The PRC's current economic model is, legitimately, quite a bit different from what we typically associate with Communism, including Marxist-Leninist regimes like The Soviet Union.
The claim that "the modern PRC is not Communist" is not a No True Scotsman argument like you sometimes see with other regimes.
I do think the answer to the question "Is the PRC Communist?" is a bit more complex than a simple "Yes or No" but the short answer is definitely no.
After Mao's death a guy named Deng took over. Basically, he believed that rigid and dogmatic adherence to Communist policies like the Soviets were doing was harming the PRC and even a threat to the CCP's hold on China. So he wanted to go for a more pragmatic approach.
So he began to reapply certain capitalist concepts into the economy (IIRC the term they use is "Market Socialism"). The end result is a highly pragmatic/grifting form of "Communism" wherein markets can engage in capitalist-like practices but heavily intertwined with the government. In addition this form of "Communism" is designed to coexist and compete with Capitalist markets globally.
It's not a complete overturning of the old system, however: They're still authoritarian state atheists with quite a bit of control over the economy, which are definitely policies from their Communist origins. However, they aren't unique to Communism nor what necessarily defines it, and they've clearly drifted quite a bit from Communism.

Leviticus 19:34I think China's economic model can be classified as Corporatist, which is the economic system of Fascist states (though not all Corporatists are Fascists).
I would say a big difference between The PRC and Fascists (or at least Nazis) is that Fascists tend to be more Autarkic, whereas The PRC is not. Though that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't Fascists.

Leviticus 19:34An investigation's conducted in the Beijing half marathon after videos showed two Kenyans and one Ethiopian runner allowed a Chinese runner to win.
The four athletes, who had run together for the whole race, then ran side by side to the finish line, before the three Africans dropped back to let He cross the tape first.
Mnangat told BBC Sport that they were running as pacemakers for He, who is the Chinese national champion in the full marathon distance. “I was not there to compete,” Mnangat said. “It was not a competitive race for me.”
Immediately after the race the Kenyan initially said he allowed He to win “because he is my friend”. “He comes to Kenya and I was [pacing for him] in the Wuxi Marathon, so he is my friend, OK,” Mnangat told the South China Morning Post.
Mnangat said the three African runners, as well as a fourth who did not finish the race, were hired to pace He to a Chinese half marathon record.
“I don’t know why they put my name on my bib/chest number instead of labelling it as a pacemaker,” Mnangat told the BBC. “My job was to set the pace and help the guy win but unfortunately, he did not achieve the target, which was to break the national record.”

? While I caught "My family members are also interested in China, and some of them are learning Chinese", where was it mentioned Putin specifying his daughters?
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c2lekp48n78o
BBC news article a few hour ago now "explcitly" mention that Putin says his family is learning Mandarin with Laura Bicker talking about his children.

I mean he is right in that they don’t follow a communist economic model anymore. But their government is still shit.
Disgusted, but not surprised
