Before making or posting in a thread, read the Trope Repairing Guidelines to see whether a thread you're considering making actually should be made, as well as what is and isn't allowed in an open thread.
This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term
. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is). The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread
to collect evidence if you need help.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

I had no idea it was fanspeak.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallIf the discussion was that minimal, then there might be more of a case of bringing it back here.
Edit: I reread your post since I originally read it after getting out of bed, and yeah, now I'm more inclined to support an effort to bring it here.

I got a rock for Halloween.Actually, I don't think there is a good case for a new TRS thread on Toy Ship here. The procedural question is fine and dandy but it's not clear what kind of problem there is with the current state of the page that would justify a TRS. Such a thread would be prone towards pointlessly rearranging deck chairs, anyway.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSome time we should tackle the Moh's Hardness pages (Rock, Lyrics, Science Fiction, Violence). These pages seem to quantify rather than act as legitimate narrative devices, and scores are given on work pages without any context as to what the scores mean (you'd have to click the page to see it). These all appear to be JFF and should be treated as such.

They're Sliding Scales in all but name, so I don't know if they're even supposed to be listed as tropes.
Don't look like tropes imho.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThey were never meant to be tropes. I think they’d be better off indexed under Just for Fun, since that’s pretty much their sole purpose.
On the subject of Sliding Scales, the Gameplay and Story Integration redirect of Sliding Scale of Gameplay and Story Integration is frequently used as a trope in the vein of Gameplay and Story Segregation, to the point that the redirect has significantly more wicks than the main page, and apparently it used to be one at some point based on the Wayback Machine (I forgot which year I looked at).
As I said in the Tropes Needing TRS entry I added for Gameplay and Story Integration, turning it into the trope people are already using it as wouldn't take much work because the wicks would stay the same, and most of the work would involve the description and on-page examples.
Edit: Fixed a typo.

I got a rock for Halloween.I kinda forgot (or didn't notice) it's a redirect, unredirecting sounds like a good idea.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupYes! Split!
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I've been bothered by PietàPlagiarism for a while. I can't tell based on the description or examples if the Trope if meant to be "Holding a dead/unconscious person in a way that invokes religious iconography." or if it's just "Holding a dead/unconscious person."
And if it is the latter- is that really a narrative device/trope? It also doesn't help that the non-religious-icon examples involve anything from mourning the body to moving the body. What is this trope *about*?
The former. It's an Art Imitates Art subtrope, so the imitator does not need to have overt religious iconography; the tropeworthiness is in the reference.
Examples that are just the latter are lacking context. We have Died in Your Arms Tonight, Cradling Your Kill etc. for more general examples.

Can TRS Wick Cleaning and TRS Thread Tracker be linked in the pinned post?
I think at least adding TRS Wick Cleaning would be a good idea since it's an Administrivia page and thus an official project; less sure about TRS Thread Tracker since it's a sandbox. If someone else doesn't do it, I'll probably at least add the former if I think of a good way to fit a sentence about it into the post. (I'm currently tired, so I don't want it to end up sounding clumsy.)
Edit: Went ahead and added the former, I was undecided on whether to put it on a new line or put the sentence on the same line as the link to Administrivia.Trope Repair Shop, but I ended up going with the former regardless.

I got a rock for Halloween.![]()
So, examples that aren't clearly referencing The Pietà should probably be moved over to [Died in Your Arms Tonight] right? Cause right now we've got examples of carrying a wounded man *on a horse* which I struggle to imagine looking similar to The Pietà in any way. And if it is an [Art Imitates Art] trope then probably the Real Life examples should be taken off?
Unrelated to the previous discussion, but since I don't think anyone's brought it up, what do we do with the currently locked Actually Pretty Funny thread, which brought the number of threads to 51 despite the 50-thread cap? Do we have to wait for another thread to close before opening that one? I wasn't planning to open it until the thread count drops down to at least 50; I was just wondering what's up with that thread.

I got a rock for Halloween.I've seen 51 threads be open at once before, though if it matters I'm gonna try and get back to the grind tonight and work on getting Wake Up, Go to School, Save the World out of here, which would bring us back to 50 slots.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI'll see if I can work on either Author Existence Failure or Weird Al Effect tomorrow; I already handled a small amount of both recently.
I got a rock for Halloween.I added Badass Beard, Badass Mustache and Badass Moustache to the wick cleaning page; I'm far too tired of trying to explain to people what the trope means when it's in the description and the laconic. There's only about 3,000 wicks left to clean (I know that sounds like a lot, but most of them are zero-context or don't fit the new definition, so they can just be removed).

Lovecraft on Film is a list of film adaptations of Lovecraft works, while the bottom third looks like it can go on ReferencedBy.HP Lovecraft if they're not there already.
Hrm. Reminds me of the issue we were talking about here
. Which was never completely resolved. Now I'm wondering if those pages would have to be fixed in TRS.
Author Existence Failure’s thread has been resolved so there’s a spot open.
Macron's notes
Grabbed it for Moral Dissonance, thanks.

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI'm told to go to here if Hartman Hips needs a TRS. I made A Wick Check
beforehand to see if there's any misuse, though it needs a thorough check from you guys.

I forgot it was made fanspeak and not just redirected to Puppy Love.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
