Yeah everything about Ein was part of Mc Gillis' plan. Ein was also the prototype to allow Mc Gillis to pilot Bael.

He deliberately kept the processes and his intentions from Gaelio to get his permission.

McGillis wants the universe to be run according to personal military strength.
I don't think you can confidently state that as a fact. We know that he wants people to be judged on their own merit. He may be off his rocker enough to believe "good at fighting = good at everything", but I don't think that's likely. He has a healthy respect for people like Kudelia, whose strength is in political rhetoric and inspiring the masses rather than force of arms. He never derides people like Rustal for leading from the rear rather than commanding battles from the cockpit of a mobile suit. The only time we hear him extolling the virtues of personal combat prowess over all else is when he's in the middle of a mobile suit duel, where "who's the better fighter?" is kind of a salient question to the immediate situation.

McGillis wants the universe to be run according to personal military strength. That's not a stance that is particularly compatible with peace, and he seems to have little but contempt for how peace has softened and decayed the solar system since the glory days of the Calamity War.
He doesn't have contempt for the Seven Stars for "going soft" in the absence of war, he has contempt for them because they're corrupt assholes who have allowed progress to stagnate by maintaining power at all costs, even if that means letting the bulk of humanity live in crushing poverty. His complaint isn't "these people can't fight! Fuck them, they're weaklings!", it's "these people are abusing the rest of humanity! Fuck them, they're assholes!".

I call him fascist because fascism is very specifically an ideology of violence, the anti-utopian belief that humanity only becomes stronger and more beautiful through conflict.
I don't think that describes McGillis at all. He never talks about how he wants there to be more war because people will be better off that way. He talks about the Seven Stars being systemically corrupt and needing to go, in favor of people who have actually earned their positions. When the mobile armor reactivates, for example, his reaction isn't "Excellent! A worthy foe to test myself against!", it's "oh shit, we've gotta stop this thing before it kills innocent people".

As for what else he could have done to help people, he's a fleet commander and a member of the Seven Stars by the second season. There is very little he can't do.
On the contrary, the Seven Stars seem to have very strictly delineated areas of authority. The Fareeds are in charge of security on Earth itself, which is prestigious but doesn't come with much power once you're off-planet. Similarly, the Issues are in charge of security in Earth orbit. The Elions (Rustal's family) are in charge of space outside of the Earth sphere — which is a less respected position, but offers far more actual power in terms of men, materiel, and influence he can bring to bear.

All it would take is a scene where he's opening an orphanage or using his power over Earth's trade routes to crack down on sex traffickers.
Like that time he intervened personally to end a brushfire war between economic blocs on Earth? I agree that it would have been nice to see him instituting more reforms within his area of authority, but to be honest we don't see much in the way of his day-to-day activities as head of the Fareed family in general. But given that before he took over as the head of family from his father, his job within Gjallarhorn was to investigate and crack down on corruption within the ranks, it seems reasonable to believe that he would implement similar reforms within his own family after assuming command. The fact that we don't see this explicitly is a weakness in the show's writing, but I don't think it's an indication that McGillis is actually a hypocrite who doesn't back up his talk with action.

Deploying the Graze Ein was also key to his plan to discredit Iznario - it wouldn't have worked without a mobile suit battle frying Edmonton's electronics and wrecking its infrastructure, which is a big part of why he isolates and kills Gaelio to keep Ein going on his mad rampage after Kudelia.
The fact that Gaelio deployed an A-V equipped cyborg abomination (to the Seven Stars' eyes, anyway) was likely bad enough. The fact that it also went insane and brought an ahab reactor into a populated area was just icing on the cake. Still, McGillis at worse enabled it, he certainly didn't force Gaelio to accept the offer or force Ein to turn into a revenge-obsessed lunatic.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

[up]He tricked Gaelio into allowing it, and he did turn Ein into a lunatic.

Also

His complaint isn't "these people can't fight! Fuck them, they're weaklings!", it's "these people are abusing the rest of humanity! Fuck them, they're assholes!".
Actually it is. He states the seven stars are weak and ineffective.

I don't think that describes Mc Gillis at all. He never talks about how he wants there to be more war because people will be better off that way. He talks about the Seven Stars being systemically corrupt and needing to go, in favor of people who have actually earned their positions.
He actually does not talk about the Seven Stars much at all other than to say they are in the way. And he does imply he wants more conflict, because he says those with power should be able to do as they please, and he believes violent conflict is the best expression of it.

Been seeing on the Gundam Reddit with IBO-based mobile suit art from the game tie-in.

I wonder how many times this thread has misformatted the names McGillis and McMurdo.

Also, how does the trope page for this show not have Iok listed under Hate Sink, Love to Hate and/or Memetic Loser? Let alone his nickname as "Local Man".

I hope to this day Iznario gets what he deserves instead of living a comfortable life.

Ride deserves a better life than the one he chose out of guilt though.

Ride gunning down Nobliss isn’t gonna be good for his prospects but man is it cathartic.

Man now I wanna rewatch IBO. Easily in my top three Gundam shows.

[up][up] Guess we might have to wait for Super Robot Wars DD to work its magic for Iznario and Rustal to get theirs. XD

I assume that in any SRW game, Rustal and Julietta will be recruitable. In fact, it honestly might be more difficult to get McGillis on-side, considering what a toxic, self-destructive mess he is.

What's precedent ever done for us?

[up]Well seeing that they made McGillis one of the playable characters for the DLC of Super Robot Wars 30 I get the feeling that isn't going to be a problem for the SRW team. Especially knowing their history when it comes to secret units from Gundam.

I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.

Oh, it'd surely happen, but I can see the in-game requirements being quite challenging. Rustal feels like he'd be either very easy or a freebie - just show him a standard SRW multiversal threat, and he's happily throw the weight of the Arianrhod Fleet behind your cause. He's ruthless, but clever, far-sighted, and sincerely invested in the survival of his civilisation.

Man With A Mission, who did some of the OPs in Iron-Blooded Orphans, put an MV of it on YouTube a week ago.
