"Oh, that's one of my dolls!" She explained after taking a quick look at the thing Ben was asking about. "See, I thought the drawing needed a bit of blue, so I just added a doll somewhere where it wouldn't bother so much."

It was at this point that the girl frowned a little bit, not in anger, but in disappointment.

"It's sad that none of them are here," she admitted. They always kept me company when I was lonely, even after I met my first friends. I miss them. And Ib, and Garry, and dad, and my brothers and sisters... I wish they were all here with me."

"Oh, I almost forgot. Have you met Lune?" Rex said while pointing at the girl.

"That'd... that'd be cool, I guess," said Morty in response to Lune's story. "I mean... uh... I don't even have my driver's license yet, you know? I ca-I don't think I could drive a giant robot or whatever."

Eventually the group headed into the main foyer of the library; where the group was joined by a few newcomers. One of them was a little blue woman named Sadness; if nothing else, the name certainly was descriptive, considering that she looked like she'd burst into tears at the slightest provocation. The girl- what was her name, uh, Mary- from earlier was still there, now proudly brandishing a picture she'd drawn in the interim.

The fact that the picture was childishly scrawled using crayon only heightened the rather disturbing picture; to Morty it looked like something that would require a visit from the school psychiatrist.

"Oh man... that's, uh, th-that's a real... interesting picture," he observed, cocking his head and staring at it, doing his best to smile appraisingly note  "I, uh, I real- I like the... uh... the mon-monster over there. Very... imaginative?" Morty awkwardly played with his shirt collar as he tried to think of something positive to say.

"Affirmative," responded Legion to Rex, in regards to trying to stay on top of the humor.

The geth looked over to Lune, then back to Rex. "No. I have not met individual designated Lune."

"Afterlife?" Undyne blinked as she digested this. "But you-" Oh. Right. Like the librarian told them, no one stayed dead. She hadn't expected it to be that fast, though. "Huh. Well even if you did die, I'm glad you're alive."

Then Rex pointed out Lune, and Undyne grinned.

"Hey hey, it's the armored girl. Uh, other armored girl." Undyne's eyes flicked over to Ashe for a moment. "Or, wait... did your hair change color or was that someone else helping us fight the plant and bug?"

After a while, Viktor finally made his way back to the library and entered it, after entering the library he looked around before he noticed the geth he saw die now alive and well as if nothing happened.

"Legion. It is good to see you. Seems that this revival magic works after all." He said as he made his way to where Legion was.

Legion then swivelled to face Undyne. When it spoke, it sounded relatively unsure of itself. Almost... shaken. "Yes. This unit was terminated approximately thirty-three minutes and twelve seconds ago. I... was not a match for the enemy. I am lucky."

Ben nodded, understandingly.

"I feel what you mean, Mary. I miss Grandpa and Gwen. As much as I don't like to admit it, we're a team. And we're family, and they're probably worried sick about me right now," he told her. He crossed his arms and sighed. "One of these days we'll find a way back home, and then we'll get to be with the people we care about. But while we're here we have to stick together."

His solemn frown turned into a glare.

"And one of these days I'll find the guy that brought us here and show him what I'm made of, Hero-style!" he exclaimed, posing with his (still-offline) watch.

"I miss my friends, the other emotions..." Sadness offered, looking almost happy to be talking about something depressing. "Joy and Fear and Disgust and Anger. And Riley, our girl."

[...]

After their conversation

Finally, Sadness left the conversation and went back up to the second floor. She curled up in the spot she had been in before and tried to read some books, but by now it was too dark.

First day alone...Sadness sighed unhappily. She didn't need to sleep - she didn't think so, at least - but it was a habit to rest whenever Riley fell asleep after a long day. Was it nighttime back in San Francisco too?

Eventually, Sadness drifted off...she wasn't sure what made her so sleepy, but it might have had something to do with the faint chill that permeated the floorboards...

Library

"So some of you are just going to sleep here again? Not like there's plenty of hotels around or anything" Miss Tairee muttered to herself as she typed away on her keyboard. After a minute and with another quick blur, a pile of rolled up sleeping bags appeared next to the center desk. Some more typing and another blur on a table nearby had a collection of military MREs appear, enough for everyone currently in the library to have at least one. Miss Tairee checked one last thing on her computer, then glanced up at the people in the library. "Well it is extremely late, and I must bid you good night" she told them simply, then typed in another quick command into her computer, and disappeared in a blur. It was pretty late now, the sky outside being black though the city was still alight with the glowing flora. Most of the city was asleep, and it seemed like now was probably a good time to join them.

