Trope Pantheon Story thread

Well this place hasn't seen much light. Time to change the lamps!

I may have a story idea.

Plot: It's the Pantheonic Ocean. Zelda assumes the form of Tetra the Pirate, as she sets sail into the ocean with her crew. During her search for treasure, she looks through and spots a pirate ship. Unfortunately for the young pirate girl, this ship does not look friendly. Will she be able to evade the renegade ship and make it back, or will she have to fight as its ominous bow draws near?

If it's alright to ask for input on a story idea, I'll just put down a basic plot outline.

The 7th Doctor of Doctor Who arrives in his Temple to find Lucifer awaiting him, with the intent to take him on as a strategist for the Grand Alliance of Chaos, hoping to tempt him using his frustration at being stationed as part of the Combat Division of the Grand United Alliance of Good in spite of his aversion to fighting and his ego, only to find the Doctor better prepared for him than expected. A conversation ensues discussing the various failings of the alliances and their leaders.

Merry Christmas everyone! To celebrate, I got a short story of Kermit singing "One More Sleep Til Christmas" up! Hope you enjoy it!

This is my first time here, so I'll see what I can do. My first story proposal is a Spotlight story centering on Vlad von Carstein.

Spotlight - Remedy for Blood

• As Vlad spends his time in the Pantheon learning to adapt and settle in a world far different from the Old World and Sylvania, he hears word about the rampage and legends of the "Extinction Dragon" Nergigante. Reminded by the story of Blood Knight Abhorash, Vlad feels as if the Elder Dragon's blood could eliminate his own bloodlust and enable him to better his relationship with establishing Alliances without becoming overcome by the need to kill. Seeing this as a great opportunity to improve himself and enroll in a tough challenge, Vlad sets off with a few allies to track down and kill Nergigante, hoping that the Elder Dragon's blood will cure Vlad's bloodlust.

Is it possible to fix the grammar errors for these tales myself? It's pretty hard for me to want to read them in such a dilapidated state. Edit: Actually, looking at the page for the Trope Pantheon fanfic as a whole, I see that something else is causing problems on a greater scale. Links to specific parts are missing, and the storyline isn't as extended as I expected. (Posts discussing the Alternate!Gentaro arc seem to start at around 2015, and since this fanfic is described as going on for 3 years, I can assume that updates stopped at around 2018.) Is the writing behind the fanfic so bad that we're spending all our time fixing it?

I think the stuff we’re really focusing on fixing first are the stories that are adaptions of other canon plots. Those were bad ideas for the start and would have been infinitely more interesting if stories focused on dealing with the aftermath. And yeah, the fanfic page is really outdated and hope we band up to fix it.

I’m working on the next big story, The Fusion Odyssey. It’s about Nagito Komaeda, Madoka Kaname, and Darth Maul escaping Planet Fusion after being thrown there.

For the time being, conflicting ideas of plans, bad internet in Myanmar at the time and just me trying to live life made me unable to complete the stories I wanted.

And a lot of the tropers here just didn't like me pushing my ideas(since I'm more of a writer than a profiler) because of the plots I were making and the characterizations. I wanted to do something new, something bold, break walls. What I ended up doing is breaking me enough that I full out just QUIT working on the stories here.

I want to come back and do a story again but so many gods and tropers makes me feel like I can't live to what I want to write without someone stating, "This isn't the right way to write them."

We've retooled "Muse Hysteria" and "The Friendship Asylum" into "Dark Proxies" to avoid Arc Fatigue. Elements of your version are going to be retained, but the amount of people being 'corrupted' have been reduced to just four people.

(Note that "The Great Upheaval" is also being retooled into "Stars of Morning")

If you want to resume with tale plannings, just ask Safind. But please be aware that we're not going to use any wresters or characters from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic in Dark Proxies or Stars of Morning. You may feel free to submit them as a separate tale, though.

I wanted to do a piece that would take sometime after the Dark Proxies incident. If i use wrestlers or ponies, it's just in passing (like the "Firefly Fun House" being a popular show or Matt is on a cleansing to be renewed with his BROKEN powers). I still wish the Cutie Mark Crusaders were part of Dark Proxies though (Because in the original draft, without them, Gentaro would never have been found and it referenced their determination to return and be granted their Cutie Marks)

I was inspired to do a tale with Gentaro and Elena at the forefront since, to me, they were the key characters of the Dark Proxy tales and were going to be the driving force for the last story of the trilogy I wanted. This tale is called "Fractured Friendship" as it has the two wondering what's going to happen.

