"It is a little disappointing." Nemesis grunted in response to Bao's pondering. "I was expecting at least Beacon to be uncorrupted by politics." Although invisible from beyond the mask - the blonde has changed from her armor to her normal, equally obscuring clothing - Nessie's face briefly twisted in disgust.
Leader?! Me?!
Gareth was both surprised and utterly terrified at the idea. Why would the headmaster choose him of all people?! He could not lead! All he was good for was fighting! He could get everyone killed!
....The only reason....was that it was simply because of his lineage. Damn it. This was the very thing that he wanted to escape here.
Gareth had been uncharacterically silent as they walked but now, he spoke. Voice firm with his decision.
"....This is a joke. I am not a leader. Anyone with half a damn brain could see that!"
He turned to Gerhart. "You, you should lead. I resign. Do as you will."
SMMR
Incredulous, all Gerhart could manage to utter in response to Gareth was a simple "What."
Taking a moment to collect himself and to try and comprehend just what in Siegfried's name the princeling was trying to suggest, Gerhart managed to say "I do realize you aren't terribly intelligent, but you have been given orders to be leader. And besides, I have not been trained to lead. My purpose in life is to take orders and carry out the will of Siegfried's most valiant Order"
"Orders?! Bah! These orders are absurd!" spat out Gareth, slamming his armored fist into a wall in anger.
"The Headmaster is both a fool and a scoundrel! Does he think he will be rewarded if he gives this to me!"
He slammed his fist again. "Anyone with eyes could see that this is a mistake! I have neither the ability, nor the will to be a leader of men! I will get you all killed! And yet he still chooses me!"
The prince was shouting now, anger and fear mingling in his voice.
"I do not want this, and I will not do this! If you do not wish to take the position, then let Sir Vlad lead! Anyone but I!"
SMMR
Placing a hand on Macht's pommel, something that Gerhart frequently found himself doing during times of stress, the knight-to-be quietly contemplated what being a Leader would mean.
Naturally the change from taking orders to giving them would be a major one, and one that Gerhart didn't believe himself ready for (but then again, who was? Even Siegfried himself started as but a lowly squire). It was also worth considering that such a position might show The Order that Gerhart was more than a mere expandable swordsman.
Looking back up at Gareth, Gerhart said "Very well, I accept this position as leader, on one condition. Should I falter in my duties even once, you will take over. Are we agreed princeling?"
After the ceremony
Sanfar did not care for their jeers or concerns over her sex, they were pointless and trivial. If they wanted to be upset over the fact that she was not a man, let them, what could they possibly do to her?
...deport her, she supposed, but she doubted they would. She had every right to be here, and she would prove it to them. She deserved to be here, unlike her brothers back home, the lazy good for nothings...
With a sigh, she went back to her training, swinging her sword in slow movements as exercise, moving in a rudimentary fashion in silence.
"I am nature's weapon. You are unfit to carry on your species, and I shall ensure that you do not do so!" - Charles Darwin, XCOM SniperTeam VRNS?
It took quite a while for Robert to take everything in. Things had moved by at quite a blistering pace, including their return to Beacon, the ceremony and his current team-mates. ...All of this 'training and ceremony' to be a 'knight' was different to what he was expecting.
"I reck- Eh? Hold your horses, just give me a second." He quietly replied to the Raven Faunus. It took him a few seconds to realize he'd said the wrong thing entirely. "Sorry about that, Missy. Was letting my mind speak up. It's nice meeting y'all, yep."
Of course, with their leader heading off to those chambers, Noine looking a bit quiet, he glanced over at the frustrated Huntress, practicing swordsplay as he gave a friendly wave. When that didn't get much of a response, he walked over.
"Ain't my place to say, but I reckon having a dummy to whack instead of hacking at the air might be better practice." The young man commented, observing his partner.
Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.Tempestas 7, Time and Place Unknown
"It's time..."
"Now?"
"That's what upstairs is saying."
"Upstairs? The eight of us are as high as it goes. We're equals."
"And every group of equals has its first among them. Don't get so upset."
"Yeah, just be happy we finally get a chance to kill. I'm so hungry..."
"Blah, blah, blah, that's disgusting, but you get the point."
"Beacon burns, before the dawn. And we'll make sure it's done correctly, won't we...?"
"...so it begins."
Tempestas 8, 4 AM
Smoke, ash, and heat. The sound of unnatural thunder clashed in the air as wind roared violently in an apocalyptic display. And yet through all this, shards of ice dashed through the air in pursuit of flesh, digging into whatever they could find. The Hunters-in-training were torn from their sleep by this cacophony of destruction. Voices cried out into the night, seeking aid and protection from the forces that tore apart the training grounds of mankind's defenders. It was not even the dawn of the fourth day of class, and Beacon Academy was being razed to the ground.
Wayne Eisenmann had come this far. He was not about to join his family just yet. And he'd much rather be buried under Atlesian soil than in the rubble of a fallen school. At the stench of fiery ruin, Wayne threw together what he could in a pack and donned his armor.
"WAKE UP!" He yelled at his teammates, in particular ripping his new leader out of bed before kicking at his other teammates' cots. "We have to get out of here! Beacon is on fire!"
Out, out, out. Fight or flight, ladies and gentlemen. The team leaders are to decide. No more than two teams per choice. No matter how it's gone about, just add it in a spoiler like this, team leaders.

