Hallways

Cody was completely, totally lost in the hallways. This school was way more twisted and maze-like than he'd thought. He seemed to have lost Victor too. Maybe he'd gone too fast? Or maybe it was just the halls. Probably just that.

This was all so exciting! He felt like he was on an adventure! He continued running down halls, until he got to a door. He reached out to open it, but before he could, it was kicked down, by some sort of demon, yelling about a "cool principal". What?

Auditorium

In the auditorium, Strake was mowing down his own golems left and right. He even kept doing it as he cocked his head towards Bay.

"They're animated stone." Strake said, firing a stone fist at another statue. The bigger, humanoid statues seemed to be focusing on the auditorium. "I'm a stone mage. Just try to get out. Ms. Pierce and I can handle them, and do you have any idea how much we'd lose if we got sued?" Indeed, Ms. Pierce was giving a good account of herself, as was the ogre woman. The leech man and the math teacher had made their escape with Dr. Kleiss.

Hallways

Leo took a deep breath. He wasn't going to let a girl distract him now, not when he was being menaced by deranged busts. He noticed a trophy case next to him. He pressed his index and middle fingers to his jugular, invoking the spell. Instantly, he felt comfortably numb. Hiding his left hand in the sleeve of his jacket, he launched his fist at the glass. Again. And again. And again. He felt his fingerbones fracture, but he could heal them later. It didn't hurt. Not with his magic. Knocking out some of the glass, he took the 1995 Chess Team 2nd Place trophy.

"Pick a trophy." Leo said. He didn't even feel the beam that hit him as he moved out from behind cover and hurled the award at the bust (This one was of a leech man, not unlike the one in the auditorium). They didn't seem to be of too high quality, as the blow broke it in half.

"They aren't so tough." Leo said. The beams only seemed to burn the first thing they came into contact with. A large hole had been burnt in his favorite tank top, but his chest underneath was only lightly singed. And then, as Matt joined the battle, Leo grabbed another trophy. He was about to charge in and engage the statues in melee, when...

"Straza! What are you doing dressed like that?!" Dr. Kleiss yelled at his daughter. "It's a disgrace! What will the students think if they see my daughter dressed like that?!" He wasted no time unbuttoning his olive-slacks, then pulling them down.

"Tightie whities...That explains so much." Leo thought, as he watched the vice principal hand his pants to his daughter. He hefted the '72 Leapfrog championship and rushed into the field. With two targets, engaging the busts in melee wasn't complete suicide. Leo brought the lead trophy down on another bust, crushing it.

"Put these on. You can handle yourself, right?" The now-pantsless VP said. He turned to any of the students following him. "The exit's just down that hallway over there. If you want to stay and fight, I won't stop you. I have to go meet the culprit. I think I have a hunch." Dr. Kleiss saluted Dian, then headed down the hall towards his office.

Office

"The caves. Someone has a destiny to meet there. You?" The custodian unhooked the keyring from his belt, and began to twirl them around his long, spindly index finger. "I know it's a student. Better hurry. The offer expires in..." The custodian looked at his left wrist, which had no watch. "Seventy-three seconds. Seventy-two now. No, seventy-one. Seventy..."

((I'm really sorry to not make the golems machines, but I promise to have some robots as enemies next time! Also, @Nick The Swing, when did Victor get pinned down? I sometimes miss things, and now I'm worried...Or do you mean he couldn't move because of the statues?))

Cody was so confused. There were statues firing lasers, and the demon who'd kicked down the door was now pantsless? And he'd given them to some girl?

Beside the girl, Cody saw Victor, and ran over, trying to dart his way between cover to avoid the lasers. "Victor! What's going on? What are these golems? Who's that demon guy without the pants?"

Arlen Westlau

A destiny!?

Arlen could not suppress a genuine, beatific smile, one of the first times he had ever shown this much positive emotion. He could have a purpose - some role he could have without needing to be everything great already.

He spoke in a highly anticipating voice, "Y-yes that...that IS me I think. I...have a destiny! Yes, yes!"

He did not know what was down in the caves but he guessed it would be more clues or even the eclipse man himself.

Matthew

Matthew crushed one of the statues that blasted Leo and then ripped through one attempting to attack from behind, his futuristic sword ripping through marble and scattering pieces of the golem.

