I have a hard time believing that a woman who has fought against "gods" and Kryptonians has problems with a woman with cat powers.

It's actually powers gifted or cursed from a God.

They actually lampshaded that in a Secret Six comic thinking a woman with cat powers wouldn't be hard to take down till one of the Six basically states "She's trades blows with WONDER WOMAN and is able to WALK AWAY, I don't think she's a pushover!"

Personally, I think Zeus would make for a better WW villain.

I mean, Ares was a good villian thematly.

With cheetah, I cant stop seen her as just power up version of catwoman....which it bring me of this idea of bruce and diana having a comon past of battling cat theme chararters.

Also I remember seeing weird shit like an actual cheetah with a woman's face for Cheetah.

Cheetah being Wonder Woman's arch-nemesis is weird to me.

I keep trying to think of what the symbolic contrast is there - Superman is a Physical God who fights for truth and Lex is a man who uses his intellect to his own gain. Batman is a secretive vigilante with Training from Hell and a taciturn exterior, and Joker is a wild, eccentric criminal who treats everything like a game.

Wonder Woman is a warrior blessed by the gods. Cheetah is someone cursed by a god?

Ares being the god of war and conflict at least stands opposite to what Diana fights for - love and empathy, I guess?

Zeus being a patriarchal god-king and Diana's father... I guess if you look at it as Wonder Woman being from a matriarchal society then it kind of fits.

Cheetah never seemed like a thematically fitting archenemy. And, yet, I like it better than Ares or Zeus - those don't feel right, too "big" in scope. Superman faces a man. Batman faces a criminal. Wonder Woman faces a an actual god.

I say that but DC Universe Online convinced me that Circe was Diana's best-fitting nemesis.

Zeus being "too big in scope" doesn't really disqualify him from being an arch nemesis given that could describe some arch enemies like Darkseid for Orion, Doom for the Fantastic Four and Magneto for the X-Men.

Also, Circe is a goddess herself.

Batman does have Ra's Al Ghul, so there should be a place for a bigger villain somewhere on WW's gallery.

Cheetah really lacks the grandeur to be the archnemesis of Diana and really feels more like a case of Grandfather Clause than anything else. Circe being a manipulative sorceress whose mythological counterpart having a rich history of interpretations as a temptress, a witch, an archetypal predatory woman used to criticise female sexuality and even as a feminist symbol, has more thematic contrast to Diana.

I wonder, will Barbara be gay like her Rebirth incarnation?

[up][up] It should be noted that the We Used to Be Friends bit came much later in Cheetah's history. Originally, that role was filled by the Vanessa Kapatelis incarnation of Silver Swan.

However, there is one take on Cheetah that would have been interesting to put on screen - the evil Lara Croft. See, Barbara Minerva was originally a deconstruction of the adventure archaeologist. Instead of being a charming and roguish adventurer, she was a liar, murderer and thief who had no respect for foreign cultures and only cared about adding their treasures to her collection. She was essentially a critique of imperialism and xenophobia and Diana's first meeting with her is what opens the Amazons' eyes to the fact that women can be just as cruel as men.

That could be interesting.

Also, do you think we will see those other amazon that exist in egypt?...what were their name again?.

[up][up][up]Honestly you could even borrow from Modern Lara for that interpretation of Cheetah considering how ruthless she could be. Lara was flat out hanging corpses from trees in the third game.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?

[up]Even before the reboot Lara was pretty much a hitwoman masquerading as an archaeologist. The reboot was simply interrogating that instead of ignoring it.

Yeah, with Lara Croft they realized that the action and gunplay elements took on a whole different meaning when the graphics became more realistic. The 10th Anniversary remake made some changes involving Lara showing some remorse for shooting a tiger or killing a person.

[up][up][up][up]Yeah those one, I feel like a intersting element that could play, plus allowing people of color as amazons for a diferent background.

they could also tailor to black adam.....

Okey, why the guy is call black adam?.

He's not black. The name refers to the color of his suit.
