"Hmm. Nice room." Jack had arrived at the Grand Khan Hotel after only a few minutes on his skateboard. He had been shown to his luxurious room by a bellhop and was now admiring his new surroundings. "Well, time to get to work." Jack pulled his father's laptop and connected to the Net and viewed the limited info on Redion and Mitsuba from his father's database. Crap. There was barely any thing, and nothing about terrorism and counter-terrorism. Soon, Jack gave up and opened his customization software. He then began to write new data for Vile's Ride Armor using his blank chips, adding a few new weapons and upgrades to his Navi's secret weapon.

After jacking Beat out and hearing what the two Rediron reps had to say, Mike turned the volume on his headphones up and stayed silent the whole ride back. The sight of Ms.Hammond's steel hand was still fresh in his mind, as well as Catriona's departure...

Grand Kahn Hotel

Having decided it would be best to call it a day, Mike headed for his hotel room. After checking in, he headed up to his floor. Stepping out of the elevator, he could swear he saw one of his teammates enter a room down the hall. He didn't bother to call out to Jack, figuring there'd probably be time to chat later.

Coincidentally, following the numbering of the doors and his room key, Mike realized that his room was right next to the one said teammate entered.

"Well, guess we're close in case anything happens..." He muttered, seemingly to himself, but he was sure that Beat could probably hear.

Mike's Hotel Room

First, Mike set up his laptop on a desk, plugging his PET into it so Beatman could listen to any music he felt like.

Mike lounged out on his bed and immediately started flicking channels. He stopped on what seemed to be a live orchestral concert.

He could easily spot his father, sister and brother, playing the Cello, Harp and Violin respectively. He smiled, troubling thoughts easing away as he lost himself in the music. Orchestra might not be a favorite of his, but he could never miss a concert his family was playing in.

"I wonder if I should tell em' later...about what we did today." He wondered how they would react; He never told them that the "job" he got involved battling and apprehending Net Terrorists.

His brother and sister would probably be jealous; his Lil' Sis always wanted him to show her how to Net Battle, though she probably wouldn't ever go through something like this. His Big Bro always focused on music more than anything that had to do with the Net, but he always seemed to show a bit of envy whenever Beatman beat his Navi in a battle.

His Mom and Dad...They'd probably be pretty worried. Though, they're probably worried anyway, seeing as he hadn't checked in with them since he arrived in Zanadew.

He sighed, then turned his gaze towards the ceiling.

He guessed that this is what it feels like when they say "All in a good day's work".

Roswell thought for a moment, and then decided to humor a voice in the back of his head. He began looking into information regarding Redion, particularly its construction, and as he began to search, he realize there was another matter that would probably be good to look into.

In addition to looking into information about the Redion building itself, he also searched to see if there was any publicly available information surrounding its blueprints and the buildings design. A building as new as that - from a company as high-tech as Redion - was going to be state of the art and as interwoven to the net as anything. And there was a part of him that wouldn't put it past Mitsuba Channel to try to 'strike home' at the HQ under the right circumstances, circumstances which would probably see him want to familiarize himself with the various nooks and crannies of the building.

He quickly added the Grand Khan Hotel to the list of buildings to research and try to familiarize himself with. While he doubted he would be staying there, he suspected others on the team would. And if he was willing to consider the idea that Mitsuba might eventually try to attack Redion HQ, he also had to consider the idea that they might attack the Grand Kahn Hotel at some point as well.

As the list of materials he felt the need to investigate built up, however, he realized that he was starting to get disorganized.

Pausing for a moment, he stepped back to re-think the list of things to research that was building up. And after some consideration, he turned to his PET, where Gemini Man was still present, though he looked to be interacting with no one in particular.

Looking to where he was doing his research and investigation, Henry Roswell considered what he knew about the Net Navi. While he had originally taken it as being nothing more than an immensely glitchy system, what had eventually come to his attention was that what he had perceived as glitches were in fact a result of Gemini Man's design as - simply put - an ultimate multi-tasker.

