Before making or posting in a thread, read the Trope Repairing Guidelines to see whether a thread you're considering making actually should be made, as well as what is and isn't allowed in an open thread.
This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is). The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread
to collect evidence if you need help.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

I cut Sandbox.Unfortunate Names since the description was swapped in.
I got a rock for Halloween.Alright, so the wick cleaning for Schoolgirl Lesbians is going well. I've brought it down from a high 1394 to 747 but at this point, I need a break, so I'll be stopping until after Christmas. If you have time, even changing or cutting one wick can only speed up the process, and if you have the time and motivation to do more, please do.
Edit: Eh, I got bored and did another 200, eliminating it from the characters and darth wiki namespaces, as well as several namespaces where it had a very small presence. Not looking forward to handling the manga namespace, though. It's smaller than the characters namespace (which had 166 pages wicked to this former trope) but still quite large at 137.

My troper wallcame across Squat's in a Name. Been around since 2011 and only has 36 wicks. Not thriving at all and I think it has everything to do with its name.
Sounds like a duplicate of Faux Symbolism.
Speaking of duplicates, Audience Awareness Advantage since the 2013 rename didn't get that many wicks and I'm failing to distinguish it from Fourth Wall Myopia.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupSquat's in a Name: 36 wicks is standing per Wick and the page is a subtrope, so can't be called a duplicate. Probably not worth a thread.
Audience Awareness Advantage could warrant checking, though.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)
yeah it's definitely a subtrope and i was not advocating for a merge or cut. but probably a rename to help it out

One Last Fling's thread is done.
I got a rock for Halloween.Another open slot!
~amathieu13, if you're online, your chance is now!
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallSince Bald Woman clean up is moving along, I'll plop Bald Of Awesome down. I've also found that since it's mostly ZCE, it's not that bad to clean up wicks regardless of what we do
Hi, I want to open a topic for a rename of Discard and Draw, but the forum is currently filled. What can I do to get a thread on this as soon as possible?
Specifically, the trope is being regularly misused as a card game trope, interpreting the page's name literally (where you discard some cards and draw some more cards), even though the actual trope has nothing to do with card games.

Add it to Sandbox.TRS Queue and follow through How to Do a Wick Check meanwhile.
Speaking of Shipping, Anchored Ship and Minion Shipping aren't marked as YMMV, should they?
Also a topical question, Sorting Algorithm of Tropes has an entire category of "Sliding Scale of" tropes that aren't even indexed in Sliding Scale. Should they be tackled one-by-one or they can be TRS'ed as a group?

TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup
Those two tropes with "Ship[ping]" in the name seem to be about couples getting together within official works instead of shipping, despite their names, so I'd say no. They just appear to be misleadingly named, but I'd leave the names alone unless they're causing misuse.
It appears to be analogous to how Shipper on Deck is about characters in a work thinking two other characters should get together.
And yeah, I think the Sliding Scales should be handled by TRS, since SlidingScale.Home Page only indexes pages in the SlidingScale/ namespace.
I think Sliding Scale of Gameplay and Story Integration is a different case, because its redirect (Gameplay and Story Integration) is frequently used as a trope that parallels Gameplay and Story Segregation, to the point of its wicks outnumbering the main page's, and I personally think it should be a trope instead of a redirect to a sliding scale (and if the Wayback Machine is anything to go by, it actually was a trope at one point).

I got a rock for Halloween.Put my name in the queue again, because Rock Operas could use a simple merger into an existing page.
It's odd that those are even separate pages. We previously had a Rock Opera Plot page that was cut because it wasn't thriving and was redundant with Rock Opera, but I didn't know we also had a Rock Operas index that has a barebones description and also has no reason to be separate from Rock Opera.
Anyway, I could see the threads for I Ate WHAT?! and Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things closing in the near future, because we're just expanding the definitions for those two, so updating the description is all that needs to be done. (Actually Pretty Funny is also being expanded, but it'll still need some wick cleanup due to a combination of IUEO violations and examples that don't fit either the new definition or the old definition.)
Edit: Due to an illness-induced brain fart, I accidentally typed "index" instead of "description". That's been fixed.
Edit: Also, neglected to mention that input on the sandboxes for I Ate WHAT?! and Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things would be appreciated in those threads, since those threads should be able to be closed as soon as the descriptions are updated. (I think the folder in the latter's sandbox can be moved to Analysis. Why Fandom Cant Have Nice Things.)

I got a rock for Halloween. As a side-note, the Schoolgirl Lesbians thread is done and has been morgued. I went ahead and started the "Romantic" Two-Girl Friendship thread I wanted to, as it suffers from ZC Es up the wazoo.
edit: typo

My troper wallI Ate WHAT?!'s description was updated and its thread is closed, so a new slot has opened.
I got a rock for Halloween.Heads up, the Sequelitis/Seasonal Rot /Dork Age thread will likely be closing soon for anyone who's waiting in line.

Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things' thread is done, since the description was changed as proposed.

I got a rock for Halloween. That was much quicker than I expected, I am thinking of doing Atlantis Is Boring at some point as that has had an abandoned wick check for a while. Though for now I will probably hold it off to let other people get the spot and I am also dealing with some personal stuff.
the Bald Woman thread is going to be finished sometime today so get ready for another open slot
~Crossover-Enthusiast There's a free slot

I redirected Gradual Grinder. There are 284 wicks left to move.
