Library - Mission Control
So it seemed that Zelda had had to save someone during the attack. Given what she knew of her friend, specially by what had ocurred with their letters, it definitely wouldn't have been much of a choice to her. And given that Sans had asleep during the whole incident, it was most likely that he had been the one Zelda had to save.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. But hey, all hope may not be lost yet. It might have ended up in the water today, but there is a chance that harp will resurface somewhere once this place shifts back into a proper city. Granted, actually finding it would be a real long shot, but it would be possible," Caro replied to the other girl.
She then learned from Sans that apparently, the days lasted longer now, ending in the dawn of the next instead of at midnight like before.
She looked thoughful as she said, "I see ... That's would might us more time but ... It's kinda of a double-edged sword. That also gives more time for the things like a stone giant to wreck everything ... What if there is something like what happened two days ago, but lasting past midnight this time? That's definitely worrying ... "
Of course, Sans couldn't have missed the chance to some puns about the situation and like always, she couldn't help giggling a bit at it.
"Yeah, the storyteller god's definitely upping his game, huh? He's getting really boulder with all this, isn't he?" She commented back.
Sans was probably right though. The boss did seem like it would be somewhat similar in nature to robots, except made of stone instead of metal. Which meant that it was likely soulless and thus Sans couldn't deal much damage to it.
Zelda then suggested coming up with a plan and then relaying to the others.
"Well, that could work, maybe if everyone had headsets like these attached to their radios," She replied, briefly lifting up her hat to expose said, "The real issue is the plan itself. I really can't think of anything. I mean, when that first appeared, one of the men from the militia was telling what he knew about it, appearing from some film it was in. And where it came from, no one managed to defeat it. People had just run away from it. And they were far more armed than anyone of us here are ... "

"guess i owe you a new harp huh?" Sans told Zelda, half-joking since even if he wanted to give Zelda her harp back it would probably be faster to just ask Miss Tairee for a new one.
Caro answering with another pun was something he was expecting from her at this point but even still it made the skeleton feel a little better after the nightmare he had to go through just a while ago. He looked pleased for a bit, until Caro brought up some good points regarding the nature of the prolonged duration of the challenges, another nearly endless hordes of creatures lasting for many more hours would definitely be very hard to take off if it happened.
"it's basically a robot made of raw stone isn't it? it must have some kind of power source hidden within it somewhere, right? from what you're telling me this thing must be huge, so maybe the best way to destroy it would be from the inside. you and lune made a hole in it didn't you, is it big enough for someone to drop in?" he asked her.
Library - You Know, That Girl Who Loves Wizards
"he has a thing that can make aliens? cool." He had no idea Ben could make aliens. Aliens were pretty cool. Just like Karkat and Kanaya and Terezi.
Then he realized he didn't introduce himself properly. "oh, yeah, i forgot... name's john egbert! what's yours?" Scanning the outfit of the boy, he remarked. "wow, are you a wizard? you look like one from one of roxy's favorite movies. you would like her. she loves wizards."

Rero. But, eh, considering Viola could possibly be as old as she was, she was probably hard to surprise.
Seiga took her up by the arms, gently grabbing hold of her and then flew away from the boat entirely silently, the only sound in her ears being the summer breeze that permeated the entire City today. Seiga made sure, even if there was only a short distance between here and there, to go up high and to take her time. Once they reached their peak, almost up there touching the clouds,* the horizon stretched out before them and gave an unparalleled view of the city.
Seiga broke her own silence after a long while. "I can imagine you've haven't gotten a chance to see the Ocean like this...unless your house was by the sea. It's featureless, really, but it still has its own beauty unlike anywhere else in the world." She started heading back down toward the nearest structure, moving at a faster pace than the lazy speed of their ascent.
"You deserve much more than just this."
It was not hard to tell by the woman's voice that she was almost ready to burst into tears. But even as she tried to free herself from Ara's embrace, she did not let go. In fact, the more the former struggled to be released, the tighter the hug became. And soon, she talked again.
"You aren't the monster you think you are," she continued, "You made a mistake, and that mistake had consequences, but you are much better than what you think you are. You realized what you did, and now you're trying to make things better by clearing the city of danger for those who can't defend themselves."
