Sarah had kept low and quiet while the scene unfolded. If she'd stood up from her location the elf'd stick out like a sore thumb, followed up by getting chased down by guards. Not quite what you'd want. Still, those two that took the liberty of standing up for this ragtag of misfits seemed to have done a good job, considering the guards were falling back... The blonde got up from her crawling position and made her way down the building. It'd be a bad idea to stick around, unfortunately... Damn it, she just had to play hero. The chaos left behind by those others might be an advantage to slip in through the crowds...
"Well, Suit yourself..." With that, Sarah started making her way to the outskirts of town. She'll regroup with Adelaide later when both of them are safe.

Calcol nodded to the sergeant's statement, but was honestly surprised. He figured that whatever deadly situation his odd group was in, the grim look on the guard's faces suggested that theirs would be more deadly. He understood the favor the archer had just done for them, though...
"Why don't you come with us?" He asked. "We could get away from this realm of the Dark Lord, and the more men in our party the safer we'd be."
Hearing the words of the sergeant, the expression on the elven woman softened but a little bit as did the grip on her spear as she held it a bit more carefree. She merely nodded her head at the man in acknowledgement... though she did smile as she thought that a brave youth had not died because of her bold actions. However... how to proceed now.
She turned her head to the tower where the Governor had disappeared... she needed to know more if she was to take action. There was much she didn't know...
And that meant, there was much knowledge to find here, one way or the other "What will you all do now?" she asks of those, strangely familiar people with whom she had shared battle.
"Oh..." Ruve muttered when she hears out the sergeant, then she relaxed her shoulders, approached him and gave him a pat on his shoulder and said "Your welcome, it's just comes naturally to us, even though we never knew each other. Weird, I know, but we were the leaves in the wind of fate and it worked out so far so...eh. Good advice, though, we'll be taking our leave."
When Leilernale asked of their next course of action, she answered "Simple, we get out of this town and set up a camp in the forest and figure out what are we going to do next there. And...err...orc...guy, sorry, didn't really get your name, but I don't think the man would leave his family behind, much less putting them at risk when his superior finds out that he's working with us."

http://www.last.fm/user/sgtpendulum Yo, check out what I'm listening, it'll be heat, brah :^)Adelaide was rather conflicted. She wanted to stay and help the obviously downtrodden citizens of Lovak, but she knew she couldn't do it alone, and the others seemed to be leaving town anyway. So, with a heavy heart, Adelaide made her way to the outside of the town, looking for Huntress.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertAsh stood up without a word and leaning on her staff. Eventually she smiled and laughed. " I could have sworn we were dead. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm going to pick a direction and walk it till I hit the edge of town. I'll figure out everything else once I'm nice and far from that tower."

~Hey Yew! Don't tell me there's no hope at aaaaallllllll!~Lowing his blade and looking to Ash with a nod. "Just heading to the edge of town is an option. I know very little of this area but moving away from that tower seems like it's for the best."
Michael looks at the sergeant with a look of both minor disdain but also of minor respect and acknowledgement. Sliding the blade he took from the guard across the ground towards the sergeant and leaving with some of the others.

