Awwwww yeah. Reserving Gurren Lagann, and I'll have the sheet up in the next day or so.
If I had that kind of power, I'd have dropped a meteor on your house ages ago~Excellent intro! The whole situation kinda reminds me of the Madoka movie...
The city map is a nice touch! Helpful too.
Anyway:
- Name: Mazinger Zeta / Koji Kabuto
- Work of Origin: Mazinger Zeta manga / anime
- Appearance [1]
. Size: 50 Meters.
- Powers, Weapons and Abilities: The Mazinger is made of a highly durable alloy called Japanium. It is equipped with weapons ranging from lasers to missiles to blades to rocket punches. It can fly (with a jet pack called the Scrambler) and function underwater. Koji knows martial arts and carries a ray gun.
- Personality: Koji is a bit too proud and often argues with his friends. However he cares about them and will not hesitate to protect innocents at any cost.
- Backstory:
Koji's grandfather, Yuso Kabuto, was a noted scientist. When both of Koji's parents died, Koji and his younger brother Shiro went to live with Yuso.
One day some strange men killed his grandfather! Before dying, Yuso explained that they were agents of his old enemy, Doctor Hell, who planned to conquer the world using giant robotic monsters. To counter him, Yuso secretly designed the Mazinger Zeta, a giant robot for Koji to use. Then he died.
Since then, Koji has been using the Mazinger to oppose Hell's forces. He and Shiro also relocated to the Photonic Research Lab, where Yuso's friend Professor Yumi takes care of the Mazinger. Koji has a rivalry going with Yumi's daughter, Sayaka, mostly because she's a feminist and cannot stand his macho posturings. (They are secretly attracted to each other, of course.
)
As far as he knows, Koji has come to the island on vacation, having finally defeated his foes.

The Millipede, marvelous and mysterious as she is, probably wouldn't work as a PC character, although it might work as a one-off antagonist.
The former. It's kind of a cliché, I know, but it will tie into the larger plot.
Man, that'd be a lot of 60-feet-tall robots all at once.
And speaking of entire teams: would the Protectobots
be okay as a character selection? On their own, the four limb-bots would probably only top about 20 feet or so (while Hot Spot would probably reach 30). Defensor, their combined form, would be around 50-60 feet - without any additional mass-shifting like they tend to be portrayed with. It's one thing to be able to have a human stand in the palm of your hand like it was a boat, but to have other Transformers be able to do that...

Yep! I'll elaborate more on that in a little while. In the meantime, I might as well throw my own character into the ring.
- Name: Devastator
- Work of Origin: Transformers: Robots in Disguise
- Appearance: "Devastate".
◊ Going by his most recent appearance in Onyx Interface and Combiner Wars, he's roughly 40 meters tall or so, taking mass-shifting into account.
- Powers, Weapons and Abilities: Devastator, well, devastates things. There's no other way to really describe his talents. Although he's armed with some medium-range anti-personnel weaponry such as missile launchers and a short range energy blaster, his main advantage comes from his prodigious strength, outstripping pretty much every other Cybertronian out there. Since his upgrade, he's become a mixture of both brains and brawn; with the analytical mind of Prowl thrown into the mixture, he's gotten a lot better at outthinking his opponents.
- Personality: Like most gestalts, Devastator isn't what you might call social or friendly; he's mostly all business when the Constructicons need to bring him in. Ever since Prowl replaced Scrapper on the team, his famously unstable temper has subsided, although when the situation calls for it he's more than happy to throw caution to the wind and really cut loose. If his components can't agree on the right course of action, however, it's possible for him to collapse or even spontaneously uncombine at crucial moments.