There was a moment where Ara stopped to ponder something, but it did not last very long.
"You're not the first person I meet that went through something like this. He also did terrible things because of someone else's influence, but he was given a second chance to make up for what he had done. A chance to fight for those who can't fight, and to prevent others from making the same mistake he made. So why shouldn't you be given one?"
"These trinkets, as you refer to them, are actually bombs," Plague Knight explained to Thomas, "and yes, I can easily create more of them. However, if we integrate both the strategies we overheard, with the turrets and Ben attacking in one of his alien forms, as well as throwing my bombs upon all simultaneously, that lobster will end up as gravel in rapid succession!"
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HITTING HELPY!!Ben nodded and glanced over at John. "I'm Ben Tennyson," he greeted. "I'm starting a hero group called the City Knights. We've already got a couple of members. We're focused on protecting those in need from the dangers of the City!" He looked around at the others, trying to see who all was in the library.
"...Can any of you guys fly?" he asked the assembled group. "Or at least, carry someone really high up?"

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither."Wow," Jack said after Tairee's explanation, his face shifting between surprise and sympathy as he absorbed the idea, "That must really, really suck. Your boss is an ass. So, what can you do to help then?" The more he spoke to Tairee, the more he felt his first judgement on her was probably a bit too harsh, and blinded by anger at the situation. She sounded like almost as much a prisoner of this city as everyone else.
Jack turned to Rex when he spoke up, and watched teenager's expression grow darker at the mention of the fight with Ruckus. It obviously ended as well as you'd expect a fight with someone with guns to go, but it was good to hear that no one else was really hurt. Smiling softly, he said, "Hey, at least you guys got away fine. No one is going to blame you for defending yourself."
Then, the spirit could only sigh when Rex straight out stated what the little girl, Mary, had apparently done. She'd apparently killed Cole as well? He'd have to talk to him about that. Maybe. It might be best to just leave it.
But, before he could say anything, a strange sensation drew his attention. The wind coming into the library started behaving oddly, and drew away from him as if answering to someone else, suddenly. Turning to look, Jack's eyes focused on the newest addition to the room, and group; A teenager wearing what looked like pajamas and silly hood that he looked like he would trip over. He seemed to be the source of the phenomenon.
He was brought back from his mental wandering by Tairee exploding at Rex, in a southern accent of all things. Jack had to stifle a laugh at the sudden change, and instead focused on what was being said. Judging by the librarian's actions, this was something that had been brought up before. "She's, well, she's right, Rex. Kids are innocent, truly innocent. Decisions that they make, aren't like ones you make as an adult, or a teenager. They're... purer? No that's not the word." He thought for a moment. He wasn't used to talking about stuff like this. "They're... less affected by the rules and bias that adults have. And because they don't have that, they believe things a lot easier. But, it also means they're affected by things a lot easier. If no one ever taught Mary anything else, she really wouldn't understand what she did wrong. And if this, demon was messing with her, it really wouldn't be her fault."
He looked at Tairee. "Mary, she's safe now, right? Is she ok?"
A tap on his shoulder drew Jack's attention, and he glanced back to find Lewis. "Oh. Hey man. Uh..." The spirit glanced back to the conversation, then back at the ghost, "sort of? What's up?"
There wasn't much specific happening on the militia's channel at the moment for Curly to hear. The group who had been at the cinema finally reported in about evacuating people there, and that some people had stayed behind anyway; they also got chided by Wells when it came up that their method of getting attention had apparently been firing a gunshot into the ceiling.
Another patrol reported in finding a second turret building, though unfortunately it was currently nowhere near the leviathan's position. Wells instructed them to man it anyway, just in case the city shifting or the leviathan's own movements put it into range of them.
"Uh... Okay, sounds good" Nails said, finally getting off the table entirely now that nobody was picking glass from his back. He still winced a bit as he planted his feet on the floor, but shook it off and moved out the door. "You still haven't told me how to spot him though" the militia member pointed out, stepping out onto the boardwalk and glancing back and forth.
"Uh, Thomas Pensow, and I am a wizard... What's 'movies'?" Thomas said back to John, then glanced at Plague Knight and added, "and what's 'bombs'?"
