suddenly leaping upon him and taking his walkie talkie. "You go at someone with the wrong attitude or too twitchy of nerves and you could seriously get hurt" the gremlin continued, shaking his head in disapproval.
Fastanook then looked around at the others talking on walkie talkies or phones on various channels, and had his ears go down to either side slightly in worry. "Guys, uh, guys? Remember what Samson said; careful what you're revealing on the public airwaves right now..." Fastanook warned them, starting to quiver a little bit at just the thought of Brother Marcus coming to attack the hospital.
Now that Eve had his walkie talkie, Louie moved over next to her, folding his arms and frowning slightly towards Rex as he left. "Why does it seem like everyone in this city is in a constant snark contest? It makes them all seem like assholes" Louie thought out loud. Swishee had finally hopped over to be near her trainer as well. He then jumped, slightly startled, at the bang of noise coming from just beyond the tall grass. "Now what's going on?" the trainer asked nobody in particular, and moved to Swishee and told her, "come on, let's go check it out.
Swishee responded by promptly hopping up, opening her large bill, and just sort of dropping onto Louie as if swallowing him whole. "Swishee I told you not to do that!" Louie's muffled voice complained as Swishee took off, honking a couple times in amusement.
Elsewhere in the grove, Sir Redring stood himself up a bit taller. "My name is Sir Redring! Gentleman, adventurer, and knight! I am an octopode" Sir Redring responded to Kamina, then likewise looked over at the sudden noise. "Over there sounds like a great start!" the octopode commented, and then charged off that direction rather than get a ride from Kamina or Simon.
Meanwhile, beyond the tall grass Blue kept his sword in hand but otherwise seemed to be standing down, looking slightly satisfied with the situation.
"Isn't your dinosaur supposed to be extinct, too?" John pointed out to Rick, then looked over and noticed the tall grass. "Hey, Blue! I think this might be the place!" the Conglomerate soldier hollered over.
Blue took a look and then flew straight up for a moment to get a look over the grass. "Yeah, looks like it. This is where we stop" Blue said.
"Thanks for the dino ride" John said to Rick, grabbing Veela and hopping off of Roger.
Once Shinji left, the Miss Tairee at the central desks went back to typing until Rex and Chise arrived. "It's to go with the day theme, Rex. It doesn't bother me" Miss Tairee said simply, then turned her attention to Chise. "Today I actually cannot, sorry" the librarian answered her, motioning to the sign about her restrictions for the day, then added, "but I could give you spare clothes that fit the day theme. Before you ask, they don't have to be like mine."

You are reading this.Eve|Grocery Grove To Library|Talkie Talk Talk
So he was hurt. At least Arcade was at the hospital. "Everything is okay over here, Ben. The raptors have stopped coming, and everything is quiet. I'm going to go to the Library." Eve spoke into the walkie-talkie, somewhat concerned about Arcade. But the library didn't shift, and there was no guarantee that she'd find the hospital in time, so the Library was a better choice.
Louie came over and mentioned the snark contest. Eve winced, reminded of everything that had happened the day before. Before she got a chance to apologise though, Louie had heard a noise and flown away. She should do the same. With a small look around, just to check that everything was okay, Eve grew out her wings and jumped into the air. Wings beating a steady rhythm, she landed outside the volcano that seemed to host the Library and stepped inside.
[TOP SECRET]Cole hadn't really been paying attention to what was happening, or the explanations going on or discussions or new arrivals. When Jack had put a hand on his shoulder and spoken to Wells, Cole had looked at him, then looked towards the far wall...and within a second, his eyes had gone into a green glow, though for once he didn't say anything about it, just standing like that for a few moments.
However, when there was enough of a lull in the conversation and such around them, he spoke up. "Lieutenant Wells, I am listening to Ben now. There isn't any hurt from him on this. I see...what is normally there, frustration with his status in the city, fear for his family back home, worry over protecting friends, shame in past behaviors...right now he is with friends who are hurt, but..."
He turned his head back towards Wells, though with his eyes blank save for the green glow, it might be hard to tell he was looking at the man. "There's no hurt in him about having attacked people. No anger, no fear, nothing of the sort. Either he didn't do this, or he has no pain over having done it...if he did..."
