I'm really late to posting this, but how was episode 2 to everyone? For me it was way weaker than the premiere, but still good. Many fans have compared the Super Detergent with Osomatsu-kun, specifically the late run. With the sextuplets chasing Iyami with dust and also how it ends with no true ending and bizarre (lack of) conclusion, I could definitely see this. Plus the no-true-reason rivalry between Iyami and the kids of Akatsuka Ward, and that one kid pulling a Makoto-chan
on him a couple times.
Plus there's how it makes fun of fans' (and marketers') characterizations of the sextuplets and Osomatsu having "no qualities".
Todomatsu's stream in segment 1 was very season one in tone, I think.
It was a bit of a weaker episode, but still admirable for reasons..
Reindeer in the direction of reindeerYeah, episode 2 was pretty fun, I really liked it :D
As for episode 3... it felt weaker than episode 2, the Choro and Ichi part in particular seemed to drag on for way too long and take too long to get to the point, while I'm not against more "serious" episodes and think they can be pretty good this one just didn't quite do it for me. But from episode 2, the series still seems to have a lot of promise :3

My favorite failed console tbhYeah, I feel like there was something lost on me in that last segment - is Shouei supposed to be a parody of some or other Japanese celebrity or a common type of show host or something?
The Choro and Ichi... I do appreciate how they're trying to bring some more personality into the characters so that's good, though I feel like it could have been a bit shorter in places.
EDIT: rewatched it and for some reason I could appreciate it more the second time? Didn't feel the same "drags on for too long" time time around. Also I can relate to that "awkward silence" in one-on-one conversations as opposed to, say, group chats...

My favorite failed console tbh![]()
I like the Dekapan and Dayon segments...I like them as characters and I always found them to have a cute relationship with each other, and I like how this latest series has been making them interact. Their silent (well sorta) segments always entertained me, especially as a fan of Dayon's newfound gag of bullhorn yelling and being mysterious.
Also, Shoei is a real life Japanese actor
who guest starred for the episode. That said, episode 3 was super weak. The Choromatsu and Ichimatsu segment dragged on for way too long, and the Shoei segment isn't funny, although that could be due to lack of context for western audiences?
The Cavematsu segment was pretty enjoyable to me, but that's probably since I tend to enjoy animated cavemen (and I'm pretty immature, so of course I giggled at the subject matter...) but it'll probably be a recurring segment too, I can smell it.
Anyway, let's hope today's episode is way better. I particularly hope so, because I love the matsu parents, and it's great they're finally getting their own episode. Let's just hope the staff isn't playing it up and it'll just be mostly about the sextuplets, which was how the Shoei segment was for most people expecting a focal segment on Totoko due to the title.
Reindeer in the direction of reindeerEpisode came out. Looks like
is right and Cavematsu will be the recurring A Uverse short this season.
Anyway, this is probably the best episode in S2 so far. Matsuzou turns out to be more adorkable than I thought, especially since he didn't do anything in S1. I particularly like how he openly shits on his sons and laughs right on their face. I also like how the sons try to help their father, despite most of them ending as Epic Fail. Also nice continuation of Choro and Ichi being awkward around each other.
Too bad we didn't get much Matsuyo, but Matsuzou needs the screentime more, anyway.
The episode was so cute! It was both funny and heartwarming, and I love how Matsuzo developed as a character. The virgin training was hilarious!
Did anyone else think Dayon was super cute when he claimed not to drink the love potion when he obviously did? Speaking of, can we assume he and Dekapan live in the same house/lab now? Unless that was the case in S1 as well and I just wasn't paying attention...I mean, they are "best friends" after all.
Also speaking of, what did we all think of that Hatabou x Chibita moment? Many people who are big fans of the 1988 series where they had more interaction were waiting for them to have some moments in the new series, and I think that did it.....

