What about playing as Saitama from some point during his three-year training period? Maybe after two years, when you assume he just broke his human limiter cap? He would only be a regular amount of strong at that point (but you can keep his jaded nothing-can-beat-me personality just for fun).
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.![]()
Thing is, even at 'destroying a car' level, Saitama would still obliterate every other player character in 1 on 1. A punch that could destroy a car could kill a human instantly. 20 of those is more than enough to defeat any of the P Cs, and he can throw that many in one second. Even if they all ganged up on him, it's doubtful they'd be able to win.
During the course of this game we've had two major fights so far and both have ended rather quickly. The reason I signed up as Saitama is because I view this game as more about characters interacting and their responses to problems rather than fighting. Sure Saitama is OP in fights, but what about things that can't be dealt with by punching them?
Anyway, if you still insist then I think I'm just going to go with Jack instead.
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?Yes, it is, but that's no excuse. Playing as a character who simply can't lose removes an entire element of interaction between yourself and other player characters. And more to the point, a character like Saitama un-nerfed would completely diminish any boss fight I could use in the RP; it's either I contrive some way that he couldn't punch it, probably by having it fly, (which would remove the ability for some of the other characters to fight it either) or settle with having it be ended in one punch by one character, removing any challenge or fun for the other players.
So yes, I do insist on having Saitama nerfed. Most of the combat-oriented characters currently in could still survive one such punch, and would get knocked away from Saitama in the process; he'd have to get them into the right kind of position before he could just wail away to win instantly. I didn't say it had to be easy for him to be beaten, just possible.
You are reading this.
I know he has to be nerfed. I'm not arguing that - apologizes if I've caused any confusion - but rather the degree of nerfing. My main point was that your proposed nerfs didn't actually solve the problem you presented.
Even if the first punch knocked them away, at the speed I gave last page he could just Flash Step behind them and punch them again. With the level of power you suggested both boss fights we've had thus far would still be trivialized, as Saitama could just rapid-fire punch them all to death.
I'll gladly nerf him down to the level you requested at the top of this page, but he'll still outclass nearly all of the other P Cs.
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?Ah, my mistake then. I see what you mean; then I'm going to go back to saying the highest I'll allow is about equivalent to the extremes of Ben's transformations. That way he's no better than anyone else in any of those departments individually, but he does have all three going for him at once. That would make him stronger than most of the PCs, but not to the point where most of them couldn't still stand a chance against him if they found something to use to their advantage.
Of course that's the highest I'll allow. I'm leaving the door open if you want to play with him being nerfed even further than that; have him nerfed down to being just a normal human equivalent for all I care.
Or stick with Jack. Your choice.
(Also trust me, while Brother Marcus would probably have a hard time with Saitama at this level, Queen Bee and Plantera would've still killed him if he'd gone in against them solo.)
You are reading this.Story: Sam and Max
Name: Sam
Age, gender, and species: Mid to Late 40s, Male, Anthropomorphic Dog
Appearance:
Personality: Level headed most of the time, but can resort to violence. Sam is very observant often employing his kleptomaniac tendencies to pick up random objects for random use. This would mark his as rather mad, except he has a tendency to use these objects most of the time. Sam is often calm and collected in every day conversation, probing for information using irrelevant wording and seemingly aloof statements to put whoever he's talking to at ease. Now if only Max didn't put him on edge...
Back story: Sam is a Freelance Police officer along with his little buddy Max, and has solved many a caper assigned by the mysterious 'commissioner' over his tenure. There was a good deal of collateral damage to go along with this successful work, but details are just details. Sam has done just about everything with Max, from going inside of a virtual world to stop a super computer, to going to Hell in order to stop a trio of former child stars from usurping Satan as ruler of Hell.
Skills/powers/abilities: Sam is a crack shot with his revolver, though he is often reluctant to use it. He also has the uncanny ability to use everyday items in ways that benefit his objective, from 'tear gas grenade launchers' (actually a salad shooter filled with onions that cost him and his little buddy ten grand. It still worked though) to one hundred thousand dollars...In food stamps.
