Sneaking in Grocery Store

Lune watched as Rex, Fastanook, and Rick argue over something banal and pointless. Now's not the time for that! We have to rescue people here! The only thing that caught Lune's ears was the fact that Rick was apparently a wanted criminal in many dimensions.

How much free time does Rick really have if he can warp in and out freely?! And why the hell does he enjoy bringing Morty along for the ride!? Does he know that he's turning Morty into an unwilling accomplice!

And then Rex got back to business and explained that Ben and some of the others were acting as a distraction, which sort of blew a hole in the plan already. Then again, the City Knights weren't that organized in comparison to the other groups. For now, Cole and Sans waited for Rex to give them directions to the Ruckus Leader since Rex was essentially mission control.

Despite all this help, Lune still seemed a little concerned and spoke up again. “Roger that, Rex... Do you need any backup in case those guys were to find us out?”

Grocery Store - Here We Are

John flied to the airlock to catch up with Ben and Eve, spaced out for a while, then jolted back up. The octopus was looking at him, pointing at the box. Was he trying to tell him to get it? He... really had no idea how to do it. Unless...

John digged around the Wallet Modus. Ever since his Queuestack Modus was lost in his real body, he had to make do with his father's wallet modus. It was more boring, but in many ways also very much more practical- There was practically no limit to size.

Aaaand there was nothing. Except for his Cosbyturnmuffs. He always had that in his modus- It was a versatile hands-on computing device. Suddenly, John had a very bright idea. He put the computer-muffs on his ears, and a holographic keyboard popped up, as well as a screen. He booted up Notepad, and began to type.

"hey, can you all read this?"

Garbage Chute - Trash Can Inside the Store

Rick rolled his eyes as Rex suddenly decided to assume command of the ragtag group of humans, sort-of humans... things that were probably once humans but now defied conventional species designations, and miscellaneous aliens. "Okay, okay, okay, fine, y-you know what? Fine. I'll help you against these fuckers, whatever, Morty, okay?"

"Why?" From behind Rick, Morty stared at the sparking antimatter coagulator in his hands, hoping that it wouldn't go off anytime soon.

"They *urp* they messed with my fucking booze, Morty," growled Rick as he poked his head up out of the garbage chute, stealthily drawing his gun and keeping an eye out for any sudden movements. "It's *urp* it's personal."

Trash Chute — Directions

Sans asked for directions to Yael. Understandably since Cole's powers didn't cut it when it came to demonic spirits.

Rex gave a quick description of the grocery store's front, pointing out the two Ruckus members near the airlocks and the different objects floating thanks to the cult's actions

Meanwhile, Lune was preoccupied about the imminent battle about to start in the cargo bay and wanted to know if Rex needed backup in case they were found in the chute.

"We should get ready to fight the rest of the Ruckus after Sans and Cole take care of the bomb, regardless" he tried to defuse the tension "Seriously, don't worry about it. Once the explosive is out, this is going to be as easy as pie"

Grocery store, the chute full of garbage, human and inanimate

"Oh yeah, you're a wanted criminal after booze, while we're trying to save lives, but we're the pieces of shit. That's definitely how that works" the one militia member mentioned sarcastically, glaring after Rick and Morty as the two went down one of the smaller tunnels. "What the fuck is wrong with that guy?" he asked nobody in particular.

"Just cram it, he's not worth it" Fastanook told him, then looked towards Sans and Cole. "Hey, report on our channel once you've done okay? We wouldn't want to blow it for you by going too early" the gremlin added to them.

Grocery store, militia shuttle out front

"You better make it really thick then, but remember, hold off unless I signal you to. We don't want to attract attention with an unnecessary light show unless the first plan doesn't work" the pilot told Jack, getting out of his seat. Nails still looked uncertain, but after Seiga's comment he offered no further remarks.

