"Wait, you? Really? That's hard to imagine.", Ishizu says in response to Thor telling her he wasn't too different when he was younger. After that, she frowns.
"That only leaves me to wonder why these deities would even allow a guardian of 'evil' to exist. What is the use in giving someone authority to just go around hurting innocent people?"
—
Alt.Demo nods and gets to work on the grilled chicken. He pours the champagne while they wait.
Pseudo's about to note that he does know about that, but then Alt.Demo speaks up again.
"Oh, I ain't talking about recently, I've noticed it from the moment I got here a few months ago. That kid's definitely not feeling as well as he's making it out to be."
"I have noticed he hasn't been as lively as before when he first came back. But still, I'm not sure I'd describe Ninten as 'gloomy'.", Pseudo says.
"Then you haven't been paying enough attention.", Alt.Demo says, not hesitating for a second with his brutal honesty.
"Look, I was on the edge of despair for a while after the whole... arm thing. And I'm telling you, I can tell when someone's feeling worse than they're letting on. That kid? Anxious as fuck, and I don't think it's 'cause of me."
"... from what I can tell, something did happen to him during his three years at home, but he hasn't been willing to tell anyone.", Pseudo says.
"Well, whatever it was, it's clearly getting him bad.", Alt.Demo says as he checks on the grilled chicken.
"Few more minutes."
—
"Wooooooow! This place looks cool!", Pilly says, indeed marveling. "Is this your home?"
In the year 202X, all is devastation... Soon, any last shred of hope had by the saintliest optimist shall die and decay."Likewise, I'm having a hard time imagining you behaving like a spoiled brat," Thor replies.
He then shakes his head.
"I wish I knew, Ishizu. Perhaps they're no better than the Egyptian gods who actively chose to do nothing about Set even when he was poised to annihilate all of existence," he says. "If it's any consolation, though, I have a feeling this realm will end up becoming Mara's final resting place in due time."
-
Loki takes a sip of his champagne.
"All I know for certain is that his falling out with Claus has taken a heavy toll on him," he chimes in. "Hopefully, it won't drive him to do anything... reckless."
-
"Earth, actually. You see, back when Asgard and Jotunheim were still at war, their fighting eventually brought them here to Norway. Odin - the one who isn't a cutthroat tyrant responsible for Set regaining the power to be a massive pain in the arse - and Asgard's Einherjar met Laufey and his Frost Giant army, and, well... I'm sure either Thor or Loki have told you the whole story by now," Sylvie replies, tossing her TemPad into the air and catching it.
"We'll have to see.", Ishizu sighs.
"... I'm starting to feel famished. Do you want to go to the cafeteria to get something to eat and drink?"
—
"I'm not sure about reckless, he's been less active ever since then, and not as talkative. Part of me can't help but wonder if he would even want to help if we were to ask him.", Pseudo says.
"Don't know him well enough to answer that.", Alt.Demo adds.
—
"Huh, wow. This is the first time I've been on Earth. Sounds kinda weird if you think about it, but it's true!", Pilly says. She looks around as some wind blows in her hair.
"Feels kinda familiar. ... well, I guess the Arena and Earth feel pretty much the same. Except the wind here feels nicer. We barely ever have any in the Arena, and most of the time I'm inside the base."

"You think there may be more to this than simply his falling out with Claus?" Loki inquires, taking another sip of his champagne. "Granted, it has been a while since he last called me a 'rockstar', but then again, it's probably been a while since I last spoke with him."

She crosses her arms and looks to the side.
"To be honest, the first few days I was here I couldn't even attempt to eat due to everything that's going on. It thankfully got through to me that I'm not doing anyone a favor, least of all myself, if I didn't at least try."
She now moves to the door and opens it.
"Plus, I need to stay healthy for Mattheo.", she says, smiling a bit again.

"Oh, I meant he's been less talkative since what happened between him, Lucas and Claus. But given what our friend here noted, I can't help but wonder if Ninten really hasn't been well and is trying not to show it. Which would be worrying, it's been over a year since he came back now."