Meanwhile, Kelsey couldn't take it anymore, and broke down crying. She stopped trying to push Ara away, but didn't return the hugging either. It sounded like she tried to say then mutter something, but with all the blubbering and wailing it came out completely unintelligible.
You are reading this.Morty sat on the sidelines as things continued to play ou, unsure of how to properly deal with the mounting pressure to get people up and at them before the... lobster thing, whatever it was, decided to come back their way. Occasionally he tried to get a word in edgewise with someon but for the most part few people had time to deal with a fifteen year old kid who was way out of his depth and/or his grandfather, who was - if Cole was anything to go by- liable to get stabbed or shot or... demon'd to death within the next fifteen minutes if he decided to do something really stupid.
"Morty- " Rick kicked open the door, revealing a bundle of... stuff in his arms, things that looked as though they'd been slapped together from a bunch of discarded kitchen junk and whatever bits of sci-fi junk Rick kept in his his pockets. "-Morty - I need you."
"Me?"
"I need y-y*urp* your delicate little *hrk* hands for this, Morty, th-this is gonna be a, a, real delicate operation here." Rick shot a glance at Cole as though daring him to try
"Rick, c-can't you do it by yourself? I mean, uh, I-we-you- you know, we got some real dangerous stuff going on here." Morty looked lamely around at the makeshift medical ward, which seemed to be doing quite well without him.
"Morty, s-stop lying to yourself, y-you *urp* you're being useless here. Go *urp* go... help me... look, apply your talents where they can be used - and by "talents", I mean you having little hands, hands small enough t-to reach inside the quantum refraculator, Morty." Rick grabbed his grandson by the arm and dragged him out to where he'd parked the submarine. "You gotta *urp* you gotta learn that your- your dreams don't live up to reality, Morty. That's what I'm trying to say..."
"Aw, jeez."

It was fortunate that Plague Knight wore a face concealing, expressionless mask, or else Thomas would have been hit by the sheer withering incredulous death glare the alchemist was giving the boy right now.
".......you lived a very sheltered life, have you?" the knight said in a low, calm voice, sounding insulted by the young wizard's ignorance.
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HITTING HELPY!!Jack assured Rex that no one would blame them for protecting themselves. The teen with goggles wasn't so optimistic in that regard. He had met a lot of people that questioned his actions.
"I can think of a few people"
Right at that moment, Plague Knight approached the scene and asked Rex what sort of plan they had to attack the Leviathan.
"Well, we fly up to him and try to finish it off from the inside. I'm still working on the details" he responded to the knight just as Tairee was explaining her limitations in trying to help the people of the city to Jack.
Tairee dropped her neutral accent and exploded at Rex's attitude regarding Kelsey's situation, sarcastically comparing her background (adult, willingly joined the Ruckus, higher body count) to Mary's. Rex felt he needed to explain himself. He never thought he would hate a little girl so much but Mary had taken advantage of his—everyone's good nature to help hide her true colors. Maybe some of that anger was fueled by betrayal. Something unfortunately familiar to Rex.
"T-that's different! Kelsey is like most EVOs I fight. They can't help themselves and attack people because something is screwing with their minds. Sure, she chose to join the Ruckus in the first place but no one deserves to be brainwashed. Mary, though... she is not sane, you know? This isn't just the demon's influence, she's messed up"
Jack on his part, agreed with Tairee and tried to put into words how kids were less judgemental but more easily corruptible than teenagers or adults. It was basically the same idea Tairee had tried to explain to him since Mary had killed Cole but hearing it from someone (that looked) his age made Rex a bit more open to reconsider it. Still, both of them appeared to think Rex was going to beat her into a pulp, which was far from the truth. It was hard for him to admit it, but... he really only wanted an explanation. He kind of had already gotten one but things didn't add up and Rex wanted to believe he hadn't heard the whole story because otherwise, Mary was a really, really screwed up individual. Would they be able to save her if that was the case?
"You are all acting like I'm going to kill her. I just want to see her in jail... Well, more like an asylum. At least make her talk to a therapist"
Jack asked the librarian if Mary was safe now. Maybe Rex could get Tairee's help to bring the girl to the library and make her see the error of her ways. This time for real.