- Backstory: Devastator was the second combiner created after the death of Nexus Prime, and the first actual success. The Constructicons first unleashed Devastator during their infamous attack on New York. Not long afterwards, however, Scrapper was killed by humans, leaving the other Constructicons more or less unable to combine. After the end of the Great War Bombshell experimented with combination technology, rebuilding Devastator in a new design and using Prowl as an unwilling guinea pig for his experiment. The experiment was successful, and Devastator rampaged around for a while before Prowl managed to reassert his own consciousness and quite literally tear Devastator apart. In the aftermath, the Constructicons were quite impressed with what they had seen in Prowl's mind - particularly Prowl's own vendetta against Spike Witwicky, the human who had murdered Scrapper in cold blood- to the point where they abandoned what remained of the Decepticons and became Prowl's new personal strike team, fondly referring to their new leader as "boss".
- Name: Prowl
- Appearance: Robot mode
◊ and vehicle mode
◊.
- Powers, Weapons and Abilities: He wields an acid rifle, which can do a decent amount of damage to lightly armored targets. More importantly, he possesses a keen analytical intellect and an eye for strategy, which greatly bolsters the intellectual strength and stability of Devastator.
- Personality: Prowl is, for the most part, cold, logical, and analytical, and frequently tries to turn a bad situation to his own advantage. His detached façade belies a passionate 'bot who cares deeply about his principles. Prowl's sense of "greater good" means that he's more than a little pragmatic; not to the point where he'd willingly endanger or deliberately kill an ally, but to the point where he'd certainly be able to write off unintentional casualties as "acceptable losses"... particularly if they've done something to tick him off somewhere along the line. Prowl rarely forgets a grudge.
- Backstory: During the Great War, Prowl was Optimus Prime's right-hand bot. After the war, he was captured and brainwashed by Bombshell, and subsequently became a guinea pig for the Constructicon experiments. After regaining his own consciousness, he was initially wary of re-combining into Devastator. When Shockwave threatened to destroy the entire universe, Prowl reluctantly formed Devastator once again. Since then, he's grown increasingly fond of becoming Devastator... to the point where the strain is slowly driving him insane.
- Name: The Constructicons
- Appearance: Can we fix it? Yes we can!
◊ (Left to right: Scavenger, Hook, Mixmaster, Long Haul, Bonecrusher)
- Powers, Weapons and Abilities: The Constructicons are for the most part physical powerhouses, even without Devastator to fall back on. Most of them wield some kind of short-ranged projectile weapons, but they're more than happy to simply pummel whatever needs pummelling. Aside from that, they're also talented structural engineers, allowing them to quickly rig together forifications or find the weak spots in many structures.
- Personality: The Constructicons are still getting used to this whole "Autobot teammate" thing, and for the most part they're willing to let the boss call the shots. In some ways, they're far more personable then Prowl. You could even call some of them friendly, and even the thuggish Long Haul and Bonecrusher are at least boisterous, and undoubtedly enthusiastic about their line of work. That said, working alongside humans is something that will probably not come easy to any of them. Although they've always been close-knit, recently they've started becoming even more indistinguishable from one another, to the point where they've started finishing one another's sentences and gradually gaining one another's quirks and idiosyncrasies. Surely there can't be any psychological side-effects to regularly merging your minds into a gigantic death machine, are there?
- Backstory: The Constructicons were among the earliest Decepticon recruits. They eventually volunteered to be lab rats for Shockwave's combination experiments, granting them the ability to merge into Devastator. They were left rudderless after the defeat of Megatron and the death of Scrapper, but the Prowl incident gave them a new purpose in life, and caused them to defect to the Autobots so that they could stay close to their new idol.
For those who keep up with the IDW-verse, Prowl and the gang are abducted just after Onyx Interface and before Combiner Wars.

Wasn't sure who to pick. Decided to go with the obvious choice.
- Name: The Iron Giant
- Work of Origin: The Iron Giant
- Appearance: Superman...
◊ (~15 m tall)
- Powers, Weapons and Abilities: The Giant possesses a variety of powerful energy weapons, including arm cannons, a plasma launcher in his chest, and heat vision. He has rocket boots that enable him to fly, and can easily break the sound barrier while doing so. The Giant is also self-repairing; each and every piece of his body, if removed, will be pulled back to him and fit itself into its proper place, though they move rather slowly so this isn't useful in a fight.
