"It would seem a vile force of darkness has arrived." she announces (mostly) to herself as she stands at the perimeter of the mall dark zone. Harvey the hormagaunt is at her side as she attempts to feel out the zone with her powers to see if she can sense anything sus from here.

Untold Loss

Heller's eye twitched and his grip on Jerrod's shoulder tightening ever so slightly as Aura worked his magic and everything went... well.

He sighs, relaxing as everyone leaves the shuttle until it was him and Artemis left.

"She screams so cutely" Aliez cooed inside his head, making him roll his eyes. "Watch the vomit puddle, Arty." He warned, about to Soru his way out, until he heard her interesting comment. He raised an eyebrow in question. "I mean... with someone like you," He wouldn't call her 'something' because she's obviously a living being, despite her uniqueness. "It should be obvious why you can't vomit. That's a blessing right there that I almost thought you got experience with this type of rides." He chuckles. "Helluva screams, too. Heh." He teased before teleporting out before she can respond and coincidentally ending near the Director and her assurances that they won't get blasted to kingdom come.

And her little interaction with the pilot.

Whether Popillion felt the sudden... pressure that existed for a second directed at her, it didn't matter as Heller suddenly appeared beside the pilot and stopped him from his tracks before he could get far with an assuring grab on his shoulder. "Hey. You're not planning on just walking through a swamp, are you? Gimme a moment here and relax, aight?" He finished with a wink and a smile before the Mercenary waves to Jerrod.

"Hey, J! Mind giving this guy a quick portal back to where we came from? I'll owe you one, buddy. Please?" He gave the bandanged man a wry grin, gesturing to the pilot.

"Hm. You always have a soft spot for people who find themselves way over their heads..." Aliez remarked. "Especially the ordinary ones."

She got a mental shrug from him. He couldn't help it. He was once an 'ordinary' back then. He knew what the Pilot feels like even without direct Observation.

Then the Director had her outburst. Heller turned back to her, admittedly feeling a bit... guilty. He could've told more about his abilities, maybe during the ride, but the chance that their Adversary could read the minds of the others made him hesitant.

So sue him if he was a bit paranoid.

He shook his head, dispelling the thoughts and took a step forward. Plans coming to his head as he examined his environment with Observation and his senses and even the direction of the defense systems.

Plans came to him, with the help of his partner. All during Popillion's anger and he had something a few seconds later after the Director went quiet.

Maybe not a good plan, but it ain't bad.

"I can move on air fast. Run on air 'really' fast, that I'm teleporting. I don't know if those cannons can track a human target but if it does, I can stay above the treeline. If that doesn't work..." He points at Aura. "I think we have a a bright enough distraction that they can track, no matter their sensors. No offense, Aura." He added.

He then walks to Jerrod and pats him on the back. "I'll bring Jerrod with me and as soon as we reach a good enough spot, he'll open a portal here and you can all follow and we can still make it." He suddenly points at Artems if she gets out of their downed transpot. "Or maybe she can make something that can... I dunno. Allow me to carry you all? Something to allow you to follow me?" He turns to Artems, giving her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I'm not exactly sure how your ability works but... eh." He shrugs.

He turns back to the Director, crossing his arms over his chest. "Honestly, Jerrod and I going ahead first is the best I can think of. I don't know much about Ana... but I think she's a melodramatic lady, waiting for us from inside where she's holed along with the bomb. People with powers like her loves to prove their stances like that—speaking from experience just so you know— so any resistance that Jerrod and I might get are probably unlucky shmucks she got her hands on and any automated defense. Things that the two of us can handle so J here can open a portal for you all."

Then he directs his hand to Bruce. "Unless the scientist has another idea... Maybe even Power," His face grimaces as he looks at her. "Because sometimes the crazy ones tend to have the plan that miraculously works... Ugh." He lets out a sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

He turns to the rest and waves his hands at them, signalling them. "We're a team here so any other ideas are very much welcome... like really quick because we're on the doomsday timer."

Astral Knight: Konngara (Centralis)

The last year or so had indeed been rather silent in terms of anything coming out of the Silent Shrine camp, of Konngara, Reimu, Yuugi, and Suika. Suddenly...

The shrine had been located down the road from one of these Mega-Malls ever since they popped up. Suika, returning home after taking care of some shrine business, saw it happen personally, and rushed back to the shrine to let Konngara know.

"...So, what was it about the mall...?"

"Yeah, that giant building down the road, it just went pitch blaaaack~!" Suika responded, drunkenly.

"Alright, I'll be back, this shouldn't be too tough, probably just some darkness youkai or what have you..."    Konngara stepped outside, with blade in hand, and floats over towards the front entrance.

The astral knight comes to a stop on the other side of the street, just beyond the 'dark zone'. She looks up at the upper floors, and all she sees is pitch black, extending out into a few other buildings as well.

"...this is either a very strong darkness creature, or far worse..."    Facing the front entrance, Konngara holds her sword in a blocking position, mostly talking to herself.