Another golem met its end when Matt crushed it with a long bladed spear, bringing the blade down through the head.

Dismissing the spear, he moved to continue slashing through any golems going for Victor, eventually ending up back to back with Leo.

"You good? No end to these guys it seems..."

Victor gave a grateful nod to Matthew. "Thanks for the save." He said, before spotting Cody and giving a quick wave. "Glad to see you're fine. Long story, these things are trying to kill us." He replied quickly as he grabbed a bust by its neck and blew a stream of yellow smoke at it, The caustic gas quickly ate through the statue's internal circuitry and corroded the metal components, rendering it useless.

Victor then hurled the bust at at another statue, shattering both. "So do we run, or you want to help these guys return the favour?" He asked Cody.

@OOC: Heroic, Victor was hiding behind another pillar to escape the statues in the hall. Matthew provided him with some breathing room to react.

"Oh, great. Least he has his nomenclature on point." Al commented, then rushed out into the hallways.

Pendulum's busy right now so I'm just gonna move Hela right along...

Hela was about to say more when her phone buzzed. Adrienne, with great goddamn news. She shifted her voice into a guttural scottish accent briefly and declared, "A fight?! Count me in!" and briefly held it up for Felicidad to see. "Look, let's meet up at the central buildings once this is all over."

Then, instead of taking an elevator, Hela sprinted down the hall and vaulted out a window, clambering down windowsills and slowing her descent down sheer surfaces with her claws before setting off for the central building in a four-legged lope.

Hallways

Al lumbered in behind Kleiss, giving a cursory nod and hello to the new fighters. The Daddy comment raised a nonexistent eyebrow, but he kept quiet. He'd seen weirder online, to be sure. Not worth commenting on, though Al also suddenly wished he had taken that camera upgrade from Dad before coming here.

"Clear the way!" He declared. "I don't really have a chant for this exact occasion, but..." He strode forward towards one of the statues, speaking in a clear and level voice. "Barukh attah Adonai eloheinu melekh ha-olam, hagomel l’chayavim tovot, shegamalani kol tov!"

At the last line his voice raised to a shout, and he leapt into the air and delivered a vicious dropkick to one of the constructs, shattering it straight in half. The real Golem hit the floor, wincing. Way cooler than practical in this case. And pretty painful. As Al stood, he could feel the multiple fractures spreading from the base of his feet. He really shouldn't be doing that.

"Just..." Felicidad was about to say until she realized that she was about to suggest ways to beat up a dude. A dude who's a racist, regardless, but-

And suddenly, Hela's on the rush, she didn't really catch what she was saying intially as Felicidad was wandering in her thoughts, though she did catch something about meeting up at the central building, before literally running out of the building.

"Eh, wait, hold up!" Felicidad shouted before she clambering about the hall trying to find the stairways. Whatever it is, it must be damn important to break through a fucking window. Do that gnoll even suffered a scratch from that?

"Huh?" that's all Julia can say before Adrienne jumped out of the building, though she was pretty impressed with the moves Adrienne pulled to safely land on the ground. Wow, Julia thought to herself, that's some impressive skills with spells, I wonder what I can do after merely a year in this school...

She shrugged, guessing that she might as well get her ass over to the main hall soon. As she casually open the door, she was suddenly bashed on the sides.

"Hey, watch where you...oh," she was about to reprimand but then she saw who bump into her.

"Oh, hey, sis," Felicidad greeted hurriedly as she quickly got back on her feet and helped her sis get up on her back. "You going to the auditorium? Cool, let's go!"

"Wait! Sis! What's the ruuuuuuuush-" Julia asked but she would soon be interrupted as she would be shaking along with the stairs as Felicidad go down on them, it's almost the exact same feeling as riding a bike down the stairs, except with a harder suspension. Julia would know, because she was once a passenger on her sis's bike ride down some 25 stairs at a city park. Not surprisingly, that bike was soon trashed.

Fight? Hmm...

Turning to look at the Golems, he figured he'd rather do that than run. They looked like they'd make great stress relievers. (And y'know, he could help some people. That too.)