- Personality: A Gentle Giant if there ever was one, the Iron Giant wants only to help others, instead of hurting them as he was built to do. Enthralled by the story of Superman, he aspires to be a hero, because it is what he chooses to be. Does Not Like Guns, or being called a gun, and if his eyes turn red you should probably run away.
- Backstory: A machine from another world. It fell to Earth and was slightly damaged, causing it to lose all memory of where and how it was made. A young boy named Hogarth discovered the Giant outside his small town, and taught it that it did not have to be a weapon. The military was called in to fight it by a mean-spirited government agent, but realized that it only fought in self-defense and stood down. The agent, angered by their refusal to fight, called in a nuclear strike on the town, which would doom all its inhabitants. The Giant stopped the bomb. A statue was made in its honor by the townsfolk, unaware of its self-repair processes.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?IG is accepted, just so long as we assume that he's not completely indestructible, and that his individual body parts can be damaged enough so that they can't properly reattach or something similar. Also, his chest-mounted instant-vaporization cannon might need to be toned down a little bit.
Other than that, he should work out.
god damnit my childhood. Tear Jerker ending.
And I think I might go with Amuro in the Nu Gundam. But go Gundam Extreme with having other Gundam pilots act as support of his chosing.
Sheet will be posted later.
Actually the IG gets his arms knocked off by a train. And the train isn't even that damaged by it. So he's not hard to break apart, he's just really good at putting himself back together.
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?Time to do what I usually do and go with the weird entrant.
I've been wanting to play this guy.
- Name: Gainer Sanga and King Gainer
- Work of Origin: Overman King Gainer
- Appearance: Gainer
◊ and King Gainer
◊. King Gainer is just under a couple stories tall.
- Powers, Weapons and Abilities:
- Game Champ: Yep, Gainer is the recognized champion and "King" of the videogame called Overbattle. Believe it or not those skills actually can carry over into his piloting of King Gainer. He is even known to use the game to improve his skills. Who says video games are bad for you?
- Photon Mat: King Gainer, like all other Overmen, is able to produce what is known as a Photon Mat. Photon Mats take the form of a flat ring of energy that usually circles the Overman, or otherwise is usually close to it. The Photon Mat provides several abilities to King Gainer, such as flight, a barrier, and can even be used offensively like a disc.
- Chain Gun: Not what you might think. King Gainer has a sword it wields. On the flat sides of the blades it has barrels that it can fire out of. Also, the blade can channel energy to act similar to a chainsaw, to allow it to have an easier time cutting through some things. King Gainer has a total of two of these weapons.
- Overskill: Every Overman comes with a unique power that they are capable of using whenever they need. King Gainer's Overskill allows it to move at incredible speeds. It is able to move fast enough to leave after images and seemingly fade in and out of vision.
- Overfreeze: Due to being one of the Early Overmen, the first made Overmen, King Gainer is also capable of using the Overfreeze ability. By channeling energy, King Gainer can freeze most objects in the surrounding area. This requires a very skilled pilot though, and requires too much energy to just be thrown around.
- Overfreeze Bullets: As a toned down version of the Overfreeze, King Gainer can generate bullets with the same ability. By loading them into the Chain Gun and firing them at something, the bullets will freeze whatever they hit.
- Overcoats: An interesting ability that all Overmen share is the ability to remove and exchange their coats. When an Overman puts on the coat of another, they are able to temporarily imitate that Overman's unique Overskill.
- Hyperspace Pockets: King Gainer posseses pockets on its hips that it uses to store its Chain Guns and Overfreeze bullets. These pockets seem too small to hold these things, but it has no problems pulling these items out when it needs them.
- Personality: Gainer can be a little recluse and reluctant to open up to people. He likes to keep an even and calm demeanor whenever he can, really only getting invested when piloting. He is slow to make friends, but will fight for them when he has them. Hes a pretty good kid overall, willing to fight to protect people even when its for a cause he personally hates. He can be easily embarrassed and gets thrown off by fairly silly people.