Power

considers everything going on. The pilot leaving, the............ human lashing out, the teleportation, the other puking. She frowns, scratching the top of her head and then rubbing her chin, looking hungrily down at the puke on the floor briefly before deciding that a tastier meal would be extracted from the crimsons veins of those inside the facility.

She take some measured steps, then lowers her head when she sees that she is being "asked" for her input. She remains relatively silent, as if accepting the criticism that's been thrown at her.

The mission was objectively off from the start - the train hadn't derailed so much as it had been put on a highway to start with. But Power knew why. Where someone like Poopillon will blame others, Power blame everyone. Because they had been far too idiotic in carelessly approaching it all at once.

What they needed to do was

THEY CAN'T STOP US ALL AT ONCE!

Power smack herself in the chest and raise her head to the sky to let out a war cry before sprinting at the enemy base. If they spread out just far enough instead of all being on one spaceship, the enemy wouldn't be able to kill all of them. So Power (who would go first whereas the others would probably still make groups) will be able to easily access the base and massacre everyone inside.

Brillant!

Imitating the world's most famous ninja with her run, Power keep yelling, pink hair flaring to the wind as she continue running straight for the base.

Sarah

gets her fist caught and groans at getting carried away first metaphorically, then physically. Not panicking, Sarah prepares to strike back but slightly underestimate Sunstar's speed as he slams her into the desert sand, with Sarah stunned by the shock and by the azure infinity turning into endless yellow so quickly, used as she is to such speed.

And as Sunstar detonates, Sarah's entire world turns yellow, the blast washing over her. In this situation, a lesser woman would have quickly become dust indistinguishable from the sand all around her - but Sarah, even as the energy pins her down and badly burns her, find the strength to try to resist an attack that would have been a fight-ender elsewhere.

As Sarah gathers herself, the blast ascends far in the sky, its actual target a microbe next to it.

Yelling both through the pain and the blast, and initially faltering as her arm is slightly pushed back, Sarah's sleeves burn up as she finally try landing a punch on Sunstar's face. One so powerful as to dissipate the blast, leaving dancer embers floating above a field of glass if Sarah lands her hit. And if she does, all of that glass promptly shatter before being thrown into the air with Sunstar, whom Sarah try to launch as far as she can into the sky

And as Sarah stands, seared and with bad injuries all over her...

... A smile appears on her lips.

Hub Centralis

Such an oddity doesn't go unnoticed for long by many. Buildings suddenly becoming dark? That was odd, even for a city like this.

Enough to draw the attention of one researcher, who was currently away from his base nestled deep in some forest in order to buy groceries. Of course this also had to be the ONE DAY some weird stuff was happening.

"You've... got to be kidding me..."

Dr.Kel had been gathering groceries for the next month or so when he heard a ding- like an elevator appearing -which made him whip around from his cart. He didn't get a chance to see anything before the store was plunged into darkness. He fumbled around in his coat for a moment before digging his flashlight out and turning it on. At least he could see, now.

"Man... why's the weird stuff always gotta happen to me? First with my job and everything that led me to this weird world, and now there's just darkness randomly deciding to show up when I'm getting food for the month? Don't get a break, do I..."

At the very least he'd invested in a gun once he'd been transported to the Arena. With silver bullets, of course- while he'd never properly fought any of the creatures that he had seen... Well, those were the kind of things that he was pretty sure were just immune to bullets. Aliens, alien robots, weird orbs of light- the fucking SUN had tried to kill him once -really, he had gotten used to running. Which would probably be a good idea now.

"Yeah- I don't think weird darkness is ever anything good, so I guess I'll just be leaving now."

He took off down the aisle- he just HAD to have been at the very back of the store, huh? -and made a break down the aisle, not wanting to look behind him just in case this was some sort of cliche horror movie monster chase moment he'd gotten pulled into. And he'd watched WAY too many of those in his free time waiting on signals.

Untold Loss

Artemis allowed herself a moment to calm down, before sighing and standing up. Yup, they'd crashed. Somehow, she wasn't even surprised, nor scared. This was just... her life now? Or maybe it was her feeling weirdly detached from her own body lately. Falling was still a fucking fright though- hey wait, wasn't she able to fly?

"Huh? What's 'someone like me' supposed to mean? Outside of my powers, I'm just a normal human being..."

...right?

That last unsaid word resonated in her head like a nagging thorn. When she had last ate... she didn't feel full. Actually, she hadn't felt out of breath or anything during the whole time she'd been here- which was odd to her. Shouldn't she still need food and water?

She's snapped out of her thoughts by Popillion's rant, and then noticed the instant regret. There was... something about her. The desperation she had in her voice. Yes, there were universes at stake. But one doesn't get so angry over things such as that...

...no, what Artemis saw was someone terrified. Someone so out of their depth that they could only make one last desperate attempt.

"Nobody here can see into the future... You can't prevent everything."

Once everyone is out of the wrecked shuttle, Artemis presses her hand to it, making it suddenly start dissolving into energy that she takes into herself- before forming it into a few different things.