"Kraken, Reymond, get up! We must go now!", Tempestas said with a hint of panic in his voice.

"Never let anyone tell you that something is impossible." - Monty Oum, 1981-2015"Hhhgh! Aarrrh!" Rey thrashed awake, snatching up The Spinner exactly where it was laid the night before. Fire. Again. The ubiquitous hate the Faunus got would sometimes boil over into a sudden assault, and arson was nothing new. Waking up to find that you might die soon was nothing new. Rey slid her bag out from under her bed and started smoothly loading a few changes of clothes in.
Her voice was clipped and stiff. "How bad is it? Where is the fire?" She held up The Spinner. "I'll start cutting the wall down, we aren't chancing the stairs."
Vladimir was not a heavy sleeper by a long shot. Years of the grueling training he had received meant that he was always ready to react to the slightest stimuli, ready to attack without a slight hesitation.
Thus, the second the slightest bit of smoke reached his nostrils, he snapped his eyes open and quickly got up, realizing there was a fire burning not too far from their room.
“Sir Gareth!” Vlad began to yell as he quickly put on his cloak. “Sir Gerhart! Sir Ovid! We need to get out of here, now!”

Gerhart hadn't exactly been sleeping. The knight-in-training was stuck in a room with three people he didn't know (and thus did not trust, though even getting to know them likely wouldn't change that), so Gerhart simply decided to spend the night rereading a book on the many glorious deeds of Siegfried and the Knights of his order.
Slamming his tome shut as the ungodly din began, Gerhart tore his heavy woolen robe off and quickly began donning his armor. Gritting his teeth as he continued to fasten more plates to his person, Gerhart responded to Vladimir
"I would greatly appreciate it if you would cease calling me 'Sir'." muttered Gerhart as he finished affixing his cuisses. "And if you're trying to insinuate that we flee from whatever it is that's attacking us, you'd best get moving, because you'll be running off by yourself. However, if that isn't your plan, I would highly recommend that you take up arms and join me as I go put an end to whatever is attacking us."

"Aye, our friend has the right of it. We fight, we drive them back, and we make the bastards sorry they attacked us." Gareth added.
The prince had not been sleeping, simply sitting on his bed trying to make sense of his coursework. Gareth had never been good with theory. On the bright side, he had been poised and alert when the signs of the attacks made themselves known.
The prince was already putting the finishing touches on his armor, armed and ready.
"What are your orders, comrade?"

"My, my, my, you all do love your speeches, don't you?" Ovid asked, sitting up and stretching from his sleep. The teen slid into his leather armor quickly before slipping his coat on and picking up Revolt. "Still, I suppose it's not just like I can sleep through the fire myself. And besides...I need to see if the enemy has any techniques worth stealing."

Too early for this shit
Vasilos slept like a child that night. How could you not, after almost not making it back from a horde of creatures that were as far from the light of the gods as it got? Of course, however, his happy sleep was disturbed at the smell of something burning. It smelled not unlike somebody had left something in the stove for too long. Way too long. Far too long, so much so you'd need to plan to do so-
He opened one eye and looked around, still groggy, taking a deep breath, then coughing when smoke entered his system. Something had gone terribly, horribly wrong, and something was on fire. Something big.
His poor weapons would not get the TLC they so deserved today as he got up. He immediately went to rouse his team members, provided they weren't already awake. Vasilos was rather forceful with his attempts to wake them up; while he didn't directly resort to physical violence, in the face of Beacon being on fucking fire any other method was fair game.

"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Nonie awoke suddenly, and jumped at the flames in the area. She grabbed her seeds and her spadespear as quickly as possible.
"What's our strategy Vasilos?" Nonie asked.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. The heat of the fire was actually improving Ahyan's ability to sleep. The warmth it provided actually made him feel at home (despite the fact that desert nights are cold, it made him feel like it was a nap during the day). He muttered something under his breath about "overcooked kibi" then rolled over.
The young man started snoring amid the chaos. Someone else, someone significantly better at their job than he was, would have to wake him up from his slumber.

Vasilos immediately moved over to Robert, and very harshly shook the man. "Robert! Wake up! Beacon is on fire!"

Wayne gave Tempestas some sort of look before adding a nod, and then he walked ahead towards the chambers for the first years, having already gotten a little idea of the area.
