"Hmm..."

Alice digs through her bag, eventually pulling out a compacted clockwork machine, which quickly expands with a series of clicks, forming into a miniaturized shoulder-braced cannon. She glances over at Kana.

"You can lure it, sure. But I've got a good idea for when they surface..."

She slams the muzzle of the cannon into the ground, and when it comes back up, there's a small dent in the earth and a compacted earthen projectile ready to fire.

"Sadly, don't have anything better than packed earth to throw at it, but hey, what can ya do..."

Alice heaves the cannon up onto her shoulder and grins.

"Either way, these beasts are gonna get a taste of Europan ingenuity!"

She stands ready to fire at a moment's notice.

After a few more turns of the Rollers practising, Trick-Stars has also planned a full route for the trip - mainly focusing on HK Island, Kowloon and a bit of Sai Kung and Sha Tin, covering 2/3rds of the Captianeus effects. (The three are also not as familiar with the districts in the Lava and Mountain effect zones outside of Kass in Tsing Yi and Tsing Yi only.)

|Honey|

Are we ready?

If so, Trick-Stars will wait for an elevator, then have the groups get inside twice to prevent overloading. I assume all the Rollers would be in the same elevator.

Both times would be like Honey and “Pyra” discovering the ability to travel to Data-Alliance City: Honey presses the B3 button, the elevator enters a Matrix Raining Code area where the elevator and the centre of gravity rotates 180 degrees and goes up, and the groups emerge at Data-MCP CENTRAL, now with more green and the occasional plantlife along the walls. No one in there seems to mind.

Again, a myriad of mythological beings can be found just walking around in the City. Goblins and tengu walk around alongside humans while centaurs carry their friends on their back. Some go for a Cute Monster Girl approach to integrate better into the City. There are even dragons flying outside before shapeshifting into a human form as they land.

Vampire Duel

Owargh. Flandre gets kicked away, landing in a roll and quickly jumping back on her feet. If Slayer thought to try and use Laevateinn himself, he'd be disappointed as the sword vanishes in an explosion of flame and reappears in Flandre's hand as she promptly follows that up by striking the ground with it. Cracks on the ground travel towards Slayer before it explodes into a fiery geyser.

Vs. Mugen Zero

Trio pointedly ignores X, finding the Reploid beneath his notice. He envelops himself in Evil Energy and charges through the flames, facetanking them before flying above Zero. He then aims downwards and used Frost Man's stolen weapon to fire a wave of frost (duh) to freeze Zero before following it up with a shot from his buster.

Storm Over Estraole

Ramlethal heard a bell sound long before her radar could detect the shots aimed for her funnel binder. Reacting purely on instinct, she redlined the thrusters and pivoted out of the way of the shots, crashing through the top of a nearby building in the process. The Gundarium armor was better protected vs physical damage though so this was better than a beam shot hitting her. She recovers and feels annoyance again but also something else she can't place... Truthfully she hasn't faced an opponent who has given her trouble like this before.

She fires a few beam shots again but this time follows up by flinging her lance like an olympic athlete, and her foe might be surprised when the lance adjusts course mid-air like a funnel to impact into her.

Inside the Gadessa, Hiling smirked to herself. She watched Charlian approach and quickly hit the throttle, the GN Drive roaring to life as she moved with a lot more speed than any of the MS Charlian has faced so far. This will also reveal itself to be a feint as right as she dodges, Charlian will see a rather extreme amount of missiles heading his way due to both Zssas now focusing him down with artillery fire.

Hiling herself waits to see how he handles the rockets but notices Ramlethal get blindsided by the sonic blast, her Qubeley stumbling.

"Well the 'Commander' would hate to see his lovely daughter get taken out. Guess as her auntie I should help~." she giggles before aiming the GN Mega Launcher at the KoOhKi. She charges up before firing another big beam blast at the strange mech.

Kusuha will find herself in trouble as a barrage of beam blasts also head her way, revealed to be from Autumn's red Gaplant Custom and Bawoo Kai 2 performing a speedy strafing run in their jet-like transformed modes. They split off evasively before any retaliation can be made, assuming their foe to be less air-capable.

Back with Cittufeni, BuCUE 2 finally stands up only for a fucking Thing to smash into its face; the dog-like mobile suit falling over again and leaving itself wide open to be hacked. If Artemis somehow accesses the cockpit space after doing so, she'll see some strange mechanical... thing in there that vanishes into a burst of purple data.

BuCUE 3 avoids Cittufeni's beam blast and attempts to counter, only to be blocked by a beam cannon blast from the Phoenix Gundam, which promptly charges in with its beam saber out. BuCUE Leader stares Cittufeni down before dashing and jumping him like a wild animal, though instead of fangs it has two beam sabers built into the sides of its head.