First, she forgoes her clothes entirely in exchange for a rather streamlined, seamless bodysuit made of a sleek, durable black material- Dark Matter, like before. It's easier to move in than her usual hoodie and sweatpants, after all.

She also forms a streamlined sort of winged 'wagon' for Heller to pull along, with enough seating for everyone else (minus Power who had run off already.) This is simply made out of a durable carbon-fiber shell, with some DM interlaced to provide more strength.

"Well, we'd better get moving, huh? We don't exactly have time."

Artemis' eyes had gone slightly hollow. It had first happened after defending the Federation base- this sort of... detachment. She didn't know what it was. Like her mind was retreating into itself. Sure, it let her focus... but she didn't like how it made her think. Less human, more focused on simply doing anything to achieve a goal...

...

This wasn't like her. Something was wrong and she was scared as to what. But... At the same time, she couldn't let her emotions get to her... That scared, weak girl wasn't made for a battlefield. She had to distance herself.

Even if it meant she lost some part of herself along the way, at least it meant people would come out of this safe, right..? Even against impossible odds...

...stories like these had to have a good ending...

...

Artemis was already sitting in the air-wagon she'd made. She seemed to be very deep in thought.

  • Adventures In-Sanity - Submerged Island

Stage: Submerged Island Area - HKU Station - Underwater U

Time: Around 3:00PM

I guess I need to go over how the Trio Attacks actually look like:

  • Balloon Dash: The trio uses Rocket Dash to pull along a weighted balloon until it goes airborne, then uses a Vault Jump to jump above the balloon and smack it downwards, kinda like Trio Kite from Paper Jam.
  • Triangular Bounce: The trio uses Vault Jump to get in the air before switching to Helmet Glider to stay in the air. The flyer jumps on the target first, then the other two jumps on the target together, ending with all three landing on the target simultaneously.
  • Tractor Beam: The trio uses Helmet Glider to fly and Rocket Dash to move forwards. The third person at the bottom of the stack tries to catch as many floating stars as they can to increase the final drop’s firepower.

Trick-Stars is less specific on who’s doing what in the attacks but then again, all three have some means of flight and going fast.

As for Joanne, she got an answer.

What the..?

Luisa stopped to gape at the situation unfolding. The lights of buildings, going out, one by one…

One such building being the mall she’d just walked out from, mere minutes ago. Even now she held the bag bearing the shirts she’d bought at a clothes retailer within, the string gaunt in her right-hand grip. Another strange event, in a month filled with them. Luisa remembered a mere few weeks ago: the goat-man whose home she had found shelter in after a puddle had attacked her. Together they fought off some sort of odd creature which took the form of water itself, and during the battle, she’d awakened…

Some kind of ability. Luisa herself didn’t fully understand it, not yet at least. To be completely frank with herself, she…didn’t particularly want to understand. Luisa was a simple woman. She lived in an apartment with a younger brother and an elderly mother to take care of. She worked as an assistant manager at a fast food place in an urban hell, and when she had the money left over after buying food and clothes and essentials for her two dependents, she liked to go on small trips to the mall; her pay afforded her one every two or so months. She was a simple woman, with a simple life, and Luisa was content with it.

I don’t WANT to be special.

But the Call does not care for the wants or desires of those who hear it. No matter what, it will ensure that you answer.

"Well, I don’t know if it’s that extreme…" She murmured to Elizabeth, standing nearby. "Could just be…an outage? Somebody crashed into the transformer?" Despite her attempts at reason, it seemed that Luisa was trying to convince herself that this was nothing overly strange. Bit odd to say while standing next to a woman with an alien velociraptor as a pet, but again, this was the Arena: things like her creature were routine.

With great power…you know the rest.

looks initially a bit hurt by being called repulsive but then Yuki calls him Chainsaw Guy and he's back to smiling, raising his hand to high-five her.

It's Chainsaw Man though... he then says, before Joseph answers him. Denji's eyes wilden in mild excitment, and then he glances down, rubbing his chin with his index. That does sound good... He says, seemingly accepting Joseph's excuse. He then mostly sit there as exposition is helpfully and smoothly delivered, though he stop listening halfway through to instead glance at the ceiling.

By the time it's over, Denji take about ten seconds to look down.

Big green men have hostages elsewhere and I need to kill some undead things again so that they'll free them, Denji says. I don't get all this Yakub stuff. Can I just be pointed somewhere where I won't need to think too much?

HUB: GROUND ZERO

The Assortment of heroines and observers could not peer into the building and see anything. As if there was just a blank wall behind it. But Harvey and Elizabeth can hear it. A bubbling feeling, like something is rushing underneath the building. Writhing. Taking up the spaces in between and replacing it with something alive. A consciousness? Maybe, but any sort of direction they could feel was more like a scrubbing sponge. It was just soaking up volume.

Harvey could smell copper. Nickel. Zinc. Chromium. Magnesium. Aerated, running into the air. Gaps of the buildings began to expel mist. The slightest bit of pink.

