So we have one Titans series that's too lighthearted, one that takes itself to seriously, one that is also pretty serious but not Grimmdark (I'm counting young justice), and one that's more lighthearted but still has serious moments
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. This was way better than I thought. It might be the biggest improvement from a TV series into a movie I've ever seen! In the show, the characters IMHO are just mean and selfish. They really were a lot nicer in this movie. I really do wish they put this much effort into the show. I'm sorry, I do sincerely hate it.
So... I finally just caught Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.
I missed the first half hour...but I kinda liked it. A little direction and it's actually easy to enjoy this. I always felt the actual series leaned a little bit too hard on silliness, even when it actually got a laugh out of me. I admit that mostly stemmed from being a little annoyed at how different it was from the old series too.
Funny how that works out.
One Strip! One Strip!Reposted from the Anti-Necromancy thread:
Things that could be nice: The ethnic Super Friends appearing in a Teen Titans Go! episode and the only one that speaks is Samurai, but everything is in Japanese and Starfire needs to translate it all.
If there's a book you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. Toni Morrison
You mean a massive axe to grind against one version of the show by insecure writers? Turtles Forever will always stand out to me a massive example of Character Shilling, and I can easily see why it turned a lot of people (Like Phelous) off to 03 Turtles.

Turtles Forever was a bit too mean to the 1980s characters, though. There were a lot of undeserved jokes and Character Exaggeration in order to make them look sillier than they were. The 2012 crossovers are more truthful.
I expect this crossover to be like Turtles Forever, except reversed in that the newer incarnations are the butt of the joke. Basically, like the PPG and YJ crossovers. There's only so much Take That Us humor you can handle.

So I watched the trailer.
Not bad. I mean, it's like the shows blend together far better than you'd expect.
Then again, 2003 TT could be pretty damned silly at times. It's very easy to forget that because Go just jammed it's thumb on that silly button permanently.
One Strip! One Strip!Except not really, since in the end it presented the original Mirage Turtles as the most badass and most important versions of the TMNT, not the 03 or 80s animated Turtles. The whole point was that without the Mirage Turtles, the TMNT multiverse would not exist.
Honestly, i sometimes wonder if the people that think that Turtles Forever shills the 03 Turtles actually watched it.
And i love the 80s animated series, but objectively speaking Ch'rell was the most menacing Shredder in that crossover.
They show up for five minutes and they don’t do anything except almost die. At least when the 2012 series had their crossovers, it was a plot point 80’s Leo was a far more confident leader than 2012 Leo and that led to him having to look at his own methods. It was Character Shilling of the worst kind, and there was no nuance to it.
This seems to be setting up “They’re more serious but we’re still on TV! Suck it nerds!” Which...fine I guess. I don’t suppose both will run into the 2018 Titans, and determine those guys are really the worst.

That's certainly not true, you should watch the film again.
They actually put up a good fight against the powered up Ch'rell, who was mopping the floor with the other two sets of Turtles.
And i think people forget the 80s cartoon was indeed more humorous than the original Mirage Turtles and the 03 Turtles. Though even then, the Mirage Turtles were kinda cool with the 80s toons Turtles, complimenting their belt buckles(Something 03 Turtles originally made fun off).
I mean it was an 80’s-90’s cartoon, it was never that good.
TMNT, Transformers, He-Man, She-Ra, all modern productions & remakes are generally better than those shows from an animation to story standpoint.
Don’t let nostalgia blind ya, cartoons back then were crap for the most part.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
And yet 9 times out of 10 the remakes never do as well. Turtles and Transformers have been the exceptions.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty to make fun of (which again, 2012 Turtles did). But if all you’re gonna say about the old series is “the old series sucked and you sucked for liking it”, you shouldn’t be surprised when people go “No, you suck” and don’t support you.
Besides, Go is actually in a fairly decent point here, coming off a fairly critical lauded movie and they’re no longer the most despised incarnation of the franchise by a mile.

Don’t get personal.
Go isn’t the internet punching bag it was a few years ago because yeah, even some of the more ardent people against the series alleged to enjoy the movie, it’s not airing as much, and yeah, people were not exactly 100% on board with Titans (2018), with the audience decidedly mixed.
Also, DC Universe may not even be a thing in a year, but that’s due to corporate restructuring at WB, and the idea that they may launch a larger, more general on demand service to compete more directly with Disney+.

Its not a punching bag because why beat the dead horse?
At some point ya have to move on after everything's been said besides Go poisoning CN is punishment enough.
While Titans has gotten generally more positive reception as the show went on.
