Before making or posting in a thread, read the Trope Repairing Guidelines to see whether a thread you're considering making actually should be made, as well as what is and isn't allowed in an open thread.
This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is). The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread
to collect evidence if you need help.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

Main pages, character pages, recap pages, etc.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall...what about Useful Notes? Since those are standalone pages, can YMMV wicks be on them?
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailDiscussion regarding which wicks can go where is off-topic for this thread. Please read What Goes Where on the Wiki if you want an answer to that question, and if that isn't sufficient, make a Wiki Talk thread.
I got a rock for Halloween.Since this thread has been more active than the Uncanny Valley thread (which hadn't been posted in since the middle of last month until I posted a bit ago), I was wanting input on the sandboxes for its thread, which is moving the YMMV part to a new name and turning the main page into an IUEO trope. The sandboxes originally contained copies of Main.Uncanny Valley as placeholders so existing text could be reused if possible, but I finally ended up with the motivation to do something about that (which I had been wanting to do for a while), but I'm not sure if the changes I made are sufficient.
I got a rock for Halloween.
Did you post that in the right place?
I took that as asking to go to UV thread and give input on the progress.
TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup
Whoops, didn't realize that. I apologize GR.
No problem. I should be apologizing if I seemed like I was derailing the thread since I stopped a derail in the post above it. Amonimus is correct in that I was trying to bring more attention to the Uncanny Valley thread; the reason I posted about that thread here is to post a status update on a thread that had previously been dormant for a few weeks; I was hoping to draw more people to that thread since the fact that the sandboxes hadn't been moved to Main/ was what was preventing cleanup from starting.

I got a rock for Halloween.Bring Them Around doesn't even have 10 examples despite being a trope since pre-history.
(I need to start queuing things again)
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupNot sure what thread this should go at the forum. I created a short term project topic to clean up the mess of bad examples in the trope Bleached Underpants. It was brought up that the trope description should probably also be rewritten. I’m keen to give it a go, but want to start a thread for it, rewrite, then post for feedback.
Where should I do this? Thanks.
Depends on what you want to do with the description. If you're merely clarifying the current definition, you'd want the Trope Description Improvement Drive Long-Term Projects thread, since clarifying a description doesn't require TRS. If you want to change the definition itself, you'd need TRS.
(I haven't read that thread, so I wasn't sure which course of action was suggested.)

I got a rock for Halloween.
Thanks. I'm guessing it'll be clarification. Here's the thread where the topic of working on the trope description came up:
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=16515401850A69221200&page=1
Let me know if something different is needed. Thanks!
Standard Snippet thread is likely be over today, so pinging ~GoldenCityBird in case they're online.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI probably won't be online when that thread closes, so don't bother waiting for me.
TRS Wick CleaningI handled the rest of Undermined By Reality's wicks since they required mod intervention anyway (either they were on locked pages or pages that needed to be cut), so paging ~MacronNotes since a slot's open now.
I got a rock for Halloween.I feel it's easier to just look at threads that weren't active in a while and read through recent posts to check where it's left off, it's either cleanup or pending trope's new description.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI made the tracker in response to an issue of people bumping just to ask if any cleanup has been started, or worse, to suggest solutions long after the solution was found. I'd personally rather just start pinning mod posts that say "here's what we're doing", but this was the second best option.
Like Amonimus said, reading the recent posts is much easier, but a lot of people still don't ever do that.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI'm pretty sure I had suggested adding to-do lists to opening posts and pinning them before I became a mod, but now that I am one, I suppose I could start doing that if anyone asks for that to be done (preferably within the threads themselves since I don't usually read hollers). I'd probably put the opening posts' original contents in folders when adding the to-do lists.
I got a rock for Halloween.Loving the idea of putting "the progress so far..." into pinned post.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI'd be able to jump into projects without any fear that I'd be doing something wrong if there's a pinned explanation at the top of what the gameplan is! Love me some explicit instructions.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailYeah, that'd nullify the need for the sandbox completely and make it way easier.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallAlso unsure if "Spinning" was ever a TRS project, but that's been super stagnant on the Wick Cleaning Projects page. And it's got a whole lotta wicks!
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailIt did have a TRS thread
. The thread was closed because cleanup stalled which happened quite a bit back then.
I am still dubious about Spectacular Spinning being a trope + index instead of just an index because most of the examples with context (that I found) fell under Spin Attack but that's a discussion for another time I guess. I might consider wick checking Spectacular Spinning at some point to see if we should bring it back to the TRS.

Macron's notes

So are the Main and Character pages the only ones I should consider as non-audience?