Final Objective: Destroy GNZ-003 Gadessa

Allies:

- Phoenix Gundam - Attack

Sword Tournament

Between Sam and the Shez of the Male persuasion, Apothea might not hear Clone Two charge out the door with Laevateinn at the ready, holding it forward to try and run her through from behind. If Apothea instead dies to M!Shez' attack (or Sam inexplicably)...

"You piece of shit! If you take my prey then you're next on my fucking hit list!" she shouts out, showing why she's the Angry one. At which point she swings Laevateinn to send a flaming sword beam at M!Shez (or Sam) before also jumping (good) up to attack him from above with a downwards strike that has enough force to shatter a crater into the ground.

I'm waking up to Dust and Bones

"Gotcha!" Yuki says with a nod, about 60% of all that flying over her head. Without hesitation she leaps through the portal and has her fire magic at the ready in case there's any zambinos or anything else waiting to get them. She heard fire is effective against the undead even if she hasn't really faced them herself before.

Storm Over Estraole

Estraole, Federation Base

"Aw, I missed..." Excellent pouted as Rein Weissritter ascended back into the air and raised its rifle, preparing to snipe Ramlethal from afar before she was interrupted by the beam shots that she avoided with relative ease. The thrown lance was also easy enough to avoid, but Excellen failed to anticipate it also being a weapon that can be controlled remotely. According to the knowledge Charlian granted her, Newtypes are known for being able to control remote weapons like funnels and wired beam cannons, not melee weapons.

Which is why she was unable to fully dodge the attack, being forced to maneuver her machine in a way so the lance doesn't directly hit her cockpit and only shear off a large chunk of Rein Weissritter's right leg. Just as she prepared to use the wings to fly away immediately, KoOhKi's Sonic Shout managed to temporarily stun Qubeley Valentine, giving her enough time to hide behind a wrecked building to recover and adjust from the lost weight.

Speaking of the Tiger Lord Machine, Bullet was able to dodge the giant beam relatively easily. Compared to RyuOhKi, KoOhKi excels in swift and decisive melee attacks and has greater mobility, to the point where it can move fast enough to produce a few afterimages, which is exactly what it achieved by moving in a zigzag pattern in an attempt to confuse Hiling. "Fang Missile!" Bullet shouted within his cockpit to command his strange mech, who immediately responded by launching a barrage of small missiles from its mouth at Gadessa.

One might question why Bullet isn't utilizing his machine's strength, and the answer to that would come in the form of Rein Weissritter emerging from behind a building by ascending above it and flying "Many thanks, Bullet." Excellen muttered with genuine gratitude as her machine raised its rifle, for her teammate helped distract Gadessa with its bizarre movements and missiles. Without even howling playfully, she set Howling Launcher to B mode once again and fired a barrage of three piercing bullets that directly targeted Gadessa's shoulders and head while utilizing the ruins in front of her as cover, hoping to catch her off guard.

While Excellen and Bullet are fending relatively well despite facing off against two powerful pilots, the same can't be said for Charlian and Kusuha. The latter quickly took to the sky to avoid most of the beam shots (with a few grazing its body), while the former was forced to move as the massive barrage of missiles flew right at his general location, which is the moment when Charlian realized that he may have underestimated their range.

However, where he's headed likely isn't what anyone expected.

Without a word, Alteisen Riese suddenly started charging Northwest, raising its chain gun to fire at Zssa 2's missiles to create an opening where he would, once again, raise the throttle to max speed. "Kusuha, with me!" is all Charlian said to the blue-haired girl on private comms, who immediately responded by flying right at Bawoo Kai 2. He could've used telepathy to communicate with her (which is something he's allowed to do with his sentient Replications), but he decided that it's better to get used to the radio comms, because he might have to work with other pilots in the future.

The reason for this sudden detour is that he realized it would be too difficult to take down the Gadessa without "thinning the herd" first, so he decided to do the unexpected and directly hit the enemy backline, which would also let him block off the retrieval target's escape route if he can take out both Zssas. As for Kusuha, while he didn't explicitly tell her what to do, the blue-haired girl seems to have realized his plan.

"Dragon Cutter!" The Psychodriver commanded her machine, who flew ever so slightly to the right in order to use its wings to slice into the bright green Zeon suit's torso, taking advantage of the fact that it separated from the Gaplant Custom, in order to completely disable it. While RyuOhKi has medium armor and mobility and excels in neither (which can hinder its performance against high mobility mechas), it has the ability to fly (something that KoOhKi lacks) and both powerful ranged and melee attacks.

Regardless of whether this succeeds, the Dragon Lord Machine would continue to fly North to group up with Charlian, who temporarily duck behind a relatively intact building to take cover in case the Zssa whips out a close-ranged weapon. Then, Alteisen Riese would jump out from behind the building and charge towards Zssa 2 and slam its pile bunker into the yellow suit's right arm before attempting to forcibly rip that off. His first instinct was to fire the Claymores (explosive ball bearings), but realized that the Zssa is practically a walking explosive with the amount of missile pods it's packing.

