Depends on the subject matter of the movies but most often they use them as cudgels against Kathleen Kennedy even though she produced most of their successful blockbuster works. If it's Schinder's List they'll decry it as Oscar Bait for example but if it's Saving Private Ryan all they'll remember are the gunfire and explosions. Don't forget that these same "fans" drove George Lucas to sell Star Wars to Disney.
I'll agree with you that Star Wars fans can be very unsavory, but why are you yet again going into political territory here?
I dunno, I've been managing it just fine. I just call them as they are: filthy hypocrites. No mention of political leaning required!

x8 That's an... interesting take on animated Ursula or Jafar to say the least. And especially Shan Yu who is usually considered to be a mid-tier villain.
And on that note, upon contemplating it, yeah... I am not going to accept the defense of remakes with the "the origin stories are retold and remade" mindset at least. Disney outright advertises them as live action remakes of their animated movies, and they display them as such, complete with equivalent songs, iconography and the like. So yeah it IS fair that they should be compared.
Hilariously enough Cinderella managed to avoid this, YMMV whether because the OG Cinderella was kinda... eh narratively.

It's just my personal opinion and preferences that's probably influenced by what media I consumed as a child and possibly something else deep in my psyche as well. Ultimately we each have our own personal preferences that differ from the majority consensus. And no this is not being a contrarian for its own sake a la Kanye West.

Set! Avenge! "Henshin." Black General! Bujin Sword! Ready, Fight!![]()
Cinderella is kinda in the same book as Jungle Book in that it's more remembered for its songs, side characters and visuals than its actual plot. Hell, nowadays more people are fond of the third film/second DTV movie for having more concrete characterizations and a more interesting plot
While I didn't find the remake remarkable I did find it had its merits (and its case of Adaptational Villainy with the Duke easier to stomach than other cases since the Duke was kinda a non-entity in the original).

Prettiest Meta Knight Gijinka, ngl
I only remember that scene because one of them does the goofy holler when the chandelier they're on breaks.
While I do prefer the live-action versions of Little Mermaid and Aladdin, the one live-action remake that I dislike was Mulan and that was because it went too far into Wuxia territory among other issues, 1 of w/c is unavoidably also political (being shot in Wuhan).
Set! Avenge! "Henshin." Black General! Bujin Sword! Ready, Fight! The Grand Duke was one of the few characters nice to Cinderella in the original so seeing him as a villain rubbed me the wrong way. He was one of my favorite characters cause of how funny he was.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Would it have been so hard for the live action folks to make the duke a villain, and yet still have him be nice to Cindy?
Self-professed Wild Card who thinks cynicism isn't so bad.Do we need a thread for the L&S remake or is the franchise thread enough?
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Really interesting getting to hang out with those relatives I mentioned earlier, and seeing the kids twice as excited about the film because they've seen both version and because things are different.
They were excitedly rattling off all the things they noticed in the film that were different between the films, really happy that they had seen both films and could do so.
I think it's more telling that the people complaining are older folks aka fans who grew up with the original movie. Which is around my generation (and I'm on the younger side of the Lilo & Stitch all things considered, not being 10 years old back then).
And I've been exposed to a lot of complaining about remakes (and DTV sequels) since I ventured into the Internet. It got old, tired, and cliche to the point I just zoned out on the angry Internet critics during my college years.
I’m gonna be honest. My favorite Disney remake might just be Cruella. It’s edgy and dark and a lot of fun.
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.I didn't like Cruella. It is a discount Maleficent. I much prefer Maleficent because it felt like it had more heart.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadEh, I could take or leave Maleficent. Cruella though, has style and personality and some damn good twists.
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.

Considering they never watched the original, my godkids enjoyed watching the movie. As for myself, I've watched and heard of so many remakes and adaptations throughout the decades of multimedia that I've grown accustomed whenever something gets changed during the adaptation so none of it is a big deal for me. Hell, a lot of the live-action villains were actually a vast improvement for me such as Ursula and Jafar as young me found their 1990s counterparts so obnoxious to the point that 9-year old me wanted to walk out of both movies back when my family watched it in cinemas but obviously can't. Pretty much the only Disney villains I could stomach are Frollo and Shan Yu. Now I'm not sure how old or how young the tropers here are but it's understandable for those who have watched the original Lilo & Stich in their youth and have strong feelings about it especially if it's a treasured part of your childhoods, or a core memory as Inside Out puts it.
As for "soulless work", that's a very strong YMMV for me as I've encountered far too many jackasses in real life apply that term to literally every work made by minorities or w/ minorities, especially indy works, and to them the only works w/ "soul and passion" are utterly bigoted trash like transphobic jokes from Dave Chapelle and Ricky Gervais or those made by rightwingers such as Sound of Freedom.
