> Rummage through the black bag and see what's inside it. Hopefully, you'll find a sharp object or two to defend yourself. Since I am in such a horrible state (beaten to a pulp) I'll have to do it slowly.

You look inside the Black sensible bag, you can see,

  • Surgical scalpels (six)

  • Duct tape (one roll)

  • A silver sixpence

  • One Heart (Human)

> Look for pie. Pie is great for the soul. Especially that really good raspberry pie.

You do not have a pie within your bag, although you can see a pie shop a short distance away with crowds of hungry faces playing some sort of game.

Take the silver piece and go to the pie shop to buy a raspberry pie, and try not to get involved in that game those people are playing.

Keep the scalpels in your pockets (if there is) and try to remember any available skills that you have which you can use to help you survive in this godforsaken alley (preferably decent knife throwing).

> Take the silver piece and go to the pie shop to buy a raspberry pie, and try not to get involved in that game those people are playing.

You go up to the pie shop. The menu does not have any rasberry pies, only meat pies of various flavours; Priest, Accountant, Telesales worker, Builder and so on. Your sixpence piece is enough to buy you a single pie.

The game appears to be a dice game. Those who win enough go into the pie shop by the front door. Those who become indebted are taken into a smaller side door around the side with a look of fear on their faces.

> Keep the scalpels in your pockets (if there is) and try to remember any available skills that you have which you can use to help you survive in this godforsaken alley (preferably decent knife throwing).

You put the scaples in your pockets and find neat holsters in the sleeves of your coat each one already holding a knife. You seem to be skilled in their use.

You also remember that the Good Doctor gave you a single power before you left.

(Let me add additional info if it's ok)

Action: Dialogue

Strike up a conversation with a random person or with people (people that at least look friendly, if not then people that look weak) and keep your guard up... this is a place where deceit is most likely to be common.

Ask them where you are, and keep chatting to gain important details to aid you in your current situation.

Motivation: Awareness

Knowledge is power, and the more you know, the more options are available to you. Options are important in unfamiliar places like these. They remind you that your choices aren't limited to a few decisions but they are open to a variety of alternatives. You don't want to be cornered by some guy that gives you with a "take it or leave it" scenario.

Attitude: Vigilant

Of course, keep in mind that they may be charlatans trying to earn your trust. Above all, remain cautious, but be aggressive and willing to take necessary risks.

If all goes to hell and they're suspicious, go for your knife, but draw it only when you know there's a fight...

You move to strike up a conversation with one of the gamblers. They are huddled around a fairly simple game that seems to resemble craps. Their cheeks are hollow and their eyes sunken. All of them seem to be at least minimally armed, but they aren't looking obviously hostile.

They invite you in to their game, but you politely suggest that you will watch for now.

You can see the distinctive signs of serious malnutrition amongst them.

Probing further it seems that there is nothing accessible beyond the city. There are no farms and no food comes in.

The only way to get food is to enslave yourself to one of the hated and feared Masters or to compete for the few scraps that are available. The meat from the gladiatorial arenas or games like these.

You keep your precious sixpence clutched tight out of sight.

You quickly slip away from the group and meld back into the traffic of the street.

The Estate is not hard to miss. The vast gothic architecture looms above the entire city.

As you draw close, you can see a pair of guards on the main gate made from seemingly random collection of sheers, razor blades, swords, knives and anything else that carries an edge.

The guards are made of razors and death, as you approach and ask your question, they advance on you threateningly, and you quickly back off.

> (Hmm, is this still considered? I kinda took time to type this) Action: "Tell me more about the Masters..."

Motivation: Interest He believes that tyranny is merely a naked form of freedom. Tyranny is the liberty of the elite, and mobocracy is the liberty of the masses. In a sense, they are both oppression, but mobocracy seems like the more popular cause. It just makes no sense to share with others that are just as selfish as themselves. No, you must capitalize on the suffering of the weak, that you may gain the advantages of the strong. Attitude: Excitement The character is excited, but tries not to show it. Insight: Dystopia You quickly deduce that the gambling business is the categorizing of two types of people. Namely: 1.) The Hunters - The ones who win get to eat the ones that are butchered. 2.) The Prey - The ones who lose get to be eaten. Hooray me! Now my character is not the slightest bit unnerved. Instead he is piqued by this ingenious social contraption. How could such a piece of art exist in the first place?! Extra Note (Character): Tainted Soul My character is a cynical bastard that often alienates others. Though he does not outright swear at others, he prefers to be alone unless he needs people's resources to suit his own purposes. Another interesting characteristic is that he hates gambling that is purely based on chance, but is perfectly willing to take Blackjack or Texas Holdem Poker as he is proficient in them (skilled in psychology and mathematical probability) through continued research and practice. He is highly introverted, and observes others at a distance. He does not communicate well, so this leads to conflict with others. (Hmm, is this still considered? I kinda took time to type this)

(I'd appreciate shorter posts so this can be more punchy if possible, also as this is a shared character, I'd rather we didn't start outright stating things that are true about them. Also this is like a text based rogue-like only actions matter. Motivations and ideals are demonstrated by actions. )

(Who are you asking about the Masters? The Guards, some of the peasants or are you consulting your own memory?)