Red's eyes widen, and he 'frick's internally - Espeon can't get in the way fast enough to tank. Even if it could, a Sync Move... it's liable to just get caught up in the attack and make it a two-for-one instead of actually protecting Clef.

"As someone who's eaten in this base before, I can assure you that their food is every bit as good as what they serve in G.E.M.'s headquarters," he says. "And under different circumstances, I would have invited you to a meal on Asgard."

"Well, you're not going to learn the truth by sitting around and speculating," Loki points out, finishing his champagne and setting the glass down to await a refill. "Perhaps he might be willing to discuss things with you, were you to ask."

"The taste of the food did help with getting me to eat again.", Ishizu chuckles.
Before they can get to the cafeteria though, they'll see Locke and Iris talking.
"So that's why..."
They then notice Thor and Ishizu and turn to look.
"Ah, hello! Are you already done talking?"
—
"I can try, but I don't like my chances. If he won't tell his closest friends and uncle, why would he tell me?", Pseudo asks.
"He ain't telling me, that's for sure. I barely know the guy."
Ding!
"Ah, chicken's done."
Alt.Demo takes it out. The smell of the cooked meat reaches him though, suddenly making his pupils turn more slit and feral-looking and making his fangs more visible. He's quiet for a moment, which may be slightly unnerving to Loki considering he's used to the other, more civilized Demo.
But then he seems to snap out of it and quickly pushes the food towards Loki.
"Go eat this before I lose my self control.", he says.
—
"I guess. But if he gets angry, I'm telling him you kidnapped me to make me come here.", Pilly says, though a slight smirk reveals she's joking about that second part.
In the year 202X, all is devastation... Soon, any last shred of hope had by the saintliest optimist shall die and decay.Thor laughs along with Ishizu when they reach the cafeteria. Cue Iris and Locke halting their own conversation to greet them.
"Ishizu was beginning to get hungry," he replies. "I figured I would join her for this meal."
-
"So there's the you I've heard stories about."
With that, Loki begins eating his grilled chicken.
"Now, regarding Ninten, the least you can do is make sure he isn't at risk of falling victim to Mara's power. I think I speak for all of us when I say we'd rather avoid repeating a certain tragedy."
-
Sylvie opens a Timedoor back to the base's lab and steps through, fully expecting Pilly to follow right behind her.
"Hey, I did say I wasn't bringing you to a bloody war zone. He won't be upset that I took you to see a party."

"Ah, great! We'll come along too and after we're done eating I can talk to her too!", Iris happily says.
"You wanted to talk to me too?", Ishizu asks.
"Uh, yeah. But that can wait. Food first.", Iris laughs as she already starts flying off. Locke just shakes his head in amusement before following, along with Ishizu.
—
"... a point I hadn't considered. Perhaps telling him that will make him more eager to get it all off of his chest.", Pseudo says.
As for Alt.Demo, once the smell of the food is further away from him, he goes back to normal and grins a toothy grin.
"Nah, man. That me would've jumped to just eat that chicken and you along with it."
He then looks at something behind Loki and Pseudo.
"More guests? Didn't know it was rush hour already.", he says as the group of four enters the cafeteria.
Yes, four. Iris, Locke, Ishizu and Thor.
...
Hey, wait, isn't someone missing?
—
Pilly hops through the portal to follow her back in.
"Alright, then I'll tell him you kidnapped me to a party instead.", she giggles.
"So, what do you wanna do now?", she asks.
In the year 202X, all is devastation... Soon, any last shred of hope had by the saintliest optimist shall die and decay.Thor follows alongside the others.
"Iris can be very... energetic," he says to Ishizu. "Apologies if that ends up feeling a little overwhelming for you."
-
Loki flashes a smirk at Alt Demo.
"I assure you, he would've found me somewhat indigestible."
After taking another bite of chicken, he nods to Pseudo.
"You're welcome. With any luck, he'll be more adverse to becoming Mara's next victim than he is to discussing whatever might be troubling him."
-
After closing the Timedoor, Sylvie pockets her TemPad.
"I don't know. You hungry?"
It seems they did not take notice.
"Oh, it's alright. I have a two year old son, I'm used to that.", Ishizu chuckles.
Speaking of Iris, she immediately flies over to Alt.Demo.
"Do you have rice?", he asks excitedly. Enough so that Alt.Demo has to pause for a moment before responding.
"Yyyyyyyes... what do you want on it-"
"More rice."
"... so plain rice?"
"Yes!"
Alt.Demo just shrugs and starts reaching for a rice cooker.
"Though she does seem to be in a very energetic mood.", Ishizu adds. And, yeah, Iris does seem to be in a better mood than when they got here.
Locke simply sits down near Loki.
"What is this about Mara?"
"We're worried for Ninten. Apparently Demo here noticed that he's not been too well even before what happened with Claus. We don't want him to fall victim to her, as Loki pointed out to us."
"Oh, I see. I'm not sure how approachable he's going to be though. I don't think he's in the best of moods."
"Really? He seemed fine to me. And he seemed to have fun with Mattheo too.", Ishizu says as she approaches too.
"That's 'cause that boy is good with kids."
Ishizu looks back at Thor.
"Should we ask Ninten to come here then? Mattheo's nap time is coming up, he'd have to give him back to me soon anyway."
—
"Maybe a little. The others were also headed for the cafeteria I think, so we can catch up to them if we go."
Once that's settled, Pilly starts leading the way, but it wouldn't take very long for her to stop walking, looking ahead with a confused and wary look.
"... huh... that door wasn't open when I came back with that drink.", she notes as she looks at the door in the wall, the one that leads to the lower section of the base.