"Oh yeah, and one last thing" the pilot mentioned as he floated over towards the rear door, grabbing one of the seat backs to stop himself next to the boxes they'd loaded on board from the library. "Everybody take one of these. They're non lethal, so go ahead and shoot first and ask questions later" he explained to them, opening up one of the boxes and handing everyone a phaser pistol via a floating-toss. With that done, he opened up the rear door, venting the air out and leaving everyone in the silence of the vacuum. Leading the way, the pilot carefully climbed his way to the outside of the shuttle, then pushed off it to float himself towards the front airlock.

Rachel moved to the door next but paused there, motioning her arm to Thomas and helping him get out, since he was the crucial element to their first plan. They would have to slowly make their way there one by one, as Thomas was already pointing his wand towards the shelf inside the airlock and concentrating, speaking incantations inside his helmet.

Grocery store rear airlock, almost solving the communication issues

Seeing John doing something, Sir Redring and a few of the anti-humans carefully moved themselves around to get a better look. Once he put the message up, they each nodded. Sir Redring even moved closer and moved his tentacles towards the keyboard, but paused before pressing anything. After a moment, he threw his tentacles 'up' in seeming frustration.

One of the few shortcomings of the otherwise extremely convenient city translation business. Translating words was just fine, but translating letters was not so simple. Not every language has the same number of letters, and those letters aren't necessarily used in equivalent ways. Thus the message John typed was clear as day to the octopode, but the keyboard was absolute nonsense; John now had one-way communication, except for those who happened to use the same language anyway and thus could understand the keyboard.

Grocery store, poking out one of the trash cans

Having picked a tunnel at random, Rick and Morty had gotten a trash can in the produce section. There were a lot of scared civilians trying their best to huddle behind cover in a zero gravity environment. There was one person armed with an assault rifle within view, wearing some kind of kevlar armor and helmet and currently clinging to one of the aisle shelves. Nobody was really looking their way or seemed to notice Rick yet; the armed guy in particular was peeking to look around the shelf in the other direction entirely, towards the front of the store.

Development through the cameras

In the cargo loading area, the two Ruckus members had stopped sabotaging the shutter doors when they seemed to hear something, and got their weapons at the ready, looking over towards the open doorway that led to the rear airlock. Unfortunately, the large garbage dumpster was easily in their peripheral vision and they'd probably see anyone coming out of it. Across the other side of the rear airlock, Jackson was in a storage room, staring at one of the outer walls where Four Arm's banging was coming from, looking a little... Bored.

Furthermore, the two Ruckus members who had sabotaged the gravity system had finally moved out of that room and were heading back into the large front area of the store. Of course, this was all if Rex was still paying attention to the cameras.

Eve|Outside the Store

Eve nodded to John, reading the display on his...something. She then pointed upwards. As easy as brute-forcing the airlock would be, it wouldn't have good effects. Instead Eve decided that it might be worth checking the roof for entry passages. As Jackson was gone, now would be an excellent time to do so.

Using two ropes of hair this time, Eve jumped off the platform, and guided herself onto the roof in a similar manner too how she arrived at the airlock. Once there, she looked for entrances that Ruckus may not have noticed.

Grocery Store - no time to lose

With everything being given to him, Sans nodded at Rex and also at Fastanook when he told them to report, although Sans wasn't sure how soon he would be able to report anything. Still, he would try to do it as soon as he could.

"cole, the moment i leave with the leader, you keep hiding yourself since there's still going to be a few of those goons nearby, 'k?" he told Cole, grabbing his hand.

Once he got a reply and Cole turned both of them invisible, Sans would then teleport both of them to the entrace of the store.

Cole winced a little as he listened to Rex's report on what was going on around them in the store. It was clear that he was incredibly nervous, but he didn't hesitate to hide himself and Sans once the skeleton took hold of his hand. Sans might have noticed that while he and Cole were seemingly hidden from any other prying eyes, looking at himself or Cole would reveal faint green wisps of their forms, just enough to be able to still see one another's shapes, if nothing of much detail.

Cole nodded at the advice he had been offered about staying hidden, then just tightened his grip on Sans's hand, more or less ceding control of where they were going to him. Without any gravity, fortunately, it wouldn't be difficult to lead Cole along, as the spirit was having to concentrate hard to keep them both hidden from sight.