Grocery Grove
And now Ciri was properly dealing with the dinosaur corpse. While still absolutely disgusting, it wasn't as difficult to watch. It was far more human to methodically prepare something than to just eat it raw and carefree. Lucas forced himself to pay attention to what she was doing, if only to distract himself from Yoshika's disgusting dino dining.
Lucas got a much needed distraction when Plague Knight returned with some nuts and berries. It didn't really seem right to Lucas that they could help one think, but he really wasn't an expert. Maybe it could be an alternative PP restoration option for him? It was wishful thinking, of course. The nuts Lucas knew about from home were practically useless, even compared to rotten milk... well, aside from in taste. They didn't have a better plan, though, so they'd have to try it.
Yoshika hadn't eaten for a few days now? That... could explain her just eating the... OK no, the dinosaur head eating was still really awful. Maybe she'd stop soon, though it didn't sound like she'd be done for a while. Lucas asked her "Huh... That was a few days ago. Do you actually need to eat, for survival, or is it just a desire? It's fine if you keep eating... that, even if you can't starve, I'm just a bit curious."
Why is a yam attacking me?So she could only make things that fit with the time period, which included clothes. Even if it didn't need to be that revealing it still didn't sound very pleasant. It sounded like I would have to spend the rest of the day like this...
"I think I prefer to stay like this, thank you," I politely refused.
Taking one more look at the pamphlet, it didn't look like there was anything else that I had to ask. Everything the drunk elderly man from before said was true from the looks of it, so maybe it would be better to wait for Elias to arrive and then let him talk to her. Instead, I turned to Rex.
"Thank you for all your help, Rex," I told him, giving him a little bow of gratitude and smiling at him, "Now I just have to wait for Elias to get here, I'm sure you have more important things to do so I won't take any more of your time, unless..." I tilted my head a little in curiosity "... you'd like to read something?"

Yeahhhhhh, Redring had the idea! "Simon, follow him!" said Kamina. Lagann started to run as Simon said, "O-n it bro."
They soon reached the edge of the tall grass and Lagann went out of it to the sight of several people! Kamina yelled out, "What's going here!" and then he looked at the trail that was behind another of these dinosaurs. On it was a guy that had the same hair style as him, just with a bald spot on it. Nooooo way was he going to let that happen to him. "Ohhhh, so this guy," Kamina pointed at Rick, "had a creature pounded into goo huh? Well, that's great! Nothing like giving these bastards what's coming to them!"

Eve|Tunnels To Library|Mistakes Were Made
She was wrong. The Library was not the best choice. Not only was there a.walk needed to get down there, so she couldn't just collapse on a couch like she wanted to, but it was in tunnels. Dark tunnels. With no forseeable start or end anymore. The light had receeded. She kept her eyes ahead of her, astutely ignoring the feeling of both deja vu and panic.
When she reached the Library, she almost collapsed on the spot, but instead walked over to one of the couches and promptly collapsed, breathing somewhat heavily. She looked around, noting Rex and Chise and Miss Tairee and the fact that the windows the library had looked out on nothing but rocks.
Joy.
So she was unable to move in a five-story building that only had windows that looked out on nothing and she really needed to calm down now. Her hands, already clenched, began to bleed as she forced her fingernails into them in an attempt to remain somewhat calm.
[TOP SECRET]Grocery Grove -> Volcano Library - Hibernation
It ended up taking quite a while for them to actually move on. More people ended up arriving, such as Louie and Sir Redring, whom she greeted. There was some confusion over someone who Lewis, speaking in the radio and relaying a message from Ben, claimed was coming for Chise with intent for harm, but it turned out that she knew them and wasn't worried.
Eventually, Ben spoke into te channel, asking how things were going over there. She had reported it previously, but it must have been while he was transformed into the telepath alien. In anycase, Plague Knight and Eve pretty much gave the report on the situation, so Caro merely replied, "[AC:Caro here, just to confirm the assessment. Things should be indeed safe in this place for now. I'll be heading for the library soon as well. Over.]"
