In that situation with One More Day, with Aunt May dying, a Peter-MJ divorce would basically make Spider-Man too dark. Remember that at the end of the day, the baseline Spider-Man has to be the guy who makes quips while fighting bad-guys and be a little funny. It's hard to do that when you make him too miserable. Miserable up to a point and not beyond that certainly. And also if MJ who puts up with Peter's double-life more than any other person Peter has known, the first person in Peter's circle in the comics to find out about his Secret Identity and so on, if that MJ couldn't hack it, then it makes no sense that there would be another civilian girlfriend in his life. So those are ways the story hits walls. So I agree with Quesada that divorce was a bad idea, I don't agree that the marriage had to be removed or cancelled per se.

The big problem with Mephisto which nobody talks about is that the Peter and Spider-Man we see in the stories after that, is basically the guy trapped in The Truman Show and Brazil or a Lotus-Eater Machine. He's not aware of the reasons why his reality is altered or recognizes it as altered. So that to me lends the post-OMD continuity an unreality, and unless they find a way to make Peter remember that and confront the fact that he sold his own marriage for an extended adolescence (yeah it's technically MJ who did that, but Peter passively-aggressively forced her to do it as anyone with any insight into relationships can see), nothing can convince me that these stories have any consequence or purpose.

I recognized almost every costume at the end of the preview.

I think even the caped one. Didn't Flash Thompson wear that in a What If story?

I just realised that Peter's relationship with Miles will prolly show him how awesome fatherhood is & convince him to have kids with MJ.

Heh thank God no Mephisto bullshit is in here. I'd take a divorce over that nonsense any day. Helps that it makes Peter feel even more real.

I think I only recognized caped one for sure.

Actually it comes from What if "Peter Parker had never become a crimefighter", issue 19. He barely wears the cape but still a great comic, best part is when Spidey buys Marvel Comics.

I think the black one with green highlights, at least, was from Big Time, and I think I might have seen the Spider-Armor.

I'm more excited for this movie than any MCU offering.

Please be good. I need animated Superhero movies to take off again.

It would be nice. There are things you can do in animation that you just can't do with live action...though I have to admit, the last 20 years or so have been changing that in good ways.

Still though, animated superhero films taking off would be great. Especially for Marvel. DC's live action offerings may be hit or miss, but they've always been better when it comes to animation I think.

DC's animated cartoons and their films especially the DCAU ones (don't care for the recent ones much) are much better than Marvel's stuff in general. The exceptions include The Spectacular Spider-Man which is the best Spider-Man cartoon ever overseen by Greg Weismann. And while it isn't super-popular I like X-Men:Evolution a lot and I am in a minority for preferring it to the Fox Animated show. In my view Evolution was a better Ultimate X-Men than the comic.

I don't know what Spider-Verse will do because its out-there. It's got an animated style that is experimental for mainstream cartoon films and looks like no other animated movie or TV show. It's also going to be confusing because it depends a lot on knowledge of comics lore.

I kind of appreciate the gesture because obviously the movie exists for Sony to hold on to the rights of Spider-Man, make profits and avoid having Marvel buying them out. I prefer them doing stuff like this then the Amazing movies where they retold an origin that everyone had seen in living memory. I wonder if this movie does well it means we get a live-action Miles Morales movie.

So in his universe Peter parker got divorced because he didn't want kids, and Peni Parker is Peter Parker's daughter in her universe. Do you think that will become relevant somehow?

I have no idea. I honestly think that Older Man Peter (let's call him that) is not really the focus of this story. It's about Miles and the other Spider-Man from dimensions are cameos. How they tie it in or if they choose to to tie it in, is not really relevant. For all we know, they might set up a sequel or some such thing later on.

Y'know i'm surprised Spider-Man 2099 isn't in this as he's one of the more popular alternate versions of Spider-Man.

They might save him for a sequel in case this one is successful.

2099 is a little too hard to explain. Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen are connected to Peter, others are alternate versions of Peter...but 2099 is basically another character centuries later with no connection to Peter, any of his supporting cast, and rogues. Batman Beyond still had the first Batman as the mentor figure to the new kid by comparison.

So, we have now Mid-life crisis Peter, his direct successor, Gwen, Depression era Peter, Funny Animal Peter and Peter's kid from an alternate universe. Miguel and maybe the glam rock version would be fun.

Apparently an Alchemax logo can be spotted in the first trailer as Miles touches the spider.

Also, apparently they're considering an aftercredits scene, but I'm not really sure what to think on the idea of a sequel.

Alchemax was brought into mainstream Spider-Man in the 616 in the Dan Slott era, and it appears in Spider-Man (PS4), so it doesn't mean much by itself. But who knows, maybe 2099 is the secret surprise of this movie. I doubt it because this is Miles' story and cluttering it with too many alternate Spiderfolk ruins or dilutes that in my view.

For a sequel they can bring Mayday Parker and the daughter from RYV, and Ultimate Jessica Drew, and maybe do a take on the Clone Saga.

I don't expect the Clone Saga to ever be adapted into live action.

Its simple how Peter’s divorce issues will be settled.

His relationship with the younger spiders, especially Miles will give him a window of what it be like to have a kid of his own & he’ll grow to love the idea of being a father once he realizes he can still have kids even if he’s a superhero.

With Stan Lee passing away today. Into the Spider-Verse will probably the first movie to have him cameo posthumously.