"Rastaban Beam!" The girl called out the attack name on open-comms this time, with RyuKoOh shooting energy beams from its eyes that threatened to blow away Zssa 2's legs. With the Claymores softening up the Zeon machine, she hoped that the eye beams would completely disable to the machine and render it unable to keep fighting, not wanting to kill the pilot by detonating the missiles.

Blood was thick on the air.

As snow fell in thin flurries from the puffy white clouds overhead, coating the mountains and cliffs and tall pines in white, a single smell proliferated the atmosphere: blood, like the taste of iron, heavy on the nose and mouth of any nearby.

But especially so for a certain passerby. The river cutting through the swathe of trees had been given currents of red, bloody blades and pulverized plates and liberated limbs caught up and swept downstream. A body hung limp from a tree, impaled through the chest by the wood; on the ground below him, not far away, lay the slain corpse of a horse with its hide open and guts spilled. The severed heads of hunting hounds hung by viscera from branches like charms. A trail of blood led deeper into the brush, but before that was a man in full plate armor, lying against a tree. His chest had been caved in, and his right arm torn off at the elbow. His blade was broken in two at his thigh, and though his head hung limp and motionless, there was an ever-so-subtle rising and falling of the chest.

With great power…you know the rest.

"Aw, come on Kana. You're a frontliner," Taye chuckles. She's also beaming with pride at Alice. Either way, it seems she agrees with this decision.

Alice will find that the current projectile has a fair amount of wet clay and gravel, lending it extra weight & giving it the extra punch. In fact, the next shot she digs up will just be an entire rock.

Taye takes position behind Kana, at an angle where Alice's improvised cannonballs will not hit her. She adjusts her secretly-armored clothes, then unsheathes her sword, holding it in a battle stance. Best to be there to help when an ally's thoroughly grappled.

"Ready when you are." Taye looks between Kana and Ladwin.

Storm Over Estarole

"-oof! Alright!"

Lagann sticks the drill from its lower body solidly into the BuCUE, drilling in further and merging itself with the turret. With the brilliant glow of Spiral Energy, Artemis manages to override the systems, transforming the BuCUE into something more befitting via a duo of powers...

With both unwavering will and shining hope, Artemis calls upon her False Creation. Not to create, but to change.

As she settles into the cockpit of the reforming mecha, she notices an odd being disappear. She pays it no mind for now.

"Alright!! Let's kick this up a notch, eh?!"

Metal rends and energy pours as the hacked mecha is forced into something new. Artemis finds herself back in Lagann... but who would pilot the other half?

"Hey, need a hand there?"

Ringing out over comms is a woman's voice, the whistling of wind heard in the background.

Anyone with radar pointed to the air will be able to note a blip with a very low cross-section before something slows down and lands atop Lagann.

It's Croque.

"Trying to pilot a mecha that needs two people on your own doesn't work very well, eh? Lemme help you with that!"

As the mecha finishes shifting, Croque climbs into the second cockpit, and the mech stands from the dust to reveal...

Gurren Lagann.

"Who the hell..."

"...do you think we are?!"

Both pilots move in tandem, the badass mecha forming a drill from one of its hands and driving it forwards at the BuCUE Leader.

Skyrim, Forest Near Riverwood

Milo had been trudging through the snow, cloak wrapped tightly around himself as he walked. He had been busy- his skills as an arcanist of the Beyond meant he was just as well suited to calling forth magic as he was banishing it- something that worked very well on the undead in these areas, it seemed. His hand idly thumbed the amulet around his neck. Four gems made a four-pointed star. One a dull grey, one a whispy blue, one blood red, and one a brilliant white. Each gem glowed and shifted softly from the essences within. A satchel beneath his cloak held much more than it logically should have, along with keeping a selection of magical tools holstered for quick use.

...

His nose tilted into the air. Even from miles away, he could smell it. Blood. Lots of it... He sighed deeply, focusing his mind.

"Ethereal winds, guide my passage..."

A magic circle shimmers below him for a moment as winds from Beyond speed his movements. He takes off towards the forest at a sprinting pace, his footfalls near-silent as he does so.

A few minutes later...

As Milo finally arrives, his eyes widen at the sight. He wastes no time in running over to the man he can sense is still alive- even if it's just barely. He holds one hand out towards them and recites another spell.

"We shall not yet fall to extinction..."

A slight exhaustion washes over Milo as his words set in, shaping the Beyond to heal the injured man's wounds. He then pulls out a garland of otherworldly flowers, adorned with two talismans- one made from a long segment of paper, a pine bough, and an iron-wrought thorn, and another made of another segment of paper, and a ball of hard-pressed clay mixed with flecks of ash. Both have strange symbols written into them, unknown to those not versed in the arcane.

Regardless, when Milo holds the garland near, the man will also feel his pain ebbing, his stamina returning, and his body knitting itself together slightly faster than normal- enough to staunch any bleeding that may remain, at least.

Milo's red eyes glance over the man, and he finally speaks, his voice tinged with worry.

