Splitting off the works is a free action here, I think.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah, just create a new works page, index it, and then update the original as appropriate.

Just to help clear things up with Beed28 on Dr. Malcom Betruger since he hasn't played Doom 3 yet, he's one of the scientists you meet in Doom 3 who's involved with teleportation experiment.
I believe the mod recommendations need to be moved to the Fan Fic Recs or Fan Work Recs page, as they aren't officially supported (as far as I know).

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? You think we can make a Just For Fun page for those mods, similar to the Skyrim mods?
In any case we already have a Game Mod Index, and I don't know if the Doom page needs to duplicate it.

I concur.
I was of great use here.
OP didn't play Doom 3. He would like help splitting off the page into it's respective games as he hasn't played all of them.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIs that absolutely necessary? I mean, we certainly could do it, but I'm not entirely convinced we need to. It's generally pretty clear from context which game is being talked about in each trope. Doom [1] doesn't have a "Bertruger"? Then presumably it's not talking about Doom [1].
I mean, if we're gonna do it, then okay, it's not exactly hurting anything I suppose...

Moon◊Just calling it like I see it, Shima. The page has bigger problems than just whether users can or cannot identify which character is in which game. It should have a franchise page, first and foremost. The trivia section also attracted a lot of non-trope hooked examples before I cleaned it out a few months back.
A franchise page would be a good idea. At the very least, the work page's trope list should be broken down by tropes that are common to the games, and then folders for each game's specific tropes.
I'll split the videogame pages now that I have some time. Might need some help with the Trivia, YMMV and other pages, though.
Double-checked the pages; we need Franchise.Doom because of the video game, film and comic book pages. I think the OP was asking for a VideoGame.Doom franchise index as well.

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I agree. I just don't know enough about the series to make one properly. Go make a franchise page.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI agree with making it a franchise page, and creating specific pages for each part. Especially with a new Doom game coming soon.
And yes, there's also the movie and the infamous comic.
If we're looking for precedents, Quake and Duke Nukem both have franchise pages, and specific pages for each installment.

I'm also for splitting old-school Doom with Doom 3. We don't want to spoil things for people who haven't played Doom 3 when they're browsing things from the older games and vice versa.
Srg. Dornan: Troper, what are you doing here?! Get back to your post!!!What's the new Doom going to be called?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Doom. Just Doom.
The page for the new Doom should be Doom (2015/2016), for disambiguation purposes.
Sooooo. Expected tree of Doom work pages:
- franchise.doom
- videogame.doom (covers Doom, Doom 2, and Ultimate/Final Doom)
- videogame.doom64 (could possibly be lumped together with the classic Doom page)
- comicbook.doom
- film.doom
- literature.doom (NOTE: we might want separate work pages for the Flynn Taggart Doom novels, the Doom Movie novelisation, and the possible Doom 2016 novelisation that might appear eventually)
- videogame.doom3
- videogame.doom2016
- videogame.brutaldoom
Well, Brutal Doom would presumably be amongst several other mod pages like Batman Doom, Demonsteele, Reelism, et cetera. But otherwise, that sounds about right?
I would probably lump Doom 64 alongside classic Doom, yes. It's distinct from them, but not that distinct.

Moon◊No, I would prefer:
- Franchise.Doom (indexes the mediums)
- videogame.doom (indexes the video games)
- videogame.doom1993 (covers Doom, Doom 2, and Ultimate/Final Doom Doom 64 — until each one is split off; use redirects to this page until pages are created)
- videogame.doom3
- videogame.doom2016
- comicbook.doom
- film.doom
- literature.doom (NOTE: we might want separate work pages for the Flynn Taggart Doom novels, the Doom Movie novelisation, and the possible Doom 2016 novelisation that might appear eventually)
- videogame.doom (indexes the video games)
Brutal Doom already has its own page. I don't think 1993!Doom and Doom 2 should be split in different pages, considering that the only differences between them are the super-shotgun, a couple of new enemies, and the levels, while graphics and gameplay are almost identical.

What about calling the new Doom "Doom 4", like how the eighth Mortal Kombat game is called "Mortal Kombat 9" even though that's technically not it's name?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
This page really needs to be split. Doom 3 (which I haven't played) is heavily different from the older DOS games and it's really jarring to see examples from that game as well as the older DOS games mashed together in one page. It's confusing as hell.
There's an example:
I don't even remember a character named Dr. Betruger when I've been playing the games.
These two, for example, I do remember. Doom didn't really have much of a story back then except going through levels and blasting demons and hoping you can make it to the end. The Spider Mastermind is one of the bosses I remember, along with the Cyberdemon and Icon of Sin. At no point do I remember encountering Dr. Betruger.
