Hearing a lot of gossip about the production hell this one went through, one former employee over at the Gallifrey Base forums described what went wrong as this:
Different directors, for one thing. Different writers (aside from Phil Lord). A studio that wouldn't know a good story if it introduced itself as Good Story, Esq

Not surprised about the production hell. I remember in the weeks following Into the Spider-Verse, the long-term plan was described as making movies that would each focus on a different character's universe. We got Miles in the first one. Gwen's universe would be the centerpiece for the next big Spider-Verse crossover jam.
Watching the trailer, this movie is... decidedly not that. Don't get me wrong, it looks fantastic. But it's not what was described when they were laying out their plans for the brand.
Obviously, some things changed during production.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
X6: I recall the plans were specifically about making a women-centric Spider-Verse
spin-off, and some eagerness to do something with Spider-Ham
.
Also I think people underestimate how the first film had its own production qualms
, resulting in its third act having to be retooled because Lord & Miller's changing nature.
I don't know much about either of those places but experience has told me that almost every time it's some "leak" or "former crew member" on any number of websites posting about working on something and X or Y happening, it's usually not true. There's not that many exceptions I can recall.

Lord and Miller's modus operandi is usually to find the movie in the edit, and they're often fond of throwing a bunch of weird stuff at the wall just to see what sticks and what doesn't. So their movies tend to feel very spontaneous and full of abrupt shifts in tone. But what helps that succeed in spite of all those swerves is the solid character arc foundation underneath. So as long as the skeleton is secure, their films can get away with changing a lot all the time.
Lord and Miller and pretty good about taking the movie ideas that might not seem like they could work, and somehow manage to make them work. The Lego Movie especially, since a lot of people like that movie's storytelling and character, even though the Lego brand is known for stuff like that in the first place.
Really if the movie has any problems you should be concerned about, its potentially being too big.
Like the movie's big thing is bringing in as many spiders as they can and well all know the saying too much of a good thing. Hell even in the first movie Ham, Noir, and Penny weren't exactly necessary to the story but they get enough screentime to show off their personalities. Is gonna be a bit harder here with so many new spiders.
Huh now that I think about it, beyond Jessica being Miguel's apparent second in command I can't notice any other spider who appears relevant in a significant capacity. Its funny cause I know Spider-Punk is supposed to have a notable role in the film but I have not noticed him in any of the trailers.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

So Kingpin was in Hawkeye because Echo is a prominent Daredevil character, correct?
The legend has returned.
