Before making or posting in a thread, read the Trope Repairing Guidelines to see whether a thread you're considering making actually should be made, as well as what is and isn't allowed in an open thread.
This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is). The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread
to collect evidence if you need help.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

That would be a better fit for the Setting Up Trope Relationships thread.
135 -> 180 -> 273 -> 191 -> 188 -> 230 -> 300 -> 311
Sounds good, but link please? I don't see any mention of that thread on the forum list, the homepages of TRS or Trope Talk, or this thread's sticky post.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupSorry for not having answered. I was busy finishing a huge edit in an article and then talking with my sister about something crucial. Thanks to Amonimus for giving the thread's link.
135 -> 180 -> 273 -> 191 -> 188 -> 230 -> 300 -> 311If I recall, some of those threads actually reached the top of the queue, even before selkies fully stopped editing, and that's when they got put on hold. If we put them back where they originally were, they'd all be in line to be launched next. (As of October 4
, selkies' last thread was #33 and the Cosplay thread on top of the queue now was #107.) But after so long I don't know how much they even remember about those threads, and even if they do I wouldn't blame them for not wanting them to all be launched in quick succession.

I'm new to TRS so I'm not entirely sure how things work around here, but I'm almost certain we need to discuss one trope:
Ascended Fanfic confuses me; on one hand, it's described as being for works that started as Fan Fiction, but were then rebranded into original fiction, cutting ties to the original franchise. On the other hand, some examples seem to be referring to fan stuff that became official while still retaining the original IP (for instance, the VVVVVV and Ren & Stimpy examples). You think we should split it?
♪ DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN DUN ♪ "HWUH-HEOW" ♪ NRRRRRRRRR ♪ *BZZZZZT*The latter might be covered by Promoted Fanboy somewhat? But I could see value in a subtrope for fanworks that were incorporated into canon as opposed to standalone Ascended Fanfic.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I feel like "fan theory/headcanon/fandom in-joke becomes canon" and "fanfic becomes canon" are different enough things but I'm not sure how to explain it.
I think it's because something like a Fan Nickname getting referenced in canon feels like a very different deal than a fan-created installment being declared canon.
There was a free slot but I wasn't sure about launching Stellar Name. "Individuals named after a star or celestial object" is correct use per the description and I don't think it's less tropeworthy than a group of characters named like that. And the Stellar Name Wick Check only showed 7 ZCE. I'd like for other to take a look and see if there's an actual issue with Stellar Name.
That's why I launched the second item in the TRS Queue, My Art My Memory.
Reminding again about Prussian Kings, and that it doesn't need a TRS thread.
Should entries be removed from the Queue before or after the thread is unlocked? I've noticed a minor inconvenience of having to check Queue's edit history to see if someone asked to be pinged.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupWell, how about we try jogging their memory, then?
~selkies Sorry to ping, but a slot is about to open up in TRS. If you want to launch any of your threads, now’s your chance.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallOh, I missed it due to sleep and work. Better luck next time.

Actually it never opened. Seems the mods are a bit backlogged.
Ok, I'll keep an eye on it.

I got a rock for Halloween.OK, make that three slots because Up To Or More's crowner was ready to call and that was another Not Thriving thread, so dewicking didn't take long. I'll give selkies some time to respond before posting anything from the Queue.

I got a rock for Halloween.I'm also waiting patiently. Both options (Queue or selkies) involve dealing with a trope with a huge number of wicks: Happily Married (11k wicks) for the former and The Dreaded (18k wicks) for the latter.
I'll wait instead of making Stellar Name then too.

And Specs Of Awesome. Leaving 1 free slot. I'm gonna wait to see if they're gonna fill that too, which I'm fine with.
Yep, they did with Amusement Park.

There is a circular dependency between The Minion Master and Beast Master; each one claims to be a Sub-Trope of the other. I'm not 100% certain of what the correct fix is.
