"Rider? Odd. Still, you're still you. That shouldn't affect my plans much. What are your abilities?"

Anders glowed at the mention of him being a hero. "I'm glad to help. I... this is the Holy Grail War?" Anders looked confused for a few seconds as he sorted through his new knowledge, then frowned slightly. "I am an Avenger-Class Servant. I... do not like the feeling of this Grail War. Mages under the control of religion didn't end well at all where I'm from."

The gray-haired Master didn't even blink at this act of infanticide, watching the scene with an amused smirk. "Splendid." She clapped in her hands, pleased to see that the act of sucking the girl's internal mana calmed the creature down somewhat. "This is a crowded city, you see. We can't kill them all, that would be a little counterproductive... but there are individuals that will give you much more than this child did." Her smirk widened. "Fellow Servants and Masters, they have plenty of such energy for you... but, to get it, you will have to work with me. For me. How's that for a deal?"

Shop Basement- Handayashi

As the grand spectacle of the summoning ritual faded, Beatrice laid eyes upon the Archer she had summoned.

'A little girl, huh?' Archer's style of dress wasn't particularly helpful in pinning a culture or identity to her, but the fact of her appearance alone was indicative of something; she must have died young, to have incarnated like this.

As her Servant smiled wamrly towards her in greeting, the woman bit down on her curiosity for the time being. The girl's presence before her was enough indication of her prestige, and a youthful disposition was hardly a concern with that in mind. Even less, it could be more helpful than a more wizened mindset might have been.
That and it could be fun later on.

"Greetings, Servant Archer," Beatrice began, shaking her head to discard her train of thought before returning the Servant's smile with one of her own, "Being the one who has summoned you here, I am the one who shall serve as your Master in this war."

As if to make a point, the woman raised her right arm up in clear view of the Servant and- pulling down the sleeve of her jacket- showed her the three intricate symbols etched into the length of her forearm.
With the contract confirmed, they were glowing with the same red light that the summoning circle had emanated; but it quickly faded, back into the dull red marks they had been for the last few weeks.

"Alright, let's cut to the chase," She began again, the previous formality she had addressed Archer with completely gone as her curiosity returned, "You're quite the doll for a Heroic Spirit; mind filling me in on your identity?"

Despite the woman's choice of words, she didn't seem disrespectful of the Servant; rather, it just seemed to be her curiosity making her pushy and blunt.

Cabin in the Woods- Handayashi

As the summoning circle in the small cabin blasted to life, it took only a matter of moments for the silhouette of a figure to emerge from the smoke produced by the ritual.
The air stood still for a moment, the smoke billowing out as power and information rushed into the silhouette.

All fell silent for a moment.
And then a single sound broke that silence.

TAP

A brilliant light emerged from the smoke, which cleared to reveal the being that had been called to the cabin.

"I presume you are the one who summoned me, Magus?" The woman standing in the circle asked curtly as she stared at Josaku with a cold look in her eyes, her hands resting upon the hilt of the sheathed sword she balanced upon the floor of the cabin and the powerful light continued to emerge from somewhere behind her.

"Well for one, I'm still a Wizard." Dresden rapped his staff on the ground. "Nothing fancy, but I can surprise people who think Riders are just off-brand Sabers. They also won't expect me to just smash their face in with a punch." He scratched the back of his head. This kid has no idea. Like if Mab had nothing to back it up. "I do have a mount, but we can keep that secret for now. I've got one last trick before we move forward, though. Again, look me in the damn eyes before we go any further on this."

Handayashi Suburbs

"Oh, I know." Jacob said with a nod. "My son hasn't actually grabbed the newest part of your story yet, so I don't know how that conclave is going to go, but I'm optimistic." He shrugged. "Here, your story's what's called a 'videogame;' people contribute to your story by narrating Hawke's actions and you've got responses based on what I assume actually happened to you." He smiled. "The way I see it, we can shut down this Grail War and keep everyone here safe with our Wishes, then get your job done. Anything you need to get off your chest, or can we move forward with some things I'd like to get done?"

Hiro looked up to meet Dresden's eyes. The soulgaze took him by surprise; he wasn't sure what to expect.

To Dresden, Hiro's soul would look like a recording room. Instruments carefully placed around the room, well-taken care of. One microphone in the center, with plenty of spotlights illuminating Hiro as he stood, humming the same song that activated his magical circuits. Hiro was also shirtless, and From the Heart was visible, though not as silver, but as deep scars.