Those who stayed up during the night would, presumably the stroke of midnight, experience that similar effect of the world slowing and blurring again. After staying blurry for a few moments, it refocused and time seemed to resume. It looked like the city was back to 'normal' as it had been the first day. Was nothing different? Well, a few of the other people were now gone...

... Also, it did seem just a little colder now, and outside small flecks of snow were starting to drift down from above...

Somewhere...

"You sent some of them back?" Miss Tairee asked. Her question was followed by the sound of a pen writing on paper.

"It is not necessary that they all remain for the whole duration. Besides, seeing how they react to some of their friends being suddenly gone will be interesting."

"Seems a bit... Unfair. Well, what's the plan for the next day?" Miss Tairee questioned again. More scribbling noise, and a piece of paper floated over to her for her to read.

"Now that they've dealt with hostile entities, I wish to see how they deal with a hostile environment. To keep them from cheating, you will not be allowed to help them for the day; you may find books for them, but nothing else."

Miss Tairee read the paper in silence for a few moments, then looked up. "Wait, no help at all? But there's still kids in there!" Miss Tairee objected. More scribbling noise.

"Yes, and we went over this the other night. Horrible things happen to children in many universes. You know that as well as I do; I thought you had already come to terms with that sort of knowledge. Would you have me rewrite the fabric of every reality that exists so that no child ever comes to harm?"

Miss Tairee sighed and rubbed her forehead for a moment. "... You're right, I'm sorry sir. It's just... Difficult for me to deal with seeing first hand" Miss Tairee admitted. More scribbling noise.

"I understand. Would you prefer to remain absent for the day?" Miss Tairee said nothing, and there was more scribbling. "Would you be able to handle watching children freeze to death while you can do nothing to help?"

"... No sir." Miss Tairee muttered after a pause. More scribbling.

"Very well. You will have the day off."

Miss Tairee remained silent for some time, until finally she spoke up. "Sir, I think they should be given a break day as well. Wouldn't it be more interesting to contrast the challenging days with days off to see the way they behave in each? Rather than just constant challenges all the time?" Miss Tairee suggested. There was a pause, before more scribbling.

"Yes, I think you are right. I was already intending that not every day be hostile, and you just gave me an excellent idea." Miss Tairee smiled, and there was more scribbling. "For another day. This next day will still be what I decided on before; that is final." Miss Tairee's smile disappeared, and she looked a bit dejected.

"Very well sir... I think I will just put myself in stasis until the next day then" Miss Tairee said, then brought up her holographic screen to type in a few commands. There was a blur, and then she seemed frozen in place, completely unmoving.

Day three, Stillness of the Cold

Dawn seemed to be starting to break, based on it becoming lighter, but it was missing that usual orange tint due to the city being awash in white; it was also dimmer than usual. This seemed to be because of the layer of paper-clouds above the city that snow and frozen pieces of paper were drifting down from. The other major change was that the city was surrounded on all sides by massive glacier cliffs that towered up so high that the tops of them were obscured in the clouds.

But, other than the city being colder and seeming a bit closed in... It wasn't really that bad. There was actually a serene calmness to it, as the snow on the ground and drifting down from above was muffling distant sounds, making everything that wasn't close by absolutely silent. If it weren't for the people visible walking about here and there, one could almost think the city was uninhabited.

The majority of the populous seemed to be looking for clothing stores to raid for winter clothing. Down one of the streets from the library, a crowd of people had gathered around one such store, and a few individuals were passing out or just tossing clothes through the busted display window.

Inside the library, Miss Tairee had not reappeared...

Asgore's House

The Boss Monster was currently wearing his royal attire while taking a look at himself in the mirror.

"Alphys and Papyrus both have been really worried about Undyne's disappearance. It's only been two days but it's not like her to just vanish like that..." he sighed then went to have breakfast "I can only hope she's all right, but at the same time I wonder if there's something more to it."

As Asgore sat down on his table to eat something before having to leave and carry on with his life, he suddenly found himself unable to move and then suddenly it looked like reality around him was breaking down until he was left in a void of darkness.

Balconies - City

And suddenly, like it was all a bad dream, everything came back. Except that now he was sitting on the ground in the middle of a freezing city that he didn't remember ever seeing before.

"Uh... This is most definitely not Snowdin..." he said to himself as he stood up "Where am I now...?"

He then began walking around trying to get some sense of where he was, thankfully the cold didn't bother him too much since he was covered in fur, plus he could also use fire magic in case things started getting too cold for even him to withstand.

As he walked around he was starting to wonder if that was the place Undyne had vanished to.

