Netflix Daredevil

I simply don't want him to look stocky. He looks pretty slick in his suits, but as soon as he wears his red costume, he looks kind of, well, not fat, but not like the smooth moving fighter I have in my mind.

In the teaser, I noticed that Matt has what looks like a white bandage underneath his mask that covers the top of his head. Maybe a lingering head injury from Midland Circle?

I think that Matt is going to be at a very low and strange place at the start of the season. Between season 2 and The Defenders, Matt’s civilian life has been slowly falling apart. He has a deep need to be Daredevil, but he has never found a sustainable way of balancing both sides of his life. Between the cumulative traumas of season 2 and The Defenders, it’s not a stretch to think that Matt would be in a bad place emotionally at the beginning of season 3.

I just hope they don't drag out this “They’re better off without me” stuff for too long. Maybe for the first episode, sure, but by at least the end of the first if not the second episode, I think that Matt should at least be back in touch with Karen. And that he should be back in touch with Foggy by the fourth episode. I mean, season 3’s got its own problems to dealing with, and I really want to see the Matt / Karen / Foggy reconciliation play out and have ample time to be explored, considering that the last time the three shared a scene was way back in season 2 episode 10 when Reyes died. Since then, it’s always been Matt+Karen, Matt+Foggy, Foggy+Karen, but never all three at once. I want my Scooby gang back again. Not necessarily the same as it was before, but I want to see Matt, Karen and Foggy getting along again, the emotional connections restored or at least recovering. I want the season to give us some happiness for the main characters.

Don't want to get too optimistic. In the interview it always sounds as if Marcy has a huge role, and then she only has a few cameos. Though I would love for her getting more to do. She is my favourite female character in Daredevil. (which actually doesn't speak for the writers, that I like their females better the less they write about them….)

Me wanting to see more Marce has a lot to do with her being somewhat underdeveloped as a character. We know for a fact that she's morally grounded. She wasn’t fond of the idea of putting her career on the line to bring down Fisk, but neither was she okay with Fisk doing dirty dealings. And by turning in her partners that were in Fisk's pocket, she risks her own safety in the future. So that tells me Marci can’t be bought…at least not in the way Fisk does business. It also make me think that her past affiliation with Landman & Zack will come back to bite her and Foggy in the ass during season 3, if Fisk has anything to say about that.

And considering that Marci really does love and admire Foggy (she was the one who brought Foggy a teddy bear to the hospital when he got shot), I'm sure she's probably been his rock ever since Midland Circle. But again, it's hard to get a read on who Marci is on the inside since we’ve hardly had any character development, and so far, all of her scenes have been with Foggy.

Marci's clearly supposed to be a take on Debbie Harris, Foggy’s morally iffy childhood sweetheart and eventual wife from the comics. I wouldn't be surprised if their relationship gets deeper exploration in season 3, especially if they’re looking for ways to “pad” the story (not necessarily in a bad way) before getting everyone reunited. Also, the cast needs to grow, and giving larger roles to already established characters is a way to to do that. I'd certainly love to see Marci have a bigger part in season 3.

But she's not the only one I'd like to see with a bigger part. I'd also love to see Blake Tower have a bigger part, after being woefully underused in season 2. In season 2, Tower was mostly a meek subordinate to Reyes, but now that he's District Attorney in light of her death, it's time for him to take a more prominent turn in the spotlight. I'd die if some rumors I've heard on the Internet turn out to be true, and they adapt the comics arc where Foggy runs against Tower for District Attorney, especially since that would make Foggy more vulnerable to attacks from Fisk. And I really do hope we'll get to see Vanessa take a more active role in helping Fisk run his organization, as that would nicely parallel Karen being a more integral part of Matt's Daredeviling in light of Karen becoming the new Ben Urich.

I saw some fan art that tried to imagine how Vincent D'Onofrio would look in that sort of get-up. I liked it, but I also felt that the show will do something a lot more toned down.

Bigger question is still, how will Matt get his clothes back? Did Karen decide to safekeep the old costume? Did Foggy? (Karen seems more likely, in my opinion, because her apartment doesn't get as many visitors; whereas Foggy, who I bet has probably moved in with Marci by this point, probably wouldn't want to keep anything around linking Matt and Daredevil together, simply because of the potential consequences for him if the secret gets out.)

Well...good for him. Though I wonder...the Defenders is edging close and closer to events they can't really ignore. At one point they have at the very least to drop a line about the wizard fight in the middle of New York City.

If it's not relevant to the plot, it can be ignored.

Yeah, the only relevant thing would be the finger snap.

I feel like at some point a wizard battle in New York should be on newspapers or something. Luke is dedicated to protecting Harlem while Matt was guarding Hell's Kitchen. Danny took up Matt's job - they might section off parts of the city, but I'd find it hard to believe that they don't care about anything else going on in it. Jessica is the only one apathetic enough that I could see her not really giving a crap about Strange or Stark's affairs - Season 2 excluded, she's not particularly dedicated to being a guardian. I can't see Luke or Danny not being remotely interested in what the Avengers are doing.

And from what I glimpsed of Shadowland Matt's actions draw the attention of the Avengers. You could write this out, and you have to because no big-screen Avengers are showing up here anytime soon, but it's a little jarring that the Netflixverse is still going to pretend that the larger Cinematic Universe isn't there. Agents of SHIELD does the same thing but I've been under the impression that they were really Screwed by the Network and just did their own thing - and even then we still had the latest season influenced by Infinity War.

There's no fun to a shared universe if we outright ignore the rest of it. I don't expect all of JJ S3, IF, LC, or DD to be paying homage to Infinity War, but a nod like someone on a street corner going, "last month was hell, my brother just vanished and we were behind on the rent man," or a newspaper that says, "New York recovers from Incident #56436."

Yeah, I don't mean that it has to be a big thing in the show itself, but it needs to get acknowledged at one point. Just to affirm that yes, still the same world.

I mean, a universe is still a huge place. Everyone's got their own stuff going on at the time and it's easy enough for things to skip their attention or they just can't attend to it at the moment. So while Matt is turning Hell's Kitchen into Shadowland the Avengers have these new guys called the Eternals to worry about.

There's a photo in the article of Matt sparring with someone in the convent (I wonder where Matt finds this guy to whip him back into fighting shape).

Here's a blowup of a photo from the article of Matt and Karen at what looks like a funeral◊. I'm guessing that it's a funeral for Father Lantom given the nuns in the background, Matt looking bruised, and neither he nor Karen looking happy. Also, it looks like Fisk is the figure that's obscured by Karen's head.

Also, it has some spoilery details about how Fisk will get out of jail. As the article basically puts it, Fisk is selling out some of his rivals to Agent Nadeem.

How do you think Fisk will destroy Matt's life? I predict that he will not only burn down Matt's home like the comics, but also get Bullseye to kill Father Lantom (Hence the funeral picture).

I'm real curious how Fisk and Matt are going to interact this time around. If Matt's really begun his Start of Darkness then what does that mean for Fisk? It seemed scarier that Fisk would eventually make it out because Matt wasn't willing to murder him and all of his goons. Now, though, Matt's fully willing to go Frank Castle on him, the tables are seemingly turned.