- Backstory: Gainer grew up in a Domeopolis in Siberia for the majority of his life. His life was pretty normal up until his parents were killed not long ago. When he found out that they were killed with anti-Exodus posters in hand, he turned to blaming Exodus supporters. He shut himself away in his home and dived head first into gaming for months. In this time he acquired the title of King and made a friend over the internet named Cynthia. Slowly he started attending school again until he was thrown in prison under suspicion of planning and Exodus. He wound up sharing a cell with a professional Exodus planner, Gain Bijou, and ended up roped into helping him. This lead to his first time piloting and naming King Gainer, after stealing it from a museum. Thanks to Gain and Gainer, the Exodus was able to go off without a hitch. Now Gainer finds himself traveling across Siberia with half off his town, heading toward the mythical land of Yapan. His anger at Exodus has diminished and hes even started making friends.
This probably isn't what you want to be a part of this RP, and will probably get rejected, but instead of your usual giant robot fighting machine, I sign-up as a normal-ish sized giant team made specifically for busting giant robot fighting machines? I'm talking about The Wonderful 101 of course.
If they can't get in on their own, it helps that they DO have a giant fighting robot (though not HUGE) that can theoretically turn into an even bigger fighting robot. But I wanna see if I can get the team themselves in first or not.

Welcome to scenic Rivermouth City! This tropical metropolis of glass and steel stretches across the coastline and even sprawls over onto the nearest islands. The vast river lazes its way through the city underneath a plethora of bridges. The diverse array of bridges- ranging from archaic steel girders to sleek carbon-fiber suspension bridges -serve as a cross-section of the city’s architectural heritage, stretching from one part of Rivermouth to the other. The city has very nearly shed the last vestiges of its 20th century trappings; glassy skyscrapers and condominiums have overtaken crumbling postwar factories and warehouses. Streamlined monorails ferry commuters from one high-tech office tower to the next.
Tourists of all stripes lounge on palm-tree studded beaches, hoping to absorb the balmy July sun. The local airport has been closed for “maintenance” for so long, it’s hard to believe there was a time when anyone needed to catch a flight. Even the ferries to and from the mainland haven’t left port in weeks. Perhaps it’s a strange phenomenon, but then again, why would anyone want to leave Rivermouth City?
It’s been July for as long as anyone can remember.
There are a few who say that this whole setup seems a little too perfect; that there’s something fundamentally wrong with the world. That someone, or something, is pulling the strings. But then again, who would ever want to listen to a bunch of tinfoil-wearing street crazies anyway? It’s not like there’s anything beyond the city worth visiting. Some of the more philosophically ambitious thinkers – generally after a few fruity cocktails too many – have argued that there’s nothing outside of Rivermouth City at all.
But, of course, the tourists have to come from somewhere. This argument is reluctantly accepted, shortly before the would-be philosophers pass out and their apologetic friends have to pay the bills.
Tourists are a common enough sight in Rivermouth City that nobody really pays them any mind. They come by boat or by plane to see the sights, buy some souvenirs, sunbathe on the beach. But Rivermouth City is about to have some very unusual visitors. Visitors that will most definitely leave their mark on the city – in every sense of the word.
And you know what they say: you’ll love visiting so much, you’ll never want to leave...
The Rivermouth City Tourism Board hopes that you

Hello again, and welcome to Giants of the Earth! This is intended to be a crossover RP with a twist: it’s intended for characters such as giant robots and kaiju, which might not be allowed in a "normal" RP because of their relative size and strength. As one might imagine, power restrictions and levels are a bit looser here, since characters will be on a more even footing. That said, the standard RP rules apply – no godmodding, etc. Seriously, most of you have probably taken part in at least one other RP by now; this kind of stuff should be old hat. Onto the good stuff!
The majority of the action will take place in and around Rivermouth City, a canvas for your character to leave their mark on... whether for better or for worse.
The city sprawls over a large tropical island (approximately 15 miles long or so) located just off the mainland of an unspecified continent. For the most part it's a thriving, affluent city, boasting a population of about 1.5 million people. In terms of technology and aesthetics it's slightly ahead of most real-life cities, but things like urban decay and low-income regions also exist. Pictures of Cyberjaya
◊, Yeosu Expo
◊, or this piece of artwork
◊ might help you find a good reference point to write from. The island is ringed by beaches on almost all sides, most of which are given over to various luxury resorts and overpriced tourist attractions.