Rex, carrying Chise, then very suddenly took off, so she had Fried take to the skies quickly so as to not get left off behind. They soon came up to a volcano that, given it is location at the center, would seem to somehow house the library. The way inside appeared to some narrow tunnels, so she quickly re-sealed Fried so he would be able to fit through, which also allow her to begin to recover some of her energy. Eventually, they came up to one of the doors of the library.
Once inside, it turned out that the day restricted what Miss Tairee could make, probably anything past the ancient age that seemed to be represented.
Chise thanked Rex and said that she would wait for her companion, who turned out to be named Elias, but that he could to do other things outside.
At this point she chimed in, "I will stay here with you for a bit. I need to rest for a while from all that magic back there ..."
Finally with some downtime, she took the opportunity to make a call to Sans. Unfortunately, it just keep ringing endlessly and eventually the call just shut itself off. Weird. Had he somehow managed to sleep through these circunstances? Given how it had went when the library had gotten smashed by that stone giant a few days ago, it was very possible ...

Digger - Grocery Grove (is it grove or groove?)
The poor thing lumbered off into the jungle after I hit it. It's partner, however, was unlucky enough to get slammed into a tree by Roger (did I really just call a dinosaur by a name?) and shot by the rider. Again, I wish I could say I felt bad, but they were dinosaurs. Something about it just seemed too off to be sympathized.
Nonetheless, I turned around and suddenly we were at our destination, if Blue was anything to go by. The first thing I noticed was the blood. There was a lot of it. So much, in fact, that I think I stepped in it. I refused to look down and check, but the slurping noises didn't help. Maybe it was mud. I really, really hope it was mud.
Anyway, I slipped my backpack off and started what I came here to do; get food. I walked around, picking some weird looking fruit, and made a small but full circle back to the rest of the group. And hey, Kamina and Simon were here too, I think. It at least sounded like them, but I don't remember Kamina being a robot. And a headless one, at that. He was yelling about...something, and I figured it was something I could at least contribute to, so I approached him the way a stray mole might approach a wombat with earthworms in his pocket. "Hey, what's going on here?" I said, convinced this was the proper way to start a conversation.

(holds pool noodle threateningly) Do you want to know what we do to artists?Every time Arcade blinked people were somewhere completely different. His brain was getting fuzzy, and he decided the best way to stay conscious was to start reciting some Latin.
“Pyramus et Thisbe, iuvenum pulcherrimus alter, altera, quas oriens habuit, praelata puellis, contiguas tenuere domos, ubi dicitur altam coctilibus muris cinxisse Semiramis urbem. Notitiam primosque gradus vicinia fecit: tempore crevit amor. Taedae quoque iure coissent: sed vetuere patres," he slurred.
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."Jack glanced over his shoulder briefly at the sound of a new voice, spying several people by the door. One looked like a teenager, which made the spirit frown from the fact they'd seen this, and one of the other two looked young and oddly familiar. But, before he could get a better look, Wells began to speak again. The Guardian wasn't sure how to feel about this man admitting that he had a history with Ben in the city. And the fact that the man wasn't willing to let it go just made him frown even heavier. "What. Look, I don't know what your issue with Ben is, but the kid didn't do this. Or did you just ignore what I said about how we'd only just been with him in the library before? Why do you need to investigate anything? Just leave the kid alone. Look for who really did this instead."
The spirit also didn't miss the way Wells said 'Self-proclaimed heroes'. His brow furrowed slightly, looking confused. "What do you mean self-proclaimed heroes? It almost sounds like you don't like the people actually helping."
Then, when Cole spoke up about Ben, Jack turned a touch smug. "See? The kid wouldn't have done this. He's not even close to like that. Now leave him alone, alright. You've got problems with him, and he's got enough of his own at the moment without you making more."
Phoenix held the walkie talkie to his ear, staring into space for a moment. Probably not the best idea to say that he isn't really supposed to investigate things. "Uhm, yeah, I do that in my universe. Sure." He nodded to Wells' explanation, before remembering nods can't be heard. "Okay. Right. On my way." He handed the talkie back to Fastanook. "Well, Maya. Guess we got us a case. And for the record, she has done that before, so sorry about that."