The Apartment doors opened, a wall of darkness seemingly blocking the entrance. An impenetrable fog.

Only for cartoonishly, a perfectly white carpet to roll out of the fog-

HUB: THE MEGAMART

As soon as Kel turned the flashlight and began to navigate from the back of the store, they heard what sounded like crunching. Up ahead their light caught the image of something with black fur suddenly sprinting out of sight. Blood was left in the wake, something having been dragged across. Continuing forward the aisles seemed... wrong. Some parts had... ceilings? Roofs of metal and brick where non were present.

The aisles now were leading to bends in a hallway, and at one point, the walls surrounding Dr.Kel were of that meshing, which showed a dimly lit, tropical jungle.

Something very wrong had gone down-

Kel's light caught the aide of an octopus-like entity, wrapped tightly around what looked like a man in a long white coat. The creature was covered in strange patterns, and as soon as the light hit the patterns the round head of the creature turned around. The symbols on its cephalon resembled a mouthless face, a marking resembling a cross added depth to its skin's tapestry. Then lines of light appeared around the bottom of its bulbous face, resembling a jagged and excited grin, as it tried to swing itself forward at Dr. Kel. He could see briefly the arms were covered in "suction cups, and the center of the creature's underbelly possessed a wicked set of teeth stretched to resemble a squid's beak. It would attempt to get a good bite in, before something crashed against the mesh-

Wait, somethong cradhed against the Mesh.

A theropod with a tall, almost blunt face face crashed through and nearly grabbed the octopus-like creature, huffing and barking like a mastiff as it tried to wrestle into the smaller aisles, snapping and clawing at both Dr.Kel and the strangling attacker.

HUB: GROUND ZERO

Roaring and Ceasbinf could be heard on the otherside of the mall within the megamart, though quickly as it starts Tatiana flies into the Megamall, and once more sees only darkness.

HUB: MEGAMALL

Within that darkness however, there is an odd orange light trailing across the upper floors of the mall. She can't see what's behind the light...

Her attempt to goat an attacker into confronting her works, thiugh all she can see is a body approaching her, slumped over something, being worn like a cloak. Something is wrong though...

That's when a phone goes off on the ground, and the light from the screen illuminates the individual approaching her.

It's an Inkling... well, was. They had been degutted, only the skin remaining and the face, the maw left open as a shrew-like nose stuck of it, beady eyes glaring at her from deep within the cadaver hood. It pointed a claw forward at her, holding a staff in its warty hand, shouting at her.

"FALL!"

Screeches surrounded her as ape-like beings descended from the upper floors. They possessed feyish faces, their teeth, their throat, their eyes... it glowed blue, like lightning in a bottle. Their pelt darker than night, their faces carved like ivory. They closed the distance quickly, hoping to gut the woman on the spot.

HUB: GROUND ZERO

And now, primal screaming was coming from the mall. The hole Tatiana made in the wall let not even a glimpse of light illuminate the interior.

Hub Centralis Incident

Elizabeth frowned at what she was sensing. Very very peculiar to say the least, Harvey similarly growling at the smell.

"Nope. Definitely something evil. I can sense something alive writhing in there." she says, on guard. Then it rolls out the red white carpet. "Well if they're going to just open the door for us.."

She cautiously enters, ready to blast anything that might attack with her psychic magic powers.

The Last Dance

"Huff... can't move... c'mon..!"

As one of the explosives lands near him, Durian forces himself to his feet, being propelled by adrenaline to get behind cover. His magic is still recovering from that burst...

"-gah!"

His cover clearly wasn't strong enough- being blown to bits and knocking him right over. He can feel the resultant rattle of his body, and he groans in pain.

Exhausted. BP does not regenerate this turn.

Centralis - Megamart

Dr.Kel was still running, before he slowed down a bit when he realized the aisles were... metal? Stone? Was that blood? And since when had there been hallways? And is that a jung-

"-woah!"

Kel throws himself back as the octopus lunges for him, but he barely gets a chance to react before- is that a goddamn dinosaur?!

Already in-motion from the first backwards dodge, he can't exactly dodge further, resulting in the claws raking across his shirt, and his lower body getting pretty badly torn open...

"-gah! Man, that hurts..!"

Somehow, he manages to not drop his flashlight, though his free hand goes to his wounded chest as he staggers back. Someone catches him, however.

"You need to stop getting in trouble, Kellin."

Kel's first instinct is to look straight up. Because he knows that voice. And the person that comes with it.

"Argi? What the heck are you doing heEEEEEEE-"

Kel's voice suddenly rises as he's picked up and feels the absolute rush of air as Argemia starts to just sprint with him carried in one arm. Because of course, while she's not as athletic as some of her species, she can still manage to sprint at roughly 35 MPH.

Kel is still bleeding quite badly. He tries to keep pressure on the wound as Argemia seems to sprint down an ever-changing path, not giving up her stride in the slightest. She's focused, that's for sure.

"How... how did you even get here so fast..?"