The city is connected by a network of elevated trains. Not only do they provide high-speed and affordable transit from place to place, but they also make perfect handheld weapons if you’re an amoral kind of fighter and need to smack a monster around in a jiffy.
The city can be divided into a few smaller districts, which have varying geography and environments. Just like real cities, these aren't hard and fast classifications; urban sprawl and infill have taken their toll, meaning that the boundaries aren't particularly clear cut and tend to bleed into one another. Feel free to improvise or make up details as we explore (and inevitably destroy) Rivermouth, just so long as it's fairly reasonable.
Here’s a quick map
◊ of the place, just to help you get your bearings.
To the NORTH is the city's chief manufacturing district. Although small – seeing as how the city mostly thrives off of the tourist trade – it's still got its fair share of petroleum tankers, flammable industrial byproducts, and other things that like to go boom if something upsets them. Notably, it boasts the largest and busiest harbor on the island, which sprawls over the “delta” that divides the three largest islands. It's also surrounded by the cheaper, low-end housing districts of the city.
The CENTER of Rivermouth is the city's main commerce and financial district. This is probably the largest sector and the most impressive, consisting almost entirely of glassy skyscrapers, office high-rises, and other expensive buildings that would smash so impressively if a giant monster decided to wreck up the place.
To the SOUTH is Rivermouth's main entertainment and tourist districts. Not only does this encompass beaches, boardwalks, and even a decently-sized theme park, but it also hosts attractions like theaters and cinemas. The largest and most densely packed beaches are also located here.
Throughout all of this there are buildings one would expect in a densely packed metropolis like Manhattan or Tokyo: apartment buildings, places of business, condominiums, restaurants, and emergency services like hospitals and firehouses.
Off the coast there are several smaller islands, connected in a loose archipelago. The waters here are shallow enough for many giant characters to simply walk from island to island with little effort. The largest island, known as Foxtail Island, boasts a small tourist-trap town on its easternmost shore, but that’s about it. The rest are wild places, mostly jungles and swamps, which have remained largely untouched by humans.
At least once a day, Rivermouth City is menaced by a wave of opponents: hostile, destructive giants from some other world, intent on razing the city to the ground. These can be characters from pre-existing franchises or original characters.
If you’re familiar with my preferred R Ping methods, you'll probably be unsurprised to learn that for the most part I intend to turn the reins of these beasts over to you, the players! Just PM me with an idea, a brief description of its powers or abilities, and then I'll give you the go-ahead, or put you in queue of other players. It’s up to you whether or not your character will stand against or with the invaders.
It won't be all fighting though. There will be periods of downtime in between attacks, where characters can explore Rivermouth City and its neighboring islands, interact with inhabitants, and maybe try to clean up the many, many messes that will inevitably occur. While they're at it, they may even be able to discover what's really going on beneath the surface, and how everything ties together...
Giant characters, particularly giant robots and the like, sometimes require a supporting cast to keep them up and running. If your character is formed out of multiple parts, such as a giant mecha and its pilot(s), put their "main" component- aka the one they'd use for fights -first, followed by separate profiles of its pilots or components (for instance, you’d list the mecha first, then the abilities and biographies of its pilots.) Just follow this handy guide, and repeat as necessary!
Scale and size is one of the trickier things to balance out in an RP like this. As discussed in other threads, the characters you choose should ideally be "building-smasher" level characters as opposed to "city-smashers." There are a multitude of charts out there comparing various giant characters to one another; ideally your character should be no bigger than 50 meters or so. Larger characters can be re-sized to fit this limitation. Keep in mind that smaller characters might have advantages over bigger ones, depending on the situation.
Note also that enemy characters and GM-controlled enemies may be exempt from this rule, necessitating a team-up... for better or for worse.
Signups are currently CLOSED.