At this point, Steven's going through a meltdown and doesn't want to talk about it and Bayley has turned cynical and turned her back on the Avatars. For Gentaro, the Kamen Rider Club is in college (and Yuki is in space aka her actress is no longer gonna be coming back to do cameos due to her being part of a cult) and everything is just...changing. Gentaro and Elena are still friends, they know that, but how long? How long when the world around them is so different than before?

That's not including the fact that Gentaro is worried sometimes that what happened in Dark Proxies will return. Elena suggests that a camping trip for the two of them should help.

But then, they go Down the Rabbit Hole...

(Note: I want this to coincide with the ascension I'm planning for Wirt and Greg from Over the Garden Wall which I love to bits)

Dark Proxies has been changed to focus mainly on The DCU cast as well as Gentaro, but there will be no mentions of Elena or the Cutie Mark Crusaders. This isn't a shipping tale anymore. It is instead planned as a pantheonic adaptation of Dark Nights: Metal.

At best, Elena could cameo as a Ship Tease, but that's up to Safind.

No. I am not including Elena or any of these plotlines, as I do not believe in trying to enforce a Crossover Ship. You want to do that, go to your FF.net account and write your own story about it. I also don't see the need to increase the size of Volume I of the Tales. We have enough stories for this period as it is, and they need to be completed so we can move on to new material. Secondly, I have no intention to do what DC did and expand anything to do with the Dark Multiverse nor anything similar, so Barbatos is going to join the club of one-off villains.

Likewise, Gentaro does not strike me as the kind of Rider who would worry about this kind of thing, nor should he. The entire point of his conflict with Barbatos is how unlike Batman, who IS vulnerable to this kind of thing, Gentaro's too much of a sunshine ball to let it get to him. Think of how the Flying Dutchman couldn't handle Spongebob's babbling when on the verge of throwing him into Davy Jones' locker, and you'll get my meaning.

Also, it feels like you're trying to throw Steven's character arc in Future into Gentaro with the above. I question why you're trying to shuffle around character traits/infect other characters with the traits of others. This is not the PPG reboot, which tried to incorporate Steven Universe's writing style of little-combat into that world, which simply put, did not work.

I would also prefer that Greg and Wirt's origin story not tie into other plotlines. It retreads far too much old ground, and it feels like shilling instead of balancing, something that the old Tales had a nasty habit of doing. I'm not subscribing to the idea of a "superior" universe in a deliberate massive crossover, and the two would honestly work better if their introduction isn't being bogged down with an origin-story plot.

Finally, if you're feeling restricted despite the fact that the pool of available characters is growing day-by-day, then that is on you. Sorry to say, but the new paradigm of the Pantheon is to encourage increased character/plot/theme diversity, in both the stories and us as writers to help us improve. I'm not seeing any of that in what you have proposed, and your complaints have not helped your case.

You have pulled characters into archetypes that are the opposite of themselves and stuck them there due to their importance to the Project: Alternate!Gentaro arc, making it that much more difficult for others to work with the source characters they enjoyed to begin with. You have had two completely disparate sets of characters conjoined together to where if another character in the Pantheon interacts with one set but not the other because that's how things would naturally align, the other set has to be thrown in there next to them. You wanted to pen a story that would effectively crater an entire House of the Pantheon, with all of its potential tropes, as punishment for the fact that villains can do things, based on the bunk assumption that the entire House is just one trope deep shared by everybody in it and said trope somehow should've enabled Precrime Arrest protocols. You've even expressed in this very thread how you can't see the edited-for-continuity version of the PAG saga without feeling some type of way that it's not "yours" and how you want to write certain things "characterization be damned".

Your stories aren't being rejected or altered for no reason. They're being rejected or altered because, rather than embrace the vast expanse of creativity offered by the growing vat of source characters and your fellow contributors, you're trying to plant a certain vision into the ground that is all your own and have everyone and everything else either follow it unquestioningly or tiptoe around it to move forward. We're both professional wrestling fans, Camilla. You should know better than this. Approaching a collaborative endeavor this way creates disorder, not legend.

