Well he apparently is a fan of Final Fantasy, as far as I know he just bashed Lightning, which I can understand.

He's very definitely not a fan of the XIII series, given Lightning Returns is the first game he willfully stopped playing (vs simply a one off he opted not to continue on or an Aborted Arc like Skyrim).

I think he's salty about a lot of the recent stuff, but I think he was hopeful about XV

From few videos I've seen, he seems to be the "I'm loud and 'funny' and since you are here to watch me rather than the game let me talk over the game and not really focus on it" type of let's player <_< Maybe thats wrong impression, but I really have problem with let's players who rather than showcasing the game and bringing their personality to it seem to just make it about themselves rather than the games.

...Huh, I'm getting deja vu for some reason

Yeah, he played the Platinum demo (the one with the Carbuncle) and apparently loved it.

The thing is once you hit a certain size people are watching for the youtuber and their personality over the game itself. So it makes sense to focus on your personality over the gameplay.

Also what you watch would mix things up a lot, Fan Friday stuff or multiplayer stuff tends to be personality focused, while RP Gs and such are more about showing his way of playing that game.

About half his fans love to attempt to trigger him / see him suffer too via Fan Friday Furi and Katawa Shoujo were quite successful.

I saw his tweets on Furi, but haven't watched the actual video.

Truth be told I'm way behind on Jesse vids

Jesse is actually on the lower end of obnoxiousness if you ask me. That prize goes to Markiplier and Pewdiepie. Along with the a.gario, s.literio, d.empio guys....

Also, might be wrong, but I'm under the impression that he is also one of those "My opinion is a fact" type of gamer youtubers from stuff I've seen. Plus I always hate it when youtube gamer plays something they were told to play and then either hates it because everyone told them to do that too many times or continues playing even though they hate the game, so hearing that the guy does "Viewers wanted to torture me with something bad!" videos sounds annoying.

@Silas: Whether it makes sense is irrelevant to me, good let's play should be about both game and what player brings to it, if its just about the game then its basically a walkthrough, if its just about let's player then its "celebrity" ego trip/bad comedy to me.

[up] I've never really gotten a my opinion is fact vibe from him. Plus I'm willing to bet those "my viewers want to torture me" bits are pretty tongue in cheek and not to be taken seriously. He's generally good to and about his fans, or we probably wouldn't be having the conversation about Cox con they started this whole topic.

Also playing games his fans want him to play, whether he liked it or not, is basically the premise being Fan Friday.

All that said, haven't been watching his videos regularly for a while so maybe something changed, but I still listen to him in owner spots like twitter and the cox and Crendor podcast and enjoy him.

I find Jesse Cox one of those over-the-top hammy people who works best when he has a straight man to bounce himself off of (such as in his collab videos with TotalBiscuit, which are genuinely funny). This doesn't inherently make him obnoxious, assuming such a thing could be considered an objective evaluation. If that's not your taste, that's not your taste.

With that said, if you were to complain about him making mildly sexist jokes and remarks at points, I wouldn't argue. That is a definite problem he has.

Every time I've heard him do it (or at least most of the time) he at least catches himself, like during his Game Dev Tycoon playthrough where he goes "We're gonna throw parties and hit women and-WAIT NO!" What I don't like about him is how he seems to get really easily frustrated mainly because he's not paying attention. With Multiplayer Mayhem it's funny but sometimes it just seems like he missed a mechanic.

Jesse's Star Wars New Canon Book Club just released its episode on The Last Jedi.

I'm listening to it and Davis's ballistic rants are putting me into a mindset I've had more than once when discussing things on this forum. A mindset where I can't decide if they're taking things too seriously or if I'm not taking things seriously enough.

It's also reminding me of rants from the Luke Skywalker book episode, where he rants about what is basically coffee being referred to as "caf". That, in turn, is reminding me of recently listening to the first audiobook of The Thrawn Trilogy, where Luke's first scene has him enjoying an exotic drink Lando introduced him to called, and I quote, "hot chocolate".

Also, Lando Calrissian introduced Luke Skywalker to hot chocolate.

Have fun with that.

Just a funny little thing from Jesse's Twitter.

I took one of those "what character from Final Fantasy are you?" quizzes. Turns out I'm a pervert octopus. I won't dispute this. https://t.co/PcXa4N2JfQ