He looked around, and, unable to find a weapon he'd be comfortable with using, instead headed into a bathroom. A second later, he came out a large, white, wolf like creature and lunged at the Golems. He was able to knock several over, but not completely destroy them.

Straza turned back to the students fighting the golems. "Shit...Uh, are they alive? You think these guys can be seduced or whatever? I could try distracting them!" Straza moved to the side, trying to get the attention of the golems, concentrating to appear as whatever they would find most appealing. She wasn't actually sure if it would work or not, but it was worth a shot.

Gertrude studied the 'Eclipse', running her eyes over him from head to toe. She then towards Arlen, now disgusted with his sudden change of attitude. Goes without saying that all lesser men succumb to their greed in an ugly way.

Cutting the pathetic this-is-your-prophecy act to a halt, the small lady interrupted, "I think we have more important matters to think of... Namely the tarnishing of my family name?"

The auditorium had bursted into chaos and the only safe place she could think of was with any other person. Alissandra had followed the shadow-girl to the hallway where all the other students - and teachers - seemed to be, all of them trying to counter the malfunction. Adrienne grinned as she spotted Hela, and she adjusted her path to meet Hela's. "Glad you could make it! The entrance by the principal's office is closest, so we can head in that way." As they made it to the doorway, Adrienne glanced through the windows into the Principal's office. "... Well now. That looks perfectly normal, doesn't it?" she said.

Isra dodged to the side as another golem swung at her. She inwardly cursed the harsh florescent lighting that the school used - all the shadows nearby other than her own were thin grey things. Well, she'd have to make do. She pulled long tendrils of shadow-stuff out from her own shadow, wrapping them around the nearest golem as tightly as she could.

A golem charges through a nearby wall from the hallways. Bay reflexively activates a defensive illusion of a bigger golem.

Which the golem attempts to punch, and wheels so far through it ends up losing balance and falling through.

"...Going that way. Parents don't have that great lawyers."

With that, Bay enters a new tunnel, emerging near a student from a damaged wall.

There! The animates, distracted by the efforts of the other students, gave Calvin enough time to prop up his scooter. One foot firmly set, Calvin yelled cheekily, loudly, "Hey, ya sacks o' rock!" To accentuate his point, Calvin hurled a discarded textbook at one of the golems menacing a gaggle of students. As it turned its eyes (did golems even have eyes?) towards the culprit, Calvin mockingly bounced his scooter in a challenge, then set off, not away from the chaos, but towards it.

As he entered the golem's range, it brought a massive fist streaking down. Calvin made a sudden, impossible stop, spinning on the spot. Playfully darting hither and thither, he led the construct towards another group, baiting them to follow him...

Outside the Principal's Office

Hela stopped so suddenly and with so much weight behind her that she skidded, leaving a black skidmark in her wake as she scrabbled on the tiles. She stood as if that hadn't happened, and walked over to the window. "Oh, huh. Weird. That's that neo-nazi kid, right? And no VP inside." She swept her eyes down the hall, noting that there were only windows on one side of the door. Ideas started to form. There was obviously something going on in there, something important. Hela wanted in. The instincts of a scavenger told her how.

"Follow my lead." Then, the Gnoll said, "I think we shou—" and turned with a frown on her face, staring down the hall at nothing. She nodded in supposed comprehension, then held up a hand and walked behind the door, and jerked a head at Adrienne to do the same. She held her head up, making sure her voice came in loud and clear, and rapped her knuckles on the door. Kleiss's voice came out of Hela's throat instead of her own.

"Hey! Who's in there? Someone has obviously tampered with this doorknob, I want to know who's responsible! Open up in there!" She switched back to her own voice. "Can't you just open the door...?" Kleiss again. "No! There could be a trap at work! My position is highly valued, you know. This sort of thing happens often in my position, Ms. Varaide, and it pays to always be alert. I'd think someone so accustomed to violence would understand that." Back to Hela. "Oh yeah, institutionalized violence is something I'm intimately aware of, sir." She grinned at Adrienne and grunted in anger as Kleiss, sputtering in fury with an expression of absolute glee on her face, then banged on the door again. "Ergh—rrgh—Open up!" Kleiss's voice said.

Principal's Office

The custodian's face twisted into a snarl as he heard Dr. Kleiss' voice. He was here this soon?! He reached for the key ring and yanked a key off of it, then threw it to the ground.

