I don't see it. While I thought the comic, as a whole, was quite hit-and-miss, it actually told a story. It wasn't just about insulting people or religion.
Now that was a big part, sure, but there was more to it than that.
Besides, the initial stages of any show like X-Factor is about insulting actual people's attempts to sing (or dance or juggle or what have you). That's far worse.

As opposed to the hundreds of movies, series and books whose purpose is to push the agenda of that group of people? Yet I don't see anyone whining about AD or The Messengers
Yes, indeed he will.
Since the main cast has been locked in officially, does anyone want to help me out with putting together a page for the upcoming series? I have experience making pages for movies, but this is a whole new beast for me and I would prefer to not do it all by myself.
ETA: I think I may have inadvertently deleted all my P Ms. If anyone has written me in the past couple of hours and not gotten a response, please write me again.

The main story of Preacher is pretty good, but hopefully the TV adaptation will omit some of Ennis' worst indulgencies from the comic, such as the stereotypical Depraved Bisexual characters, the bullshit macho/sexist bravado, and the Character Filibuster anti-political correctness rants. Can't imagine that stuff being well received in the 2010s, even though most comic geeks didn't seem to mind it back in the 90s.
Also, while Christianity was hardly the sole target of satire in Preacher, you can't deny the fact that it is a strongly anti-religious story, and I'm not sure whether they could actually adapt some of the more extreme stuff for American mainstream television? I mean, this is a story where the ultimate Big Bad is a selfish, tyrannical Christian God, and which ends with said God getting killed, which is depicted as a happy ending. Could they ever pull that off on American TV without any Executive Meddling? I'm not sure if I'd want to see a watered-down version, where the message is something like "religions are not bad, only extremists are", because that's not what Preacher is about.

I think it will be fine.
As I was saying to a friend, when we discussed this a couple of days ago...we don't know for sure how wink wink/nudge nudge, comic booky they are going to make this show. Considering that, and the fact there are A) elements of black humor in it, and B) AMC being the station that brought us Breaking Bad, I think they can get away with quite a bit.
Picket the studio? Issue fiery polemics on religious radio programming? Write angry mom blog posts on one of those concerned parent what-are-my-kids-watching websites...If Westboro can picket Comi Con, they can picket Preacher.

That was a weird video... Seems like they're trying to market this as a gritty crime series, none of the supernatural elements are even hinted at in the trailer, even though the official tagline ("a supernatural Preacher, a gun-toting ex, and an Irish vampire are coming to AMC mid-2016") still makes it clear they're part of the show.

An adaptation of the Garth Ennis comic of the same name.
They are currently casting the pilot, with Ruth Negga as Daisy
and Ian Colletti as Arseface
