Am I the only one that thinks this trope has suffered significant decay as of late? There are shows (I'm not gonna point fingers) where, after a certain point, literally every other episode or chapter is being listed underneath Wham Episode: it kind of makes the whole concept meaningless when every single minor twist and awesome deed is considered shocking enough to qualify here.

I mean, don't you think they'd have to be rated as such within the context of the series, not outside of it? Wouldn't the watcher or reader of such a work have already gotten used to that hammer whamming at his skull, and not really consider it unless it aims a really heavy blow? If a show has many events that would count as Wham Episodes anywhere else, then that show's just pretty whammy in general and there's really no point listing most examples, only the particularly significant ones. A great deal of weeding would be required, lest we risk defeating the whole point of the trope.

~Potman, please provide a Wick Check or other substantial evidence before making threads on large tropes like this one.

Further, we have a large backlog and until it resolves we cannot have more TRS topics.