"U-um... hello, mister... Can you tell me what happened here..?"

Milo's fangs are visible when he speaks. the mere sight of them may be enough to rattle the man, depending on the circumstance.

As the Arenagoers summoned to this desert land’s aid stepped through the portal, their location changed.

Ethan’s shelter-in-advance was silently appreciated by a few, but disregarded by others as they beelined to emerge from within and get a view of their surroundings. Whereas Mehhan Nui Cairo had more modern features, with a decent few paved streets, modern buildings, and even billboards atop air-conditioned roofs, their new setting seemed almost stuck in the past. It brought to mind visas of Ancient Egypt at the height of their rule, great pyramids and ferocious sphinxes and towering rulers immortalized in limestone and gold. They stood at the foot of a monolith which rose higher than the surrounding buildings. Before them, to the north, rose a hill of stairs nearly fifty feet wide and five times as long. Statues of pharaohs lined either side, standing tall over the ascent to the Palace of Heavens: an impossibly huge building with tower-sized marble columns propping up the arched roof, the morning sun (some time had clearly passed between when they entered the portal and when they exited, though to them it had been mere seconds) glowing from behind the crest. And all around them, on the horizon, other such awe-inspiring landmarks peeked out from above the rooftops surrounding the monument.

They found themselves in the midst of a desolate city, populated by no man but rather architecture that surely could only have been devised by the gods themselves. The city of beauty. The city of grandeur.

The City of Kings — Khemri

A Golden Age

Libby dropped to a knee and placed her hand upon the dusty ground, eyelids falling shut as she sniffed the air.

INNATE SKILL — LATENT BEAST

Her eyes shot open and she stood, looking back at the others. "They were here just five hours ago. They went this way." She pointed westward, down a spiraling path through some kind of market littered with wooden stalls.

"Already?" Conner balked. "We’ve been here all of three seconds and you already found a trail?"

"Of course. Can’t you see the trail?" With deadpan expression, Libby pointed at the floor. There was no trail to speak of. Conner shook his head and rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, whatever. So what’s the plan? All twenty of us—and company—just wander blindly after you? Somehow I feel like all that’s gonna do is attract a whooole lotta zombie attention. Which, just to clarify, I’m not against, y’know? I say, bring it on! Right?"

Now it was Libby’s turn to roll her eyes, which a rubbing of her forehead mixed in. "Of course we’re not all gonna go the same way. There’s several tasks that need completion here, so it’s likely we’ll be spending a few hours at least in this city. Most of you will remain, set up a base of operations for us. Me and the most combat-skilled among us, plus the Arenagoers," she glanced at Yuki and the Triplets, "will follow the trail to Lily, the Agent, and the researcher. He’ll surely have information on how we can finish the other tasks."

"Right. So…when do we head out?"

"We?" Libby narrowed her eyes at Conner. "No “we.” You’ll be staying here to secure the area."

"Hah! Not a chance, Libs. I’m not about to sit here and play housewife while you and these weirdos have all the fun! I’m coming with." He began to march past her, towards the market street, only to be blocked by Libby’s outstretched arm. She leaned into his ear and whispered:

"Try to take another step that direction and I’ll shove your legs up your own ass." Conner did his best to hide his shock as he locked eyes with Libby, a wholly serious expression glaring back. "And you know I will."

He grimaced, grunted, and shoved Libby’s hand off him as he stormed in the opposite direction. "Fuck this. I’m gonna go find the Church of…something or other. Amy, you in?"

A woman rose from the seat she’d made out of jagged and rusted metal, nodding. "Better than sweating my ass off here."

"Wait up, I’m coming too!" Sam jumped up, and Liam glared at his roommate’s back as he ran off to join the others.

Libby rubbed her forehead more violently than she had previously, yet made no effort to stop the rogue faction. There’s no controlling Conner, is there? "Anyone else wanna run off on their own? No? Good." She ended the opportunity period as soon as possible, though a few hands had been already mid-raise. They slowly slunk back down as she continued: "Ethan and Jean, you’re with me. Everyone else stays here, fortify what Ethan set up and make sure—"

"I’m coming with you guys." Liam piped up. Libby hid her irritation well as she looked at him.

"Not. A. Chance. You’d be dead weight and you know it. Go with that asshole, if you’re really so eager to die."

"I’m not stupid." He hissed. "I know I’m not as strong as the rest of you. But…that’s my sister. I’m not gonna sit here and twiddle my thumbs while she’s in danger for her life."

"I made an offer to Conner, but it applies to you. Come on, Liam. Don’t make me make you stay."

"Your threat worked against him, Libby, but it won’t work on me. He knew you could and would kick his ass. I know you can…but I also know you won’t." Liam countered. There was a heavy and tension-filled silence, filled only with Libby staring daggers at him before groaning.