Outside a Grocery Store, Handing Loaded Weapons To Children Is Irresponsible
Seiga easily caught the pistol heading in her direction and, before Yoshika could squeeze on the trigger in a very literal application of "shoot first", relieved her servant of the right to bear arms. Right before the cabin was vented, she said "Yoshika, I'll hand it to you when you need it."

Yoshika protested with a whiny "Aww, but if I'm gonna kill everyone I can use a gun right nooooow~" but the lack of medium in between them stopped that from being transmitted.

With that unsaid, they both floated out soon after Thomas. Aside from Seiga silently wondering about how his system of magic worked, looking like that of the European mages, it was a tense wait to see if Plan A succeeded.

Militia Shuttle

"Yeah, sure." Jack answered the pilot, still feeling bemused by the whole situation. This bemusement grew even stronger when the pilot tossed him some kind of gun. Apparently it was non-lethal, but he held it awkwardly out in front of him regardless. He'd never held one before, or really had the want to. He'd probably just hold onto and not actually use it. He was sure it wouldn't matter.

The sudden silence when the door was opened to space was mildly unnerving for the spirit, and the fact that he was floating freely yet there was no wind around left him out of sorts. Still, if Jack was going at anything, he was good at moving around in these kinds of conditions. He pushed off, following after the pilot. When he came close to the airlock, he used Twinetender to hook on and stop himself just beside it. Then, he waited, watching curiously.

Grocery store, roof

The roof was fairly plain, with mostly open space and a few technical doodads that looked like some kind of radio antennas maybe, and some solar panels, plus the ship that Rick parked up there earlier; nothing that seemed like an entrance though. There was a pair of shuttles above the store a little ways away, but from Eve's position it wasn't clear what the occupants were doing.

Grocery store, garbage chute

"He's gonna what?" Fastanook said after overhearing Sans mention leaving with Yael. "... Well, as long as the bomb threat is clear I guess; good luck to him. Everyone be ready to move" the gremlin continued, getting his hammer ready as the other militia members got their guns ready. They waited silently, tensely.

Grocery store, out front

From out here, it wasn't very clear what was going on inside. They could see that there was something glowing brightly, just past the cash registers. But more importantly, they could see that the two Ruckus members near the airlocks were looking towards the glowing thing inside, and weren't actually looking at the airlocks at the moment.

Continuing his concentration, Thomas slowly, gently moved his wand, trying to make sure this went unnoticed. The shelf blocking the airlock door, now a little off the floor due to the lack of gravity, started inching its way into the airlock proper, bit by bit. The pilot was grinning inside his helmet, and gave the others a quick thumbs up. Though they still had to wait a bit, until the shelf would presumably clear the door entirely and allow it to close, it looked like they would be able to get in safely after all.

Grocery store, around the front, church organs reaching crescendo

Sans and Cole appeared nearby the cash registers; thankfully neither had clipped into anything, though they were diagonal compared to the floor. Within no more than ten feet was one of the Ruckus members hanging out near the front airlocks, currently watching Yael with his gun in hand. There was no sign of him having noticed them at all. A bit farther away was the other one doing the same near the other front airlock. Also if they looked closely, Sans and Cole might notice that the shelf blocking one of the airlocks was gently moving deeper into the airlock, very slowly.

Of course, the main attraction was just across the cash registers; the open clearing with the ritual circle, that Yael was floating just above. In his left hand was the brick of C4, and in his right was the cylindrical container, now glowing about as bright as a neon light. Being actually near the situation and not just watching it through a camera, Sans and Cole could hear Yael chanting something, made indistinct by the rising sound of fleeting whispers speaking things unknowable and incomprehensible, passing around them with the waves of light cast by the shifting colors of the glowing container.

Grocery Store - showtime

Once they showed up, Sans immediately began to size up the situation. They showed up super close to one of the Ruckus guards, anything could blow their cover at this point and the leader seemed to be in the middle of the ritual. The bomb is Yael's hands was a problem, he had the thought of bringing him into his ship where Caro was waiting, but with the bomb there he could easily blow the ship up so he had to find a way to get rid of it before getting him to the ship.

