Before making or posting in a thread, read the Trope Repairing Guidelines to see whether a thread you're considering making actually should be made, as well as what is and isn't allowed in an open thread.
This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is). The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread
to collect evidence if you need help.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

You could still propose your solutions in their thread. Or maybe both of you could suggest some non-mutually exclusive solutions we could go with.

I got a rock for Halloween.I've meant that I'll wait for the thread, to say that making it UN may solve those problems too.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThis is random but when I make my TRS threads myself I folderize the wick check in the pinned OP. Maybe it's just a style preference but I think having the wick check be on the pinned OP is better than having to read the thread to the end to find it.
Macron's notes
Oof, then there's me potholing it. Whoops!
I personally don't have a problem with linking to a sandbox for the wick check, and I think potholes are fine as long as they make it clear that the link is for a wick check sandbox, such as if the link to the wick check simply displays the text "the wick check", since that way it's easier to find it without having to hover over the links, as opposed to having less direct wording such as having "here" as the display text.

I got a rock for Halloween.Oh, I am fine with sandbox links. I wasn't talking about that. I was trying to say that it's more convenient to edit the wick check into the OP instead of copy pasting the wick at the end of the thread. Like how Doing It for the Art's OP
is formatted. Maybe I wasn't clear.

Macron's notesOh duh now I get you. I somehow thought you meant like, as a thing to do when posting an OP. Total brain fart.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailPerhaps because she said "when I make my TRS threads myself" instead of when she closes them, which is when what she's talking about is most relevant...
Someone brought up a valid point. Anime and Manga of the 2010s has a lot of subpages that are meaningless, can't be updated without TLP, and duplicate the list of the parent page. There was a thread
on the subject but everyone forgot about it. Would cutting the subpages (they are in Main/) be a TRS thing or the thread can be revived?
I've been in favor of culling those indexes for quite a while. Main/ becoming locked is why they're no longer being made, because they were being made without TLP.
Yes, but if I'm not mistaken, they started getting bombed to death after that because people grew tired of them, which is why no more have been made.

I got a rock for Halloween. This is pretty straightforward, so unless they can be cut by discussion elsewhere, I've queued this.

Thanks for clarifying. I wasn't active in the TLP then (I didn't even have an account) so I wasn't previously aware.
Since I've never really been that active on TLP, I didn't know that they started getting taken to TLP after Main/ was locked down until I saw it mentioned on another part of the site (I think one of the multiple ATT threads about those indexes), so I was originally in the same boat.
Found Tuft of Head Fur today while repeatedly clicking on "Random Trope". So far nearly all the examples I've found are "character has a tuft of head fur." TRS material, or no?
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallTRS to "Fur hair" idea, since I bet that's the core.
The "differentiate" idea, we likely have elsewhere. Uniformity Exception?

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I deferred cleanup of Old Shame to the new Projects thread for Creator Backlash so they can vet examples.
A Not Thriving thread for Stripped Drama took its place and probably won't take long to get out of the way.
I got a rock for Halloween.I have a feeling we'll be able to waive the Three-Day Rule again and salt The Slug early, and while the next item in the Queue (Shopkeeper) can't have that done to it since it isn't wick-starved, the fact that it's yet another case of occupation-based Chairs in the vein of Bank Teller and Landlord and has a wick count just below 300 means it probably still won't take long to take care of relative to active threads for other pages that aren't wick-starved.

I got a rock for Halloween.I wonder if there's a Pun here in regard to The Slug's name.
TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup
Yes, there is. I can certainly say that with the Three-Day Rule being waived, progress in that thread certainly wasn't... sluggish.
I go to sleep, wake up, and two TRS threads opened and closed in the process. Damn, TRS is going faster these days.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI reworded two of my OPs to make it clear that I agree if the consensus goes with whatever I suggested.