"I know I told you to stand up for yourself more…but you picked the worst time to grow a pair. Fine. Do what you will. But I won’t be protecting you." She warned, though they both knew that wasn’t true. "Change of plans, Jean. Stay here. You guys," Libby looked at the others who hadn’t been a part of their lives this past decade. "Whenever you’re ready, we can get going."

Further Away, In The Near Distance..

"Beautiful, huh?" A voice spoke from near Denji. There was a man there, sitting alone upon a flat boulder the color of the rest of the desert around them. He had in his hand—one of three, there being two arms on his left side—a glass of hard liquor. A fiery sip went down the hatch between his every sentence. He was caked in mud and scars, and wore tattered rags for clothes. "Too bad I can’t get anywhere close. Assholes keep shooting arrows at me. Though it’s been a few hours…maybe they found someone else to fuck with." He chuckled and shook his head and took another swig. "Tracks with my luck. The one place I’m meant to be, where I know I have to go…I can’t get. Funny, isn’t it?" He changed his gaze to Denji, wearing a face worn from years of tireless struggle and constantly battling to simply survive.

"Don’t often see anyone else this far out in the shithole. Name’s Joseph, stranger. What’s your story?"

Vs. Mugen Zero

The ground around Zero shakes and floods. Though not planned, Uzi and Nicole's terrain effects end up combining with each other and Trio's attack, tossing water, ice, and rubble everywhere.

While the flames of Zero's murderous fighting spirit cannot be extinguished with water, Zero himself gets pushed around. Water carrying bits of debris splashes into his eyes and freezes to his face, eliciting a howl of fury. The plasma shots and Arcane Beam land successfully, but are peanuts compared to X and Sanji's attacks, which make a destructive impact, engulfing their surroundings in an explosion of fire, dust and steam.

The glow of Zero's eyes leaves a trail in the fog as he leaps up above Trio, launching a Zanku Hadoken down at the Evil Robot to make him flinch before trying to spike him to the ground with a diving stab. Upon landing, he goes for Sanji and uses Calamitous Arts, a three-hit combo of a spinning uppercut, overhead slam, and spin kick. The finishing kick blows away the fog kicked up by the prior explosion.

Iris, irritated that Zero ignored her, uses Lightning Flash. Pointing her own beam saber at Zero, a bolt of lightning leaps off the blade in a straight line at her foe.

X lands and waits until the fog clears, then fires his remaining Stock Charge Shots one after another.

Metal Sonic reaches out a hand and claws it, copying Silver the Hedgehog's psychic powers to try and immobilize Zero with a telekinetic grip.

Seeing Zero jump ahead, Sanji hit the ground and prepare himself for the combo, responding to the uppercut by trying to hit a downward kick.

Concassé! However, the move is mostly a defensive one. And unlikely to do damage to Zero if he goes through with his hit. It simply reduce the damage Sanji take, even if it doesn't negate it, with Sanji gritting his teeth as the damage goes through, black lightning flying forth from the point of impact due to him using Armament Haki to add to his defense and offense.

To his surprise, Sanji is blown back, but it give him a bit of a boost by launching him up in the air. There, Sanji flips himself in mid-air and kick at the air to launch himself back by a few feet, avoiding the overhead slam by throwing himself back. The cook hit the ground, sliding backwards and liting his left leg on fire as he stops himself from going in any further and charge ahead.

I'll douse these evil flames again and again if that's how you want it!

Diable Jambé! The ground around Sanji's feet shatter as he launch himself at Zero as a black and yellow blur, attempting to hit his spinning kick with one of his own, spinning in place. Bien cuit : GRILL SHOT! Sanji spins multiple times, his movement briefly making him look like a fiery tornado as he impacts Zero's kick with one of his own. The impact is briefer here, but all the more fiercer. Briefly, plumes of fire fly forth from the two men.

But sadly, Sanji does not win this.

W-what?!

In fact, to his surprise, he's blown back once again, being flung through nearby houses as Zero overwhelms him. Still, Sanji might have brought time for the group. And his leg, which has been visibly snapped in half by the kick, snap back in place as he kicks the air with it, launching himself back at the fight.

Sadly, he won't be able to make it for an attack this turn.

At least seaweed isn't here to see me get beat at my own game!

Seeing as Zero had opted to ignore her in favor of Trio and Sanji, Nicole decides to take advantage of this opportunity. Cracking her knuckles, she advances on her enemy and attempts to lay into him with a relentless barrage of Arcane Magic-coated fists and kicks before capping off her assault via aiming a well-placed wheel kick squarely at his face.

Vs. Mugen Zero

Trio responds to the Zanku Hadoken by launching a burst of Psycho Power Evil Energy from his hand to intercept and destroy the attack. His next action is to avoid his sword spike but then follow Zero down to Earth. He subsequently combines Overdrive Ostrich and Quick Man's weapons to fire a frankly ridiculous amount of crescent shaped energy projectiles at Zero that also happen to arc like a boomerang if they miss.

