Benjy tapped his fingers against the wheel of the van, letting the rough fabric of his vest itch against his back, the faint sound coming from the radio masking the noise of his endless meddling with the gun besides the driver's seat. The van wasn't anything presentable. It was a meek black machine, the kind of thing you'd buy with the smallest amount of money as possible... or the kind of thing you'd buy if you were on the list of the Ten Most Dangerous Criminals of several countries, one of them being the country you were standing in.

Reaching underneath his seat, Benjy pulled out a small leather book, a copy of some religious book from a forgotten religion that he carried around with him ever since he borrowed that book from his high school's library. It's funny: he was looking for books on ancient religions for a dumb hobby, and he ended up finding his religion.

"You're not going to read that aloud, are ya?" The gruff, extremely deep voice knocked Benjy out of his self-inflicted moment of loneliness, and he looked over his shoulder to see Scales. Funny how he still called her Scales... she had told him her name years ago, days after they were empowered, but the nickname stuck with her. But while the nickname had remained the same, a lot had changed about Scales. She had grown to almost nine feet tall over the years... she had also growna tail that was rubbing against the ceiling of the van. But most importantly... she was the mother of his child.

Benjy didn't hold back the smile that came to his face as he watched Scales cradle the little bundle of joy against her chest, swishing it back and forth gently after another fruitless session of trying to figure out how breastfeeding works when you have the powers of Killer Croc. But, there she was. Little Amy. "This is a prayer for the road. Wouldn't hurt, now, would it?"

"Prayers don't win fights." Scales replied, gruffly, reaching one massive finger to caress her child's cheek. "Prayers can't knock down Cornelius or... him." She looked up at him, her features betraying her fear. "Are you sure about this? About going to meet Johnny?"

Benjy sighed, leaning back on the driver's seat and massaging his forehead. "The events that led to all of this? They weren't Johnny's fault. They weren't our fault. It was just a... series of unfortunate coincidences. And I think that... if we tell Johnny about our current situation, he'll help us. I-I think—"

"Think? Benjy— we have a child to take care of. Outside, somewhere in this godforsaken country, there's an entire group dedicated to finding us and taking Amy from us and experimenting on us and I'm NOT going to go through that! And I'm also not ending like Luna or Victor or—" Scales roared, wincing when her anger woke up Amy. " No, no, I'm not angry with you, my little girl, please go back to sleep... "

"What alternative do we have?" Benjy mused out loud, sighing again. "I-I... I mean... look. With what happened last week... we're a dying breed, alright? And I want to make sure that we at least consider every option before... before running away for another year, okay?" He looked at her through the rear view mirrors, and their eyes locked on one another. "Okay?" He asked again, fingers running over the keys before starting the car and stepping on the pedals, driving into the fog.

"Okay." Scales muttered, looking from her child to the sign outside. A large, green and yellow sign which announced, in large, bright, white letters visible from any point in the street.

YOU ARE NOW ENTERING THE CITY OF HIGHTOWN. POPULATION:

And scribbled over the population counter in red paint:

BEWARE THE SUPERMAN.

James Madison High, Hightown, Connecticut

Johnathan slowly got calmer and calmer after his ears were covered by metal, but it was clear he was very much still in pain. It wasn't until Zia started helping him that he really settled down, taking deep breaths through his new, much more fit lungs, the gritted teeth being replaced by a weak smile. "I'm good. I won't dwell on it... I won't dwell on it..." He gingerly reached for his ears, removing the metal from inside. Once his ears were uncovered, he fell to one knee, wobbling weakly, but the man gulped down his fears and stood up. "I'm good. I'm good." He placed his hands over his chest, taking another deep breath. "I won't dweel on it. I'm good." Johnathan opened his eyes, and smiled again, before remembering what he had done. "... s-sorry for that, guys."

Scales, meanwhile, stood up from her chair and started walking over to the window Johnathan had flew through, putting one leg outside with ease, flicking away shards of glass which foolishly tried to poke her body. "Don't know about you guys, but I ain't gonna hang around here much longer. I've got superpowers, I wanna use them. Not spend the entire day studying." She pointed at Luna. "You with me, Bolt Girl?"