"Fell asleep in van. Woke up to you walking into store. Saw store go dark, got worried."

She goes silent again as she keeps sprinting, navigating towards the front of what used to be the store. Towards the exit. She could simply bust through the walls if she really felt like it, but Kel was not nearly as durable or strong as her.

"That... explains all the blankets..."

Kel goes quiet, focusing on simply trying to keep himself awake through both pain and mounting bloodloss.

Hub Centralis - Approaching the Megamall

The man — a face that may be somewhat familiar to some as one Athelier, although his attire is considerably more modern, consisting of a turtleneck jacket, a blazer on top, as well as pants, continues to walk forward, opting to lift his sunglasses to peer into the darkness — a form of magical sight, really, to peer into any supernatural residues that may clue him in as to the nature of whatever this event is.

"Odd..."

He's not quite charging in, unlike the others, at least, opting to remain somewhat cautious and to observe as he draws closer to the site of the incident.

Regardless, he's a sight that may stand out somewhat, and those who have not yet entered the buildings may notice his presence.

Metru Nui

(oneshot foreshadowing post)

The Matoran are hard at work, fortifying buildings and gathering everything important to them. Not just things like masks, but welding tools, books, telescopes, and a whole lot more. They're even trying to bring all the remaining Rahi together, hoping that they can be saved too.

Every few hours the walls on the border of the city quake, a grim reminder that the harmful, mutagenic water from outside is coming ever closer to breaking through and destroying them all. Which is why they're gathering as much as they can right now. They may need to get out immediately once the Great Spirit brings Botar back to them. There's no way to know if they'll still have time to grab anything at that moment in time, so they're getting it all done now.

With, of course, the Vahki checking to see if what the Matoran try to bring with them is allowed to be brought, as well as keeping the peace... mainly through intimidation, as usual. So far though, things have been going well. The Vahki haven't had to intervene in anything yet.

Velika sits on a bench near the Coliseum entrance. Simply humming. Simply relaxing as if the end of the world isn't knocking on their door. Unlike all the other Matoran, there's not a bit of worry in his mind. Perhaps it's due to the deal he made earlier. Or perhaps he simply sees himself above it all.

It's quiet and peaceful, since most of the Matoran are too busy to really pay him any mind. A few times, some Matoran had stopped near him to ask him if he was already done grabbing everything he wanted to take with him, to which Velika would always give the same answer: 'there's nothing I want to take with me from this world'.

Due to him not being busy, he has more time than the others to survey his surroundings. So his curiosity is once again piqued when he notices one of the Vahki behaving... strangely. It seems to be moving more than the others, and is watching the Matoran closely, but isn't paying attention to the stuff they carry with them.

When that Vahki suddenly approaches a pair of Matoran and motions for them to enter a nearby building, Velika becomes lost to his curiosity, hopping off of his bench and stealthily following as the three go inside. The door is shut behind them, but not closed, allowing for Velika to carefully and quietly open the door and peek inside.

The two Matoran, whose names elude Velika (not that he really cares for them), are asking if they did anything wrong, to which the Vahki's eyes suddenly glow purple, sparks flying out of it. The Matoran, caught off guard, back off a bit, though their bodies suddenly stiffen as their own eyes glow purple as well.

They stay like that for a few seconds, and then... seem to go back to normal, though neither of them questions anything. They don't even look aware that anything had happened.

When they move to the door, Velika backs off and hides behind the wall. The Matoran don't notice him when they exit and simply return to what they were doing before. ... How peculiar, Velika thinks as he walks out from behind the wall...

Only to suddenly get pulled inside the building, as the Vahki had seen him. It throws Velika into the room and immediately stands over him, eyes flashing purple and sparks flying off of it.

Velika suddenly feels his body stiffen, as if an outside force was invading and trying to take control of his mind and body. Most would panic in the brief moment of mental freedom they'd have left before this assimilation, but not him.

Because Velika's will is greater. Much greater. And with the mere power of his mind, he's able to resist this presence, and after a few seconds, expel it by force. The Vahki backs off, glitching and stuttering in place before shutting off and collapsing. Velika slowly approaches, still curious, but much more careful too.

... nothing comes of it though, so eventually Velika quickly exits the building again, closing the door behind him and leaving before anyone can find the wrecked Vahki and blame him. How odd though... he'd have to pay more attention to the Matoran, find out what's going on. Find out if this is something he can make use of.

...

He doesn't know why, but he gets the feeling like there are more eyes on him now.

-

"That was strange. I've never failed to possess anything mechanical before. These things are biomechanical, but so far none of them have been able to reject me."   , a voice echoes from the Vahki. Corrupted data takes visible form and changes into a Hub clone.

"I should keep an eye on that Matoran. I can't risk him interfering with this part of the plan."

In the year 202X, all is devastation... Soon, any last shred of hope had by the saintliest optimist shall die and decay.

Astral Knight: Konngara (Centralis)

"...Eiiiiihhh..."    A somewhat worried noise escaped Konngara after hearing the mention of "something alive", but she held her sword firm. As the white carpet appeared in front of the astral knight, revealing an entrance, the yaksha proceeded to follow Elizabeth into the sea of darkness. She was going to trust Elizabeth here.