Items: Sam doesn't go anywhere without his Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44 Magnum, quite the frightening gun for anyone on the wrong end. Sam however is often reluctant to pull his weapon on anyone unless he's sure they deserve it, in stark contrast to Max's trigger happy habits. Sam also carts around a simple cardboard box for him to store any interesting items he comes across for later use, though one has to wonder why such a small box can carry so many things like a bowling ball and a boxing glove at the same time...
Other: Sam is slightly overweight. He is not necessarily obese, but at the same time it's something he is very sensitive about, to a point of having hallucinations based on what he thinks others think about his less than girlish figure.
Name: Max
Age, Gender, Species: Mid to Late 40s, Male, 'Hyperactive Lagomorph' (Rabbit)
Appearance:
Personality: Very much shoot first and ask questions later. And usually those questions are 'Can I shoot him some more?'. Max is rather psychotic, and has a tendency to go off on violent sounding tangents on a whim. He's mostly harmless though. As long as he doesn't have his gun in his hand, in which case, RUN.
Back Story: The other half of the Freelance Police Officers, Max has been Sam's little buddy since they were kids, therefore making most of his more violent tendencies seem normal to Sam. Max often sits back and lets Sam do most of the detective work, wandering around whatever area they end up in and trying not to break anything. The key word being try. When the job gets hairy and things resort to violence however, Max comes alive, drawing his pistol out and opening fire on anything that moves and isn't Sam. Also, he drove a car once. He is not allowed to do that anymore.
Skills/Powers/Abilities: As stated before, Max is a very trigger happy rabbit, having a tendency to make people look more like swiss cheese when he's done with them. Now, where he keeps his gun is the true mystery, as he has spent the majority of his life completely naked. Whenever asked where he keeps his gun, he says 'None of your damn business'.
Items: Max has a spiritual bond with his Luger P08 pistol, meaning that if anyone tries to take it away from him, they will die. Slowly. Max usually doesn't carry anything else on him however, usually leaving that facet of the job to Sam and his cardboard box.
Other: Max is a frequent poker player, though that's not to say he's any good at it. His style is usually 'go all in, hope for the best'. Needless to say, he has accumulated crippling debt from this strategy.

That is all there is to say, and I will say no more.Story: Slightly Damned
Name: Kieri "Snowy" Suizahn
Age, gender, and species: 15, Female, Angel
Appearance: (I'd use an image, but I can't really find one that works, so) Pale skinned with blue eyes, blue hair (it's actually snow white, but died to match her robes and eyes), pointed elven like ears, dark blue tunic and pants with a long sleeved white undershirt, large white wings protruding from her back, light blue what I can only describe as slipper boots for shoes. Would you believe her favorite color is purple?
Personality: Kieri is a textbook definition of a Shirking Violet-a shy introverted person who believes very little in herself and often tries to downplay her skills as being unimpressive. At least, she's this way most of the time. Threaten someone she cares about or the general safety of those around her, and she'll go berserk, summoning her trusty sword and attempting to cleave you in two when she's not trying to freeze you. Kieri is still a very sweet girl most of the time though, so there's not much need for worry.
Back story: Kieri is the daughter of one of the greatest angel warriors of all time, her mother (who has not been named yet). You'd think with the war over though, Kieri would enjoy a simple life, free from much training and strife. If only, if only...However, her Mother was convinced that the war between angels and demons could start again at any moment, and therefore made sure both Kieri and her brother Kazai trained hard. Kieri's mother demanded perfection from her children, and when she didn't get it...That long sleeved white undershirt hides scars. Whether or not they're self inflicted or not is anyone's guess. So Kieri's life went until, under mysterious circumstances, she was dragged down to Media (Earth), and has been trying to get back home ever since. Along the way, she met two people who had escaped Hell in a similar manner that she had been pulled down from Heaven-Rhea Snaketail and Buwaro Elexion, the latter of which later became her boyfriend. He is also a demon. Yes this is awkward. And so it went, the trio traversing across the land of Media in order to find Kieri's brother, who she had been separated from. They found him. And then he was immediately kidnapped by a small army of demons. Kieri then broke all ties with Rhea and Buwaro, fully intending to go after the horde that kidnapped her brother by herself...