Ice Girl Sarah piped up from her little trip on the internet. "Okay. I've got two interesting news... ambulances were called to the home of one of the high school's students. Seems like she went to sleep yesterday and woke up today in a coma. Could be an empowered student... and the other news... well, it's not so much as news as it is me snooping on police scanners." She showed a transcript of the police scanner being updated live. "They're talking a lot about a liquor store robbery on a nearby neighborhood, one filled with people whose kids study here. So this robber could be an empowered student... I know I'd do some nasty things with my powers if they weren't so..." Sarah looked at her almost transparent hands. "... so one-note. Not robbery, of course! I'm not like that."

Benjy, on the other hand, was trying to fix the stuff Johnathan's arrival had broken- or at least make it seem like Johnathan had never crash landed there, by putting broken desks together and then trying to put them in an upright position to give the illusion that everything was just fine. Jessica contentedly watched as Benjy worked and worked, satisfied with not doing anything.

I see they have not discovered my handiwork yet. Well, I suppose it takes time.

Terry looked extremely relieved that Johnathan was alright now, and walked over to him, dismissing his Light once it became clear he had calmed down. He noted Johnathan's wincing, but decided if need be he could heal him up of any harm done.

"Its alright, we're all dealing with problems related to our powers." Terry himself suppressed a slight gritting of his teeth - what exactly had Void done?

He looked around, grateful Benjy was doing this work, and wishing he could help in some way, but it seemed his powers weren't useful for that.

Unless...no. That was out of the question. Reality is not a toy. Not something to be warped and changed. Especially not for something like this.

Locker Room, James Madison High

Meanwhile, The Void's handiwork. It had always considered Itself a being of destruction, of the act of evil borne of the desire to do good. Destruction would always precede Creation.

The teenager Trent Richford was not someone the more moral members of the high school would miss, and he was someone Terry Bramford secretly hated. Oh yes, Bramford was too busy being the golden boy to really show any amount of hatred. But The Void knew.

The Void knew everything.

He was a relentless bully, this Trent boy, pumped himself full of steroids, and was very, very unkind to young women. He got away with it because his father was rich. The standard story that never seemed to change because al the heroes seemed to want to protect "the world as is".

Trent was allowed to be a football small town hero, and would have eventually succeeded his father as CEO no matter how little brain matter remained in his skull after all that drinking and cocaine.

By now the football coach was showing up to a meeting with Trent about his role in an upcoming game. Except Trent would be quite incapable of that. Because The Void had killed him. Every time Terry did a "good" deed, The Void did an "evil" one.

His face locked in an eternal looking scream, Trent's entire body had seemed to have imploded, crunched inward into a disgusting looking little ball of flesh, marrow and liquids. The Void considered it a representation of the teenager's soul.

Only one of his arms had been spared of this disgusting demise, and the finger nails on the hand had been ripped off, the hand writing on the wall in blood, WELCOME TO A NEW AGE.

As Johnny rose Zia slowly, gently released her fingers from his temple and, after a few moments more within his head she took her gaze from his. She stumbled back, dizzy and a wave of fatigue coming over her – like she’d just came out of the pool from a 4km swim, blood rushing to her head. Nevertheless, super-kid wasn’t screaming anymore and, while she had stopped forcing his pain into a corner of his mind he was beginning to cope alone. She’d done something helpful and that admittedly made he feel good. Better than she had about herself for a long while. In a few moments Zi had her breath back and smiled kindly to John, “Hey, don’t stress – you’re not exactly the only one. Maybe the first to break a classroom but still…” She pointed out.

It seemed everyone was eager to elope and try out their new powers. Well, everyone except Anna which was not entirely surprising given her reputation. Benjy was trying to fix what Johnny had broken so Zi wouldn’t have to bleach any brains again, she wanted to help but he seemed to have it handled. So far as she knew she didn’t have any telepathy, “Not sure we should be running out and causing havoc - I don’t think the general public will enjoy our powers as much as we do, yeah?” The purple punk pointed out with a shrug. She wasn’t exactly eager to stay here and pretend she didn’t have a whole town in her head but frankly she didn’t like missing classes.

