"Hail Hydrant" (rofl), DM and Penfold head to America and got mixed up in Jeopardy's battles against an evil society. I wish the Red Fox thing had been better developed before the twist reveal, and I felt a bit sorry for Penfold after he uses Jeopardy's infiltration tactic to bag DM the trophies at the end.

We have a Latin American dub now, and it's a thing of beauty. Count Duckula even got the same voice actor his solo series version got back in 1990, and he sounds as well as ever.

A note of interest in that Elephant Flu episode was when Penfold was recounting his childhood to DM...man was that dark. He was rejected and abandoned by both his parents AND the circus, and he's sort of in denial about it because he had so much fun along the way.

"The Duckula Show"

Pretty nuts. The old "lock a bunch of monkeys in a room together" cliche for the writers I see. I got some pretty good Batman Returns vibes with the Count using a Duck mobile that like they took it right out of that film. Count's danger car looked spiffy. Liked that the Baron and Jeopardy were appalled at the lines they were given, I especially liked that Duckula actually 'ships himself with Jeopardy (and it even inspired me to write a short Jeopardy/Duckla fic on FF.net)

Caught both parts of the finale.

Second part was weaker than the first, I did'nt even see the twist with the teleporter coming back as a plot point later. I wish Moth and a few of the other Danger Agents had been involved in the final fight, even if they were captured in Mouse Fall, they were eventually freed in the same episode.

It reminded me a bit of the first season finale of Kids Next Door actually, what with the father of an antagonist dealing the heroes a major blow, and he had a shadow thing going (which becomes a crucial reason Princess blows her stack at the end, as Crumhorn coming out of them ensured nobody paid attention to her)

Some of the continuity from earlier episodes was good too, like bringing back Duckula's sidekick and the Duck Mobile from "The Duckula Show". Little touches like that, and referencing some past episodes when Penfold was trying to jog DM's memory.

Overall, a bit of an "eh" finale with a great first act. Looking forward to series two whenever that is

Honestly, I thought part 2 was going to be as dark or intense as a Gravity Falls finale, but apparently my standards were a bit too high with this. Not as good as part 1, but it's not entirely awful either. So I find part 2 to be okay.

I was however expecting Penfold to try to get DM to regain his memories throughout the majority of the episode (having the episode focus more on the relationship between DM and Penfold and the strong bond they shared) but no matter how hard he tried, DM can't seem to remember. When Penfold is at his lowest after trying everything to get DM to remember who he is, DM decided to be the person Penfold see him as, not only for the world's sake but if it's to make Penfold happy. Then DM and Penfold have a showdown against Crumhorn and it seems that DM is handling fine until Crumhorn beatens him to the point where DM loses his confidence. It was only Crumhorn attempting to kill Penfold to spite him again does DM slowly regain his memories and his confidence, and managed to beat Crumhorn with the help of the other agents and, shockingly Dawn who had enough of both being neglected by her father for too long and being the bad guy that she decided to seek redemption. After the showdown, Penfold and Squawks decided to help DM fully regain the rest of his memories ( Stan Pines style, you'd have to watch the series finale of Gravity Falls to know what I mean) while Colonel K asks how DM managed to survive the blast in part one with Squawks telling him that at the last second she had used a teleportation device on DM to save his life... and to ensure that Penfold doesn't become an emotional wreck if DM really does die.

[up]That would have been infinitely more preferable..perhaps you could write an alternative version of that story on FF.net? I'd read it.

Just felt weird not to have the Danger Agents all assembled in part two, and it was left to just Col.K, Sqawk, and Penfold, and the Professor did'nt even bother with an invention.

I did like that it was Last Week Tonight's John Oliver voicing Crumhorn,

Apparently some information was up temporarily on writer Mark Oswin's profile over on the litteracy agency website "rochelle stevens and col" seemingly confirming that there's going to be a Count Duckula spin-off series in addition to a second season of Danger Mouse. The information was pulled later in the afternoon.

The second season is now up and running.

Some sound episodes so far, DM took over Col. K's job but the episode quickly turned into something about Greenback pilfering all the chips/fries in Britain:lol:

Then Penfold got caught up in an alien pyramid scheme involving a magic staff

Squawlencluck and mad scientist monkey Professor Brunel switched minds, DM could'nt tell which was which until Squawk told him he sucked. This had a very minor but sweet moment between Squawk and Penfold too when she told him "he" had saved the day (when it was DM in Penfold's body doing the hard work, and Sqauwk was AWARE of that, but chose to compliment the actual Penfold, who was in DM's body, anyway), I 'ship Sqauwkencluck and Penfold so that was fun.

"Lost Tempers In Space" was alright...probably most notable for the return of that friendly spider creature (who swiftly assumed the role of Shipper on Deck for DM and Jeopardy). I was confused at Brunell helping Penfold and Sqauwkencluck though, especially after his brain-switch with the Professor earlier in the week.

