Just to add on the rumors say the Pro will be using nVidia Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) to upscale to 4K likely by using the dock.

Huh... it's May 2 and the sales figures haven't been updated yet. I imagine the system already reached the 80+ million milestone (according to the last report, it had reached 79+ million).

I'll only consider getting it if they have exclusives that I'm interested in. But if they continue to sell 'downgraded' so to speak versions of games for the original, I'll stick with that.

I don’t believe anyone is suggesting that the Switch Pro will have any games that cannot be played on a regular Switch. It’s a hardware upgrade, not a whole new console.

Well, the DSi and New 3DS both had games that couldn't be played on their respective base version systems. Though, in the DSi's case, most of the ones that come to mind were mainly because they were built around a gimmick that used the camera or some other feature.

While I don't expect a battery that would make the Switch last 30 hours, an extra two to three hours in comparison to the stock Switch would be nice.

The DSi also has an online storefront with a fair number of exclusive games and some other features (like some sound mixer thing?) while the OG doesn't. These weren't strictly gimmicky and gave good incentives to buy the thing.

There's never any set date to Nintendo's earnings reports. The end of fiscal year one is usually right before or right after Japan's Golden Week.

More power or a better battery life, you can only pick one.

Late, from a page back, but I had my Switch since late 2017 as well, and the following summer I had my Joy-cons repaired and they still drifted months later, so I straight up bought a new pair and gave Gamestop the old one.

Why not both?

Because that would jack up the costs and Nintendo probably wouldn't want to scare people off with a huge price tag.

Well an upgraded Switch is going to cost more regardless and if you're going to give it a stronger display and graphics, you're gonna need a stronger battery so that it doesn't die within one hour.

Well if the Switch Lite is optimized for portable play (to the point that it can't be used docked), a Switch Pro optimized for docked play would be nice.

Probably where the reported 4K comes from.

x3 It's definitely going to need a better battery to compensate for the increased power draw (assuming it's more poweful in handheld at all). The question is if Nintendo is willing to invest in a battery that does that and then some for even longer life. A significantly stronger battery will just pump up the final cost, and Nintendo probably wants to keep the price down since affordability is an important part of the Switch's popularity.

Right now I don't have an opinion either way, because I'm waiting until Nintendo acknowledges that there's such a thing in development. All we've heard about this Switch Pro came from insiders and rumorologists, and those were the ones who told us Jonesy and Crash were "basically confirmed" in Smash and would be revealed instead of Steve and Sephiroth.

I don't think there's been a lot of overlap between Smash leakers and people reporting on the Pro. Plus very reliable sources like Bloomberg have published articles about it.

I'll give Bloomberg one chance, then.

On another topic, it seems like New Pokémon Snap is enjoying early success.

I'm so going to buy it once I can afford it and have no other games I want more.

I'll believe the Switch Pro exists when Nintendo announces it themselves. Until then it's just a rumor, especially since people have been claiming that one is in the works for over a year now. That said, if it is real I'm only going to buy it if it has games I want that can't be played on the current model.

Game Builder Garage announced; launches June 11th.

Wasn't expecting Nintendo to make their own Game Maker for the Switch (that wasn't Mario Maker). While it looks fun, I don't think I'll be getting it.