Denji

Denji turns to look at Joseph, eyeing him over. He immediately find something rather bizarre about him. Something that instantly tipped him off that the dude was no normal dude but something more. Something underserving of being called dude at least.

It was the scars. Ladies love scars - or at least, Denji's brief research into what "ladies" like had taught him that. He didn't really know why, because scars meant you kind of got your ass kicked at some point, right? And he couldn't really get one due to how he healed his every wound when fighting. But that said, Denji himself knew an old guy with scars. And he was badass. So...

... Denji frowns. Geez, if a scarred old guy couldn't make it, obviously the zombies had to be tough.

Hi I'm Denji.

Denji eyed the Anger Juice the man was sipping. He was a bit thirsty but decided not to take any. He didn't know why but the sight of it made him decide to think of anything else. I was told scars are sexy and attract ladies. Do you agree with that, old guy? Denji blurts out, wishing to move on to something else at any cost. With that done, he then glances up at the walls.

And then it hit him. The zombies could use tools. He didn't care much for arrows because he fought guns pretty often and guns are better than arrows - but these zombies had to be pretty smart to use tools. Good thing to take into account when going forward - the zombies were deviously cunning.

I'm going to run into them. I think their arrows will hit me, but they won't kill me 'coz I'm Chainsaw Man. Denji eyes Jospeh's reaction, wishing to see if the GGG leader had spread tales of him. But then I'll heal it off and I won't get good scars. Or they'll be at my butt or something. He frowns.

In-Sanity

They watch Lily integrate into the system.

"Are we within the digital world? How cool!", Nina shouts.

Indeed, the Rollers have some questions.

"How many different creatures are there?"

Are there different plants, too?

And more importantly: What is this place?

The Triplets look at the architecture and peculiar ambiance of Khemri; however, they aren't distracted by all that luxury.

Ta answers Libby: We are so ready as you are... But I think we are too much people. Those zombies, mummies or whatever will find us.

Te: We should split the group to take on the different missions.

Ti: We, the Ta-Te-Ti Triplets, would split too.

Ladwin considered the two options for bait, from the two who’d offered themselves up. His respect for both Kana and Joy increased, for this role required a special type of bravery…or stupidity. Regardless, there were here two paths ahead. Deciding which life to risk above another was never an easy decision, even if they offered to sacrifice their safety for duty; it hadn’t been an easy ask during his time as a soldier, and it wasn’t now. But it was something which had to be done regardless.

Joy brought up a good point with his bomb…but it would mean his death as a surety. To blow up an assailing drowner would mean blowing himself up, and in all likelihood, damaging the bridge as well. Destroying part of the main route eastward would effectively trap most of the people here on the Crown Plains, seeing as most couldn’t swim, and even thinking about crossing the river with a cart but no bridge was folly. Besides, Ladwin was no stranger to recognizing nervousness, and Joy was no exception. If a soldier wasn’t absolutely resolute in his task, a soldier could not be expected to perform it.

Which was just one reason why he felt Kana was a better choice. She didn’t seem to be as nervous regarding the matter than the alternative, and her reasoning was conclusive enough: a water dragon was perfect for the task. When battling outside of water, drowners engaged in standard melee battle, but in their domain, they much preferred to grab their prey and drag them deeper and deeper underwater just as they got close to the surface, hence the name. Kana (presumably) possessing an ability to breathe underwater would be an invaluable advantage. And so it was her that Ladwin endorsed for the role.

Hells, he’d have done it himself, had Kana not stepped forward and if he hadn’t Mia to think of. But as it was, his list of priorities was order as such, from greatest to least: Mia, his people, then himself. The reason they were going out of their way to deal with these drowners was for his people; and their safety stood higher on his list than his, so if necessary, he’d have made the sacrifice himself. But so too was Mia, and on the list, the princess was highest of them all. Mia was his duty; he couldn’t throw his honor or his life away in any sacrifice other than one made for her safety.

They moved across the bridge and then right beside it, to the shore opposite of Ybicche. Shadows from the rustling pines passed over them, granting slight clemency from the midday sun with each breeze. The ground was soft, their boots sinking into mud as they stood by the riverbank, and lilies upon pads grew in the shallows. Cattails gathered at the tips of thin reeds, slouched over the softly flowing river.

Mia was standing a safe distance back, at Ladwin’s instruction. Her hand was perched over the ivory dagger at her waist. The knight himself had cast only a momentary side-eye at Alice’s newly procured handheld cannon of curious design, having learned already not to be surprised at anything these people did anymore. As long as it works, and as long as she doesn’t miss and hit one of us instead..

"Stomp your feet once you’re in the water," Ladwin imparted some final words of wisdom. "Make sure to make as much of a splash and disturb as much of the riverbed as you can. It’ll draw them out for sure. Drowners act in packs, so they’ll try to overwhelm you, utilize their numbers to drag you down. Be safe—the rest of us can’t breathe down there like you can. If they pull you under, we can’t help." He reached a hand to the claymore on his back and pulled it from the scabbard. The knight slid his white helm over his focused face and readied the blade, nodding. His voice was muffled by the helmet: "Whenever you’re ready."