He floats back for a moment, gathering himself before sighing.

Placing his lance on his back, he lets out a deep breath as he starts to expend a massive amount of mana to slow time even further, rushing towards Azura and forming a projected muzzle...

aeiou: the secondGiven their low tone, Alice and Medicine’s discussions went unheard by the man. Porshan eyed Taye and Kana with a fair degree of suspicion. But at last his gaze weakened, and he leaned back in his seat in thought.
"There is…something, you could aid in. But it’s dangerous. Though you don’t seem to me the sort to fear easily." He shrugged, before glancing off to the side. The businessman leaned from his seat and took a hefty leatherback tome from beside the wall, slamming it on his desk with a grunt. He flipped it open and slid it around, to be read by those across the desk and pushing it to their side. "This is a ledger of the village’s finances; records of exports and imports of just about every business in town. Find what’s wrong."
Though a number of them likely leaned forwards to scan the page it was opened onto, it was Alice who spoke up first.
"Give me a few minutes."
She begins to read through the most recent transactions- wait, that's odd. She traces her finger down a specific section. The local lumber mill had... stopped making any income whatsoever? That seemed odd, especially given there was no slow drop-off that would indicate a lack of workers or resources- it simply stopped suddenly.
"The local lumber mill... Unless someone got this wrong, there's been no monetary income for the past few weeks. That can't be normal."
She holds her finger right beside the marked areas, pointing it out for anyone else to see.
“Aye.” Porshan confirmed with a solemn nod. “That lumber yard was the backbone of most of our businesses here in Ybicche for a long time. Used to be run by one of my partners, supplied me with the wood I needed to build and maintain the wagons. Some weeks ago, it stopped production entirely. Only worker who came back that day did so with an arrow in his shoulder. When we asked what happened, he said he didn’t see nothing; that he’d heard shouting from the trees, and before he knew it, the horses were spooked and running off. Just so happened that he was on one at the time. Someone shot him from behind as the horse was ridin’ off, hit him right above the lung. Boy’s damn lucky he survived.
"I raised a small party of my men, sent them into the woods to take it back. None returned. But you folk…I’ll bet you’ve seen a fight or two. Especially if you’re coming from up north with Ladwin. It’s simple: I want you to get rid of whoever, or whatever, has taken up residence where they don’t belong. Now, who took the lumber yard, why they done it, I haven’t the faintest clue. But I do know that without it, I won’t be able to repair my wagons, or make new ones. And no wagons…"
"…means no caravans. And no caravans means nobody gets out of town unless it’s on foot or with their own horse. I understand." Ladwin thought back to when they made their way down the street; he’d seen dozens upon dozens of dirty and ragged refugees, but very few mounts with them. In the panic, many had left their horses in Al-Agadd, and that was only of those wealthy enough to own a horse. And many of those owned nothing fancier than aged garrons and suboptimal rounseys, mounts that would carry them no further than twenty leagues before collapsing.
"Aye, it seems you do. Help me, or don’t. It’s your choices; that, or come up with the stygs. It’s five hundred a wagon. But you do me that favor…I’ll see what I can do. Free of charge. Now, if you got any questions, stay and ask them. I’ll answer to the best of my ability. If not, I got heaps of work left, and these are busy days in our quaint little town." He not-so-subtly dismissed the party members lacking in question, while keeping his attention available to those with inquiries, whether regarding the task he’d offered or simply related to the town as a whole. As for Ladwin, he hung back and waited to hear what the others had to say on the matter.