The Abduction, T+72 Hours

Legion, as usual, had noted the change in scenery; the city had seemed to return to normal, though what exactly the major change was would need to be noted later.

At first light the geth headed over to a second-level window to discover it had rearranged itself into arctic conditions: snow and frozen paper drifted down from the clouds above the city, and the geth spied glaciers pinning in the walls. It was a cold-weather environment, much like Noveria or the poles of garden worlds. Temperature was likely below the freezing point.

Legion didn't care, though. It couldn't feel cold the same way an organic could.

It noticed citizens of the city were bustling about, getting winter clothing to surpass their organic weakness to temperature extremes. The geth idly watched as several people who had broken into a clothing store had started throwing some out to a gathered crowd.

Yet it still felt a chill. One that it could attribute to its death naught but several hours ago.

The Library

Ben nodded at Sadness. He would normally question her statements about her fellow emotions but he was both too tired and too hungry.

"We need to go to bed. Sorry, I'm just too tired..." he moaned, yawning as his stomach roared. He turned to find that a sleeping bag had already appeared in the library. He climbed into it, stretched, and closed his eyes.

In the morning

Ben's eyes shot open as a sudden chill rushed across the room. He was so hungry that he could barely sleep, and the sudden biting cold wasn't helping matters either. He bolted up, shivering and clattering his teeth. He looked around, seeing that it had started snowing. Normally, it wouldn't have looked that bad, but he was so hungry and so caught off guard by the cold (he was wearing summer clothes, after all!) that it felt even more cold to him than it actually was.

He looked around, seeing the others (except for a few he heard on the second floor) were still asleep. He also noticed Miss Tairee was gone. Guess she decided to go play in the snow or something. He would normally do so too, but again, too hungry. He had to find something now, or he'd probably starve. But who was fast enough, while also not being bothered by the cold? Ben had a pretty decent idea. He started fiddling with his Omnitrix and started turning the dials until a quadrupedal creature showed up on the face.

"Time for Wildmutt!" he said to himself. Then, he pushed the button.

A sudden green flash of light, and within seconds, Ben bulked up again, this time hunching over and growing large fangs and thick orange fur all over his body. Soon, he was on all fours, and he resembled a faceless (except for the prominent fanged mouth) dog-like creature with orange fur and claws on its hands and feet. His back fur stood up in short "quills", and on his left shoulder sat a metal shoulder pad with the Omnitrix logo on it. Finally, the green light faded.

"Rraaaggh!" Wildmutt let out a growling roar (since he was incapable of speaking in this form), and then started bounding on all fours through the snowy city.

...admittedly this probably wasn't the best idea.

The snow everywhere was masking the scents of the city, and giving his entire "vision" a hazy, unclear quality. Nonetheless, he tried to sniff out the strongest smell of food among the city streets.

Adam stepped into the Library and attempted to warm himself, he had been off on his own the past few days attempting to study the city layout, sadly that was not a option as it changed... again.

The cyber cop took a look about and saw a large animal bound out of the Library.

"The hell?"

Adam figuring it was best not to ask just yet, stepped in, and saw everyone else, "Great, just me and my thoughts again..." he muttered pulling a cigarette from his coat and lighting it.

The Second Day (Before Midnight)

Lune watched the sleeping bags and the MREs poof into existence with amazement. If she worked for the Steel Dragons, she would be one of the more reliable workers to count on. She listened to Miss Tairee talk for a bit and nods.

"Alright... I'll head to bed as soon as I finish my ration."

Lune grabbed and wolfed down an MRE in a heartbeat. Man, she was hungry. After finishing her MRE, she placed it in a trashcan. She went inside her sleeping bag and shut her eyes.

The Third Day

Her eyes are still shut, and she somehow doesn't notice the sudden change in temperature. It's probably because she hasn't waken up completely. Lune heard Ben transform and just mumbled "Could you please keep it down? I still need my beauty rest," before snoring some more. She started to talk in her sleep.

"Oh, Masaki. These guys are so tough! Thank god, I have you and the other Elemental Lords by my side. Oh, you want me to use Psycho Blaster on these guys? Alright, Psycho Blaster!"

Lune rolled around the room in her sleeping bag with a smile on her face before stopping in her original position and snoring loudly. Guess she was having an interesting dream.

Morty cracked open an eye and instantly regretted it. The warm, tropical climate of the previous day had vanished in the night, replaced with bitingly cold air. "Aw jeez..." he muttered, doing his best to wrap the thin nylon bag around himself. Through the sleepy haze, he thought he saw something big and orange go galumphing off through the doorway... or was it a dream? It was hard to tell. At any rate, maybe Morty could nod off for a few more minutes before he had to deal with the surreal nightmare that was life these days...

