I'm also starting to think the NX is going to come out as a console/handheld bundle and the console seperate at launch next holiday withthe handheld by itself coming out later since they have much more support for the 3DS.

They only just recently started distributing dev kits. That's not enough time for a quality third party line-up by Holiday 2016.

They were distributing the kits long before the report went out. Definitely in Japan where Nintendo wants Square, Capcom, and Level 5 on-board asap. Nintendo won't be getting much from the west besides ports anyway, and a year is plenty of time for ports. Holiday 2016 is fine as long as Nintendo has enough content.

How much content would Nintendo themselves have though? The Wii U will be getting Zelda, Pokemon, and Star Fox. We also just had games like Xenoblade, Splatoon, Kirby, Yoshi, and Smash Brothers. I guess they could release it with Mario and Pikmin 4 but that's about it.

It wouldn't surprise me if they had other games for the NX being worked on that haven't been revealed yet.

If it's Holiday 2016, the NX is almost certainly getting a port of Zelda U.

On top of that, there's Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong Country, Kid Icarus, and Kirby, which they don't actually seem to require a huge amount of time between. The first game came out in '92, and then two more came out in '93. Then three in '95, two in '96, and two in '97. After that the series takes a break until 2000, after which there's a Kirby game every year up to 2006. Then 2008, 2010-2012 (with two in 2011), 2014, and 2015. So no reason not to include Kirby on the list.

If the system launches with Zelda and Mario, that's actually a pretty great first-party launch. Especially if they have support from the Japanese publishers. It's the months after it that matter most, and with the four I mentioned, plus Pikmin, plus the ones that no one ever likes to bring up like Wii Fit and Wii Sports, there's actually plenty they can do in their first year.

If it's true, I think I quite like the name "Nintendo Cosmos".

What if they blow away all expectations and it's the Nintendo Xbox?

Honestly, I think the reason the NX is being given so much speculation is due to just how much Nintendo dropped the ball with the Wii U, and people are looking to the NX to try and predict if Nintendo can recover.

Either that or because Nintendo's been spectacularly tight lipped about it and what bits and pieces of information we do get paint a very interesting picture.

Wheeled shoulder buttons sound difficult and impractical.

Not really. Just ask anyone who frequently uses the mouse wheel when playing on a computer.

Okay, but...why? Like, what possible benefit does having a weird input method give when Nintendo's number one problem is attracting third parties.

Still just speculation. Patent does not equal final product.

They could still click as L and R buttons for games that don't utilize them but you could use them to scroll through menus without actually pushing a menu button. The idea is extremely unique, at least.

I've seen a lot of people actually talk about how interesting the idea is and why no one's done it before. Having access to a mouse wheel would make navigating a lot of things a hell of a lot easier.