"She is walking around the city, where the Ruckus are still active and there is a giant rock shrimp floating around, instead of being safe here. Which means we need your help if you want to actually let her grow up to be a not-so-unstable woman" The mention of the Leviathan made Rex remember that the challenge still had to be dealt with "That reminds me, we're gonna need a lot of flare guns"

While he was still talking to Zelda and Caro, Sans was still paying attention to the argument going on between Rex and Miss Tairee which frankly seemed all kinds of pointless to him. The subject of that little girl was starting to get really annoying to him in part because it reminded him of how he let his past experiences cloud his judgement and it looked like the same was happening to Rex.
Thinking about it he hadn't seen that girl since the animal day. Which was odd, considering how much Tairee seemed to care about her, she didn't say anything about her during the zombie day, one would think she would try to get people to look out for her and even now she didn't seem too concerned about her even though the tunnels are full of killer robots. Thinking about that made him also think about what Caro said about Tairee having changed people's fate before she asked her to do so for him... That made him wonder... Well, only one way to find out.
"rex, c'mon," said Sans, trying to draw the boy's attention, "that little girl isn't even in the city anymore, you're not going to be seein' her behind bars anytime soon, it's better for you to just let go and move on," he explained, shrugging.
Cole shot a glare right back at Rick as the old man approached, and it looked for a second as though the spirit was considering having a go at him, before he apparently dismissed him, looking back at Nails, then following him to the boardwalk.
"I...he's...plain. Blue trousers, a white shirt...mostly bald..." Cole looked around, putting a hand to his temple, then started in a particular direction. "This way...he is this way. ...when I see him, I will point, and then make us invisible so you can get close enough. Is that all right?"
Ara knew all too well how much of a toll a person's suffering could take on them. There was only so much one could endure before breaking, and this did extend to sorrow. Which was why, instead of trying to stop the woman from crying, she started holding her much more gently, and encouraged her to simply cry to her heart's content.
"It's okay, miss," she assured, placing a hand on the crying warrior's head. "Just let it all out now."
For some reason, the whole situation felt strangely nostalgic to her. It reminded her of the time her brother had found her crying, and allowed her to cry on his shoulder. It had been very comforting for her to know there was someone she could rely on, someone who actually cared about her and wished to see her well.
It did not take long for the tears to slowly start flowing down her cheeks as well.
Viola I Library (Docks) I The Re-Wonders Of Flight
Let it be said that while I do know how it feels like to have flown through the air, the sensation never grew dull for me. It was, perhaps, the only closest time that I managed to finally feel 'free' myself, before my contract was over. I must've been dazed in wonderment myself, using my powers as a Witch for the first few times, feeling myself move around without actually being there.
So when the opportunity to re-experience all of that again, of course I decided to take it. The first few seconds of wonderment of it was now forever lost on me, but the sensation is still there. Though when Seiga gently brought me up to the sky, it felt different.
For one, it's not simply just my mind, but my body flying up high in the sky. Secondly, it was she who has full control of the flight, not me. The experience was... refreshing, to say the least. And the view. She was definitely right about the view. I never really given the scenery much thought whenever I 'extended' my view from my house, so this really did open my eyes.
Then again, I've been cooped up in the forest for who knows how long, seeing the very same forests and scenery every single day; so the novelty out of seeing new sights and wonders is especially effective on me. Can you really blame me for staring at everything like a child right now?
When the time came for us to descend, the hermit brought us closer to the nearby land before finally landing.
"That was really enlightening," I spoke to Seiga, chuckling. "Almost made me wish I had my powers back~ Or become a hermit, just like yourself,"
"I have not! And that's rather rude of you to say!" Thomas quipped back at Plague Knight. "I am fairly certain those things do not exist in my world, so how would I know of them?!" the young wizard continued in an offended tone.