However he couldn't do anything inside the store with those two goons watching their leader do his thing, so he had to settle for the middle ground. What he was wearing sure looked like a space suit anyway.

Not wanting to risk anything, Sans immediately teleported from his current position to get closer to Yael and once he was in that position, unsure of whether Cole's invisibility would last at that distance, he immediately teleported again, this time bringing Yael with him.

If everything went according to the plan, Sans and Yael would show up in the middle of space not too far away from the ship Sans and Caro had been riding so far. If Caro had been watching through the windows she would likely spot the two of them there.

Before Yael could even fully process what was going on, Sans teleported again to get a good distance from him and used his telekinesis to quickly grab the remnants of OFB's soul and yank them from Yael's grasp and towards himself, if he ended up being unable to capture the leader, he would at least steal one of the vital parts of the ritual.

As soon as the two of them appeared, Sans and only Sans would be aware of a sharp breath from Cole, and he would be able to see the wispy shape of the spirit grabbing at his face with his free hand. However, he kept his grip on the skeleton's hand for a second before letting go, focusing hard on still keeping Sans hidden from any notice, desperately trying to resist the sensations of getting pulled back into that hoard of screaming voices. He had no idea of how far he could extend his power, but he refused to let up on the illusion for as long as he could be aware of where Sans was.

A few blinks later, and it was out of his hands, literally and figuratively.

Cole had kept his eyes squeezed closed, concentrating as much as he could, and only now did he manage to catch his breath, even as his head was pounding from the effort. He would have rather liked to find somewhere to just lay down, cover his head, not be here, but Sans wanted him to stay hidden. And there were Ruckus members right here as well. He couldn't let them find him.

Cole just remained where he was in the air, not able to even feel bothered at the lack of being able to get his feet on the ground, just trying to stay still and silent and invisible as he waited to find out what would happen.

Gearing up for Combat, Grocery Store

Thank goodness Rex was there to reassure Lune that things are going to be all right, even though things have known to get messy in the past. After the explosive is out of the picture, the other gang/cult members should be easy to take of. Rick and the other military members readying their weapons further emphasized this point.

Also, Sans and Cole were probably ready to enact their portion of the plan since vanished from sight completely. Cole and Sans probably used their powers in conjunction and set off to find the leader of the Ruskus or whatever their name was again.

In the meantime, Lune activated her watch and the Valsione armor covered up parts of her spacesuit except her helmet. It was time to bring the fight to those cultists!

Eve| Store Roof

Eve looked around, but there appeared to be no entrances on the roof. There was a ship parked that looked vaguely familiar, so Eve presumed that it wasn't Ruckus. The two ships a little further out though...they could be Ruckus, militia, anti-human or civilian. Either way, there were chances that it was inhabited.

Approaching slowly, she readied her reactions for each faction. For everyone except Ruckus, she would introduce herself and see what they knew of the situation. If it was Ruckus, she would attempt to get herself captured and placed with the hostages. As annoying as it was, she could appear normal if she had to. If they were uninhabited, she would think up something from there.

For better or for worse, Eve walked up to the closest shuttle and knocked five times.

Trash Chute — The die is cast

Cole and Sans disappeared just like that. Rex was more used to teleportation through portals so it kind of freaked him out. He extended his arm to where both of them used to be to see if he could feel anything. Teleporters, man. Creepy weirdos.

"Okay, they are in" he said, looking at the feed though it was kinda hard to tell when they were invisible "...I think. I'm just gonna assume that if I can't see them, things are going swimmingly"

Unfortunately, not everything was going according to plan.

"Oh, great. The two guys that screwed up with the gravity are getting to the front of the store"

Luckily, there was a group that could take down the Ruckus before they could react to a teleporting skeleton. Okay, so a lot of those people weren't exactly reliable or at the very least not to Rex. At least he could count on Lune.

