And Treehouse Live starts about a minute after that's done.
I just realized that Saint's Row's Switch release will come tomorrow.
Wow, so no Direct until June 11th? I hope it's crammed full of new stuff.
You ever just wish May didn't exist
I need Mario Maker 2 and Crash Team Racing now
Good news, Tetris 99 now has a vs AI mode, as well as some classic single player modes. Bad news, it's DLC that costs ten bucks.
Isnít the game free with an online subscription? That doesnít sound unreasonable to me.
I mean, usually a vs AI mode in multiplayer games is considered one of those basic conveniences you wouldn't be expected to pay extra for.
Yeah, but itís not included in the base game, which is free.
Which means if you want a vs. AI mode, the game costs you a grand total of $10. If you donít care, it costs you nothing.

And in other Tetris 99 news...
The 3rd Maximus Cup is coming... next weekend. Scoring 100 event points will net you a Game Boy theme, no matter your overall ranking in the event.

Oooof, that's a ripoff.
Not paying for it. But I will try to get that Gameboy Skin.
Iím so confused by Nintendo fans.
Weíre apparently fine with Breath of the Wild still being $80 over two years after it comes out, but if they DARE to charge $10 for the single player mode of an otherwise free game, itís a ripoff?
I wonder... Will you still be able to play the VS AI and Marathon modes if you don't renew your NSO subscription?

Does the game itself get locked if you drop your subscription, or are you just unable to start a game?
The way Sony does it, anything you were given for free from PlayStation Plus is locked once you lapse your subscription, but anything you bought on PS+ sale is still yours.

Tetris 99 is an outright free download in the eShop, Nintendo just has the multiplayer mode check for a NSO subscription. So... I think if you get the DLC, you can play it offline, or without a sub? Maybe?
Either way, apparently the DLC will also have more modes coming in the future.
That's how I see it. If these are offline modes, it would stand to reason that you wouldn't need an online sub to play it (considering modern game industry practices I suppose that's not guaranteed, but I don't think Nintendo would do that here). The online mode is free to subscribers. This is essentially allowing people who don't play online to get the game.

Currently the online stuff is available without additional charge to all subscribers. The offline stuff is just some standard Tetris you buy on the cheap available to everyone, sub or no sub.

I'm just curious what role, if any, Bowser is going to play in this direct.
Also I'm hoping that they announce a Spyro: Reignited trilogy port.
The Big Block DLC for Tetris 99 is outright said in the eShop description to be able to be played even if you don't have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, I just checked it:
Well at least we have an actual good Tetris option now instead of annoying anime characters or a shitty battle royale.
Based on what I'm hearing, the offline modes don't need Nintendo Switch Online to play.
So, you're paying around $4 a month to play a battle royal Tetris game and/or paying a single $10 for standard Tetris plus an offline battle royal against CP Us.
Aaand just now realized you can press x to get more details on the online subscription NES games. So that makes it much easier to know what is going on in the special versions :P
Well. This is a new one.
Mary Skelter 2 is hitting the west via eShop... sometime (IFI hasn't announced the date yet).
That's not the new part. The new part is that somehow, this info is already on the work page, despite me not seeing it here in this thread, and the info only being announced today.
15 minute Mario Maker 2 Direct tomorrow May 15th at 3 pm PDT.
Guess that probably removes any possibility of it being showcased at E3, except maybe for a very short segment. It might be playable there, with pre-built levels ready to play.