Ashes of Nohr
Moonrise Crypt, Courtyard (Battlefield)
Jeridan's strings found themselves entangled in the thorns that Morgan conjured, but only temporarily as he pulled them back with a huff. It seems like he isn't going to use Domain Expansion for now, which will give the group some time to crack down on him with even more intensity. Though, that shield over his forehead will be a small problem, and the red-eyed young man decided to let his allies distract Morgan for the moment as he considered what can be done to bypass it.
After taking a moment to access what to do with the wooden cover, the red-eyed young man approached EnRyuu. "Hey, EnRyuu-" The Summoner ducked under a flower sent flying his way while the red robot used his Melting Gun to destroy a few more. "Thanks for that, now do you see the wooden shield on his forehead? That's covering his weakness, but I have an idea."
"Huh? Then you better make it quick, we're in the middle of a heated battle here!" The Vehicle Machine took a few steps forward and alleviated his allies' burden by using his Melting Rifle to burn away the sea of thorns, but did not anticipate the thrown shards that quickly came afterwards. "Oh CRAP-"
Jeridan immediately stepped forward, extending both of his arms forward with red strings wrapped around his fingers before spreading his arms to quickly create a large net that's weaved tightly enough to trap the shards Morgan threw at him and EnRyuu, with them being unable to fully penetrate the net. If he had more time, he could've created a net that can block them outright.
As soon as he heard Morgan explain how the buds work, he immediately discarded them from the net by temporarily loosening it. While he's not sure if it works on Unifying Thread even though it is technically a part of his very being, the young man isn't willing to test it right now. "As I was saying," The Summoner whispered to his red robot friend with a hint of mischief in his voice. "I want you to fire either your Melting Gun or Rifle at his forehead shield, but at a lower intensity."
"Huh? Why would you want-" EnRyuu considered the idea for a moment before a grin appeared on his face. "Ah, I getcha. Just sit and watch!" With a small smirk hanging on his lips, the red Vehicle Machine ran right towards Morgan and rapidly fired his Melting Gun at the latter's face at an intentionally lowered intensity (while Jeridan kept up with him and kept the net around himself for protection), aiming to light the piece of wood on fire.
It's true that the shield is protecting Morgan's weak spot, but it's still made out of wood, making it a flammable material. Even if this doesn't do any damage to the weak point, it will still make the Demented Spirit feel very miserable. So it's either to keep it on and constantly feel fire tickling his already damaged weak point, or to take it off for a moment of relief but make himself vulnerable. If this works, it will also buy the rest of the group some time to remove the buds.
This is truly a sadistic predicament to force on your enemy. However, this version of Morgan is a little shitstain, so neither Jeridan nor EnRyuu cares.
Meanwhile, Charlian is not having the greatest time. While being outpaced by Azura is something he fully expected to happen when he closed in, the fact that she's completely dominating the pacing and approach of this battle is worrying. "Holy HEL-" The young man could neither finish his sentence nor raise his arm to defend himself before Azura punted him to the ground, her speed granting her enough momentum to temporarily overpower him in terms of strength.
Thankfully, she's using her fist rather than her weapon, something his armor is more than capable of tanking, even if it still placed a sizable dent onto his helmet. What truly concerned him is the Demented Spirit approaching Jeridan and attacking him with her weapon. "JERIDAN WATCH OUT!" The Replicator called out to his friend, hoping to alert him before it's too late.
The Summoner tried to defend against the assault and keep Azura's attention away from EnRyuu by using the net he kept around. Thanks to his efforts, the red robot is allowed to move forward and keep burning Morgan's forehead shield. Furthermore, the red string produced by Unifying Thread is not only an ability that alleviates the stress placed on him while he borrowed abilities, but also a mechanism that drastically enhances the durability and endurance of both his body and soul. As such, the red string can protect his soul from something that can harm it directly.
Unfortunately, Jeridan has not yet learned how to detach certain portions of his red strings and remove their status as a part of his soul, meaning the Vallite Naginata was still able to deal some damage as intended, even if it's bad as it should've been. The red-eyed young man felt a brief pain coursing through his body and opened his mouth to cry out in response, but he only felt himself ''freeze'.
No noise escaped him because he has no idea how to respond to it. The pain is indescribable, not in the sense that it's terribly hard to endure, but in the sense that it's completely new.
Thus, his soul responded in the only way it could to a threat. "Dirty Deeds Done-! Done Dir-!" The user struggled to audibly call the Stand out due to his brain still processing how to handle the "soul pain", but it's already unleashed the moment he started speaking its name. D4C threw out a short but fast and powerful barrage with the intent to break Azura's bones and rupture her organs while its narrowed red eyes glared at her. The Summoner has not used this Stand in a long time, both because he doesn't want to rely on its power and because he never needed its assistance. Yet, despite many months of neglect, it hasn't weakened at all thanks to Unifying Thread preserving its power.
As Corrin and Kaa repelled the secret 4th water disk, both Charlian and Jeridan stood back up, with the latter rapidly shaking his head as he wondered what the hell that extremely uncomfortable feeling even was. HyouRyuu was unable to avoid the twicefold stabs, forced to sacrifice his Freezing Gun to block one while the other pierced a section of his abdomen.
Watching the situation worsening, the Replicator immediately contacted Beruka through the mind link. Beruka, I'm sorry to ask this of you, but you need to lure Azura to the string traps so the plan can proceed. None of us are fast enough to dictate the pact of this fight or even chase her around. Joseph, keep the extra bindings ready. Emperor, keep charging that Mind Blast. We need to pull this off before Azura wears us down.
Ally Callout: Beruka, Joseph, Emperor
As the assassin lures the Demented Spirit to the best of her abilities, Jeridan stuck to protecting EnRyuu while Charlian and HyouRyuu chased after their target, keeping their distance so she's mostly focused on Beruka. As Azura approaches the string traps, the blue robot would fire a few regular freezing beams from his Freezing Rifle while his Replicator threw his Leviathan Axe, with both trying to make her dodge into the traps.