"After they take care of Yael, we need to attack the front. I'm not going to let those guys kill any of the hostages when they discover they don't need them anymore"

"Beer. Beer. Hm." Rick mumbled something to himself as he poked his head up out of the garbage can like a groundhog, noticing the angry Kevlar-armored man floating with a group of hostages a few meters away from them.

"Wh-what's the, the, situation, Rick?" asked Morty from beneath, keeping his voice down to as quietly as possible. Rick silently slid the lid down.

"No beer."

"Not that, Rick, I-I-I-I mean, is Ruckus there? Are they- are they killin' people?"

Rick sighed. "No, Morty, t-they're just standin' there, I dunno. We're gonna have to try another trash can."

"But- but-"

"Look, Morty, *urp* we're gonna find another trash can, wait for these dogs to *urp* spring their superhero trap on the ruckus, and then - and then", he added, nudging Morty's foot with his head to force him back down the trash chute, "I'm gonna - we're - I'm getting riggity-riggity-wreeeecked, son."

Grocery store, around the front, combining Cole's posting with another group

Sans' teleportation away from Cole immediately broke the invisibility, flickering the skeleton into view just behind Yael for a moment before they both vanished away, taking away the light and the whispering of the damned with them. "What the- was that supposed to happen?!" one of the Ruckus members said, startled.

"I don't think so. Where'd they go?" the other one said, looking around, and then noticing the slowly moving shelf and the group visible through the transparent airlock. "Hey!" he yelled, pulling himself over so he was blocking the doorway as he grabbed at the shelf to stop it.

Just outside, Thomas was startled by the sudden turn of events and looked uncertain, while the militia pilot clearly sighed in slight resignation. Then he turned to Jack and motioned his arm in a circular pattern.

If they looked off a ways behind themselves and below the store's horizontal plane, they might notice a new light source suddenly appear along with a couple distant figures near it...

Grocery store, floating above the roof

After Eve shoved off the roof and slowly floated up to the two shuttles to knock on one of their doors, she'd see there was a sort of port hole in the door, and after a moment some man looked through it at her with a confused expression. He turned around and said something to whoever else was inside, completely inaudible to Eve in the vacuum of space. It would be unclear to Eve what they were doing, and in the meantime the door was not yet opening.

Grocery store, rear airlock

Sir Redring placed a couple of his tentacles on the front of his glass helmet and slid them down slightly, then removed them and nodded his head to John.

Grocery store, garbage system

"Uh, yes, that was the plan" Fastanook responded to Rex, in that 'well, duh' kind of tone. "Just let us know once they've got that bomb clear" the gremlin added.

Suddenly in space

Whatever Yael was chanting abruptly went silent as Sans teleported himself and the quarian into space away from the grocery store. Unnervingly, the whispers from the glowing container did not stop, even with the vacuum of space in the way. Sans couldn't see Yael's face from behind the quarian, but his posture did immediately change, head turning slightly and his arms lowering a bit.

Between a reaction time better than Sans would be expecting, and already gripping the container tight enough to whiten his knuckles under the suit, Yael did not lose it when Sans tried to yank it away. It only managed to pull Yael's arm in that direction, turning the quarian towards the skeleton and making him start to gently float that way. Yael's eyes narrowed when he saw Sans, and he tucked the container closer to himself with his arm wrapped around it. Then he let go of the brick of C4 in his other hand, letting it float freely by his side; his free hand then grabbed and started to draw his sidearm.

Space - > Space Ship - final phase

The dude reacted faster than Sans expected, being able to hold on to the container even despite the complete change of scenery that should have left him distracted. At first it seemed things were already going badly, but then an opportunity showed itself: Yael let go of the bomb, so now he could carry with his original plan.

Seeing how Yael was already reaching for his weapon, Sans acted quickly again once he saw the bomb slowly drift away. He teleported behind Yael to get closer to him once more before then teleporting with him inside his space ship where Caro was waiting for him and leaving the bomb harmlessly floating in space.

Once they were both there, Sans would quick grab Yael's soul with his magic and throw him at the wall to at least stun him for a bit so Caro could do her thing.

"caro, chains!" he quickly called out to the girl, not even looking to see where she was at the time.