Once inside, Konngara changed stances a bit, ready to slash her sword at whatever might come her way. If it wasn't pitch dark inside, Konngara's "legs" would appear especially wispy now, struggling to find solid ground. However, the yaksha didn't appear to be all that bothered, and she remained upright. The astral knight may have great perception in low light (living in Jigoku/Hell for a long time will do that to you), but pitch black spots weren't always the same.

"...Yeah, I'm getting a bad feeling... this is no mere youkai."    she mentioned off-hand, her red eyes glowing slightly.

Reploid District, Solopost (some point after last scene here)

Doll looked at her reflection in a shop window. She supposed the new Decepticon sigil placed just below her neck didn't look that bad. She wondered how her parents might have reacted if they saw their daughter is part of a gang and getting tattoos. Well, more of a rogue military organization than a gang.

She wasn't sure if the glass cracking was from the usual "problems" or because of being reminded of why she's here. She shook her head and started walking away, ignoring the stares from some Reploids.

Speaking of that problem, she wondered if she should tell her new leader about it. He was apparently some kind of robotics supergenius so if humans could make a patch maybe he could too. If nothing else, she was starting to doubt she could find her way home anyway.

She shook her head and refocused on the task at hand. Supposedly this district is where that thing killed the golden moron (Crosscut apparently) so this was her best lead. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed the mechanical bird still tailing her from above. Buzzsaw was supposedly her backup but she suspected he was here to make sure she didn't try anything.

She stopped as she noticed some place called "The Baritone Bar", raising an eyebrow at the musical theming and the advertised drink of the day. The "Dinobot-Demolisher", guaranteed to knock out even a Dinobot.

Technically she could drink that. After admitting to needing to consume oil to survive to her new allies, she was simply given a refit to "metabolize" the same way they did (and found out they have stockpiles of it for drinking anyway). Things actually tasting good now was new to her (not to mention not having to get it from the bodies of the dead). Her stereotypical Russian programming was urging her towards the bar.

"Oh what the hell, I'm already getting tattoos and joining unsavory gangs. May as well add underage drinking to complete my angsty teen transformation." she shrugged. Plus bars tend to be where info congregates.

She tried not to show how she was fuming at being denied the vaunted Dinobot-Demolisher and instead having to stare at some... cutesy robot soda drink, with an adorable looking yellow mascot on the can. K-Juice (short for Kremzeek-Juice) apparently.

"Sorry but you're not old enough to drink the heavy stuff." Quint shrugged.

Buzzsaw currently drinking out of a bowl of Engex by dunking his stupid bird head in did not help matters. Who would have thought he's millions of years old.

"Whatever." Doll sighed, drinking it anyway. It did taste good at least. Now to get back to work. "Say. You wouldn't have happened to have seen any other robots with a... similar design to myself?"

"Two actually." Quint said, not particularly caring enough to get suspicious or withhold info.

"...Were any of them taller, have prominent fangs and a tail with a syringe?" Doll asked, leaning closer.

"Both. Called V and N apparently." Quint nodded.

Doll's grip got shaky and she almost crushed the can she was holding.

"So she is here..." she said, tone venomous. "Thank you for telling me."

Quint knew that kind of tone. Because that's how he sounds whenever he thinks of a certain doctor. So he simply gave her a nod.

"Good luck." he said. Doll nodded back and looked away as she thought about what to do next... Probably finish her drink and leave a generous tip first of all.

"That was a pointless encounter with a pointless person."

Gojo

almost get his arm cut off and also has a good amount of shoulder go missing, but the healing orbs restore his injuries, and he smirks menacingly as he flex his now-healed arm. I hope you're hiding more of those orbs somewhere in ya, buddy.

Despite this, Gojo takes note of Kurt's movements - they could mangle him pretty bad through his mighty reinforcement, after all. His six eyes dart around their orbits, their primary function being to see the plain reality of Kurt's attacks as Gojo fluidly move around them, kicking the air itself to travel across the sky unhindered. A feat of raw strength more than a demonstration of Jujutsu, but perhaps that was one anyway.

Smiling as gashes nonetheless open up along his body, including one by his cheek, Gojo kick himself up in the air and then barrels down towards Kurt, attempting to directly hit it in the face/back of the head. Moreso than giving the others a shot at aiming for the Silence, he kind of wanted to just punch it in the face.

Denji

finds himself back on Tropique. Don't worry too much about where exactly he is in relation to a certain necropolis - what matters is that she had asked him to go hunt after a pernicious Devil - the Paper Devil. Nothing that'd be too bad, huh? After all, what were paper cuts to Chainsaw Man?

Well...

... It turns out that, indeed, they weren't much but by that same token, Chainsaw Man was finding it difficult to be able to kill it off.