"Find the door, and descend to the lake of blood." The custodian said. He was addressing everyone in the room. With that, he pushed himself off the desk, onto his hands and feet. He crawled up the wall with alarming speed, like a wolf spider, defying gravity as he ascended to the ceiling. He pulled aside a ceiling panel, then climbed into the hole, shutting it behind him.

Outside the Principal's Office

"Helno, why are you impersonating me?" Kleiss asked, stopping in front of the door to his office "I have to admit, it is a very funny impression. You know what's even funnier, though? I'm going to give you detention for it." He had arrived just in time to watch her bust down the door.

"And another detention for breaking my door down. Anywho." He turned to Marianne." DAMMIT MARIANNE! I KNOW YOU DID THIS!" He yelled. The pantsless incubus ran in.

Halls

The constructs had drastically thinned out due to the student's efforts. Isra's shadow crushed the golem to pieces, while they seemed to have trouble getting back up after Jian knocked them down. Too heavy. They were built for strength and durability, not agility. And Victor's gas attack didn't seem to have a lot of effect on the statues themselves...But the lasers on the busts were rendered completely ineffective.

"I'm fine. I can heal after." Leo said. He had a few scorch marks, but was otherwise fine. Matthew and himself were cutting through the constructs like a hot pair of knives through twin sticks of slightly-melted butter. It helped a lot that Straza was distracting them. The golems suddenly stopped attacking, as before their eyes, the succubus transformed. No longer was she a filthy meatbag: She was a glorious marble block. Perfectly smooth, with every side making a sharp corner. A perfect, rectangular prism. Some of the few golems remaining managed to collect themselves, but a lot of them just didn't seem to have much fight left in them.

OOC: @Svenorzokarkoff, Ah, thank you. Like I said, I have tendency to misunderstand things. Just making sure I had things straight. Anywho, I was gonna say the golems are entirely magical...But I guess some of them can have electronic weapons. Like the statue's laser eyes are laser guns that are built into the magical golems.

The quest for snacks unsuccessful (what was with everything covered in nuts this year?), Octa headed to the main building, slipping through the huge doors of the entrance hallway. And promptly shrieked, ducking a blinding laser beam that frizzled out upon hitting the wall, leaving a mark. Another beam narrowly missed her head.

Maybe that guy was right, she thought, fear jolting her into action as she took flight, looking for cover. Everything appeared vivid and pulsing with energy, especially the security statues going haywire. Maybe they decided to cancel everyone’s classes this year. Wouldn’t put it past them. Either that or this is one of those new orientation initiatives the school always wants to try.

She darted between a pillar and wall, willing her heart to just calm down a little. The sound of toppling piles of stone alone made it hard to pick out individual voices. What was going on? Then –

A golem slammed into the floor in front of her. She looked up sharply. There was a big wolfish thing standing in its place, having knocked down a few other golems. Thinking quickly, Octa opened her notebook, from which flew several pages. Swirling into the air in patterns, they split into strips and landed innocently on the statues’ faces. They glowed a dark orange on the edges, while the statues lay very still.

Then she glanced up at the wolf. “You might want to skedaddle, bro. Or sis. Not sure what I just did there.” With that, she started to peel away from the scene. As much as one could in this crazy place, anyway.

Matthew

Matthew looked rather flabbergasted when he saw what was happening to the golems attacking, first they seemed distracted by the scantily clad woman, and then most of them stopped fighting altogether.

What...the...hell?

"You seeing this, man?" Matt looked around them, at the demolished remains of the berserked golems that had attacked them.

Just what is going on here? Who made those things attack? What's going on here?

Arlen

Arlen immediately glared at Adrienne as soon as she snatched the key that, in his mind, was the key to him becoming a somebody. A famous person. A great. A person whose life had importance.

That was the key to his destiny! And she just seized it. Took away his one shot at importance and meaning like it was nothing.

"No...no no no no no!!" He then turned, wheeled on his feet, grimacing and looking all at once furious and like he was a step away from crying, "Give me that key! You...you harlot! Give me that key!"

He pulled off his glove, ready to throw just about any horrid smoke or gas at her.