Meanwhile, Miss Tairee continued to glare slightly at Rex, even as Jack was responding- until Sans spoke up, whereupon her eyes widened a tad as she looked towards the skeleton, then narrowed a bit. Then she sat back down and looked at Jack, taking a moment to regain her composure. "What I can do to help is exactly what I've been doing. That's what I was trying to get across to you with my metaphor. Wouldn't you, in that hypothetical scenario, still do everything in your power to protect children and spread fun to them, just without using that specific spell? Wouldn't you skirt around what's forbidden by the rules as closely as you can, but without ever risking breaking those rules, even on accident?" Miss Tairee explained to Jack, a bit rhetorically. "... And yes, Mary is fine" she added, then turned her eyes on Rex again and lowered her eyebrows.
"I did not forget that your goal is to throw her in jail, Rex. It's not your course of action I doubt, but your judgements and bias. I still think you're letting the fact that one of her victims was your friend get to you" Miss Tairee told Rex simply, then looked to her computer and started typing. As Kelsey and Ara continued crying off to one side, after a short wait there was a blur in the air and a suitcase with ten flareguns appeared in front of Rex on a nearby table.
"Alright, bald, blue pants, white shirt. Now that I can work with" Nails muttered, and started moving the way Cole was, hastening his steps to get just ahead of Cole. "You said you have to stay close for this? Here, take my arm" the militia man added, and held out his left arm with his fist balled up as he got hold of his SMG with his right hand.
They had to round a slight bend as the boardwalk had an overall curved shape to it, but sure enough there was the Ruckus member of Cole's description out ahead, moving through the crowd towards the docks while occasionally glancing back and forth.

You are reading this.Sophie simply stood where she was and stared as Yoshika tripped, got back up, and... pleaded for her life? The lilac-haired girl tilted her head at the jiangshi, as was her usual way of expressing herself. "...Why would I do that?" she asked straightaway. "I only agreed to detain you if you or Seiga threatened me or anyone else."
Cole looked at Nails for a moment, looking a little confused, before hesitantly reaching out to get hold of his arm just above the wrist, glancing around for a second before he fixed his gaze on one man in particular nearby. The spirit studied him for a moment, head going to the side, before he stepped a little quicker, pointing at the man, nodding frantically, as though to get that point across.
Then Nails would be aware of a green mist sweeping across his vision, and glancing down would show him a complete lack of anything...he and Cole were both hidden entirely from sight. Cole just tightened his grip on the other man's arm, pushing at it a little as though to urge him to hurry towards the Ruckus member.
However, she still appreciated the natural beauty of the ocean all the same. She'd grown weary of many things, but the world around her was still nice to look at.
Viola seemed to enjoy it as much as she did, and she lamented her lost powers. More importantly, she brought up a conversation point Seiga was sure she was going to have to sneak in somewhere. A topic she'd been waiting for, even before she knew her secret.
Seiga chuckled herself, and nodded vigorously. "If you ever have the desire to meditate for some strange reason, doing it over the open ocean is the best. And..."
She waited for a moment as the two of them walked toward a hatch, as she pondered if she wanted to spring this opportunity just yet. Ultimately, she decided yes. "...You know, becoming a hermit is still an option~"
Her common sense dictated that maybe threatening someone with the revelation of a damning secret while their ally was standing next to them wasn't the best idea in the world. She used her expert wordcrafting abilities to twist that sentence into a nicer one, coming up with, "...saaaiiiid that you would...detain...me. Eheh."
Perfect!
She got off the ground and quickly bowed to the both of them, still trying to make herself not a nuisance. "I'm sorry, blonde lady, it's just that," she said before pausing for a moment, trying to come up with something convincing, "me and...uh...Sally had a bit of a, uh, misunderstanding a while back...she didn't do anything bad, or anything, uhh..."
"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..."
"...I'm Yoshika." Nailed it. Yes. Mysteriously pale-like-her blonde girl would have to respond with an introduction, and you just don't ask questions in the middle of an introduction! Seiga taught her well.

"Well, that's worrying," Zelda said, "But if you were able to hurt it, even slightly, that probably means it's not as invincible as it sounds. Very tough, yes, but not invincible." She frowned. "My suggestion would be to try take it down one part at a time. Keep hitting one spot over and over until it breaks, moving on until the entire thing has been destroyed. Or do what Sans said and try and take it down from the inside out. I'd suggest baiting it into eating someone, but by the sounds of things this isn't a living being...."