Something Sarah said piqued Zia’s interest – a girl in a coma. One of the students missing was called Ruth. A name the mysterious entity on Cornelius’ phone shared. She hadn’t been focusing on his side conversation up to now because he frankly talked and thought so much. In fact he had the Void lobbying in his head as well for some reason. The static was harder to clear right now so she couldn’t probe further and instead settled for casting him a concerned glance. Zi sunk into a nearby, unbroken chair and sighed, “Shit, I dunno what to do with all this crap.”

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”

Shooting Zia a brief dirty glare, Cornelius slings his messenger bag over his shoulder and holds his phone in his left hand. Walking up to Johnathon, Cornelius stands back a few feet and starts rubbing at his left arm to reflect his awkwardness. "I know we don't have a very major connection due to my infrequent visits to your club, but..." Turning his eyes to actually look at Johnny, Cornelius continues "I always thought you deserved a lot of respect."

Clearing his throat, Cornelius speaks up "Everyone! Two of our fellow students, who may be empowered like us, are currently out and about. We must attend to them so we can get them to work with us or at least affirm they're one of us. The last thing we want are aimless superhumans just causing chaos. Thus, attending to them is vastly more important than us attending school. I suggest that Zia attends to the comatose girl so she can try awakening her, while I would request Ice Girl and Ms. Fell to help me confront the robber. If the robber possesses an ability that would render the holding capabilities of our powers worthless, then someone with super strength would make an excellent redundancy."

His eyes going from Benjy to Scales, Cornelius speaks once more. "I would also advise, should we decide to simply leave school, that we go in at least groups of two. For example, I would suggest that Benjy accompanies Miss Scales to provide range and to keep people from paying her too much attention. Though, for those that don't think we should leave... Johnny's physical change is just too apparent, Shooter will wonder why the boy's now a supermodel after just one day. Even if he covers up, Shooter will still want to know who the new student is. Thus if we want to even pretend there's a masquerade, we all really should leave the school."

Crossing his arms behind his back, Cornelius speaks resolutely "Some of you may not think we deserve these powers, while others don't believe we're now burdened to use them for great things. There are even a few who don't think we should be heroes... The truth is, we are like gods or eventually will be. We have powers far surpassing mankind's natural capacities, and we must not only be unashamed of ourselves but we must also use our powers for righteous goals. Thus, even if none of you side with me, I will confront that empowered robber and meet the comatose girl alone if I must."

Going up to the left side of the board and leaning against the wall, Cornelius brought the phone close to his face. However, seeing what appeared to be a concerned glance from Zia, Cornelius frowns and sighs a bit before thinking at her. "Zia, I must inform you of something. During Johnathon's freakout, the Void contacted me and offered... To be my personal Shinigami. I would of rejected due to my beliefs, but you telling me not to help Johnny made me realized I'll have quite the difficulty in getting anyone here to work with me. Thus, since the unholy abomination was actually willing to take my suggestions on what to kill, I told it to focus on evil. That way the Void won't be killing as many innocents, and in the process would actually be making the world a better place in its mindless pursuit of causing destruction. I don't exactly approve of its murderous nature, but if I rejected it the damn thing would just kill anyone it wanted. Moral high ground has no point if it hinders your own intentions after all."

With that done, Cornelius begins typing to Ruth "Ruth, don't worry. I just asked a telepath here to go to your comatose body to try waking it up. I would go as well, however someone else from the fire is out robbing currently. I need to confront them, as nobody else has really expressed interest in heroism. However, Ruth, how skilled have you become so far? I know this is a bad time to ask, but since you can't return to your body currently I think you should try making the internet a better place. Try destroying viruses, blocking out hackers, anything you think would make the internet better. If you don't want to, that is perfectly understandable. I just wanted to suggest something for you to do while waiting for the telepath."

The message sent, Cornelius gives Lord Sentry a look and tries mentally calling to the Void "Have you killed someone yet? I would like to know if it is a death I'll agree with Shinigami-san."

