Hello. I see there's No Such Thing As Notability, but is it acceptable to create a page for a novel I just published, or would that be a jackass thing to do? I'm asking about whether it's considered socially OK, not just within the site's rules.

Stick to the factual stuff and it is OK. Just don't touch the subjective stuff (YMMV mostly).

Someone has to create the works page, so go for it. Just make sure it has enough examples for a page, and the wiki magic will go to work.

Be careful what you wish for, 'cause you might just get it all...

Take a look at How to Create a Work's Page for more detail on work pages in general.

Also remember to (other than avoiding YMMV items) treat the page as if you were any other troper. So no first person, no getting possessive. See The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours.

Why is it problematic to add YMMV tropes? Specifically, which YMMV tropes are likely to be problematic, and which are unlikely to be?

You shouldn't add tropes about audience reception to a page for your own book because you are not part of the audience. It's not about specific ones being problems.

What exactly counts as YMMV sub-pages?

The YMMV namespace — example: YMMV/YourWorkHere. That's where examples of Subjective Tropes and Audience Reactions go. It also includes related namespaces like Awesome, Music, Funny, Tear Jerker, Fridge, etc.