Suddenly, all the instruments began to play as well, the full song bursting forth, and prana surging through the scars as Hiro activated his magical circuits in shock, tearing himself away from the soulgaze.

Anders nodded. "I see. My wish would be that mages are treated as people. No more, no less. I don't want mages to live in fear and hide."

Berserker dimly nods in understanding. It appears that feeding the thing causes it to think ever so slightly clearer... With its hunger sated and some trust for its current master earned, it dematerializes into a cloud of ashes and dust that soon scatters out of Margarita's sight despite the fact that they were indoors. Perhaps it going into spirit form is its way of saying "I want to meet the other masters and their servants ASAP"?

As Hiro was sucked into Rider's Soulgaze, he would see his Servant, walking forward. Behind him, a rapidly growing pile of... bodies. Everything Dresden had ever killed was somewhere in that pile, steadily growing as he walked forward. Vampires of all sorts, monsters straight out of the Monster Manual; Hiro could definitely see Darth Vader and a Xenomorph in there too. Dresden was walking forwards, though, towards... someone, someone very distant on the horizon.

Dresden popped out of Hiro, grunting in effort. Damn, some kind of tortured narcissist type or something. Better watch out for him. "Well then. I've worked with worse, certainly." He put on the dopey voice of a certain cartoon mouse. "So, what're we gonna do tonight, Hiro?"

Handayashi Suburbs

"That's good, man." Jacob nodded. "I guess you are my dad, being an Anderson myself and all." He smiled at Anders like he'd just made the best joke in the world—because he totally had.

Hiro shook his head to clear it. "Well, we should go to the church to register. First, though, you should know my abilities, while we're still alone." He pulled the neckline of his shirt down, revealing the silver brands on his ribcage. "I'm a pretty competent hand-to-hand fighter. This fun little contraption helps with any magic that affects just me, so I can toughen my skin, get pretty strong or quick... that kind of thing. I also have a few sound-related spells- I am a musician, after all. I thought you were going to be a Caster, which would mean I would do more fighting, but Rider is just as good, if not better."

Handayashi Suburbs

Anders smiled slightly at the terrible joke. "Well, what are your capabilities as a magus, Jacob?"

Triumphant, Rita rose from her seat. "Now now, Berserker, you will have to be patient. Before we proceed with winning this war, we need to abide by its rules. For now. Our next destination is a local cathedral where we introduce ourselves to the ones overseering this conflict. I expect you to be on your best behavior. Remember..." Her lips quirked again as she put on her furcoat. "I reward obedience."

And with that, the two were out into the night.

The Shady Part of Town, Abandoned Warehouse
Like a brick wall, the armored servant made no visible reaction to the attacks. Nothing, aside from slight, practically invisible backwards movements that prevented Gwen's hands and feet from breaking on impact with the steel he wore.

"My turn..." he said in a low voice. He lifted his axe up again, until the blade was a meter off of the ground, and then swung it back down at an angle. The resulting impact tore apart the concrete immediately next to it, and sent a ripple on the ground towards Gwen.

"You're right about that," Rick said. "I can send some bees around to do some light scouting, but it probably isn't going to be as detailed as what an Archer can do."

"You have any way of looking less... alien?" he added. "It'll do us no good to have you jumping around town if you look like that"

"My name is Mami Tomoe," she curtsied with her dress. "It's nice to meet you," she walked forward while taking a look around the room. Seemed like they were in a basement... but of a house? Of a shop? Those were the sorts of questions she'd need answering. "Where are we exactly?" Get the answer to that then jump on to another. "And lastly, what do I call you?"

Handayashi Hospital Basement

The room was dark, dank, and disgusting. Mold covered the walls, spiders crawled between cracks on the ceiling, and a mysterious liquid pooled on the floor at the corners of the room. There was no lighting to speak of either, as the lightbulb hanging from the ceiling had went out long, long ago. It was a room that clearly has not been in use for a long time, but it was spacious and it was private, and it was exactly what Mack needed.

He looked over the circle one more time, making sure that everything was okay. Frankly however, he just wanted to get this over with as soon as possible. The filthy room, the blood, everything around him was making him nauseous. Wasting not another moment, he quickly made his way toward the edge of the circle and raised his right hand.

He uttered his incantation, slowly at first, but progressively louder as he saw the circle begin to glow. His heart raced in his chest, and for a moment he began to wonder if this was really such a good idea. But there was no turning back now, and he shouted the last of the incantation with conviction. Light filled the previously dark room, sending the bugs along the walls fleeing into the cracks. As the Servant -his Servant- entered this world, Mack could only breath deeply in anxious anticipation.