And whenever she was ready indeed, for not long after Kana stepped foot into the river, assuming she’d done what Ladwin suggested, being as loud and clear about it as possible, the action would begin quickly.

First were the bubbles, as the drowners rose from the layers upon layers of muck at the floor of the river. Then came the smell, the horrible and putrid stench of death. What they could smell earlier had been but an appetizer, for this was the real deal. The air reeked of rotting flesh. Next were the ripples and sludge making their way to the surface as something moved in the murk of the water, and finally came the drowners themselves, exploding all at once from the river.

They were grotesque little creatures, humanlike and pale blue like a bloated corpse. They moved with an animalistic and low-witted gait, screeching and hollering with every action. Their heads were large and decorated with round and beady eyes. They had sparse straggles of hair, long and black and clumped together. Between its clawed fingers were membranes of skin for swimming, between its plump lips a set of fishlike fangs. They were covered in a thick and glossy slime, which both made it difficult to actually grab them while being generally very unpleasant to touch.

Three of them burst just beneath Kana and did just what Ladwin said: they attempted to grapple her and overpower her with their numbers, pulling her further from shore and deeper towards the river’s depths. Meanwhile, eight other drowners emerged from the water, more spread out than the first three. These ones all rushed towards the bank, clambering through the river and meeting the group in battle.

Two approached Joy and one targeted Grace. The two attempted to tackle the former to the ground and begin ripping into him, while the latter was met with an attempt at cutting his throat open with a swipe of the drowner’s claws. One approached Medicine with a flurry of clawed swings from both arms, as well as another which rushed towards Ladwin.

Two dashed towards Alice, but while one took the straightforward approach, clumsily run-wading through the waist-high shallows, the other fell forwards face-first and disappeared under the surface. What at first might’ve seemed nothing more than an embarrassing, if not somewhat goofy display of clumsiness proved a tactical maneuver: for while the first had likely been gunned down, this other drowner resurfaced once again, much closer to Alice. Its lone arm shot from the muck and grasped blindly at Alice, meaning to pull her off her feet once it made contact. One surfaced near Taye, hissing and growling at her from a safe distance. This was little more than a distraction, though, for a drowner previously unaccounted for, which had come from much further away than any of the initial group of eight plus Kana’s attackers. This one leapt at Taye from behind, attempting to land on her back and sink its fangs into her shoulder while the first finally moved in, attempting to claw at the flesh of her face. The final member of the initial eight approached Hange, dashing towards her and swinging its right arm in an attempt to cut across her stomach, but there was something which visually differentiated this one from the others: in that hand was a wolf’s jawbone. Perhaps not the most impressive weapon of all time, but a weapon nonetheless, and the implications of a drowner—ordinarily unintelligent and animalistic—wielding it were terrifying.

That is a lot of questions. Let’s do this one by one…

“Pyra” lightly nudges Honey.

|Honey|

I would say this place is… partly digital. There is an underlying digital system that helps run the place, but this place is more like a parallel reality.

|Lily| (If Lily is commenting on a meta thing it’s presented in italics and no one can hear her in universe)

Writer-thing, the omnipresent PriPara themes becomes even more omnipresent once you compare Data-Alliance City to the titular location.

All the really meta digital stuff is usually only accessed by “Pyra” anyways.

Honey will then answer the question about the creatures and plants. Kass’s sign now has the words    LORE DUMP ALERT    as “Pyra” plays Tough Guy Alert on Victoria.

|Honey|

If I remember correctly… I think any mythical being from all across the world can be found here. I think three to four years ago a mutual from my school gained some godlike powers and went back in time to create a sanctuary for all sorts of mythical beings during the height of monster fiction in the Victorian ages? Then the rising popularity of urban fantasy and more tolerant views after the World Wars allowed them to integrate with the humans here.

(Furious note taking sounds from Bluster)

Note that this is my take on the “Yukari is Maribel” theory.

The plants are part of a larger phenomenon involved with an overseer being here. For the first 7 days of every month, this city gains an overlay of various biomes and habitats across the different districts like with that larger map, often giving off some video game vibes. Therefore, we can have grass and flowers in this area, and then we go further north and find sand and cacti. Outside of the phenomenon, this place is a regular city.

The last question is harder. Is this a rhetorical question?

“Pyra” is basically sweating from not expecting such a question.

I personally see the City as my home, and a place to take a break and just walk around after a big event in the Arena.

Kass nods as well.

"-damn!"

clik-clik-clik-CLACK

With the rapid clicking of gears, Alice's cannon fires, launching the compressed earthen projectile at the oncoming Drowner. She hadn't dismissed the other one- after all, Europan fauna usually attacked in packs. How would this be any different?

She quickly shoves her cannon in her bag, drawing her sabre. She notices the arm shooting out from below, and quickly slashes downwards at it. She grits her teeth, letting out a tense sigh.