Reindeer in the direction of reindeerFifth episode aired yesterday. Thoughts?
It was the first sketch comedy sort of episode this season and I hope it isn't the last, because these types of episodes always seem to hit. I got 1988 series vibes from Iyami and Chibita's "it's hot" bit, since it revolves around them, plus going to Dekapan's lab to get help. It seems Dayon saying "I didn't do it" will be a recurring gag of his, and if it is, I'll be so happy since I thought it was adorable the past couple of times.
Another cute moment was Dekapan and Dayon's fireworks. Shonosuke was really fascinated and was the only one to stay, aww!
The most notable thing about the episode that many fans noticed and pointed out was the obvious callback to the 1988 series' ending sequence, Osomatsu Ondo.
The sextuplets line up in sheeh poses and then exit stage right in an identical fashion to in this ending, plus a few characters do the dance from the "Dayon, Dayon, sonna mon Dayon" bit, and they sample the main melody from the song a bit too!
What did we all think of episode 6?
I thought it was a pretty good one! For the first segment, it was very reminiscent of the 1988 series. It's the first time I can remember for the current series where Iyami is simultaneously shown as both a Woobie and a Jerkass, just like he used to be. The idea of him having a trained dog that tells him whether or not junk is safe to eat makes sense for him, especially since in past series he's shown to eat out of trash cans and swallow disposed medicine without thinking twice. Plus, this segment had some fun Easter eggs too. On the disposed cat food/fish cans, you can see Unagi Inu's tail, as well as Kemunpasu and Nyarome. Also that Osomatsu seems to have magazines at least a decade old, given Akatsuka is on the cover (who became mounted to his hospital bed in '02 and died in '08), and it can be assumed he is interviewed in his contents. I chuckled at him saying "koredeiikamo!" instead of "koredeiinoda!" showing uncertainty.
For segment 2, it was really cute! It reminded me of Hitman Jo Hatabou a bit. I could relate to Hatabou in the "I claim to have no friends, yet I do and just forget that and need reassurance" sense that he seemed to have. Did anyone else think Dayon looked larger than usual in this segment? Also, it fixed an issue I had with season 1: not enough side character interaction with the sextuplets.
All in all, very solid episode this week.

Reindeer in the direction of reindeerGuess I'll dump my few views on episode 7.
So, is it safe to assume this'll be the last Cavematsu segment since they died and got fossilized? But then again, gag series let things happen without consequence, so.
I really liked the outfits in the Three Kingdoms segment, and the violence/gross-out really surprised me. Let me just say that since Japanese audiences got a bit sick at the transparency in Super Detergent, even to the point of advance warnings about a brutal gag you won't want to watch while eating, I imagine that was very hard to stomach. I loved Jyushimatsu shouting about loving peaches!
But we all know the main feature was the last segment. I loved to see Osomatsu portrayed with more character and as "more interesting". His personality that people seem to look past really shone through. I liked the trippy segments when Osomatsu was thinking to himself about mixers being torture for virgins. And of course, despite only getting mentioned, Atsushi is getting attention again. I still don't understand his popularity; we know virtually nothing about him. But word of mouth is he's supposed to appear again this season, so maybe we'll learn stuff we don't know? Also there were the implications of Dekapan and Dayon being on a date, as shown by the scene in the bathroom. I really like when Osomatsu's personality is shown very strongly!
All in all, solid episode this week and I'm looking really forward to the next.