Looking back at Gemini Man, then back to his work, he realized that right now, a multi-tasker was probably something he could make good use of to help him keep track of things.

"Alright, let's see if we can figure you out." Roswell said as he picked up the PET and moved it to where he'd have an easier time accessing it on the fly.

"Impossible." Gemini Man replied. "I am mystery."

Roswell let out a sigh, already beginning to have regrets. But he soon recomposed himself, gave Gemini Man a rundown of what he had done thus far, and then tried to continue with his progress as he hoped the Net Navi would do more good than harm.

Roswell's Search

There was very little declassified information on the building. Despite the occasional building plan or land document, there wasn't very much in the terms of specifics.

What Roswell got with his employee pass was one small tidbit of information: the building had an internal closed network that spanned the entire building. Security here was at its utmost high, with many many tiers of firewalls and guarding programs.

Cordozar

RifleMan discovered that the store was owned by a 'Columbia Broadus'. They specialized in imported chips, specifically. It looked like the wooden exterior was just for design reasons. There was a record on her Net Navi, a ChillMan.EXE.

Imports. Was Columbia foreign?

Now that they noticed it, a NetFrican flag hung down from one of the windows. It was definitely possible.

It also looked as though Faro had left. It was just him now.

Grand Khan Hotel

Faro pulled out his notebook as he arrived at Grand Khan Hotel. He began scribbling out some interview questions, getting ready to get some info about his other operatives. He arrived at Jack's room; may as well start from the top of the list. He rapped on the other Redion operative's door. "Hey man, it's Faro. I wanted to get some questions down."

Jack opened the door to find his teamate standing outside, clutching a notebook in his hand. "Questions?" Jack asked. "Sure, come in."

"Hey Jack, is it that guy with the penguin? Me and birdbrain have a score to settle."

Cordozar

After several seconds of leisurely searching (it was second nature to a creature born of the Internet), RifleMan compiled his results as Fernando blinked, Faro seeming to disappear the moment after.

"...the hell? Could fockin' swear I saw Faro."

"You must be going nuts, then. And at 25, too - real medical mystery case."

"Don't make me take out your battery." The threat was in jest, as it always was.

"Party pooper. Anyways, search results are back. Cordozar is owned by someone named Columbia Broadus. Their specialization is imported chips, apparently the wooden exterior was just a design decision, and not at all indicative of the type of chips available."

"Imported, hm?" Fernando scanned the front of the building, and found the flag of Netfrica there.

"Perhaps this Columbia fellow is a foreigner."

"Does that really matter much in Netopia of all places?"

Fernando shrugged. "Vaguely. So what do you say about viewing some fine Internet weaponry?

"You had me at "fine"."

Fernando proceeded to walk into the store with little fanfare.

"Great." Faro strode into the room and pulled up a chair, pen in his mouth. He set his PET on the table. "Chill Penguin and Vile can, uh..." DON'T DO IT DON'T DO IT "Chill out... while we run the interview. I'm assuming your Navi doesn't want to contribute to the interview, but if I'm weong please let me know."

"Between the beak and the visor I'd be impressed." Faro remarked.

Chill Penguin honked out of the PET's speakers. "If he's willing, the PET is open to joiners if Boba there's man enough."

Faro tapped his paper. "So, first question, what is your personal economic situation? Do you have any dependents, or are you yourself a dependent?"

"I don't have people depending on me, but I was a dependant. My mom died when I was 3 and when my dad disappeared last year, I had no money. I had to ration what food I had at my house and make money by picking pockets or hacking. When I made Vile, it got easier because I could now make more cash with illegal Net Battles. But there were still nights I went to sleep hungry.

Faro scribbled his reply down. "Okay, great. Next question, where in the world are you originally from? Oh, and you don't mind if Chill Penguin's arena on my PET is iced over, right? It's his stage so I figured I'd let him do how he would."

The interior of Cordozar was lit atmospherically by electric candlelight and strings of LEDs. When Fernando opened the door, faint wisps of smoke swirled out the doorway and into the street.