"Wh-" Anna sputtered. Did Neil not listen to her? "No. How will you explain it if Mr. Shooter comes in and finds none of us here? Let the police handle the robbery. The tracker - " Here, Anna shot Ice Girl a dirty look. Wasn't hacking into those things supposed to be illegal? " - Never said anything about powers or whatever."

The Void answered, Indeed I have. Whenever Sentry does a "good" deed - Shooter's MIRACULOUS revival - I must do an "evil" one, for whatever worth the labels are. I trust you are familiar with one Trent Richford. Around a year ago, he got away with being improper with a girl at a party. He was a consummate bully, enjoyed exerting himself on those weaker than him, used drugs without consequence, including ones that would make the aforementioned crimes easier for him.

The Void then said in an almost giddy voice, knowing Zia and Cornelius were both probably listening, And now, he's dead - crushed inward just as much as he enjoyed crushing others. A statement of irony.

Noticing that Zia was finished with her work, Ciro walked over to the group. Johnathan's freakout had been too sudden for him to react, and he felt it a bad idea to interrupt while Zia was using her power. Still, he wished he could've done something to help calm the poor guy down.

"Anne's right. Shooter's not gonna think that we've all got superpowers just because Johnathan looks different, but he will think something's up if a whole class of students just disappear. It probably won't even be that hard to convince him that there's a workout routine that's this good."

Besides, all this talk about them being 'gods' and having 'righteous goals'? It was overkill. They were kids, not heroes of justice perfectly capable of taking down criminals. He was happy about Amy's agreement to let him join them at the library- he preferred taking things slow to all of this action.

Man, he was way more suited for reasoning with younger kids than he was with superpowered ones. He walked over to where Zia was sitting.

"You alright?" He'd noticed the way she'd stumbled after helping Johnathan. If she was seriously starting to feel woozy from this, then whatever Cornelius wanted from her power could wait. "Wanna take a bathroom break? We can tell Shooter you weren't feeling well if he asks- which doesn't seem that far from the truth."

Blake grabbed his bag and took out a second bottle of cola as he finished the first one. He threw the now-empty bottle into the air above him and shot a green blast of energy at it, resulting in something that looked like it came out of a car crusher landing just next to the nearest bin. Despite the misplaced aim Blake smirked at his own showmanship; with one working eye, such aim was previously far out of his reach but his mystic blasts seemed to hit their target without much need for visual targeting. He quickly jotted down the rest of the people-power-danger list and shoved his notebook into his pocket.

"You're -"

overthinking

Only Anna received this thought, even though the speech was intended for everyone.

"-it. He'll just think you"

righteous warriors of justice

"were peer pressured out of here by us-"

fucking

"-delinquents."

Visibly annoyed by his patchy speech, he groaned in frustration. As he spoke, he messed with the ring on his right hand. As he had before, he started coughing painfully and took a large drink before talking again.

Way I see it-

Despite being communicated telepathically, everyone would get this thought.

"-we all run off now we can get some practice and some fucking answers on those students I've already forgotten the names-"

Just giving Ms. Fell and then the boy that spoke in response a look saying 'Really?', Cornelius pockets his phone and speaks up. "Shooter did not react well to seeing Bolt Girl suddenly transform despite him having to have some idea a student was there. Then there was his awkward glance at Nightcrawler II's feet. Do you honestly believe he's going to react well to seeing Super-Johnny? It would be specially bad if he realizes this is the same Johnny in charge of the D&D Club, and honestly I believe Shooter is smart enough to realize Johnny should not be that structured. Seriously, you think he'll be dumb enough to believe in an overnight uber-fitness program? If he was that idiotic he wouldn't be allowed to be principal. Thus, we either force Johnny to leave or some of us accompany him. However-"

Stopping as he hears the telepathy boy start speaking, Cornelius waits silently for him to finish. Straightening out his shirt, Cornelius puts his right hand to his chin before speaking again. "I would like to point out, any number of people could of heard or saw Johnny's crash. In fact, for all we know there could be police officers on their way. No sane school would just dismiss hearing a cacophony or a broken window as something unimportant. Besides-"