Then Sans got involved in one of the other conversations, and judging by what he was saying, Mary had come up again. It'd been days since the last major thing involving her, and people were still fighting over her? According to Sans, she wasn't even in the city anymore. Her actions here were really something.
She remained quiet herself, hoping that this wasn't going to escalate any further.
Icon by Civvi the Civilian! There wasn't much of note on the militia channel, though they had another militia manning a turret in case the monster passed in range. Maybe they would manage to have enough fire power after all:
Meanwhile the odd looking girl continued to be an oddly behaved girl as well, clearly Sophie made her nervous. "I'm Curly Brace. And what kind of misunderstanding would that be?" She asked, more directed at Sophie than Yoshika, who wasn't looking very credible at the moment. Maybe it was just the nerves, but they might not have much time before someone needed to shoot that stone monster.
Sans decided to deflate the situation and tried to convince Rex that holding the grudge wasn't worth it now that the girl was gone. He almost hoped the skeleton was screwing with him. It would have been really inappropriate but it woudn't have been true.
"What?"
Meanwhile Tairee continued her metaphor related to Jack about some man on the Moon and tried to clearly explain that while she couldn't do certain things, she always bent the rules as far as she could to make everyone happy. Rex couldn't believe what he was hearing. It's not that he couldn't empathize with her situation but, rather, that he knew where she was going with this and he didn't like it one bit.
She accused him of being biased because Mary had attacked one of his friends. She kinda had a point, Vendral and Frederick had met the pointy end of his sword for killing Cole and Mary had done just that. But it's not like Rex was going to admit that. Especially not right now.
"Me? You are the one letting her age get in the way of what happened!"
The librarian didn't confirm or deny what Sans said. She didn't seem to ackwoledge it but the look on her face was obvious. Sans was right. Mary had left the city sometime between the end of Day 8 and today.
"Y-you let her go?" he didn't even wait for an answer "You actually let her free after everything she did?"
Tairee had filled Rex's request and made a suitcase full of flare guns appear on a table near them. He built one of his smack hands without really thinking about it. It's like something else had taken over his body and was just interested in pummeling something... or someone.
He pointed at Tairee with his normal hand, resting his oversized gauntlet on her desk "How is that" His anger moved up to his hand and when he said that word he couldn't help but emphasize it by pressing Tairee's desk without thinking until the wood cracked "going to solve anything? She's still the same crazy kid, only now she's not a freak on the outside"
He had officially lost it. He didn't even wait for Tairee's response, he didn't want to deal with her scolding again. He looked back at the suitcase that she had typed up out of nowhere. Those guns were there just... mocking him. Did Tairee really expect him to go fight the creature that had already killed him and almost had claimed Ben's life so his boss could keep writing the world's least imaginative novel? No, that wasn't gonna happen.
With a swing of his construct, Rex crushed the table, the suitcase, a few chairs, and probably the ground, too.

Ben's conversation with Thomas and John was interrupted by the sound of Rex's construct pummeling into the ground. The ground shook and Ben yelped, falling to the ground. He winced a little, then dusted himself off and jumped to his feet.
"Hey!" Ben shouted. "What's the big idea here?! What's going on?!" He blinked, eyes widening a bit when he saw the state the table and the surrounding chairs were suddenly put on. "Geez, Rex," he muttered.
I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Blue-san corrected him on the fairy thing and introduced herself formally as the "Hermit" Seiga Kaku, before asking him about a little girl with a hat and a tag on her forehead. "I'm afraid not," he began, before Lucas (oh right, he was still here) interjected with an answer of his own and began asking if Hermits were anything like the "magypsies" that must have been something specific to his world that he knew nothing about.
From there he completely lost the conversation, and the confusion of watching the entire building suddenly distorting and repairing itself didn't help matters.
Well, he still had yet to address most of the things he came for. He went downstairs, thinking to ask for any help with finding Jack oh there he was.
Well there was one thing off his list.
There was a crowd with him including the librarian, who was yelling at Goggles over something he had no context for, and Ara who was hugging a woman who seemed on the verge of a breakdown.
He quietly came up to Jack and lightly tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey Jack! Is this a bad time, or...?"