"Just like old times, huh, Stelph?"

Memories of her past crew, now? Well, this is the first adventure she'd been on in a while...

...

Something stirs very faintly within Alice...

...but it isn't time yet.

Confluence of Fates

Oh, right. That thing.

Iron Bundle falls over its own skis rather comically as it looses all of its speed buffs- only to get hit be the massive beam of energy and get knocked out.

"No!! Rocket, return! Go, Metagross!"

Out with one, in with another. As the shrapnel falls, Metagross tanks it, making a slight sound of pain before righting itself.

"Now! Use Flash Cannon!"

An orb of brilliant energy charges up in front of Metagross, before it fires the built-up energy directly at Soulstealer.

Hyrule Field

An inconspicuous door appears in the side of a rock formation out in the grassy plains of Hyrule Field.

I say 'inconspicuous', but... It's been sealed shut by magic, and an evil aura emanates from within.

Space Fortress Gravitas

Narktus is checking in on Filia when his bracer beeps. Examining it, he sees that the door has appeared.

"...He's here," he mutters to himself.

"Filia. When you are ready for action, I will send you after a new enemy. Defeating this opponent will grant you an artifact of power to make you tougher, should Raex go after you again. When you are ready, report to me in the Throne Room."

Space Fortress Gravitas

Filia is sat up, feet dangling over the infirmary bed, IVs still hooked to her forearm. Whatever painkiller was flowing through her body granting her a drunken stupor was counteracted by the sobering sting of a near-death defeat, and the anxious train of thought sailing back and forth between the edges of her mind. She doesn't seem particularly present, not picking up on Narktus's muttering and making no acknowledgment of his follow-up statement beyond a gentle nod.

Amidst the unending noise in her mind, a quiet, familiar voice has continued to build since her battle with Raex but has not grown so loud she can pick it out amidst the noise. Whoever it belongs to, this voice is trying to speak to Filia, but as she has continued to recover, it has grown dimmer. She can only stand to focus on the voice for a few moments before her thoughts return to the endless, fearful train again.

   You should have run.

Filia furrows her brow, placing both hands on her temples, massaging her pounding skull in a vain attempt to cleanse the thoughts. After a few seconds, Filia plants her feet on the ground, standing up from the bed. Her legs weaken beneath her, simultaneously tensing up and losing all shape in a series of spasms that nearly send the demoness crashing down to the floor, but she merely crumples for a moment.

With a shallow breath and a brief grunt, Filia yanks the IVs from her arm, twin streams of blood streaking down her arm, leaving a slightly purple hue against her blue skin. Taking a deep breath, Filia buries her train of thought beneath a forced thought, Narktus's mission. Waving a hand in a circular motion above her head, Filia disappears into a plume of sand.

Space Fortress Gravitas - Throne Room - Three Hours Later

Emerging from a humanoid-sized dust devil, Filia arrives in the throne room, looking only slightly better than she had in the infirmary hours prior. Filia stretches as she emerges, wincing a little as the demoness reaches her stretch's peak. Grunting slightly, Filia searches around for Narktus, a heaviness set upon her eyes. She hasn't slept much, but the demoness's focus is clear, a steeled look upon her irises.

The demoness locks her gaze on Narktus, disregarding his comment on her fugue statue in the infirmary. Filia doesn't assume Narktus means anything bad by his comment, but addressing it would only send her reeling back into that awful train of thought. The demoness nods, raising an idle hand.

"When have I ever not been?"

She asked rhetorically, the sarcasm very evident. Following up quickly, Filia's tone turns neutral.

   "Details, please."

Storms, Milo

As Bu CUE Leader leapt at his mech, Cittufeni promptly fell backwards. The beam sabers sizzled into the muscle-like material his avatar was made of, cutting through it with swift ease. Smoking “wounds” were impressed upon his form: while the enemy’s attacks hadn’t yet severed a limb, they were growing close. He reached a hand out in an effort to grab hold of the Leader’s neck, and attempted to dig the fingers of his other into its head and try to tear it off while being careful to avoid the sabers.

——

He clawed his way away from death’s door with the aid of Milo, and awoke gasping.

"The boy!" Rather than a thanks or a statement of his shock at still being alive, the first thing the man said was this. "Where is…" He attempted to scramble to his feet, only to howl in pain and collapse against the tree once more. A bloody coughing fit went up from the man. Milo’s healing, while largely successful in most ways, hadn’t accounted for the major issue of his armor. It had been smashed into his chest, through his ribcage and vital organs. His voice was hoarse and scratchy; he reached to grab hold of the vampire’s wrist. "My nephew. Find him. Take him to Riverw…" His words dropped off, and his grip lost its strength.

As his hand fell uselessly to his side, a small trinket bounced out of his grasp and landed amidst the fresh trail of blood, painting one side red: a gold coin, with the head of a man upon one side and a dragon on the other.
