So we have one thread for discussing terrorists of various stripes
and another on the ethics of law enforcement
. So why not cover crimes that are less specific? Like what an (failed) bank robbery that recently occurred or that recent manhunt in New York?
It probably goes without saying, but anything advocating crimes will get thumped, and "how to" posts suggesting how criminals could be smarter run the same risk.

If I had to guess it's to create realistic bullet-holes in various surfaces or something like that.
Having said that, I would point to John Wick's director declaring that they have no "real" guns or any use for real guns on-set.
If the John Wick films don't need any real firearms, then...

I got a rock for Halloween.
x8 Real guns can fire blanks, and there's an argument to be made that the realistic weight, noise, and action of the gun is beneficial for the actor. Whether that is outweighed by safety concerns is the question.
An Italian restaurant was firebombed with a molotov in Montreal.
The only thing the suspect didn't count on was that the next door neighbor was a local Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (Basically the firefighting service of Montreal) station. The firefighters quickly put the fire out.

Brady violations are routine in America; one study (don't have the source offhand) said something like 10% of cases checked had one. Judges hate them and nearly always dismiss or overturn a case if one's discovered, but that's a big "if" because...well, how is the defense going to find out if nobody talks? (Also, a lot of the time the evidence is concealed to coerce a guilty plea, and appealing a guilty plea is also structurally difficult.)
IGN reports that 14 have been arrested at San Diego Comic Con in a Human Trafficking sting operation.

The thing with that is, in real life, how can you definitively say someone cannot be rehabilitated? At the very least, a lot of people are written off way too soon.
We actually have a more distinct thread for that

Police in Japan are calling on the public to assist in providing info (if possible) on a missing French woman who went to Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture.
Her brother says that she's likely kidnapped and killed. I heard the UN had to intervene to ask Japan to provide details that they can disclose.
Why is the Japanese government not taking it seriously???
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."The UN is asking that same question.
@Missing woman: Is it the job of the Japanese government to search for her? I don't know who is responsible for missing persons cases in Japan.
@Serial dog killer: I must have spent too much time reading up on serial killers, as I am getting a deja vu feeling after reading all that. Still, oy...
