Before making or posting in a thread, read the Trope Repairing Guidelines to see whether a thread you're considering making actually should be made, as well as what is and isn't allowed in an open thread.
This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is). The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread
to collect evidence if you need help.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

Besides here, there's a thread somewhere in long-term for it, but you can't really start the process there (if it's for a trope, anyway).
If you yourself can't do the check, might as well throw it under the "tropes needing wick checks" folder on the Wick Check Project sandbox and see if someone else bites. If they do though, they're the one who'll probably take it to the TRS.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallWe have the TRS Wick Cleaning page, but I haven't kept up with it.
I got a rock for Halloween.Should we bring Needs Wiki Magic Love back to TRS? It's still attracting unwanted wicks
, which means moving it to Administrivia/ just wasn't enough.
I'm in favor of doing so.
For the best. We should do that as soon as there's an open spot. I believe with even the Administrivia/ link being lazily tacked on, it's just not worth even keeping that as a redirect.

Open spot now...
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576
Huh? I don't see one.
It's been an entire hour and a half since then, it's possible the slot was filled in the meantime.
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.
...I don't think it was ever available. The Morgue doesn't show any closed threads in a while, and I don't see any new threads created since the Stephen King one.
Double post, I know, but a slot may be opening soon, as Wimpification is almost done (as far as I know).
Note that I may grab the spot for either Walking Spoiler or Role-Ending Misdemeanor. Which leads me to my next question: should I
- A. Bring in Walking Spoiler
- B. Bring in Role-Ending Misdemeanor, or
- C. Let someone else take the slot?
Write-ups for the two are in my sandbox.
Also, I may not take Camera Screw in to TRS, as I don't know what they could do. Should I start a cleanup thread for it? And if so, is it Short- or Long-Term?

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI have a few projects I still need to take, but I'd rather let some things close up first and I'm still pretty focused on Not So Different, so I'll continue to pass until there's more openings.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallWhen was Stock Superpowers
morgued and what took its place?
It was morgued Sep. 12 and Works By Stephen King took its place.
Remember that we should let the re-TRS of NWML take place as soon as possible.
Alright, I'll hold off unless Mythical Motifs closes as well, in which case I will take Role-Ending Misdemeanor in for misuse.
I cleared out most of Real Estate Scam's wicks for The Con thread (someone else picked up where I left off) and migrated Landmark Sale's on-page examples (and some of its wicks), so progress is being made on that thread. The remaining subtrope that hasn't been changed yet (The Mark) has the higher wick count of the two, but it's in the low triple digits, so it's still not incredibly high.
I also turned Win The Crowd into a disambiguation page, per its thread, but I haven't changed any wicks yet (aside from indexes other than the Ambiguity Index and the currently cutlisted Laconic subpage), and I also made Administrivia.Wall Of Text per the Wiki Tropes TRS thread, with wick cleanup for TV Tropes Glossary merges being all that's left for the Wiki Tropes thread (the wick cleanup that needs to be done is listed on the TRS Thread Tracker sandbox).

I got a rock for Halloween.I might take Epic Movie here at some point, the page is littered with Zero-Context Examples, and doesn't have a clear barrier of entry, as anyone can add whatever work they want to the list.

I added several starred threads to the TRS Thread Tracker sandbox so they're easier to keep track of, since some of those threads were further down the page.
I got a rock for Halloween. And Mythical Motifs
has been morgued!
...And it was taken by a thread that'll most likely just be immediately morgued.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallTen Ways To Rewrite A Show: a restatement of someone's work, not a trope. Do I have to wick check if taking it to TRS? Same with TV Tropes Derivatives

The former only has six wicks and the latter only has four, so you might not need a wick check. Just list Not Thriving as the thread reason.
That said, if you did a wick check, it wouldn't take long at all.

I got a rock for Halloween.

Wish I could take Truth in Television to TRS, but I can't get myself to do a wick check.
BTW, is there a place for dewicking?