Pampín's shoulders (a parte her armor doesn't covers) got cut twice by her Vallite-powered slices, feeling an intense pain on her soul, albeit nothing that a chosen by Inti can't manage.
She notices the strings, and the attempts of everybody to lure her there. So, she does her part. She flies quickly with her, and attempts to punch her on the back of her head.
What a shame... I'm faster than you, and I didn't broke a sweat!
She attempts to lure Azura, by flying behind the strings.
Vs. Morgan
The Kid got flung over Morgan's head, falling on the ground and ragdolling a bit.
As the group got afflicted by the tiring gas, the Mad Musician hides within his hat. And then, the thorn wave hurts them, destroying the giant Pac-Man in a cloud of pixels.
As a result, buds are implanted on everybody, draining their power as they move. Ms. Thingies cast a shield around Law and the group, altough weaker than usual.
Nina asks Leonidas: If the plan of that guy fails, could you hurl me at her head, please? I'll try to take his helmet off.
Meanwhile, the Mad Musician reappears again, this time behind Morgan. He takes off his hat, and the octopus (with two tentacles less) will attempt to hold him for the others.
Three freaking ghosts!Outside Baritone Bar
The energon molotov does about nothing because the missile pods close after firing you silly goose Tayden. Not that it matters much as Vile grunts as X fucking grabs him and pulls him out of the Cybernought, which goes limp without a pilot and slumps over into a kneeling position.
"Tch, guess you are stronger than last time." Vile growls, though X might notice a dangerous glint in his sole visible eye as he makes a gesture behind his back. "I'd suggest letting me go though, unless you want us all to go to hell together of course."
What Vile means soon becomes apparent as the Cybernought comes back to life. Rather than opening fire though it starts beeping loudly.
"Self-destruct initiated, Energon Core overloading." intones a feminine mechanical voice as it starts marching towards them.