Holding out his hands and curving his fingers, desks starting to shake slightly, Cornelius continues "If the robber Ice Girl mentioned is one of us, we have no idea what their powers are. What if they acquired Wolverine's powers? The police officers aren't going to be able to subdue them with any kind of ease. Worst, what if their power allows them some form of control over others? The police officers could either be enslaved or killing each other if they approach our fellow. Finally, if the police do realize their superhuman abilities and captures them, they probably aren't going to think they're the only one. They'll question them to find out why they have powers, and what if they mention they weren't the only one? The police wouldn't be thrilled to just let a bunch of superpowered teenagers run loose, and it would be insane if they didn't try to at least spy on us. Thus confronting the robber is more about preserving our safety. Therefore, is anyone interested in helping me confront the superhuman robber?"

Zia hated to admit it but Neil did have a point about one thing – if they stayed here it would only be a matter of time before even an addled Principal Shooter noticed the not subtle aspects of their powers. Ciro was more optimistic in that regard but could they take that risk? And those kids couldn’t be left to terrorize the town, intentionally or otherwise. If they couldn’t be persuaded to tone it down by Neil or the others then there could be serious aftermath, however. Either way, they had to do something for them and that poor ‘comatose’ girl. She offered a worried smile to her friend, concerned about her wellbeing again, “I’m… I’m just a little fuzzy from organising Johnny’s thoughts. But a little fresh air could be good.” Zi admitted. The comatose girl could wait a few minutes for the static to stop screaming.

Still, as Zia rose a little shakily from her chair she heard Neil’s explanation run through her head. A deal with the devil… or close enough. It won’t end well, Neil – you know that. Killing people? It’s more powerful than all of us, and cunning. I guess killing assholes is better than randomly but it’s definitions might be a little different from ours… Then the Void spoke to him, it knew she was there but seemed to relish the disgusting news of what it had done to some bully. Oh. Oh shit. The fuck have you done, Void? Zi’s eyes widened as she realised a nearby voice had vanished from her head – a small difference but she noticed. She tried not to show any further reaction as they all had enough to worry about, heading out of the room with Ciro, Neil, I’ll still help Ruth but you have to tell me just what you’re playing at with her and everyone else. Not your usual glazed-eyed dreams, the plans. She wasn’t going to help him ‘cleanse’ the world but she felt the other New Agers needed her help.

One little smile on Cornelius' face, he thinks at Zia. "Zia, its really only a deal with the devil if the devil couldn't already screw you over at anytime. No, the damn thing is probably just amusing itself. Kept referencing Death Note at me, it even specifically told me I could write down names into a notebook for it to read. I know very well that damn thing just wants to destroy everything. However it does seem to be weakened, since it requested I remake the Sentry Serum as part of our deal. Though..."

His smile turning into a little frown, Cornelius thinks once more. "I can't trust anyone here, thus why I've kept Ruth secret. They'll either be terrified of her or wish to use her for their petty meaningless agendas. Currently, I'm just being her friend however. I aim to eventually convince her to erase every depraved website, permanently delete viruses from the net and best of all deny hacking. Safer cleaner network is something you can get behind no? I wouldn't force her to carry out my plans however, and I be very grateful if you went to help her now. Course, if she can't return to her body on her own, then I'll have to request that you use your telepathy to cheat yourself into being a genetic and mechanical genius. Installing a network hub so she can control her body again would be good."

With that done, Cornelius mentally calls out to the Void. "Shinigami-san, that is a good start. However too many dead bodies at the school would just draw too much attention to all of us. Thus may I request the next kill to be a human trafficker? I don't want people thinking that shit is okay for the new age after all."

Talking about criminal takedowns and testing their powers outside only made Ciro more convinced that they should stay put. He could understand not wanting to feel trapped in here- heck, that's why he and Zia were stepping out for a breather- but trying to do the police's job seemed too dangerous. Not all of them had magical healing prowess, after all, and they were hardly all experts with what they did have.

"Weren't you the one who said that people 'actively look to deny the fantastic'? I'm not saying Shooter is dumb, I'm saying that he's way more likely to believe something unrealistic over something that should be impossible. In any case, we should let Johnathan get a say in what he wants to do rather than forcing him out."

