Liar has a third eye, the same third eye that made hair trigger bitch go from a gentile girl to raging berserker & despair junkie an unstoppable juggernaut that had to be cleaved in two to be finally put down.
Someone is getting their ass beat here.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well then, lets have the appropriate theme ready:
Hope it's at least a good fight.
One Strip! One Strip!
Well Smoke Trap magic & Fire magic should make for some fun shots.
I'm just hoping Liar actually amounts to something. Seriously Licht's minions suck, despair junkie just randomly shows only to get bodied & never mentioned again while hair trigger bitch also randomly shows only to get suddenly redeemed so she can be Mars' waifu.
Not very good showings for the organization in general.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'm now at volume 5… Okay, the Sorcerer King is kind of badass. Pretty broken even. And we learn that you should never, ever interrupt charmy's meal. Ever.
Then we learn that Imouto Creep isn't just an Imouto Creep, he's also a sociopathic asshole. Yay…? Sorry, but no amount of tragic backstory is gonna make me like this guy. Meanwhile, Asta meets… Luka from Berserk? Seriously, it's Luka. ô.Ô But then Asta obviously had to make that horrible "You would make a good wife" remark that shonen characters still say in fucking 2017. I know BC takes place in a pseudo-medieval world, but come on. And it's really a shame, because Luka Rebecca isn't so bad as a character.
Then evil bad guys do evil stuff, yadda yadda… BUT I must admit I don't dislike that Mad Scientist girl. She's an evil evildoer, yes, but at least her dialogue doesn't consist in "You don't have any magic, go back to the boonies, you lowly peasant", and that's already a lot. And she's just pretty entertaining overall.
Meanwhile, episode 10 showed the potential benefits of a slower pace. The death of the mayor clearly felt much more meaningful than in the manga thanks to the previous episodes' expansion on his character.

Aaand a video game is coming. Not much info yet.
Meanwhile, volume 6 takes Talking Is a Free Action to whole new level.
Like, Yami literally teaches Asta a new technique in the middle of a fight… what the heck…
Oh my God right, in the middle of a ferocious battle where he's pissed Licht & his just stop to take a piss or something despite outnumbering them. That's some bullshit right there.
I can't remember the fight well, did Licht & Yami's battle just devolve into them shooting white & black laser-beams at each other?
Also funny how that game add spoils Asta getting a second sword for anime only watchers.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It's all the more infuriating that other than that (and the repetitive pattern of reinforcements coming in the nick of time on both sides)… the action in this volume was actually pretty solid. Good teamwork and a nice variety of spells overall. A few interesting reveals too.
Lol, true. >.> Though he gets it in the second arc, so it's not that big a spoiler…
As for the fight, eeh, there's a little more subtlety? There's a light whip at some point…

I just remember reading a comment once at how the use of magic is very generic & it was a statement targeted directly at Yami.
I kinda agree. As cool as Yami is you could swap out his shadow magic for general energy-based magic & nothing about his style would change much. Doesn't help that he does a lot of sword beams.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Ain't it.
Volume 7… actually a pretty good volume. ô.Ô Maybe it has to do with the absence of cliché villains this time around. Of course there's still some annoying stuff (like, every panel where Gosh appears), but that little showdown in the Drowned City is kinda refreshing for just how good-spirited it all is. It's just like a sports game, and it's a very welcome break. Buuut it only lasts until the end of the volume. Oh well.
The Purple Orca captain being a traitor was so obvious that I can only see it as a sort of red herring…

Yeah, I noticed the unfinished pages as well.
Anyway, Meleoleora is the only good thing going on here. Lets hope she doesn't get worfed.
One Strip! One Strip!
