Before making or posting in a thread, read the Trope Repairing Guidelines to see whether a thread you're considering making actually should be made, as well as what is and isn't allowed in an open thread.
This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is). The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread
to collect evidence if you need help.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

Its Raining Salesmen thread has been resolved. Pinging ~mr_c because they are next on the queue.
Actually, the underscore broke the ping so I ended up PM'ing someone else so I'll PM them directly...

Macron's notes
Are you sure the underscore broke the ping, since the admins fixed the ping code fairly recently to accommodate usernames that contain punctuation and/or begin with something other than a letter? I checked their PMs and I saw both the ping and the direct PM you sent after it.
Edit: Also, I agree that taking Blaming "The Man" to TLP instead of resurrecting its TRS thread would be the better option.

I got a rock for Halloween.Oh, I assumed it didn't work because mr_c links to a different troper called Mr C without the underscore but apparently the ping works despite that.
Macron's notesI closed the Sempai/Kōhai thread because I previously forgot that there was discussion about wick cleanup being unnecessary, and followed that up by making the next item in the queue (the thread for New York Is Only Manhattan).
I got a rock for Halloween. What's the protocol if I want to nitpick the punctuation in a trope title? Because I think The Parent-Produced Project should have a hyphen (Parent-Produced).
Edit: Last-Minute Project too.

Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailThat's not a TRS issue. You can ask for punctuation changes via the custom title tool on your own (read How to Make a Custom Title if you are unfamiliar with the process) If you have questions or concerns regarding custom titles you can go to the Custom title cleanup
for input.

Macron's notesAwesome, thank you!
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailQipao's thread is done, so I made the next thread in the queue (Bald Black Leader Guy).
I got a rock for Halloween. Also, I'm up next in the queue, and since Prongs of Poseidon's thread only has one namespace left to go through, I'll probably be able to make that thread soon (though if a different mod ends up closing the thread, they might make it instead since I gave others permission to make it).
I got a rock for Halloween.I might have to take Alternative Character Interpretation here at some point, it's a magnet for Zero-Context Examples. Most examples I've found read like this:
- Alternative Character Interpretation: Bob — is he a Jerkass who pretends to be nice, or a Jerk with a Heart of Gold?
Which does nothing to explain why each side of the fandom would argue for either of these interpretations. They're almost always phrased as questions, for some reason, which might be considered Word Cruft (specifically, About Rhetorical Questions).
We do have a thread somewhere for it, actually.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallLoads And Loads Of Characters thread has been resolved so there's a spot open. ~War Jay 77

So is it safe to cut Sandbox.Loads And Loads Of Characters Wick Check?
Yeah, that's fine. I forgot to copy the contents into my closing post so I just did that now.
Macron's notesJust updated the wick counts for Administrivia.Wick Cleaning Projects as I've decided to do every three days (I don't know, I tell myself it's useful). Notable wick decreases in the past three days are Hollywood Nerd at -157 wicks and Panty Shot at -144 wicks.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailOh, sweet. Thread up soon.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall![]()
- FWIW, lower numbers make me feel more confident to do something because it's a clearer difference I can make.
But currently preoccupied with disambig-ed works wick migrations.
Note to Self: A really good system can probably do 1 edit every 2 seconds?

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Just came across Toothy Issue, which describes itself as being about "the use of teeth in fiction" and lists some tooth-related tropes. It has no on-page examples, but does have 82 wicks. As an index, it'd be redundant with Teeth Tropes.
What category on Tropes Needing TRS should it go into?
Maybe Not Tropeworthy or just Needs Help.
Macron's notesI have a question. If a trope involves speculation about audience reactions to an element in fiction does that make it YMMV?

Uncanny Valley Hot Babes in Your Area Are Looking To Know YOU! Click Here to Sign Up for FREE! | Not quite back tbh. Don't expect much.I'm no expert but I would think all speculation goes under YMMV, tbh.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker Mail

Most of the off page wicks that were left look fine to me (although there was a ZCE someone added back to a page after I already delete it) and the on page examples were already cleaned for most part (and just need to be cross wicked if they aren't already.) However, there aren't many examples that partial context examples left. However, it might have been better to have Blaming "The Man" develop in the TLP due to the the lack of good examples left. Not sure if we need to make a new TRS thread/reopen the old one or just make an example gathering draft on TLP.