Talk later, help now. He stopped trying to push the point and instead walked with Zia out the room. Arguing wasn't going to get them anywhere, and he was aware that he didn't have the power (literally or figuratively) to change their mind by much. What he could do is help a friend through their mind pains.

He let out a deep breath upon stepping out into the corridor- he hadn't been aware of how stuffy the room felt until it was gone. "You know, it's not like I hate lessons, but it's not often that I wish I could be in one instead of having free time like this."

Anna looked around at her classmates and sighed. "You're really set on this, aren't you? I guess I can't stop you... but you'll still need someone to run interference." What could she do anyways? Tell on them?

Zia was glad to be out of the study hall, even if she could still hear their thoughts it was a little easier to breathe when you didn’t have to listen to their words as well. The space let her work on letting the thoughts go and finding her own but Neil still worried her, The Void’s sense of ‘amusement’ isn’t trivial when it can murder on a whim or worse. That Sentry Serum… I don’t think you really want to give that to it. It’s not good if it wants it that badly. Zi didn’t know what to do about The Void or what it had done to the bully. She breathed slowly and looked to Ciro in genuine thanks, “I know, I’ve never been so eager for pointless assignments and pointless angst. Who would-a thunk it?” She agreed with her perpetually disheveled friend.

I don’t know anything about ‘cheating’ my way to expertise but I’ll try and get her back to her body or something to help her. Heh, cleaning all the smut on the internet will certainly be enough to keep her busy until I get to the hospital.

“I’ll be okay, Ciro. Helping Johnny deal with all his super-senses was just more… intensive than most of the stuff I’ve done today.” Zia shrugged, wandering down the empty halls with him and feeling better on the whole, “Not to mention trying to figure out just what the hell is going on. And that Neil guy… I worried about what he’s trying to do. And who he’s trying to recruit.” She slouched against the wall and looked over her friend, “You know, you must be the only one from last night who hasn’t shown off their powers. You got invisibility right?”

Blake listened as the others talked and considered their options. He looked over to Cornelius, unaware of his weird new ally, and started communicating with him.

Your plan is weird shit and I need to start on that; I'm not agreeing with you. But-

This time, the segue between thought and speech was actually intentional.

"I'll help. If you've got a location I can get us there quick."

Blake wasn't normally one to jump to heroics but he saw this as self-preservation or at the very least moral experimentation. Plus he wanted a chance to practice his teleportation.

"Aha, yeah, at least essays aren't that dangerous for your health." Ciro glanced at Zia while he joked, wondering if she was as okay as she was saying. As friendly as they were, there'd never really been a previous occasion where they'd discussed any big troubles. Now Zia could see into his head- he couldn't be mad about that, though, when she couldn't help it- which caused him to think about what was going on in her own noggin.

Aaaand she can totally probably hear all that. Uh. You don't need to talk about anything if you don't want to.

He continued into actual speech. "It's really cool how you can help people like that. Just, y'know, make sure you're not hurting yourself by doing it." He smiled. "Seriously, I'm taking you to the nurse if you start getting nosebleeds."

"As for Cornelius... I mean, I can't say I'm pleased with how the world is now. But brainwashing? Becoming 'gods' and overturning society? That's the sort of talk that gets you locked up. And he's not exactly, uh, courteous when making his points either. But if he gets enough power to back it up..." He grimaced briefly, before turning back to Zia with a grin. "Serious stuff aside, Professor X and Magneto? Were you two best buddies before this?"

The mention of his own powers prompted him to look at his hand, remembering how it had vanished this morning. "Oh, yeah, I guess. I need- I mean, I think I need to concentrate to make it work. And it's, ah, kinda distracting back in there." It'd also helped him to stay calmer, he supposed, just focusing on the other powers rather than his own. It hadn't really affected his body or mind that badly, at least as far as he could tell. He couldn't help but feel pity again towards the kids who weren't so lucky.

"Becoming gods? Not be ashamed of our powers? Okay, now I KNOW someone's lost it. How the hell am I supposed to hide my powers? The hoodie, a good idea, but for how long? Someday, someone WILL find out. I want to get RID of this, this whole thing about looking like a freak, Nightcrawler, you say."