Speaking of pro wrestling, there are two specific things I want to cover and one of them is just that. Far from having a problem with wrestlers being included in stories, I'm all in favor of them being worked into plots in roles that don't require them to have a greater direct effect on the Pantheon or take on stronger forces at play than they should realistically be able to handle. For example, The Shield would not have been capable of handling Seto Kaiba as long as he had his Duel Monsters deck within a hundred-foot radius. Dean Ambrose not dismissing Kaiba as unimportant to apprehend would have done nothing. They would, however, be able to act as an unofficial arm of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the pro wrestling world, or (in the case of my explanation for Seth Rollins' change of seat and trope from Sellout to Regretful Traitor) play a hand in helping peak Badass Normal members of The Avengers stop a drug- or sex-trafficking ring like the villains of Far Cry 3 from expanding their operations to full scale within the Pantheon.

Then there's your plan to enter developments like The Fiend/Firefly Fun House and Bayley's Face–Heel Turn into The Cynic into a story that would've retroactively been placed in Year One. You could do something with those in a story for sure under the right parameters, especially Bray Wyatt's stuff given how it peeks into the supernatural and took command of the business, but it has to be material working into the future, not the past. We have Year Two stories both ongoing and planned containing events that will barely lead into games such as Devil May Cry 5 and Kingdom Hearts III. Nothing from 2019 source material should be a part of Year One.

Finally, Crossover Shipping cannot be enforced. You will never be able to make Gentaro and Elena into an Official Couple which everyone has to accept and work into every plot either of them ever has, just like I will never be able to do the same for Greed and Lin Beifong. The Pantheon is a collaborative effort with many contributors blending characters from all of fiction into a single world, and there is NO WAY everyone will agree that any two characters from entirely separate works make the best couple together. You can play with it, you can make it low key or implied in some form, but do not expect it to become enforced canon.

Greed's connection to Beifong is a factor in Homunculus Theory, but before that all he got was a snide mention from King Bradley and a cameo as a drinking partner of Turanga Leela. If you expect that Safind has to incorporate Gentaro and Elena as a ship, you will be disappointed. Hell, even the notion of Jeanne being the possible mother of Nero cannot be actively enforced. It can definitely be worked with, due to their franchises being implied to take place in divergent versions of the same world, but to enforce it as confirmed canon is not going to happen. Not when the two franchise timelines could be revealed to make this impossible, or a future Devil May Cry installment centered around Nero as The Hero could give us his mother's true identity.

And I'm a staunch anti-shipper. If it's there in canon, then fine, I'll work with it. But otherwise I don't care about the concept.

Yeah. More times than not, I stick with what's in canon. But a little playing around wouldn't hurt. Like giving some characters a chance to get to know each other but realize they may not be compatible.

I won't be able to say anything until March 15 because of real-life commitment, so I'm just going to lay down the most common tropes Camilla's tales are guilty of.

• Arc Fatigue: Several tales were planned over one single event.
• Crossover Shipping: Gentaro/Elena is the most romantic couple since Romeo and Juliet. But it's not canon, and it's being plastered everywhere.
• Creator's Pet: Ponies and wrestlers. That is all.
• Dark Fic: Duh.
• Designated Victim: The Cutie Mark Crusaders are always in danger so that wresters can save them. No exceptions.
• Guilt by Association Gag: Yeah, let's smite Prophecy because they're all powerful seers who do nothing to stop any villain.
• Hate Fic: Let's send 99% of the pantheon to torture Mitsuzane, 24/7!
• Loads And Loads Of Characters: The Friendship Asylum alone had over 50 characters, mainly as more victims of the madness to show that it looks as if 99% of the pantheon is suffering.
• Out of Character: Outside the "pets", hardly anybody is true to their canon selves.
• Plot Tumor: A bunch of brainwashed characters are going around causing havoc? That's unimportant. Time for more ponies and wrestlers.
• Ron the Death Eater: Good and neutral aligned characters were made villains despite the presence of hundreds of actual villains in the pantheon.
• Wimpification: Immune to darkness? Drop a white orb on him, and it's instantly revoked.

I would've added more, but the list could go on, so I'm just pointing out the most concerning. Camilla, if you're reading this, this list is a caution so that you won't fall into the pitfalls from earlier. I'd like to do another tale with you, but we have standards here.

So what you people are saying is, the writing in general was forced by the original writer? I believe I understand, what with much of the cast not making sense to me. And the Alternate!Gentaro arc is one of the first tales for the Pantheon, and therefore forms a weak foundation. Is there anything I can do to help with the overall fanfic?

I'm not good at writing original stuff, but I'm still capable of fixing grammar and cleaning up the pages for each tale on this site.