"Fiiine." Medicine grumbled, not to Porshan but the others. "We'll take the lumber yard back I suppose."
"I do have a question though. Besides that happened at the lumber yard have there been any unusual rumors or reports about bandits or attackers or the like since then?" Medicine opted to ask. "Could help us figure out what to expect, if they're sticking to just the lumber yard or also attacking elsewhere."
"That was a pointless encounter with a pointless person."DNC
Taye stepped forward and read the parts of the ledger Alice pointed out. She wondered why Porshan would make them read a ledger instead of just describing the problem, though with the suspicious gaze he gave and how he called them "unusual company", it's likely a test to see if they had well-rounded skills. In any case, she's glad to have Alice around.
So the lumber yard was most likely taken by a hostile party. Taye could make a guess as to who, considering what went down back in the castlle. While it's best not to jump to conclusions, it was extra incentive to investigate.
She gestures to Joy & Grace. "I'm agreeing with them. That place's important to the people here after all."
Admittingly, she would rather take on dangerous quests than earn money the merchant way, sorry Alice. At least arrows wouldn't be too much of a problem for her. It may not seem like it, but her outfit's leather on the outside, metal on the inside. Even her high collar had metal within to protect her neck.
"Just a small thing. How could we best get to the lumber yard?"

Red Hood, Vi, and Bucky are all forced to back off, lest they find themselves pulped by Morgan's unexpected retaliatory attack.
"And he magically pulls something out of his obnoxious ass at the last second. Big surprise."
"The little fucker's gotta run out of tricks soon."
"That piece of wood's not gonna protect him for long."
Swapping his rifle out for the shotgun, Bucky quickly retrieves his shield to defend himself from the thorns as he charges towards Morgan. After squeezing off a few shots at the wood shield currently obstructing the half-pint bastard's horns, he glances at Captain America.
"Hey, Steve? What do you say we introduce him to Unyielding Justice?"
Vi begins punching any thorns coming her way aside, running alongside Red Hood as he cuts them in half with the Soultaker katana.
"If you've got a plan to finally kill this asshole, Law, do it!"
"Add this to the list of reasons I'm splattering Kenjaku once I get my hands on him," Jason growls under his breath, tossing a grenade at Morgan's head.
"So, you used to be somewhat arrogant and unbearable before changing for the better? It looks like we have something in common, Lady Ishizu."
Thor rises to his feet as well.
"Assuming Mara is the culprit behind this whole ordeal, she's the Divine Guardian of Evil. I wouldn't put it past her to do something like this out of sheer boredom."

"A wise decision. Anyway, I'll have a glass of your finest champagne and some grilled chicken," Loki says.
He quickly notices Pseudo's confused reaction to Alt Demo's description of Ninten.
"You haven't noticed? I wasn't there to witness it, but from what Thor told me, the confrontation with Claus and Lucas on the day we rescued Ishizu has been weighing rather heavily on Ninten."

Once Pilly has gone through the Timedoor, she'll find Sylvie waving to her near the old Norse village in Tonsberg, Norway where Odin and the forces of Asgard had defeated King Laufey and his horde of Frost Giants when their war had brought them to Midgard. In the distance, the village's residents can be heard celebrating their hard-earned victory with the Asgardian warriors.
"Feel free to marvel at the site of Asgardian history now," she remarks.