His rage was positively seething in response to Cornelius' speech. Arms crossed, his pupils narrow.

"Besides, all I can do is teleport. Not much for me to do. Change the world...HA! How, by becoming some freak circus act? I hear those places accept people like me. I'm not going to stay and listen to this any longer. If anyone needs me..."

Bamf

He vanished, the sound of glass being broken in the nearby distance a few seconds later, confirming where he was. The bathroom.

"I fail to see how others would see me as a hero, considering how I seem to terrify 80% of the school just by staring at them." Alex deadpanned. "And I'm afraid that with so little practice, my powers are...not really suited for subduing."

Closing his eyes in thought and folding his arms in front of him, Cornelius thinks at Zia. "I honestly don't believe it trusts me to give it the serum anyways. So have a little faith, I wouldn't have agreed to this deal if I didn't believe I could actually benefit from it. Though I must say, if you had agreed to work with me I probably never would of accepted Void's deal. No point listening to the devil when my right hand has major telepathy. What do you think of religion by the way? I intend to remove it from the new world due to viewing it as a major conflict starter, but I wanted to make sure first if people can actually handle religion."

Silently listening to everyone, a little frown crosses Cornelius' face upon hearing Nightcrawler II. "Fucking angst, everyone else already stopped bitching about their transformation. Seriously, he just doesn't understand the greatness of teleportation..." Opening his eyes, Cornelius suddenly speaks up.

"I assumed Ice Girl would provide us a location, thus the other reason I requested she comes along to confront the robber. Regarding Alex, if you really do terrify so many people, then you could at least intimidate the super-robber. My powers should be sufficient for actually subduing them, but again someone with super strength makes an excellent redundancy. Furthermore, we must confront the robber for our own safety. Police won't be able to handle a superhuman or if they do will question them, and honestly Shooter should realize Johnny changed too much to believe anything else. Its one thing to deny the fantastic, and another to blatantly try ignoring it. If we leave he'll only believe we ditched school and aren't superhumans."

His eyes turning to look at Ms. Fell before sweeping over the whole class, Cornelius speaks up once more "Thus, who is willing to help me? To let loose on a criminal, that should help us adjust to our powers. It should also help us get over some anxiety or anger we have due to this confusing empowering change. Though would anyone like to accompany Zia to help the comatose girl? Someone who can heal the physical body would be wonderful for that mission."

"I thought you would never ask" luna smirked at Scales, while she stretched her body.

As much as she was hiding it, she missed being transformed It felt like a pain on her stomach. The magic, the thrill that power gave her was very addictive. With that much power flowing in her body, being empowered by six gods , didn't that make her a goddess now?

While she also thought that Cornelius was a nut and definitively not to be trusted, and she didn't bought his "cleanse the world" crap either. She still had to wonder, was a society that let her mother be abused by her father, that let him call her a whore while he got scot free, worth protecting anyway?

Luna walked outside, on the hole Johnny had made, putting her arms on the side with a mischievous smile, she said her magic word "SHAZAM". This time embracing the lighting as it hit her in the chest.

"Ah! much better," she said after being transformed again.

"Cornelius, you're overlooking something." Benedict spoke up. "Heroes have secret identities. We don't have masks or costumes, and even if we did it's not like the police are just going to let us leave without asking questions or giving chase. This isn't a comic book - we can't keep up a masquerade as you called it for very long. After all, Johnny just FLEW here, someone was bound to have noticed that. We've already missed class, and Shooter's not that mindbogglingly stupid, so our best bet is to leave, get our powers under control and find a way to disguise the more... modified among us."

He walked over to the door, pulling out his car keys, and stood in the frame to make sure Zia and Ciro could hear him.

"I, for one, am going home. I have the house to myself during the day, so if anyone would like to join me to discuss and practice your powers, my car can take up to three of you. Four or five if you're willing to cram. Any takers?"

So this is getting out of hand.

Yeah, that Void guy is a total dick.

And Cornelius is apparently insane.

Not to mention this talk of superpowered robbers.

I told you you jinxed it.

Even if the robber does have powers they're hardly a threat compared to Neil and Terry.

Terry? I thought it was the Void that was the bad guy.