"Then we both fight in melee." Rider explained. He reminded me of the Alphas, when they were first starting out. It worried me. "We're gonna play really conservatively with this, then. I have a Skill that keeps people from thinking I'm gonna smash them in the face, so we never need to fight fair; we hit them fast and hard, and I only bring out my Noble Phantasm when it's absolutely vital." I admit, I partially stayed so cagey about my Mount because it was going to be so cool when I finally used it.

Jacob held up a hand and conjured a still flame. He also pulled out a Nerf gun too. "These are my main tools: Big, excessive fire, and the ability to get that fire from anywhere I need. Much like my mixtape..." He realized who he was talking to. "Sorry, that joke goes over your head. Anyway, I basically specialized in what you'd consider the Elemental or Inferno sk—uh, disciplines of magic." Jacob frowned. "And what about you? The game I found your story in allowed players to specialize however they wanted, so what is your actual magical power?"

Anders took out a small knife and cut his palm. "First and foremost, I am a heal- blood mage?" A small glob of unusually dark blood rose from his hand and swirled about. "Interesting... It seems I have blood magic, in addition to my healing spells. I'm also well-acquainted with the primal school of magic- earth and lightning, that is. Other than that, I am a mage of not inconsiderable talent- if I have time to prepare a spell, I should be able to do pretty much any magic I can think of."

Archer glanced around upon materialization, a habit that he practiced almost compulsively back in his mortal life before folding his arms, staring down who seemed to be his Master in this conflict.

Master. Ugh, the word itself was still making him turn a little inside.

"Greetings, summoner." He spoke to Mack, giving a small nod. His tone was calm and collected, somewhat befitting his orderly appearance. "I'm Servant Archer, summoned into this reality to be your aide through the war." Another glance around, back to his Master's face and a briefly amused quirk of an eyebrow. "Could have stood to pick a better place for summoning though."

Handayashi Cathedral

"About time someone showed up." The overseer - a middle-aged man with a beard worth a couple of days grumbled from the shadows, holding a small book in his hand. "In any case, name's William Sherman. Overseer of this war here in Handayashi. I presume you know how to behave in a church, correct?" He narrowed his eyes at Francis, likely meant to say something more beyond usual etiquette applying to places of worship.

Gwen knew instinctively that that was bad fucking news...but unfortunately, she wasn't fast enough to do anything about it. The young woman was knocked off her feet and smashed facefirst on the hard ground.

She was down for but a few seconds. She stood up, pissed off. At herself. What was she, some kind of rookie? To get her attacks shrugged off, to get knocked around like that! It was humiliating!

"Let's see you try to do that again, damn you!" she snarled, charging right at the armored freak again.

As the priest spoke, Vezon dropped out of spirit form, striding up the large crucifix on display, one hand held to his chin in a "contemplation" posture.

"Well, I certainly like this place! A little creative there, though they really do much beyond hanging him there! I could be more creative when I was Vezok, and he was crippled by insanity!" He shook his head, and turned to the priest.

Mack never paid much attention in his history classes, so he had no idea who this Archer was. However, even in the darkness, he could tell that this man looked explicitly European. The man did not particularly look like a warrior, however, as instead of armor, he was clad in dress clothes. Then again, it was not like Mack knew much of anything about Magecraft. In a world hidden from the public, perhaps he should just assume that looks are deceiving.

As Archer broke the silence of the room, Mack cut short his inner reflections.

"Hello to you too, Archer." Mack knew how to deal with nerves, so his tone of voice was surprisingly even to match Archer's, betraying his deep trepidation inside. "I apologize for the rather..." He looked around the room. "...sloppy summoning location, but my choices were limited."

He then walked up to Archer and extended his hand in greeting. "My name is Mack Dailey and I am to be your Master for the Handayashi Grail War. I hope our partnership will be a fruitful one." He said, trying to sound as sophisticated and dependable as possible.

Sherman frowned, not at all amused by Vezon's antics. "Keep your Rider on your side of the cathedral if you could." He grumbled at Francis, turning sideways to the Master before him. "And you, tin can, stop grabbing at that crucifix as if it was a prostitute!" His disapproving glare wandered back to Rider before letting out a sigh.

This was almost certainly a Servant from the other world. He was sure of it. Ruler did fill him in on that anyways. "Anyway" Sherman began circling around Francis out of habit, the book still in his hand. "Here to register for yet another conflict of Magi?" He addressed the other man, opening the book. "Do speak then."