Reindeer in the direction of reindeerEh, Three Kingdoms was alright. Went a bit too long IMO. And I think they kind of overused nudity and poop jokes already.
The last segment was great, though. Oso's inner dialogue was great, as is Totty's epic fail attempts to cover up for Oso. Although, really makes you wonder why he thinks rubbing scallops on your butt is a better idea than saying pervy stuff.
...I felt bad for Oso at the ending, though. He thought he made some new friends, but was shot down so coldly. Like, damn.
One of the sketch in this week's episode sees Jyushimatsu training to become a dolphin . . . oh shit, the writers are aware of the Jo Jo memes relating to Jotaro and dolphins!
Of all things they could parody, I didn't expect Shin Megami Tensei. I think it's a bit too long, but I did enjoy the increasingly grotesque fusions. I wonder if they're references to actual Megaten demons.
Then the next segment, I did not expect Jyushi's girlfriend to return at all. Although since the Girlymatsus are dolphin trainers instead of office ladies, and none of the other brothers appear, the dolphin segment might be an AU. That last song cracked me up.
The "Oso is shitty brother" segment is funny, especially when he nonchalantly tries to pawn his brothers' stuff. The "Ichi can't sleep" segment is too drawn out and didn't do much funny thing, though. I chuckled at Shoei cougar, but otherwise it was too repetitive.
Iyami...is the skit a reference to something else? Totoko's is unexpectedly good. I would like to do that to people who take too many photos, too
Sorry for lazing around regarding my usual episode reviews. I did in fact watch both on their release, just didn't type up reviews as usual. So this'll be a double review!
Episode 8:
Dayon's segment was super adorable and funny! Iyamatsu was so cute he made my heart melt! I loved Chibibou too, and how the Pythagoras trio turned into some sort of Takashi Murakami-like creature akin to the Dobtopus. I like how they've been trying to give Dayon a personality of being a troublemaker in the new season. It's really interesting to see canon fusions and it brought about the creativity of the artists. Also, I joked that the end of a segment brought about a cameo by the poop from Dr Slump.
Now, for Jyushimatsu's segment. Many people were disappointed that the character design known as his girlfriend didn't reprise the role. Fans were confused that the two of them didn't seem to recognize each other, but those are just the people new to Showa era tropes, notably the Star System that many mangaka of the era had, including Fujio Akatsuka. As for the content itself, it was okay, but not a favorite. It seemed to take itself seriously, not even in a tongue-in-cheek way. It felt like some sort of bizarre Otherkin aesop. What I'm trying to say is, it played itself very seriously and emotionally for a plot so bizarre. However, Jyushimatsu is my favorite sextuplet, and the scenes of him swimming like a dolphin surely pleased. So did the cute little song.
Totoko and Nyaa-chan's segment was too short and filler to form an opinion.
Now, episode 9:
I did not like the first segment at all. It felt like a rehashed version of a Choromatsu skit from season 1's tidbit collection, only much longer and far less funny. The Choromatsu one worked because of its timing and length. This one dragged on and on, and didn't give me a single chuckle. I guess I might be biased since I'm not a fan of Ichimatsu, and maybe if you like him, you liked the segment. This is the first time this season I've dreaded sitting through a segment. I got bored, but sat through anyway.
Iyami's segment, I liked. This season has been bringing back the idea that part of Iyami's character is based on the way he interacts with children. Having him interact with child extras really allows him to have that characteristic again despite the sextuplets and Chibita being adults now. It was really cute when the children wanted Iyami to adopt him for his skills. Chibita and Hatabou taking on a random role was very akin to the 1988 series, which of course I loved. The animation during the scene with Iyami and the impossible claw machine was very pleasing and interesting to look at.
As for Totoko and Nyaa's skit this time around, I enjoyed it much more. I liked to see their interactions, but once again, since it was very short, I don't have much of an opinion.
Reindeer in the direction of reindeerAlright, now for episode 10!
I don't get why so many people loved the "Karamatsu and Brothers" segment too much. Probably just because Karamatsu cries, and he interacts with Choromatsu? The plot is kind of overdone and not much was really added. It's definitely one of those "aren't they cute, buy the merch" kinds of episodes. I liked Choromatsu's impressions of his brothers a lot, and Osomatsu's "I'm the Osomatsu!" line. That aside, it was just a service episode for those who only watch the show for the sextuplets doing cute things. Kinda boring, but enough entertaining face gags, so not as painfully boring (no pun intended) as Ichimatsu's campaigns.
"New Employee Totoko" was...okay. It seemed like it was trying to be Showa but didn't quite pull it off. Yes, Showa gags are repetitive, but not that much so. I did like Totoko's voice acting in this segment, though, that is showed her oblivion.
But Dubbingmatsusan? That segment saved this episode. The concept was great and it was so chock full of Fridge Brilliance. The concept of the sextuplets being actors of the sextuplets? Fantastic.
For one, Todomatsu's disguise included a giant Shonosuke mascot head. Seems like any old bizarre gag of the show, yeah? And wouldn't wearing a giant costume head gather attention? Nope, it's a Shonosuke head. And Shonosuke has many siblings, so it could pass off as "Oh, it's one of the ~nosukes. Nothing to see there." Brilliant.
Plus, when you see the matsus get their paycheck, the money looks normal, not like their Akatsuka money. Why? Akatsuka money is only In-Universe, and this segment takes place in Real Life. Amazing!
Reindeer in the direction of reindeer

Just watched it and oh man, that sure was one hell of a start x3 Gotta love meta-jokes and how it's clearly not taking itself too seriously, also appreciated the callback to the (original) Episode 1 of the first season, starting in the same way with the original 60's Osomatsu-kun versions talking about how they're getting a new anime.
Also the second part where everyone was a different genre and drawn in different styles just reminded me of all those parodies in EP 1 of the original x3 that 3D Jyushimatsu and live-action Totty xD
Been looking forwards to Osomatsu starting again, the first ep is already very promising and I can't wait for the rest of the show x3