A mass of paper, with a crude drawing of part of a body on it (at least four floating pages were needed to "complete" the eye) floated over a lonely, isolated beach, with Chainsaw Man in hot pursuit of it. Whenever he slashed even a single piece of paper, it'd scatter before pulling itself together, with only slight marks and an otherwise impact drawing.

As a whole, the mass of paper, once put together, depicted the withered, cruel figure of an elderly woman with long white hair, small beady black eyes and fangs in her cavernous mouth, which was open as to accidentally invoke a meme that would unfortunately seize the Internet within... two decades of Denji's time?

And as for the paper, it flew at him, but did very little to harm him. He'd only suffered a series of superficial nicks since the "fight" had started.

It was a weak Devil to be sure. It was just kind of annoying to get rid of.

CHAINSAW MAN! SLASH ME INTO A BILLION PIECES AND YOU WILL MERELY GIVE ME MORE HANDS TO CHOKE YOU TO DEATH WITH! The Paper Devil roars as Denji leaps at it, buffeting him back with a series of papers. One of which Denji, as he finds himself sent crashing back to the shore, is quick to grab in his mouth, trapping the wriggling piece of paper between his teeth.

Tastes like paper.

Denji smiles as his demonic tongue proceeds to press into the paper, his saliva making it wet - and, as such, unable to put itself back when he bite on it to sever it.

I'VE FINALLY FIGURED OUT YOUR WEAKNESS! YOU'RE WEAK TO BEING LICKED!! BECAUSE MY SALIVA WILL MAKE YOU STICKY AND WEAK!!

!!!! YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY HAVE ENOUGH SALIVA TO TAINT ALL OF ME!!

I'LL PISS AND BLEED ALL OVER YOU THEN! AND THEN IF THAT WON'T WORK, I'LL MAKE YA CRY SALTY TEARS OF PAIN AND BEAT YOU UP WITH THEM! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!    Chainsaw Man slams the ground and watch as the Paper Devil fearfully floats back towards the shore, defiance slowly making way to fear.

Hub Centralis, Outside the megamall

Gregor sighs, as he hears screaming from inside. "Manager bud's going to kill me for this one, but I can't sit my ass down this time." The man puts on a headlamp and readies his claw, before heading into the first entrance he can find, his clawed arm moving, as if stretching for excercise.

Inside the megamall

Headlamp on, Gregor arrives inside, noticing all the rat creatures around. He puffs his cigarette. Too late to go back and be a coward now. He readies himself for a fight. "Oy, Civvie bud. I'm here to help."

Hub, Stained, Loss

"Unfortunately, I think you might be right…" Luisa murmured to Elizabeth as the carpet rolled out, inviting them within. I’ve never seen a more obvious trap. But still, she doubted that whatever was behind this all would simply allow them to leave and pretend nothing ever happened. So…

Let me see if I can remember how to do this. Luisa recalled that day, inside Kel’s hobbit hill home. She’d made the hand signal entirely on accident, throwing her arms up haphazardly to defend herself, but as soon as she did…it just felt right. She’d felt the stress, the panic, the sadness and anger flare within her, before leaving her body to manifest in the real world.

Now, she needed to do it again.

"Alright…" Luisa murmured, lowering to a knee. She put her hands before her, clapping her fingers together in the shape of a wolf’s head, with jaws parted hungrily. A dark circle manifested around her and the shadows at her feet moved. Two—no, four crimson eyes appeared amidst the shifting darkness, which quickly took form: two wolves, one white and one black, with three red dots in the formation of a triangle between their eyes. One howled, as the other pressed itself between her side and arm. Luisa smiled and pet the shadowborn creation. As much as she disliked the concept of owning abilities that set her apart, she was glad that the ability in question was the power to seemingly summon dogs.

The white one took a seat beside her as she stood again, while the black began to approach the red carpet. There had been no need for any sort of communication; the dog knew what it was she wanted, because it in itself was an extension of herself and understood her own wishes. It would scout ahead on its own, to avoid putting Luisa herself in danger. It trotted through the entrance, prepared for whatever may come…

Eren’s eyes narrowed as he felt the heat of the Bazelguese’s flames intensify. He flipped himself and pointed in the direction he presumed to be down, zipping back to earth and aborting his attack in favor of safety. He could afford to take a number of injuries, but his ODM wouldn’t regenerate as he could. The shifter hit the ground at a rapid pace and, with nothing to break his fall, broke his legs. That’s alright.

Elsewhere, Luin gaped as their foe took flight, ushering Rocky into a full on retreat. But as the Brachydios did, she spied Durian being hit even from behind his cover by a bomb, left exposed and vulnerable to any other attack that might’ve come. She considered her morals for only a brief moment before sighing and gritting her teeth, guiding Rocky towards the injured man.

As he scouted for a spot to retreat to while the bones in his legs mended, he noted the shadow of the absurdly huge Baltaos…and the drops of explosives falling from the sky, littering the field. That was considerably less alright. Eren jerked around for a point to zip away to and locked on at last to Luin upon her tame. He pointed the ODM’s grip and pulled the trigger. Rocky yelped as the wire shot into his haunches and Eren was dragged behind, but it was too late, a bomb had already landed behind him and—

BLAM!