Skills/powers/abilities: As you can probably imagine with wings like those, Kieri can fly. However, she only has the strength in those wings to carry herself, so no one gets a piggy back sky ride from her. She is also quite proficient with a sword, as well as ice magic, which she can fire from her person or manipulate externally. She also knows two languages, her native Angelic, and Lingo (English). She can also transform into a snow rabbit, though this is less of an ability, more of a curse put on her by a spiteful demigod she ran into when she first arrived in Media. She often transforms between the two, Angel and Rabbit, when she sneezes. She still possesses her clothing when she turns back into an angel though. Curious.
Items: Kieri carries a sword, wrapped in simple median cloth to hide its craftsmanship from potential thieves and other unsavory sorts.
Other: You know how it was awkward that Kieri was dating a demon? It gets worse-Buwaro is a fire demon, and a fire demon was the species of demon responsible for her Dad losing one of his arms back during the war. A fire demon also killed her brother's boyfriend right in front of her. And Buwaro's older brother is also one of the figureheads of the demon army that kidnapped her brother. You can't really get more awkward than that, can you?
That is all there is to say, and I will say no more.Just stopping in to check these before my nap.
I'm familiar with Sam and Max secondhand from the old MMFRPG, and from the Poker Night games they were in, but I have not played any of the main Sam and Max games. Checking their Tv Tropes character page, the only thing that seems inconsistent is that you describe Sam as being very reluctant to use his gun, while the trope page claims it's just the opposite; it even has him listed for the Trigger-Happy trope.
Other than that, it seems accurate enough. Again, since I'm not familiar with the series directly I'd be interested to hear your take on the matter.
As for the second signup, Slightly Damned is a title I've recalled hearing every now and then but otherwise have no familiarity with. A quick look through her entry on the Tv Tropes character page looks perfectly accurate. I could accept her as is.
And now I'm outta here; I'll be back in a few hours.
You are reading this. The whole Sam being reluctant to use his gun was something I pulled from the Tell Tale Games-his trigger happy tendencies came from the original comics by Steve Purcell. I'm mostly familiar to Sam and Max through the Tell Tale games, so I mostly ended up taking character quirks from those games. This actually isn't the only thing Tell Tale changed about Sam's gun tendencies-Sam is a good shot in the Tell Tale series, but in the comics his aim is...Terrible, let's be frank.
I feel like I might have a lot more wiggle room to play with with Kieri though-Sam and Max would be purely comedy relief and combat, not a whole lot that this RP doesn't already have. Kieri though...I can have some fun with her.
I think I'll take on the role of Kieri for now. If I decide to change my mind, I can always fall back on Sam and Max. Of course, if there's a sequel eventually (a brief look tells me MMFRPG had at least one), I'll probably take Sam and Max under my fingers(?) again.

That is all there is to say, and I will say no more.Ah, so it's a difference between the original comic versions and game versions? Well you'd have to play as one version specifically so that would work then; I could accept Sam and Max.
It looks like you've made up your mind on Kieri though, so that's what I'll put for now.
Kieri "Snowy" Suizahn is accepted.
As for sequels to this game, that's a far off prospect I'm keeping on the back burner for now. This one alone could already be years of commitment, so I don't want to be promising that there will be a sequel for sure just yet.

You are reading this.If the sign-ups are still open, here's my character.
- Story: Shovel Knight
- Name: Specter Knight
- Age, Gender, and Species: Unknown, Male, Undead
- It's a bit hard to say what kind of Undead he is. Most likely, he's a ghost.
- Appearance: Here.
- Personality: Specter Knight is very serious, and is quite cold towards the living. In life, he was cruel and cunning, and is still quite so. He'll usually obey someone if doing so will benefit him. Honestly, he tries too hard to act cool, and is a tad overly sentimental.
- Backstory: He was recently brought back from the dead by The Enchantress. Without her magic, he's not quite sure how long it'll be before he succumbs to death again. He recently lost a locket of great importance to him.
- Skills/Powers/Abilities:
- He's capable of floating, and can teleport very short distances.
- He can temporarily plunge a room into darkness.
- He's quite competent with his scythe, able to toss it.
- Items:
- Scythe: His weapon of choice. It's quite sharp, and light enough to be thrown.

