Problem is his recent portrayals haven't really been all that different from one another. In the comics in particular he's devolved into a one-note "edgy" villain.
Regardless, I haven't really read many WW comics, but I'd bet there's a good chance Ares would be involved in this movie because why wouldn't he be involved in one of the biggest conflicts in human history?
He's also never been in a live-action film before.

I was actually thinking how interesting it might be to see Heracles or Theseus as villains in this or future films.
Also, Mayling Ng confirmed as Orana in Wonder Woman

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureAres (it's World War I
) and Hippolayta are virtual guarantees. However, the former is such an obvious deduction that it's also likely that he doesn't turn out to be the Big Bad. Cheetah is also a likely candidate, although they would have to tweak her comic origins to fit the World War I setting.
I wonder what locations of WWI they're going to visit. The Amazons' historical Mediterranean origins, not to mention Gal Gadot's Israeli background, make the Arab Revolt and Gallipoli campaigns likely settings. Wonder Woman could journey northwards towards Western Europe as the film progresses, and the finale could take place during the last grand offensives of 1918.
I still think that Circe will be involved as well (perhaps played by Elena Anaya). I think that it's more likely that Cheetah will be a "present-day" threat (for a potential sequel). Especially if she's a archeologist in this version as well.
It'd be kind of cool if we saw Baroness Paula von Gunther as some kind of corrupt German aristocrat (she doesn't HAVE to be a Nazi in order to work I think).

You dont think Ares (as in THE arch enemy of Wonder Woman) will be the Big Bad of this film?
It's more that New 52, at least in art design, seemed to be designed to be easier to adapt to movies. The costumes specifically seemed to have a cinematic eye to it, mostly in having apparent segmented armor. It's likely Superman's lack of red trunks was decided at the same time as the Man of Steel version. I think it is also the first time a long-term comics Batman costume (not including AU or temporary designs) didn't have the trunks. Plus there was Cyborg being a Leaguer instead of Martian Manhunter.
The Suicide Squad, just from the trailers, is literally just the new 52 Suicide Squad (note: Not New Suicide Squad, that's a different thing entirely). The only difference is this version replaced the cannibalistic King Shark with the cannibalistic Killer Croc, most likely because David Ayer didn't want a CG team member.
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Captain Boomerang is a long-term member, Enchantress and Rick Flagg are old-school characters, Killer Croc has never been on the squad (and he was depicted as cannibalistic pre-New 52 as well) as far as I'm aware, and Waller and Deadshot are the two "mainstays" of the team. Really Harley and Joker are the only real connections to the New 52 SS.
And as for WW, the only similarities that I see to the New 52 right now are her costume (which kind of resembles the new one that he got in Geoff Johns JL book) and them going with the demigoddess origin for her apparently. But that's about it right now.

She doesn't fight in it the cape is ceremonial. So Edna shouldn't have a problem with it since she doesn't fight in it.

I don't know, the thing with Joker is they always do him a little different. Someone might disagree with a portrayal, but almost no Joker is the same, it keeps the character feeling fresh, innovative. Even so, there are those that have grown tired of seeing him.
Ares is usually the same type of villain every time, it's his raison d'etre. "God of War". I get ready to roll my eyes whenever he shows up, "of course Diana's fighting Ares, who else would she fight?"
Baroness von Gunther would be interesting, a non-superpowered antagonist with guile and resources over brawn.
Vandal Savage I could see, but DC has a thing about using characters simultaneously. DCAU wasn't allowed to use any Batman villains other than Joker in Justice League because both shows were airing around the same time allegedly. Arrow killed off Amanda Waller around the time Suicide Squad was announced. And despite resurrecting popularity in Green Arrow, he's not cast for the Justice League films. No signs of Mr. Terrific or The Atom either. Flash is the exception.
Anyway, Savage is already being done in Legends of Tomorrow.
Nothing's stopping them from using a character twice, but it's a rarity far as I know.
Giganta and Cheetah I could only see in The Dragon roles.