Blood and charred flesh flew in every direction as his lower half was utterly annihilated, a trail of dangling entrails and muscle following Eren as he slid along the ruined earth. Luin gasped as she looked behind and saw the mortally wounded man, just as Rocky arrived. She hopped off and rolled under the Brachydios as he hunkered down over her and Durian, allowing them to survive the rest of the bombing under the blast-resistant beast.

Still…I couldn’t save him, she thought as she looked out towards Eren. Steam rose from his wounds as he lay there, face-down in the dirt.

Bruce frowned at Popillion’s tirade, her panic seeping through her reason and manifesting in a slew of complaints directed at everyone but herself. Despite her accusations, though, the scientist could not find it within him to be hurt. He’d been called much worse things by people much closer to him. Monster. Animal. Beast.

Hulk. Nothing any of these people could’ve ever said would hurt him more than it did hearing that from the mouth of the one he loved. But still, Popillion’s stressing was making him stress, and he couldn’t have that. So, he dealt with the issue in the best way he could’ve.

"Calm down. Now." The scientist spoke, rather pointedly. Some of the others chose to explain themselves, or tried to appeal to her with emotion: trying to understand where she was coming from, why she was panicking, and what have you. Bruce figured she’d—if she were anything like him, and had a more logical mind—respond more to reason. "We don’t have time to argue, and we barely have time to plan. You’re our leader. Lead. Or would you rather be hiding in that conference room?" His confidence came suddenly, as it so often did when he needed it to. Next, he turned to Heller. "It’s a good plan. I don’t have anything to add." Bruce opened his mouth to say more, when Power did Power things and Powered off to deal with the Problem by Powering through and raw-dogging it. That was…all things considered, probably not an excellent idea.

"Damn—no! Stop it!" Bruce shouted, kicking off into motion after her. He drew his alien-looking sidearm and pointed it at her, quickly adjusting the settings before pulling the trigger. If all went as intended, she’s suddenly be wrenched backwards, flung back into the group by some forceful tractor-beam esque technology within the scientist’s tool.

Untold Loss

Shuttle

Jerrod seemed fairly dismissive of Popillion's assessment of the railguns and shrugged as a response while avoiding any vomit under his feet. "Hey, I'm an adventurer, fighter, and former Instance containment agent, but I'm not an expert on weapon engineering of whatever company you work for." The man isn't going to even try pretending that he knows what "kinetic isolation" means. "If you plan to explain, you'll need to do it in layman's terms."

Before he took a step forward, he mustered up a serious-enough look to cast at Popillion and leaned a little closer to her. "I'm serious, do you think someone like Power or Artemis-" As he made his point, he discreetly gestured at the two people in question. "-understand big technology jargons?" While Jerrod hasn't met Artemis before, he has heard of someone (that he's almost certain is Artemis) from his new cohabitant Charlian.

After the woman berated the pilot, the Summoner wasted no time in answering Heller with a quick "Sure thing!" and opening a golden portal that looks like a magic circle. "This little opening will lead you right back to where we took off." One of his arms snaked around the pilot's shoulders and patted him on the back. "You've just avoided certain obliteration, so look alive like you should be and get going, yeah?"

Once that's dealt with, Jerrod just listened to the director's tirade with a fixed smile and walked up to her once Heller and Artemis said their piece. "Look, lemme just make a couple of things clear." The man had the audacity to wrap his right arm around her shoulder and lean on her a little. "First of all, like Artemis said, there's no guarantee people can see the future. I can do a lot, but I can't do everything and I don't want to. There's a whole moral and philosophical explanation that I'll spare you, but the gist of it is that it's a slippery slope and I don't intend on sliding down."

A trace scent of food would occasionally hit her in the face as he spoke. "Second, I have a feeling you're not quite used to dealing with things outside of you and your company's control. That sucks, but you'll have to- need to endure this for the remainder of this mission. If Ana is as powerful as you say, there's a good chance we- and I mean all of us here- won't have things 100% handled."

"For now, let's go with Heller's plan-" As he tried to reassure the woman, Jerrod gave the man in question a grateful nod for coming up with a good plan so quickly. "-and see how it goes. If this mission goes awry, I'll contact two of my friends, they have means to take us to a... 'safehouse' that even a bomb like this may not be able to reach."

Then, Jerrod suddenly stiffened before releasing the woman from his arms. "No, yeah, that's actually a good idea. Give me a couple of minutes to call them so they can prepare. Heller? Artemis?" The man turned to the two. "You guys gather everybody and make sure they're physically and mentally ready for what comes next and see if they're on board with the plan, this will take just a little bit of time." After that, he would open a literal tear in space with a blade made from Spatial Infractor's energy and dash into it. It would take about 2 minutes before the same tear opened up again, with Jerrod climbing out of it like that was a completely normal thing to do. "Alright, I gave my friends a heads up and I'm ready to start."