Somebody once told me the world was macaroni, I took a bite out of a treeWell, once again I still have not played any of Shovel Knight personally, nor do I have anyone available to reference who has. I was able to check the Tv Tropes character page entry, but unfortunately it leaves a lot of blanks. While nothing in your sheet seems to contradict what I can find, I have no way of knowing if the personality you describe for him is actually based on something or if you just made it up; because the Tv Tropes character page entry has literally nothing on his personality.
But other than that, I suppose it's alright.
Specter Knight is accepted.
You are reading this.- Story: Street Fighter, specifically III and all its spin-offs and expansions.
- Name: Alex
- Age, gender, and species: Late 20s, Male, American Human
- Appearance: That's me.
- Personality: Alex is crass and abrasive and is blunt with his opinions. He is prone to violent outbursts of aggression and is very straightforward in his opinions with an overwhelming desire to prove himself. Although he does have a softer side for people he cares about.
- Back story: Alex was an accomplished pro wrestler and had a rivalry with Hugo. He trained at the gym of Tom, a personal friend who was his mentor and both a brother and father since his parents died when he was young. Tom's daughter Patricia is like a little sister to Alex.
- When Tom was grievously wounded in a fight with Gill, Alex entered the third World Warrior Tournament in revenge, even though Gill won fairly. Alex won the tournament and defeated Gill. Once revenge was clear from his mind, Alex sought out Ryu, who had not been among the entrants in the tournament. Ryu defeated him soundly, and now Alex is wandering the world in search of worthy opponents. That's how he wound up in the city.
- Skills/powers/abilities: Alex is a skilled wrestler and kickboxer, having won the third World Warrior Tournament and defeating Gill, a supposedly godlike being, in single combat. He has incredible physical strength, resilience, and dexterity.
- Also, he fixes motorcycles, loves pizza, and does carpentry on the weekend.
Well, I only have a passing familiarity with Street Fighter, but my friend knows it like the back of his hand and he said it all checks out here. Nothing seems like it needs to be changed to me.
Alex is accepted.
You'll want to check out the first post of the main thread to see how Alex should arrive, and the first post of the discussion thread to find a number of useful reference materials, including the rules to the current day. You should probably recap at least the last few pages of the RP, or if you're feeling up to it recap from the start of the current day. (There's a link in the first post of the discussion.)

You are reading this.Asking before I started working on the full sign-up, but if I were going to be interested in playing Cole, from Dragon Age Inquisition, and specifically after he is made more human, would he be all right?
I couldn't quite decide what would be the most "default" worldstate for him if one assumes he has gone through the entirety of the main Inquisition game, but I prefer the more human Cole, and his character is fairly distinct depending on which of the three options you follow (more human, more spirit, or not choosing either).
The game looks really fun so I thought I'd clear that out before I applied
@Cole Minor: I'm not really familiar with Dragon Age Inquisition other than I know it exists and a vague synopsis of it. I'd have to look into it a bit, but that sounds like it should be acceptable.
@Deadbeatloser22: "Recent"?
I kid, I kid. You're more than welcome to sign up if you want.
You are reading this.

Only if you want to talk directly and extremely technically. According to a skim through his tropes he can obliterate 100 foot tall demons in one punch, level mountains in one punch, and split open the sky in one punch.
In order to survive that, something would need to be at about Gurren Lagann levels of absurdity, and if they were I would force them to be nerfed too, which would bring Saitama back to square one.
The point is that in practical terms, other characters (besides those not good at fighting) should actually have a chance to defeat him in a one on one fight if it comes down to it. And as he is now, they just wouldn't. At all. Ben could go Four Arms and just constantly punch Saitama over and over until he got forced back into being human, and it probably would barely even hurt. And at any point during the assault Saitama could throw one punch back at Four Arms and either kill him instantly or knock him out cold. That's just far too powerful to be fair to any of the other players.
Anyway, as for the limits you suggest the speed is okay, and the idea of him being able to withstand hits equal to his own is okay, but the strength of the hits you suggest is still too high. (And by extension the strength of hits that he could withstand.) I'm pretty sure none of the other player characters could even come close to destroying a large building in one hit unless they hit a vital structural component and waited for it to collapse. The upper limit that I think would be okay would be more along the lines of destroying a decent car in one punch.