"We haven't been here for 24 hours yet, with no actual legal system, and you already have a case. You must be some kinda murder magnet, huh?"
"Why are you so sure it's murder?"
As the pair picked their way back out of the hospital, Phoenix looked around. There seemed to be a few people still on the first floor, along with Morty, the big-pink-fire guy, and the young boy who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. A few of them seemed to be wearing badges. Were those Militia members? "Excuse me," Phoenix called out. "Does anyone know where the, uh, Church of Literacy is? We kind of need to get there.."
Meanwhile, Maya made her way back over to Lewis. "Excuse me. Do you know where that Church place is? Since you seem pretty interested in my and Nick, it'd be your chance to see us in action. And you have a camera, which is like, super useful to have!"

Lu stared at the man stopping her from advancing any further, clearly some sort of authority figure, and then glanced at the clothes once more. She was registering and understanding the words, yes, but they did not completely match what she was seeing with her own two eyes.
"Wait, if so many people were murdered... where are all the bodies?" the little demon asked, looking around to make sure she was not missing something. "Were they taken away? Or devoured completely by something?!"
Meanwhile, Ciel was already writing all he could gather on his journal, putting special emphasis on the fact that people lost their clothes when they died. It was a bizarre fact, but clearly the clothes were there, while the bodies were not. Unless they were stripped and taken away... which in all honesty seemed to be a far more sensible option. So he allowed himself to add a notorious question mark next to that particular statement.
Unfortunately, Tairee was unable to fix their clothes because the Writer wanted people to follow the day theme. They would have to stay like that or get new clothes straight out of a bad B movie.
"I'm pretty sure they had cotton back in caveman-time"
Since that was a dead-end, Rex entertained himself by reading one of the pamphlets that were on the desk. He had never really tried to read one of them since he had been on the city since the beginning. But still, it was curious to see what people new to the city got to learn from them. There was probably something about Rex somewhere in there. Probably something not nice.
"You know, you really should update this. It doesn't even say we have a cinema now"
With that out of the way, Chise didn't really have anything to do but wait for her teacher and in the meantime she was going to read something. The tricky part was that she was inviting Rex to join in. Normally, he wouldn't read a book unless it helped someone or had lots of pictures but he figured he could make an exception right now. The people at the grocery grove were okay and there was nothing bad going on in the city at the moment. Plus, he was making sure she reunited with her teacher. Yup.
"Reading?... Uh, well... What would you like to read?"
Caro was there, too and she kinda ruined the moment by pointing out she was going to relax near the two for a bit.
"Oh hey Caro, I didn't see you... following us. Anyway, where's Sans? You guys are together all th—" Rex suddenly stopped talking as he spotted Eve lying on a couch and bleeding from her hands "Uh, I think Eve needs help"
Instead of saying he didn't like to read, Rex asked what I would want. Well, boys usually don't like reading romances, right? Maybe he just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to give him something that was literal torture for him.
Caro came along and told them she was going to spend some time with them. That was nice, maybe she would like to read something too and we could have some fun reading together. But then... Rex pointed out that Eve was there too and she was hurt, not only that but she also looked exhausted.
"Yes, maybe you should try helping her, I don't have any healing potions with me and maybe she'll be more willing to talk to you." I said, adding to Rex's suggestion.
I then looked back at him. As much as I wanted to help Eve, I knew my limits, so all I could really do was try to lighten the mood a bit.
"I like romances, mystery, fantasy... I'll read anything as long as it's not too heavy and it has a happy ending. You can pick something for us to read if you want. Maybe Caro and Eve can join us later too."
Ben nodded. "Yeah, sounds like a good idea," Ben told her. "Stay safe. Both of you." Ben glanced over at the spiky-haired guy in the suit, who asked where the Church of Literacy was. Ben rolled his eyes and shrugged slightly.
"Why do you wanna go there?" Ben asked, sounding rather incredulous. "They're a bunch of stupid cultists who worship the freak who trapped us here, say they wanna make a good story. A bunch of crazies if they ask me. I almost kinda feel sorry for them.... And if they get in trouble I'm gonna have to be the one to get them out of trouble. If they do anything stupid that is. But I couldn't tell you where their dumb church is. I don't know, don't really wanna know."