Oh, and Sqauwk hugged Penfold. Squee.

There was a thanksgiving episode recently

Poor Jeopardy, she's finally starting to open up this season and DM and Penfold are completely oblivious to her feelings towards them

DM even thought Black Friday was a super villain...and Penfold was urging the audience not to switch channels just because Jeopardy was giving a history lesson

Loocifer returned yesterday, gradually transforming everyone associated with DM's movie into toilets. I liked that they poked fun at gender bending male roles for the sake of diversity by casting a female Penfold (it also pokes fun at the rumors we were going to get a female Penfold when the new series was announced)

And Penfold has an official girlfriend, Scarlett Johamster. Looks like this relationship will be explored further, as there's another episode coming up this week involving her, with Squawk and DM giving Penfold dating advise.

I'm starting to think the show's writers are taking notice of the Squawkencluck/Penfold fanbase, this season alone she's teased him, hugged him, he's made her laugh, and yesterday she was being a real pal to him and telling him how to handle a woman on a date. She butted heads with DM over his insistence Penfold do macho heroics to impress Scarlett, which backfired. Scarlett frustrating Penfold at the end with her new found desire to do more heroics was the ironic icing on the cake. I wonder if that really is it for them?

Friday's episode was probably my favorite episode of the season so far.

Penfold was incredibly competent, and that competency was complimented even by DM at the end. Also liked that Squawkencluck was willing to believe their story about time being edited and help him out, and even agreed that what Penfold said was the perfect way to describe what was going on. DM's revenge on Jeopardy for arresting him in all of the aborted timelines was great too.

The best gags were trying to avoid smacking Danger Moth with the Mark III and incorporating the title sequence into the episode

The time travel episodes get so convuluted not even Penfold can stand them...nice job breaking the timeline and ruining Derek's wedding DM!

So in the future, DM and Penfold's descendants will marry...great, I won't be hearing the end of this on FF.net for weeks.

John Oliver is such a coup for this show as Crumhorn, and I love that they redeemed Ian the Danger Fan a bit...don't know how long that'll stick, but at least he and DM are on good terms right now, and Penfold got annoyed at it and walked off.

Two more episodes to go

Good to see Nero in the spotlight again...hell there's actually been very little of the Baron for the last few weeks too so it's nice to see them all overall. Liked that the narrator took issue with the "message" of the episode (betraying others isn't always a bad thing)

Unless we get first run premieres on Saturday Mash-Up (which starts tomorrow), tonight's half hour special on CBBC is the last new episode for a while

"Dark Side of the Mouse" has aired, and I found it ok-ish. Not quite as intense as "Mouse Fall/Mouse Rise" though

Penfold understood completely that the Chief was just trying to spare him embarrassment in his efforts to prevent the last of his humiliating videos getting out (with the Penfold sock puppet), I also think that's the first time we've seen Megahurtz all season.

There actually wasn't as many villains in DM's team as I thought there was going to be actually...not even Duckula showed up.

While the mind-wave was eventually halted, we never got to see Squawkencluck, the Colonel or the Danger Agents after they were brainwashed, kind of wish we did, that felt like a downer that potentially the last we saw of everyone this series was them all gunning for Danger Mouse.

So we end the run on a cliffhanger with an exiled Crumhorn conquering that planet DM and Jeopardy were stranded on earlier in the season (Nice bit of continuity) and making preparations to assemble an army to attack Earth.

If that was the end of series two, a good, if slightly ominous way to go out.

Also, speaking of "Dark Side of the Mouse", the headcanon I had with Crumhorn not wanting to spend any time with Dawn as mentioned in my "The Mouse with No Name" fanfic is somewhat confirmed.

The third season has been on for about a week now.

So far:

-A new Nolan-esque Batman character called Night Knight, who takes control of Big Ben and subjects the planet to perpetual nighttime (yes, apparently Big Ben can control all time zones in the world and prevent the sun from coming up), pretty dark episode with Squawk suffocating and DM thinking Penfold was dead

-Danger Mouse is subjected to empathy gas when he forgets Penfold's birthday, almost helping Baron Greenback conquer the world because he felt sorry for him. Episodes ends depressingly when DM again forgets Penfold's birthday.

-DM strikes up a friendship with the mighty God Zeus, and the stakes surprisingly grow in scale despite the seemingly zany comedy premise of a fraternity bond between the two, culminating in a clash of the titans and Zeus nearly destroying London

-An episode involving an army of robot cowboy Penfolds who run amok after Squawk abuses them too much when they fail to prove their worth against DM's wits. Also the episode where Squawk admits she'd like to kiss Penfold but passes on the opportunity when Penfold almost reciprocates. Ha. No fooling anyone any longer Professor.

Which bring me back to the birthday episode...why was Squawk having a party in her lab the same day as Penfold's big day hmmmmmmmm?
