I think the implication in the live action movie is supposed to be that the castle is linked to the Beast, such that it starts falling apart when he's dying (hence it randomly quaking when he takes injuries), but it's not very well set up.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Wasn't Gaston also shooting up parts of the castle with his "horrible rifle", and creating the wreckage himself?
I've only seen the film once.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Relevant topic:
The Hollywood Reporter says Apple could be in a position to acquire Disney.
So much for Disney being too powerful, am I right? *gulp*
More like Disney being too powerful would make Apple's power grab even more monopolizing.
The article says it's just one analyst's speculation of possible future actions, but nothing's been confirmed that either company would attempt such a thing.
no way that’s happening. Both companies would be way to big for that to go through, especially with Disney’s most recent acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
Anyway, as pointed out, it’s baseless speculation anyway. There’s absolutely no reason to even suspect Apple wants to do such a thing. (And I’m pretty sure they would not.)

Normally, I wouldn’t say this but if there’s any good racism will do, it’ll hopefully stop Little Mermaid from being a hit so they can finally stop making these damn remakes.

No, not even stopping live-action remakes is worth using racism. If the The Little Mermaid should flop, it should be on its technical problems irrespective of race.
That's honestly not much better than the people who said the COVID-19 pandemic would be worth it if the Mulan remake flops. Like... no.
Seriously?
"Boy, I sure hope vocal racism can keep this new media from messing with my nostalgia!"
This really is starting to reach New Media Are Evil levels. The extent to which people get invested in condemning these just on principle is baffling.

If a work is going to fail. It should fail on its own merits due to quality.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Not a good look at all
New theme music also a boxTo be less reactionary, a similar phenomenon happened in the Star Wars fanbase:
Star Wars fanbase is full of people who disdain parts of the franchise, and the militant parts of fanbase famously rallied behind racists and sexists ages ago because those people were vocal allies against the things that portion of the fanbase complained about, and provided targets that the fanbase could rally against. Often you would find people who were supposedly not racist or sexist themselves, but were all for those people "taking the fight to Kathleen Kennedy" or "keeping Disney / Lucas honest" somesuch nonsense, and so people claiming not to support X or Y but also doing nothing to challenge those portions (and in fact defending them) were common.
And now, thanks to that behavior, the Star Wars fanbase has a well known alt-right problem.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Which is why you have to make the arguments in your own words. No more simple short cuts of "Watch the Plinkett reviews."
Personally, I look forward to any live-action films with the hopes that they'll be good.
No work did more to incentive the cesspool of the SW fanbase than the Plinkett Reviews.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."The best thing is that when his advice was sort of used for the st trilogy it turned out to be terrible.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Plinkett was just one of those ridiculous haters who complained about every detail just to justify hating movies that didn't turn out the way he wanted. Period.
On a more positive note, the Narnia films are now all under one roof, thanks to the acquisition of 20th Fox.
I just recently watched Prince Caspian, and really, it's a perfectly fine movie. Critics of it were just too nitpicky. Like those with the Star Wars Prequels.
the bbc production is still better!
New theme music also a boxPrince Caspian was... eh. I loved the previous film, but I felt this one cut out a lot of the charm and whimsy from the book in order to push its Darker and Edgier setting. Many of the conflicts between characters were forced, and so was the pointless romance between Susan and Caspian.
Incidentally the screenwriters for the Narnia movies ended up writing for the Captain America and Infinity War / Endgame films.

Heh that’s funny.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."If you've ever wondered why Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame all have a "two armies charge at each other" scene, well, they started that out in Narnia.

Possibly unpopular opinion, but I really wish that we'd gotten a Silver Chair movie. That stuff was beautifully dark and Puddleglum is still one of my faves.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)Oh same. Puddleglum is the best and I would've loved to see Underland and the Sunless Sea.

I'd find interesting to have seen how Disney would have spun the unshackled madness of The Final Battle.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
I prefer that over the live action movie, where the castle falling apart made it random chance rather than a fault of his own actions. Even the impression that the Beast knocked him off, Gaston still put himself in a bad position that directly lead to his fall.
