Giant Crossover RP — interest check

First of all, I confess that the name is misleading; the crossover itself isn't giant but the participants would be. More specifically, I've been wondering if people would be interested in an RP tailored toward giant characters such as Godzilla, Gundam suits, the Iron Giant — characters that probably wouldn't be allowed in other R Ps due to their size and relative power level.

Anyway, this idea has been knocking around in my head for a while, and I think it'd be fun to try and put it into practice. Any thoughts, questions, concerns?

Well, do they have to be big or do they only have to be super mega over powered?

Cause Superman ain't big.

Generally, giant characters have some weaknesses (even if it's just "something of similar size and mass can beat it up"), whereas Supes is more or less unkillable unless you've got kryptonite, which someone from another reality is unlikely to possess.

I was thinking it would be kind of like Pacific Rim, but as a crossover.

I'm obligated to show interest in anything with giant robots.

After thinking it over, I don't think Superman would work in the context of the RP. Sorry to disappoint you.

This is kind of what provided the inspiration for the RP, if this helps anyone. I was kind of thinking that anything smaller than Gipsy Danger would work, and that the sizes could be fudged a little bit for balance and scale reasons.

Hmmm... I think I've got a few mecha ideas I'd like to try.

Although they're very much on the hard end of the Real Robot Genre spectrum, so probably not suitable at all.

EDIT: Although doing the scale conversion on the model I have puts them around the 20m tall mark, which might be too small.

I'd be interested in playing as either Gurren Lagann or Megas XLR, though they'd probably have to be toned down since their powers are "anything" and "everything", respectively.

If I had that kind of power, I'd have dropped a meteor on your house ages ago~

Yeah, power levels would be a bit more flexible in this RP.

Also I was thinking that through the power of nebulous crossover magic, all of the characters would be either scaled up or scaled down to a reasonable height of 40-50 metres or so.

Hmm. Interested in joining as Koji Kabuto/Mazinger Zeta. Most classic Super Robot and my personal introduction to Anime.

@Locoman: I don't know about the scale up/down thing... I think there'd be something cool about a potential scenario where, say, Bulkhead can get on the shoulder of Daimos to provide extra firepower and Fastball Special possibilities against Shadow Red and his Gourai... wink

Also, color me somewhat-interested. smile Though I'm guessing the 00 Qan[T] is severely overpowered even for this, huh? tongue

Super Robots War-style then?

The scale-up/scale-down thing is more of a rough balance idea than a hard-and-fast rule, although I will say that Bulkhead probably would get stepped on by most of the enemies in this game. tongue

Well, it seems like there's enough interest in this, so I'll probably post a proper signup today or tomorrow.

Well I guess that's one way around a source material's wilful abuse of Your Size May Vary.

Think of it this way: could they conceivably operate in a place like Manhattan without inadvertently crushing half of the city in one footstep?

Also working on the main signup post now. Should be up soon.

Hrm... given how much property damage Evangelion involves even when the animators are being sane with the sizes that's probably off the table.

Just have whatever godlike entities are toying with them stick them at (approximately) the same size. Preferably something street-smashing, but not city-smashing. Their reactions would be amusing. wink

While a lot of robots get scaled down, mine will probably be scaled up. tongue

Here ya go; feel free to muck around with scale to your heart's content.

Also a reminder that you can play non-robot characters like Godzilla or Gamera, if that's more your thing.