What do you do?

> Look for another way in. And (for Skye) search memory for more information on the masters

As you search the perimeter the brick wall is topped with a razor-sharp fence, although there is plenty of evidence that people have crossed it. dark brown stains on the blades at the top, snagged fragments of clothing and so on. You spot a handful of likely spots where you could ascend the wall with only a mild risk of injury.

As for the Masters You have only ever seen the Good Doctor. A pale white female figure with six spindly arms and a porcealin face etched with stitch marks and scars, although her body is a temporary thing, changing from one day to the next as she removes and adds new organs and limbs to better suit her tasks. She considers herself a gentle soul. An artist. Her canvas is flesh and she delights in shaping it into new elaborate forms.

Sadly, she requires a muse, an inspiration. That was, until recently, you. On threat of being her next canvas, she asked you to use your imagination on her subjects. The first one being her previous muse, whose ideas had begun to grow uninspiring.

You know a little of the other Ones As far as you know they are all also Masters you have heard tales of the others, each has their own hobby, collection or artistry and their own array of powers and servants.

You do not know what they are or where they came from, but they seem to desire humans in one way or another and their agents do lurk in the mortal world, seeking out people whose talents are desired by the Masters

You have never heard of a successful escape. But then, there's always a first time.

It's a risky operation, but you have business to do. Go for it. (I also have a motivation in mind, but I'll keep to myself for now.)

(Search Memory) Also, when the Good Doctor DID tell you to find the Golden Apple from Gentleman Jack, does that mean you're to retrieve it? To STEAL it?

> It's a risky operation, but you have business to do. Go for it. (I also have a motivation in mind, but I'll keep to myself for now.)

You find the collapsed wall of a hovel against the Estates outer wall. With a hop skip and a jump (and careful movements) you are over and drop down into a small walled garden on the outskirts of the estate. Nothing but flowers grow here. They are stark, beautiful and (if the remains of people with torn up plants in their hands are any indication) extremely toxic. Apparently people here are just hungry enough to risk it.

(Search Memory) Also, when the Good Doctor DID tell you to find the Golden Apple from Gentleman Jack, does that mean you're to retrieve it? To STEAL it?

The Good Doctor asked you to retrieve the Golden Heart (not the Golden Apple). Your Master was non-specific about the details, simply that she wanted the Golden Heart and where it currently was. The implication is that stealing it would probably be the easiest course of action. However being such a gentle soul she would never advocate theft, so you may wish to phrase it differently on your return.

Be extra vigilant of your surroundings so you won't end up like the people here. Also try to search if there is any security features here, (like cameras or guards or the like) and hopefully you're not already caught... Make sure you have your scalpel ready in the worst case scenario.

(Edit: spelling and some grammar)

There is no sign of cameras, the technology here seems victorian at best, there are no guards or patrol animals nearby, but worn patches of grass seem to indicate that there is regular movement through the garden.

You have your scalpel in hand, and can see a single brass gate in the gardens wall leading closer to the main house. Beyond it you can see The Kennels, The graveyard, The glass-house and a distant conservatory

The gate does not appear to be locked.

(Hm, well, nobody else is here it seems so...)

Keep an eye on the movement on the bushes, whatever's out there is a wild animal that can leap at your throat and tear it apart. So keep your scalpel ready to slice that thing's throat. Slowly and stealthily move towards the gate, and continue to assess the situation.

You move toward the gate, nothing attacks you.

Did the good doctor indicate where the heart may be?

The Good Doctor mentioned that the Golden Heart was in the possession of the Gentleman Jack's favoured servant/slave. Who is likely located inside the heart of the Estate, probably in the deepest dungeon or the highest tower depending on mood.

And if it's not too late for an action... start transplanting scalpels with the fingers of my non dominant hand and duct tape onto the palm of the same hand and along my arms.

You have a moment and with a few expert motions you graph 5 of your scaples blades to the fingers of your left hand.

You now have a razor hand, perfectly graphed to your muscles.