About five minutes after Morty had slipped back into a blissful dream about Jessica note  a lanky and all-too-familiar figure kicked his way through the main door of the library.

"Hey, Morty, remember yesterday when I said this *urp* asshole would bury us under a glacier?" he shouted, swinging a bottle of slushy alcohol around in one hand. "Rem-remember that, huh- remember how I said that and nobody paid attention to me? Yeah! I was right, bitches! Wubba-lubba-dub-dub!" The figure- who was clearly Rick, now clad in a red parka and a heavy wool scarf- threw a coat and gloves to Morty, who zipped himself into the bulky clothes while trying to blink the sleep out of his eyes.

"... Y-y-yeah, Rick, I kinda, I kinda... -I mean, I gue-I thought, you were just being rhetorical there?"

"Here's a tip, Morty: I know when I'm *urp* being rhetorical, alright, Morty?!" he said to his grandson, not caring if anybody else was sleeping, "Here's the game plan. It's like The Day After Tomorrow out there, Morty; *urp* pe-people are-they- they're FREEEEEEAURGHking out already and going on looting sprees. I got us some winter stuff already, but it's gonna get worse than that soon. I mean, I mean... i-it's like it's 1996 and people are fighting over *urp* fuck-fucking Tickle Me Elmo dolls aaaaall over again. And the temperature is decreasing by a degree every few minutes, Morty! By lunchtime we'll be like those dead mammoths in your stupid *urp* museum field trip!"

"Man, Rick, The Day After Tomorrow was a real, it was a really bad movie, Rick. I mean... like, I don't wanna have to spend the whole day freezing to death in a library like in that movie, you know? That'd be a real, that'd be real downer way to go."

"Yeah, Morty, that movie really was shit. Also I think Ben turned into a weird dog thing or something. I saw him go running off over, uh, over that way. Just thought you should know."

City

Asgore kept going with his exploration of the city, using his cape to cover most of his body to help him against the cold. It seemed like the entire city was surrounded by glaciers, making him wonder why anyone would try building a city in such a dangerous area. Oddly every time he looked around it seemed like the area around him just changed at random, or it could just be that he wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings like he probably should.

The monster remained quiet for the most part, until he began to hear his stomach rumble. Indeed he ended up in that place before he could eat his breakfast and now he really needed something to eat. After rubbing his stomach a little bit, Asgore temporarily changed his goal from finding out where exactly he was to looking for any sort of restaurant or anywhere he could find some food in.

Going around with an empty stomach would do him no good after all.

Equestria: Castle of Friendship

It had been roughly a week since Twilight's last big mission. Lot of time-traveling shenanigans. There wasn't much going on now, though, and she was bored. Only so many books in the castle to read through. So she decided to step out for a bit and see what her friends were up to. She asked Spike to keep things in order and trotted to the front door. But just as she touched it, she all of a sudden couldn't move anymore, and darkness started surrounding her. She tried to call for help, but no sound came from her mouth...

City: Balconies

When Twilight came to, she was in an unfamiliar environment. She was on a balcony in a very cold city she had never been to before. "Where am I..."

She wasn't going to find answers just by standing around, so she stepped out onto the walkway and walked around this new place.

The Library

Stepping down to the bottom floor Legion approached Rick and Adam. The geth heard from Rick that the temperature was dropping by one degree every few minutes. This was... worrying; the geth had no desire to experience death again even if such an endeavour was survivable, though it also had no doubt that should it return to the collective like this it would be used as a thanatonaut. At cold enough temperatures everything stopped.

Legion took a moment to realize that would mean that it would survive. It would just become incapable of operation until the city changed and it could "wake up".

The rest of the organics, however, would freeze to death. Not pleasant. Not like going to sleep.

Terrifying.

"I would recommend devising or acquiring some method of regulating temperature," stated Legion. "Organics are weak to temperature extremes. While death is apparently non-permanent here, I believe you would wish to avoid the extended pain of freezing to death," the geth explained.

Lune woke up upon hearing the library door kicked open. Her eyes appeared bloodshot and she glared at whoever performed the deed. There will be hell to pay!

"Alright...What's going on here," asked Lune. "Can't you see I'm trying to..."

Suddenly, she noticed the chill in the room and began to shiver. Oh, god! Why is it so cold today!? She looked out of the window and she found her answer. Apparently, today was a snow day. And she all she brought was a tank top and some jeans. Well, she could change into the Valsione, but how could that protect against the cold?