The Void does something 'bad' everytime Terry does 'good.' Now if helping someone calm down caused the void to kill someone, imagine for a moment that Terry saved the world.

So the Void would... summon Galactus?

Or make the Sun explode.

Precisely. Thus, we should try to k- er, convince them not to do anything stupid. Now shush. Telepaths might be listening.

Cornelius gives Benedict a genuine smile, and replies with what seems like cheer in his voice. "I didn't account for the secret identity thing because we won't have the time to actually disguise ourselves well. Even if we covered our hair and eye colors, even if we wore a full body covering outfit we wouldn't try to disguise our height. I could most likely envelop myself in metal to disguise who I am, but that still leave others. Thus I treat our identities getting blown as an inevitable outcome, unless someone wants to shell out thousands if not millions making customized tricked out suits for everyone."

Stretching out his arms, Cornelius lets them hang limply before speaking again. "I am quite glad someone finally agrees with me however. I should point out I never once treated all this as a comic book though, and you seem to have misunderstood me some. I honestly don't believe Shooter is that stupid, yes, nor do I believe Johnny went unnoticed. The masquerade was blown before it could even be made. Thus I'm all for just leaving school and training ourselves. Though..."

Hand to his chin, Cornelius briefly looks away with his eyes closed before looking at Benedict again. "You have Deadpool's powers don't you? The fact you don't seem to have become super-cancer while others inherited their donors special appearance is strange, implying you lied, though... Shouldn't you be considering all of us as fake people anyways? Puppets on strings and all that, dancing to some writer's will. Thus, do you really care what happens to us?"

"I think he's gonna cry and send us to detention, which I'll skip too." Scales growled to Anna, opening up a window and accidentally cracking it.

"Please don't call me a supermodel." Johnny added under his breath, covering his chest. "And don't call me a god either. There's only one God, and I'm not Him, alright?" He said, glumly, turning to Scales as she left the building. "I should go out, though... this whole body change thing is gonna be a big problem for me... what about my parents? I don't know what to tell them." He took a deep breath and looked down at his feet. "I don't want to be here when Shooter comes back- if he comes back, that is. I think we should leave. There's an abandoned store not too far from here, used to be a Goodwill. It's pretty big. We could go there... make that place our headquarters?" Johnny heard Benedict mentioning his home, and nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes! A home is much better. Won't attract that much attention..."

Ice Girl tapped her phone again, gritting her teeth as she left wet splotches on the screen. "Listen, uh, the robbery is going on at O'Neill and Adams... the comatose girl is at Twin Hills Street... and that kid Jackie you mentioned, Benjy? I'm contacting him. Hopefully he'll answer."

Benjy just nodded, a great big smile on his face, all thanks to the fact they were talking about headquarters. "You know, what with all our powers, I think school just became a choice." He chuckled. "Don't need to study for the tests when we can gleam the answers from the teacher's mind, right?"

Scales grinned as Luna transformed, and she crackled her knuckles. "Damn, feels good to do that with this new body." She patted her now bald, scaly head. "What should we do? I kinda feel the urge to kick ass..."

Ruth remained silent for a moment. I can do that. She replied. I'll just download all the information needed. Learning things like this is so much fun, Cornelius. Look, I just learned cryptography! Silence. Thank you for your help, Cornelius. I wish I could give you a thank you kiss...

Alex's expression remained a neutral glare, but he did agree that there was some merit in hiding his identity...it was why he hid his face with a hoodie sometimes.

So while Cornelius and Benedict were talking, Alex was having his own discussion with Bobby

What about this one? the Symbiote asked, displaying another costume in his mind. Ahe corners of Alex's mouth twitched upwards into a small smile, but he shook his head.

Nice...but seeing Vader beating people up would draw too much attention Plus the cape would get caught in everything. He reasoned. Still, its a start.

Aww, it was cool. Bobby pouted, before immediately perking up again. Oh! Oh! How about...

A few moments later, Alex's attention returned to the real world, having resolved his mental discussion with Bobby. He noticed that everyone else was debating the choice of leaving school to apprehend the robber, or to stay in school.

...Well then.