"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began.""Ah, hold on a minute." Ezekiel called out to the faces he could swear he knew from somewhere. A few had already left, but he wished to speak to those who were still present before finding the others. "Perhaps we should move as one? There is safety in numbers, and we all seem to be like minded folk, or so I would believe." He said with a smile. "We have made enemies it would seem, so why should we deem to fight them alone?"
"I am nature's weapon. You are unfit to carry on your species, and I shall ensure that you do not do so!" - Charles Darwin, XCOM SniperSo it was that the strangers left the plaza, leaving blood drying dark and tacky on wood and stone. The sergeant and his men watched them go, working together to collect and pile together the bodies; but by the time the strangers reached the edge of the plaza and started down the deserted main street, the ragged men in darkened armor had already forgotten them, turning back to their grim task. Heroes were rare in Lovak, but corpses were not.
The fading light of afternoon found the strangers outside the high stone walls of the city, a short walk southwest of the Paupers' Gate. There was a small grassy hollow in the field, ringed by a thin copse of trees; the ones who had left earlier were somewhat surprised to find their erstwhile allies arriving at the same clearing. Calcol, Ciel and Leil bore hastily wrapped satchels in their arms or slung over their shoulders; several thin women had bumped into the strangers on their way out of Lovak, hastily shoving bundles into their arms and hurrying away. The bundles turned out to be supplies, water and food for several days, wrapped up in thick, serviceable tarpaulins good enough for makeshift tents. There was even some battered cookware.
The setting sun painted the city gold, but the Dark Tower remained, swallowing all the light that touched it. The strangers, too, felt themselves drawn to it somehow. As it dominated even the distant mountains to the north and south, it always remained just on the edge of thought... a looming shadow.
It's been fun.Sarah let out quite a heavy sigh of relief in having been able to successfully escape the city walls. Quite the fright, considering all those guards running amok... She hadn't actually heard what the conversation was about earlier, so the knowledge of being temporarily safe didn't reach the elf's ears. No sooner had the archer caught a breath of air than Adelaide following soon after, seemingly having followed Sarah out...
"Ah... Hey, good to see you safe." she greeted. There was actually genuine relief in her voice, considering Sarah was planning to wait on the somewhat younger girl, if she'd manage to come out of it safely. She continued in a soft tone: "You actually gave me quite a scare when I saw you rushing in whilst I got settled on that rooftop. It's good to see you can hold your own, but-" The blonde couldn't finish her sentence before noticing other shadows rushing out the gate. For a second they clutched their bow, ready to aim and fire, though relaxed after getting a better look in. It seemed to be the band of misfits from earlier... Actually... Now that Sarah is able to get a better look in, something feels oddly familiar about this gang. Like... Old friends? She couldn't quite shake the feeling...
Taking a deep breath, the young elf decided to approach after binding her weapon on her back. Surely they mustn't have been too happy with her fleeing immediately... "So, you all made it out safe too, huh?" Huntress broke the ice.
"Same to you," Adelaide said. She blushed slightly out of embarrassment when the other girl admonished her, but when Sarah went over to the others, Adelaide followed. She stayed silent for now, thinking there wasn't anything for her to say at the moment.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor Hebert"Nobody followed us out, at least that I could perceive... and the goodness of people, even in a dangerous land, remains untarnished" she says with a smile as she lifts her satchel a little bit, revealing the supplies people had painstakingly given to the party that had saved the poor souls from execution.
"Some manner of fate must be pulling us together... for I feel a certain kindred towards you all... though that may just be recognizing the spirit of justice that seems to be missing among these parts" says Leil as she sits down on the clearing.
Michael if only by accident ends up walking up of the city into the clearing looking around at the others that were currently there. His jade green eyes no longer filled with a strong passion, now a softer and more quieted look.
He dropped to the ground; leaning back quickly. Michael watches the sunset, while idly listening to the others for a few moments. These people did feel oddly similar now he considered but why couldn't he work out why? Though he already had to ask such questions simply on how he arrived here?
Looking down at his chest and moving some of the vestments cloth to the side, he looked at that Amulet he feels so fond of. Considering why he had this again. He hadn't seen it in so long. He couldn't even fully remember its name though he could feel a power in it.
"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."Throughout all of that talking between the warriors, Ruve sat by a bundle of twigs and cones, tried all she might to start a campfire by a classic technique of rolling a stick quickly onto a branch but, while she did touch the branch a couple of times and it indeed was hot from the rubbing, it was to no avail. That does not mean that she did not listened closely to what they say, there was nothing else to think about anyway, not even home, which is strange considering a common saying a warrior's first thought was home. Obviously, she's no warrior but it still should have applied to her, all she could think about was who are this guys and the itchy thought of erasing that ugly tower from the horizon somehow.
"Say, guys," she finally called out after her forearms grew tired. "Where do you all come from, anyway? Also, could anyone help me with the fire?"
http://www.last.fm/user/sgtpendulum Yo, check out what I'm listening, it'll be heat, brah :^)Michael looked over towards Ruve and got up, moving towards the makeshift fire and kneeling down over it. "Personally I am.. Or should be the personal guard for the Priestess of Karmurza, a fire god. All my life I grew up in that temple or by her side." He says in a musing and slightly affectionate tone.
Reaching over and taking the sticks and starting to rub them, blowing air to help ignite the embers from time to time. "Though i'm not sure how I got here, wherever we are. I just woke up in some ruin in the town." Michael's tone slowing and becoming my thoughtful.
Quickly snapping out of it looking at Ruve. "Where would you be from, miss?" Giving a polite smile as he asked for her name. Still trying to start the fire, though making clear progress.
"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."The setting sun was quite the sight to see from Calcol's vantage point. The farming communities of the valley looked almost pleasant in the oranges and reds they had taken on, and though the Dark Tower stood against the palette the rest of the mountain range made Calcol feel a tinge of nostalgia on the inside.
He turned back to the assembled group. In answer to Ciel's question, he interrupted with "My name is Calcol. I was just traveling before I got wound up in this."
Adelaide spoke up from the back of the group. "My name is Adelaide Basurto. I was traveling in search of wrongs to right and criminals to bring to justice when I woke up in a field nearby with all my possessions gone, save my armor." She frowned. "Come to think of it, why wasn't my armor taken?"
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor Hebert"Ash. That's ash like the tree, not ash like a dead fire. Speaking of which that fire will appear much faster with some birch. It would appear even faster if we used a bow but I don't think we have any we can afford to lose."
When she finished speaking she started looking for any good kindling. She knew of nothing worth speaking about and knew no questions she asked would be answered by the people she had become entangled with.