The sweet scent of incense met Fernando's nose at the same time the chiming of the door alerted the person at the far end of the shop.

"A customer?"

The sound of a wooden chair against a wooden floor could be heard, followed by a person coming out from a side room that was initially hidden out of view.

She was rather tall and lanky, and dressed in loose white clothing, which contrasted quite a bit with her dark skin. A series of colorful necklaces hung from her neck, each with a small pendant to hold a chip. Her hair was in loose braids that hung aimlessly from her head.

"You lookin' to buy somethin?" Columbia asked, sizing Fernando up. This guy had to be a netbattler, there was no other reason why he'd enter the store.

Information on the Redion building was promising - if the building really did have a closed network, odds were that it would probably be a safe facility in case of an emergency. Unfortunately, there was no way to be sure without more information, but he would have to be satisfied for now.

"Alright, Gemini." Roswell said. "Let's see what we can find on the Grand Khan Hotel."

As soon as Fernando opened the door to Cordozar, he could see smoke leaking out of the building. Nowhere near the smoke of a fire; rather, the smoke of candles, amplified by a hundred.

As soon as he smelled incense Fernando knew that was likely the source. He took a moment to look around the store, but it seemed then its proprietor had come out to greet him.

Fernando took her in; black and white, like yin and yang, wearing multiple necklaces - each with chip storage. Fernando himself was rather casually dressed in a blue-and-white striped polo T-shirt and a pair of navy blue jeans; he looked like someone you'd find on the street.

"Perhaps," Fernando responded. "Right now I'm just looking around."

"Just looking around then? Eh, I'm sure you'll find something to your liking." Columbia replied, shrugging and turning back to where she had been sitting prior. On her back were the letters "R&G" done in a very angular and fancy font.

Decorative lines added to the classy style of the two letters.

Roswell's Search

The Grand Khan Hotel was built rather recently, during the advent of the NetNavi. Redion Incorporated provides all security services for the establishment. Its room service can be described only as 'world class'.

Named after an archaic term for a Choinan military leader, the building's lavish decor can be said to fit what its namesake would enjoy. Business executives from across the planet stay here for the commerce Zanadew City provides.

"Right, right. Okay, so do you think that you are receiving opportunities equal to people from different economic stations?" Faro leaned back in his chair.

Chill Penguin jumped onto the hook in his arena and hung on, waiting for Vile to show up.

"Well, yeah." Jack replied. " I mean, I don't think someone my age is normally recruited into a private company to take down a terrorist organization. That sort of thing only happens in books, video games or movies."

Vile jacked into Chill Penguin's arena and said "Would it hurt to put a heater or something on, birdbrain?"

The selection was actually rather wide for such a small shop. Electopian chips, Yumlander chips, Choinan chips, all sorts of chips were present and ready to be bought. Now, it's not like Cordozar would import regular chips; these had to of course be ones you couldn't buy in Netopia. This meant that they had to somehow reflect the culture or style of their country of origin.

Cordozar

Whipping his PET out of his pocket, Fernando and RifleMan perused the Chips the store had to offer.

"...sweet lord, come to me."

"Hm?"

"I found what I want." After a few seconds of searching, Fernando saw it. It was a chip of a compound bow - not the usual stuff RifleMan carried, but if anything else he was a man of range; he didn't believe in melee combat, mostly because he also believed that if you let someone get close enough to punch or slash, you failed to keep them away from you.

It might also have been that he just wasn't all that good at fighting with swords.

GakGung, as it turned out, appeared to be an almost comically thin Choinese bow, but that beheld its true power - the arrow it fired could be charged to different levels. Nocking a zero-charge arrow and letting it loose would be the Navi equivalent of a taser; a full-charge arrow, provided it made its mark, would leave devastating effect. At full charge GakGung also shot a cluster of three more less powerful arrows that could often prove to be a killing blow.

"...Miss? I believe I've found what I came here for."