I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither."It didn't happen just now! It happened right after the day changed this morning!" the Literate complained back at Jack.
"Both of you calm down or you'll have the aftertaste of a stun tomorrow morning" Wells said in a very no-nonsense, military commander tone at the Literate and Jack Frost. Then he focused on Jack. "What I don't like is the people who get an ego just because they can do what common men can't; and then start to care more about themselves and those like them, than they do about the common folk they claim to be protecting. I don't think Ben did this, for your information. But the fact that you seriously suggested I completely drop a case of multiple homicide just because your friend is a suspect only proves my point!" the militia leader ranted at Jack, losing a little composure partway through.
He took a moment to take a deep breath and then let it out, then pointed at the blood stains on the walls. "People died here. Somebody did this. Don't you have any respect for that?" Wells asked Jack, his tone calmer but no less accusatory. Wells then gave a brief glance towards Lu, then looked at one of the other militia members and told them, "somebody fill in these newcomers."
That militia member gave a nod, then stepped towards Lu and Ciel. "When people die here they come back to life somewhere else, and normally take their stuff with them; anything they had on them when they first arrived, anyway. Today seems to be an exception..." the militia member said, trailing off and looking at some of the fallen clothes again. "Did you know yet that you're in another universe? What else do you need info on?" he then asked, since he wasn't sure just how new Lu and Ciel were.
To get to the food, Digger had to go through the tall grass, and something shrieked and rushed in on her, only to be stabbed through its neck by Sir Redring. "Careful now! There's still a few ruffians lollygagging around this place!" Sir Redring said, moving only once he was sure Digger was safely all the way through to the grove. Then he stepped through to just outside the grove to see the aftermath of the scene there. "I hope all are doing well out here?" the octopode asked, glancing around.
"Yeah everything's great. Come on John, we better make sure they stay safe; it's what we came to do after all. Veela, why don't you wait right out here" Blue said, then quickly flew over the tall grass; John followed suit with his jet pack.
"Uh... Yeah I guess I'll be out here then" Veela said, looking at the tall grass leerily.
"Very well then" Miss Tairee said simply to Chise, then glanced at Rex. "They didn't have industrially processed cotton. And the pamphlets aren't meant to describe other spots in the city in detail" the librarian responded to him, then went back to typing.
"Directions are useless here, man. The city keeps shifting around" Fastanook said to Phoenix.
"Did you want someone to go with you? We heard what Wells said on the radio" one of the other two militia members offered to Phoenix. "Just gotta know what area of the city they're in. But uh, you should maybe be the one to ask, considering the Marcus situation" he added, offering his walkie talkie to Phoenix.

Ciri explained that hunting and properly preparing meat to cook would be vital for Yoshika if she ever needed to do that in her new home. It made sense but it was still vomit-inducing.
"That reminds me, add this to the list of things I need to show you later: Supermarkets"
Meanwhile, Chise was starting to feel a bit awkward about the whole flying thing and sort of hugged Rex from behind while looking for a way to actually fly with him. The awkwardness went both ways but Rex wasn't going to admit it.
"Don't worry, it'll be fine. Bobo and I do this all the time. And he's a monkey"
Rex took off and zipped away from the grocery grove at top speed. Chise wanted to get there fast after all, and the less time she spent on the air, the less time she would be afraid of falling.
"The library is a bit of a boring place but the librarian doesn't let anyone inside get hurt" he said as he landed in the middle of the city, right near a volcano with tunnels inside it "Uh, I think this is the place anyway" Rex made his way inside one of the tunnels guiding Chise along the way. If this was the Writer idea of fun, he was sorely mistaken. The two finally got to a revolving door and entered the building proper. Rex wanted to talk to Tairee about his clothes but, unfortunately, he didn't notice her new wardrobe until it was too late.
"Hey Sekr—Really? Again?"
This Writer guy really needed to get laid at some point. And stop trying to tease Rex.
"She usually wears more clothes" he told Chise, like if she needed some sort of explanation.