~Hey Yew! Don't tell me there's no hope at aaaaallllllll!~"Leil is my name... or at least, enough of it to be convenient" says the elven spearwielder "Of the Silverpine Forests... elven vanguard and knight of the Old Gods, the Old Ways and the power of the Light. Likewise, I seem to have been whisked away to this land from my usual haunts... though seeing the evil afoot, I must be glad at whatever brought me around"
Huntress sat down with the rest of the group and closed her eyes while listening to the others' stories. It seemed none were willing to share too much... Though that was understandable. Sarah was much the same way... Old wounds she felt weren't ready to open up yet. Opening her eyes for the introduction, Sarah put on a smile. "So, Huntress is what most people know me by. I guess I'll be travelling with you guys, though..." She stretched out and let herself fall backwards, right onto the ground where there was a good view of the sky. "My real name is Sarah Damine. Nice to meet you all..."
The archer felt a soft breeze against her cheek, feeling the comforting cold of the wind. It was pleasant. "I amount to not much more than a mercenary lately, though... I'm kinda travelling the world to see everything. I'm still not quite sure why I came here..."

Using some of the kindling that was being gathered Michael continued to work on the fire, it was starting to burn lightly. "I suppose I never properly introduced myself, I am Michael." He says in a polite tone as he blows upon the fire.
"So what do we do from here then, other than prepare some food? Most of us arriving here with no knowledge or equipment seems suspicious." He says inquisitively with a light smile as he prepares the fire to be used for cooking.
"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."

The sergeant looked between the strangers as they spoke up, his countenance tight. "I'll make this simple, and I'll make this quick," he said. "I don't know who you all are, and I don't care. But I will tell you this - my name is Gand Smith, and that boy you saved is my son. That's all you need to know." He turned back to his men. "Stand aside. The first man to raise a blade to them faces me." He slowly sheathed his sword and stepped aside.
"Strangers... where you go from here, I can't say, but you should leave Lovak as soon as you can," he said. "The next time we meet will be the last, one way or the other, and I don't want to see my boy's saviors up on those posts." He nodded at the slumped corpse still tied to the dais. "We'll be taking Corporal Armsman down. Take care that you're not still here when we finish."
It's been fun.
